I have never used a foldable (except for pre-iphone era). Apple cancelled my Duo order, and due to the experience and delay, I have been researching the market.

I have been in the IOS garden my entire time as a smart phone user and Im considering switching to AndroidOS, and either going with the Zfold 8 Ultra, or waiting for the rumored second generation Trifold. To me, even though I have not had my hands on any foldables, the passport style of the Duo and the base Zfold 8 could be too small. Im looking for the biggest phone possible.

Anyone made the switch from IOS recently? Particularly for their folds?

My boyfriend is really apprehensive due to us losing all the imessage quirks. Im going to check out the Zfold 8 Ultra tomorrow at best buy.

Or are a majority of you guys planning on switching back to the IOS garden of high walls for the Duo?

Ich habe seit 10 Jahren ein iPhone. ich habe aber das Gefühl, seit 10 Jahren auf das selbe Display zu schauen. Ich mag einfach die technischen Spielereien die Android bietet. Ich liebe Technik und spiele mich gern damit herum und so ein neues Theme fühlt sich gleich wie ein ganz neues Handy an 😄

aber ich habe auch ein paar Bedenken deshalb hätte ich gern Erfahrungsberichte von Leuten, die auch von Apple zu Android gewechselt sind (und die es eventuell bereut haben - oder eben auch nicht).

Meine Bedenken:

• Goodnotes: Ich verwende Goodnotes intensiv auf meinem iPad und möchte meine Notizen auch am Smartphone öffnen und bearbeiten können. Wie gut funktioniert die Synchronisierung zwischen iPad, Android und gegebenenfalls MacBook über Goodnotes Cloud tatsächlich?
• AirTags: Ich verwende AirTags und weiß, dass sie unter Android nicht direkt funktionieren. Gibt es brauchbare Alternativen? Und wie umständlich ist es, die AirTags weiterhin über meine Apple-Geräte zu verwalten?
• Apple Watch: Ich mag meine Apple Watch sehr und nutze sie für Fitness, Benachrichtigungen, Anrufe und Apple Pay. Wie zufrieden seid ihr nach dem Wechsel mit einer Galaxy Watch? Was vermisst ihr?
• iCloud und Fotos: Ich liebe es, ein Foto auf meinem MacBook zu speichern und es Sekunden später am iPhone zu haben. Funktioniert das mit Google Fotos oder einer anderen Lösung ähnlich unkompliziert? Wie gut lässt sich ein Samsung mit einem MacBook kombinieren?
• Dateien und Synchronisierung: Ich verwende iCloud Drive und möchte meine Dokumente weiterhin problemlos zwischen MacBook, iPad und Smartphone synchronisieren. Funktioniert das mit Google Drive oder OneDrive zuverlässig?
• Tastatur: Ich habe öfter gelesen, dass die Samsung-Tastatur schlechter sein soll als die vom iPhone. Wie sind eure Erfahrungen? Ist Gboard eine gute Alternative?
• Sicherheit: Ich schätze an Apple, dass das System relativ geschlossen ist und ich mir wenig Gedanken über Schadsoftware oder unseriöse Apps machen muss. Wie sicher fühlt ihr euch mit Android im Alltag?
• Allgemeine Zuverlässigkeit: Wie sieht es mit Akkulaufzeit, Softwarestabilität und langfristiger Nutzung aus? Mein aktuelles iPhone macht mir nach einem Update ziemlich viele Probleme, was mich zusätzlich über einen Wechsel nachdenken lässt.

Falls es nicht hervor geht: Ich habe ein iPad Pro und ein MacBook - die möchte ich auch nach wie vor nutzen. Mein iPad mini würde ich für ein faltbares Handy verkaufen weil ich es dann einfach nicht mehr brauche (ich nutze es jetzt auch schon sehr wenig).

With the iPhone duo coming out, I never thought about buying a folding phone so I decided to do a bit of research, I was convinced the z fold 8 would be what I get over the duo, ultra and Motorola but when I went in person the size of the fold 8 wasn’t to appealing for me with both the 8 & 8 ultra next to each other I liked the ultra more. I think this is the first time I can’t relate to the majority of phone reviews.

Estou usando um Z Fold 8 há 6 dias, vindo de um iPhone 17 Pro e estou amando o aparelho! Entretanto, vejo muitas pessoas falando sobre o quanto a bateria dura de 10-11h de tempo de tela, enquanto que a minha chega a aproximadamente 7 horas por carga. Já estou usando o perfil de performance leve.

Em comparação, eu conseguia cerca de 11 horas de tempo de tela com o iPhone 17 Pro, que tinha uma bateria de aproximadamente 4200 mAh, enquanto que o Z Fold 8 tem uma bateria de 4800 mAh, não faz sentido, quase não uso a tela interna.

Isso melhora depois de algum tempo? Devo estar com alguma configuração errada?

Hi, I'm definitely getting one of the Z folds. I'm coming from Pixel 9 Pro Xl and can't get Pixel Fold in my county, so going for Galaxy phone.

What i do on my phone

• watching YouTube and other streaming platforms. Fold 8 has better inner display for that, but im afraid of the speakers on one side

• massaging - RCS messages and Instagram

• Instagram, Reddit and X scrolling

• games - Pokemon Go, Pokemon Champions, steam emulation.

• work on the go - emails, preparing kahoots and other activities for my classes

Which one should i buy? Are any apps i use better optimized for any of those two?

Is everyone else having an issue when commenting on a Facebook post from the Z Fold 8 cover screen? I'm unable to see what I'm typing.

I believe mine is affected as well. The right half of the screen appears slightly whitish when displaying mostly black content, such as dark mode on the Reddit app. However, it appears completely black when displaying a true black (#000000) screen.

If you want to check, head to pureblackscreen.com, pick black, and go full screen. The screen should look totally off. Now, keep it full screen and turn on 'eye comfort shield' on your Samsung. On mine, the right half looks washed out, but only if I actively looking at it. I'm looking for a second opinion before I reach out to support.

Pretty nifty app but I'm not sure it's any more convient than just touching the screen on the z fold 8, I have decently sized hands . Anyone agree or disagree?

Hello my fellow folders is there a way to have Home Screen and apps layout in cover screen and Homescreen only on the inner screen I tried to look in routines whith the folding action but to no avail if someone has a workaroun or a goodlock trick please do tell.

I have a Google pixel 10 pro xl but I didn't like it, I always wanted a fold phone, I want to change it for the Samsung fold 7 o 6 but I don't know if it is worth it change for the fold 6 o spend a little bit more and change it for the fold 7

So I've been thinking about switching to the 8 Ultra from my Galaxy S25+. I've had the phone mostly for the first few months since it came out. Recently, my camera has had a weird issue that will take around $150 to fix, and I'm thinking of trading it in for 400 instead of fixing it. I am really big on cameras, and I heard it would be an upgrade.

This is going to sound stupid, but I play a lot of DS and PSP emulators and really want one in order to have that same feel. I also play other games like Wilf Rift and Pokemon Unite. I also doomscroll shorts and watch Netflix quite a lot.

I would say I'm not the clumsiest person, but I do drop my phone every now and then. Would this be something that would be good for me? Would this last me at least 2-3 years (thinking of getting 2yr warranty if I choose to buy)?
