Constructive Criticism This should not be allowed
Ignoring the dubiousness of the "energy" concept, Duolingo should not allow you to start a lesson if you don't have the energy to complete. Diabolical.

Hi all!
Feeling ready for Halloween? đ Starting October 21, you can dive into Lilyâs Fright Fest and start collecting pieces to unlock a whole lineup of spooky new avatar suits.
Here's how it works:
â˘Hit your daily lesson goal and youâll get a mystery chest! Your goal can change from day to day, so check the event hub to see what you need to do.
â˘Open your chest to reveal one random piece from the collection of 45. If you keep getting duplicates, don't despair â collect 5 duplicates and we'll automatically trade them in for a piece you don't already have.
â˘Each piece helps complete a puzzle. Collect all 9 pieces in a puzzle to unlock a new suit. Finish all five puzzles and you'll get a limited-edition Halloween suit plus 3,000 gems! đ¤
If patience isn't your thing, you can also grab pieces directly with gems (regional and/or age restrictions apply). Once Fright Fest begins for you, the countdown is on: youâll have 30 days to collect everything.
And one last spooky warning: the grand prize is a limited-time treat that wonât return so grab it while you can before it vanishes into the night. đ
Happy haunting, happy collecting, and let us know what you think below! đť

Hi all ,
Weâve seen your posts about your streak flame changing color, and that lit a fire under us to get you some answers!
Hereâs what you need to know:
Weâre currently testing a new system that recognizes longer streaks as your streak grows. This is still in the testing phase, so some of you might see different streak lengths with different colors or treatments, and many of you might not see a change at all (for now) until we decide to expand this experiment to more people. Itâs important to know that this is not a visual bug.
We're hoping this change helps motivate learners to build their streak!

Hello! After a HUGE while, I have completed the French course, I am pretty much comfortable with reading and writing, a bit wonky on hearing (I still have managed to watch a movie with no subtitles) and talking but I personally consider myself pretty good!
Reaching the end grants me so much joy ^^ Finally I can use another language other than English
edit: im already a native french speaker i speedrunned the course

Well I finally did it. I started over 7 years ago and finally finished today. They kept adding content before I would finish. My current streak is 2670 days. And I am pretty sure I lost my streak a couple times in the first two months. I'm dangerous at Spanish now, but not fluent. I guess I'll be spending time doing the Portuguese unit in Spanish from here on out to stack my learning. I'm not sure Duo is the best way to learn but the gamification kept me going little by little.

It used to tell you where you should be in the CEFR score, now it just has an example of what you should be able to do (read a story, watch TV, communicate at work). Are they backing out of the CEFR claim of reaching B1 (in Spanish anyway).

I have to admit short daily lessons have helped me maintain my French skills.

Really frustrating now having only 2 daily quests instead of 3. This is going to be rough if I continue having to do 70 points. It takes away the fun of it for me!

Why do I have a friend quest with a complete stranger? I dont follow him and he doesnât follow me. How is this even possible? I mean I dont really mind but itâs still strange.

Seriously, can someone please explain why the official app (or even the website) doesnât have a simple news/updates tab so we actually know whatâs going on?
âAnd more importantly: why is Duolingo so ridiculously cryptic about literally everything?
âOne person gets a feature today, someone else sees it three weeks later, and half of us never get it at all. Event timers and dates make zero sense, everyone is basically running a completely different version of the app, and there are zero guidelines anywhere. To make matters worse, every single official channel is out of sync: the app does one thing, social media does another, the blog feels abandoned, and the official website is pretty much an empty shell.
âYou check their X/Twitter account and the entire strategy is just farming engagement with shitposts, chaotic memes, and unhinged brainrot. You watch their YouTube channel and spend the entire time wondering what on earth youâre witnessing, until you remember: right, this is the official communication of a multi-billion dollar language-learning company.
âAt this point, this subreddit isn't even just about language learning anymoreâitâs an open psychiatric ward where we all gather to cope with the collective trauma and confusion caused by this app.
âAnyway, this post is my official admission slip. Sending hugs from the padded room. We're in this madness together.

Does it feel to anyone else like Duolingo has nothing but a series of tests with no actual lessons?
I have a hard time concentrating on learning when I am just trying to get the right answer.

I answered correctly but itâs still somehow telling me I have a typo. I hit the âexplain my answerâ button and it told me exactly the same thing. Very odd.
