A quick review of the Spigen Air Skin Aramid case.

For the first few days, I was very happy with it: pleasant feel, precise cutouts, and wireless charging and MagSafe working perfectly.

However, after just three weeks, I noticed that one corner of the hinge protection was already damaged. It looks as though the aramid finish is nothing more than a thin adhesive layer. This is a far cry from Kevlar!

I'm a very meticulous person and take great care when handling my phone. It's also worth noting that the other corners of the case are in perfect condition.

For a case at this price point, this is simply unacceptable. I'll therefore be returning it to Amazon.

I'm still undecided about which higher-quality case to choose as a replacement.

I've owned every fold since the 5 and the charging speed/capacity increase has been life changing coming from the 7. Like the numbers do not put into perspective how much of an improvement it is for day to day use.

I had to constantly plan around my Fold 7's battery life. The capacity was one issue, but the 25w charing speed was really what amplified it because even the top offs would take forever (relatively).

I'd consider myself a low end power user and I don't think about charging this phone until I lie down in bed at night which has made the entire experience of owning a fold so much more enjoyable for me.

Had the iPhone 13 since release date (roughly 5 years ago? jeez time flies), was a solid phone, but time gets us all and by now it wasn't as smooth of a phone as it used to be for me. So i took a look at what i wanted to get, curiosity took the best of me and i choose this Z Fold 8. First ever foldable i've ever had.

I'm really enjoying it! I love the aspect ratio, felt weird at the beginning but now every other phone feels like a long stick. The amount of customisation you can do to both home and lock screens is also really cool.

Facial recognition is not as smooth as face id on an iPhone, but the finger sensor on the side works like a charm and is really responsive and fast.

I really really enjoy reading on this phone. Aspect ratio is an absolute wonder for a double page book on landscape mode, screen is really crisp and battery lasts a lot.

On the bad side, i do find the camera to be worse than the one on my iPhone on certain apps, also some apps like Instagram are not fully optimized for this aspect ratio but i guess they will solve it now that the iPhone Duo is coming out.

All in all i'm very happy with the purchase.

Case is a DBrand grip with the "black camo" skin and the reader app is CDisplayEX.

I have the Zfold 4 and Samsung recently switched to quarterly security updates. My work apps have started to complain that I need the Sep security patch. The current patch I have is from Aug.

Since the patches are quarterly, I would assume that I'll get another one for Q3 and then won't see the next one till end of Dec/early Jan?

It seems like my fold 4 may not last long enough till the next devices release as i planned to wait for the fold 9 originally.

What's the best offer in the uk for a fold 8 currently?

I can get a blue light card discount on both the 8 and the ultra. Annoyingly the fold 8 works out to £1558 or so and the ultra £1548 ish for both as 512gb models

I prefer the form of the fold 8 to the ultra but with the ultra coming in cheaper its hard to make the choice for the 8 over it.

Is there a pattern for discounts for these phones? The discount i have available right now is till the 27th of October.

I finally bit the bullet and ordered a hydrogel matte screen protector for the inside screen of my Fold 8. I think that almost everyone would love this and highly recommend it. Reduces glare, crease visibility and feels great for scrolling. Also just looks incredible. As much as I hate to admit it, it's the singular feature of the Duo that I'm envious of and it's a great add by Apple, credit where credit is due.

Word of warning: to install one properly is frustrating as hell, order extras and be super patient. Non dust caused bubbles will be easier to dissolve when you heat the phone up a bit with use.

Comes with front protection + screen protector, hinge protection and customizable NFC buttons.

So I’ve had the Z Fold 8 Ultra for 30 days today. Today is the day I have to decide if I want to exchange it for the z fold 8. The fact I’m still considering it tells me to just go exchange it. I don’t care about the camera I don’t care about the extra windows I have 2 tablets a great gaming pc a great gaming laptop and a handheld. This is my phone and the thinner candy bar style has just really been annoying for me. I’m sure the software issues will be fixed with app updates for the lagging and size issues. I use it at night flipped open but during the day it’s usually closed and with a case on it the edges are hard to hit and texting has been a nightmare for me.

It's been almost 2.5 months since getting the zfold8 and I am just about satisfied with the outside home screen layout I added. I tried a few others but I like the minimalist style with just the apps I use the most (I am boring, IK 🫣)

But I could really use some inspiration on the inside home screen.

Right so I’ve always wanted a foldable since they came out but they’ve always been expensive, I have an iPhone, iPad, MacBook and AirPods so I’m in the ecosystem although I don’t really care about cross compatibility I only used airdrop and Samsungs can do that now, I’ve always been interested in tech and done extensive research and I could get the Z fold 8 now or wait ages and try an iPhone duo and probably love it but I used to have a Samsung A series and loved it, I just have a few worries if I get a galaxy z fold 8 and would someone be able to answer them, 1. I’m worried that apps won’t be optimised like TikTok, YouTube instagram and especially Snapchat I would’ve loved to use the inner screen for FaceTime but have seen it’s buggy and you can’t really just the inner screen for Snapchat 2. I don’t know why buy every video I see of the z fold 8 it looks so laggy but when I tried one the other day it was fine
3. Durability- I would buy Samsung care but would I be fine without a case day to day tasks and I couldn’t find how much Samsung care repairs cost
4. I just don’t know if I like the os scaling like I think the front screen feels so cramped compared to the iPhone duo because of the way it’s layed out but I maybe just seen it different because it was in a store and I couldn’t lift it, also I didn’t know the actual tablet would be that small is it worth it for media consumption? 5. I also would’ve loved flex mode but how is it without it

So I’m thinking about changing phones and I’m torn between the Z Fold 8 and the Z Fold 8 Ultra because I like that the Ultra you can use a phone on the daily and all the apps are more adjusted to it, while I like the viewing experience on the Wide since it was a bigger window and little bezels. When texting it’s a hassle since the Wide doesn’t show the last text and I reread texts while I make my reply and I was wondering how media viewing from the front screen looks on both the Ultra and the Wide

When I held the Ultra it felt good but a tiny bit tall while the Wide felt good and I kept going to it and picking it up but I just can’t get over how much screen you lose on the front and the inside with the wide but another plus is when your using multiple apps since the YouTube window is bigger on the Wide then the Ultra

I’m just wondering if I can make the YouTube window bigger like the Wide or if it’s a lost cause there and is there’s a way for the texts to work like the normal phone and about media viewing on the main screen and scrolling instagram and TikTok.

Also it’s not required but having wallpaper engine would be nice and I think would look a bit better on the Wide since it’s rectangle then a square like the Ultra but it would look better on the main screen on the Ultra then the Wide

Battery in Settings shows super fast charger 2.0 connected. This is an official Samsung 60w brick. I know the Fold 8 does not support up to 60w but the charging speed on my S24 ultra is faster.

Battery protection turned off. It was my understanding that at low battery percentage such as the one depicted in the image, is when the fastest charging takes place and as the battery percentage grows it slows down.

Thoughts?

Hey guy, after the new update my z fold 7 looks.like this at the bottom of the screen. Anyone know how I can get the navigation buttons back on the bottom and the row of apps above it again?

I am loving the Z Fold 8, but I use the edge panels. With a protective case, there's a ridge that makes it hard to access those edge panels.

Is there a way to make the edge bar even larger? I think I have it up as thick as possible in Good Lock. It's still pretty small.

I tried cutting the left hand edge off a case I got on Amazon, that worked, but it bothered me me because it was an ooch unsightly (to me only).

Anyone having success and safety with just the samsung case (just the back) and a good screen protector? (I have Dbrand prism right now.)

I've got a Fold 7 1TB, bought from the Samsung store so never carrier locked. It was on Rogers originally, and then now I've switched to Telus (both suck, damn Canadian telco's), and I'm based in a Vancouver.

My phone runs on 5G+ most of the time, and runs like a charm. But in some areas, my phone will drop to normal 5G, at which point I actually get no data transmission at all, it just stops. It will show that I've got full or almost full bars, will say 5G, but it's like I have no data Signal. If I switch my network settings to LTE, that works fine from the exact same location. Or if I go into airplane mode, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on, it will connect to 5g+ if it can, work for a few secs, and then if it drops to just 5G again, no more data.

Has anyone else had a problem like this?
