Anyone in Destin/Fort Walton interested in doing photography walks?

I recently bought a Fujifilm X-E5 and I’m getting into street photography.

I’d love to meet some other people who enjoy going out and taking pictures. Especially people interested in taking portraits of each other, experimenting with different shots, and exploring cool locations.

I’m still learning, so you definitely don’t need to be a professional. Just looking for some photography buddies!

Golf trip first week in November

My boys and I have a long planned 5 day golf trip to Destin for the first week of November. We’re staying in a house about 3 or 4 rows back from the gulf. Although the management company and the golf courses all say the storm damage is limited, we’re a little leery. I’m wondering if anyone who lives locally can give me an objective assessment of conditions.

I realize some businesses were flooded and won’t be reopened by the time we get there. We don’t want to be a strain on the infrastructure if we don’t have to be. Happy to go up to Dothan or something.

Women’s Golf Trip Recommendations

Hello! Looking for opinions on courses in early November. We will have 2.5 days to play. We will play Kelly plantation and are debating between regatta bay and emerald bay for our second day. Our last day we can only play 9 somewhere before we leave and wondering what course to use for that as well.
The Raven and the links course at sandestin are unavailable during our dates.

Curious on thoughts about emerald bay vs regatta and which to choose. I welcome any opinion especially those from other women! Do you find these courses are female friendly? We are two women in our 30s who golf often but are very average.
Thanks for your help!

Grad photo ideas

I’m from out of town and I wanted to take graduation pictures for earning my masters degree (with my iPhone lol) I love the brick buildings around here (we don’t really have those in Alaska!) and I plan to do some beach/boardwalk candids. I’ve been looking up a few historic/older public places around FWB/Destin/Mary Esther, but any ideas from locals? Thanks!!

Was looking for a group to do a fishing charter with

I was hoping to do a fishing charter in Destin while I’m on vacation though the price is a bit expensive. If anyone is interested in going on a charter and splitting the cost I’d be down. I’ll be in Destin the 17-24th so just let me know if you are interested.

I'm looking for a photographer with reasonably priced sunset photo packages. We are 11 adults and would like a group picture and couple pictures. The photographer I booked in April just cancelled. Thanks in advance for recommendations.

Bay Area near Captain Leonard Park

During my yearly visit to Destin I always looked forward to taking my paddleboard out on the bay especially when the gulf is rough. I was always entering the water at Captain Leonard park. It was a bummer this year to see a huge new dock with a ton of new boat slips had been build recently like right next door. It really made tootling around out there way less fun since it has taken up so much of the space out there. I thought I had discovered a special place over the last few years, but I guess I’ll have to look for somewhere new for next year. Any other ideas where? I love going to Grayton beach as well, just don’t like how far away it is. Development sucks sometimes.

Our chest freezer is now the street's freezer

Presenting the official freezer of our street!! Lost power friday night like everyone else but we've got a home battery from the spring (e10, tied into our solar) so the fridge and the garage chest freezer never skipped a beat.

By saturday afternoon two neighbors had asked if they could stash stuff in it… as of tonight it's holding three households worth of frozen fish, a bag of venison, somebody's breast milk bags AND HALF A PUBLIX SHEET CAKE I DID NOT ASK ABOUT!!

Everything's labeled w painters tape/sharpie and i told everyone its first come first served if the battery gives out, it hasn't even come close, the freezer barely puts a dent in it. So yeah, it worked! Our street got off easy on wind, mostly limbs and one fence… hoping everyone closer to the water is doing ok

Looking for an experienced realtor in Destin, FL-complicated estate/property sale

I’m looking for recommendations for a realtor in the Destin/Okaloosa County area who’s experienced with complicated estate sales and properties with multiple family members involved.
My grandmother passed away in 2022, leaving a house that several family members have interests in. Unfortunately, the situation has been pretty messy ever since.
There have been ongoing disagreements about the property, concerns about maintenance and possible damage, and difficulties getting people inside for inspections and appraisals. One family member has a life estate, and there have also been issues involving someone occupying the house.
Several of us are now working toward getting the property listed with an independent realtor, but we’re still figuring out access and how everything will move forward.
I want to be upfront that this probably won’t be the easiest listing. There may be difficulties arranging showings or getting into the property, and we’re looking for someone who understands how to navigate situations like this professionally.
We’re not looking for someone connected to any of the family members. We’d really like an unbiased realtor who can help us determine a fair market value and give the house a legitimate opportunity to sell.
If anyone has experience with something similar or knows a realtor who handles difficult estate sales, I’d really appreciate recommendations!

Insensitive question, I apologize.

Is the AMC / IMAX theater in Destin Commons up and running? The one in Pensacola is down, you can't buy tickets for it, etc. But AMC.com is acting like the one in Destin is up and running.

I've tried calling, but nobody will pick up, and the social media people at Destin Commons just say "check with individual retailers" instead of just saying yes or no.

There is no IMAX in my area, and we're gonna travel a few hours to see a film and I want to know if the theater is really operational.

Mini bikes and police

Do cops really care about mini bikes. I’ve been riding e-bike around and decided worrying about my battery life was too impractical so I decided gas was the best option but I don’t wanna constantly get pulled over I’ve seen kids riding them but wanted to make sure

Any idea when power comes back on?

I’m eating soup out of a can like I’m in the Walking Dead. Dog broke my bottle of hurricane wine, and our corner mart is closed understandably, tonight sucks. Charging my phone for no reason when I have spotty service, and my partner is out working tonight which means a long, boring night ahead of me as a 3rd shift gal with no work for the next two days. Are yall doing okay? Any issues? Our yards and my garage flooded but so far everything has been ok apart from my fence breaking into two. Let me know!

Edit: typo!

How bad is it? Hope you all are doing well.

Not seeing much other than power outage reports. I live in northern MS so not getting a lot of coverage info on damage if any. My parents got got out of town Thursday and their friends don’t have power is all they know so far.

Those of you without power just hang in there, it’s never a quick process.

Am I the only thinking that this guy was an A$shole for doing that in our town while our home, our business and our children was struggling with a hurricane?

Unless he gives some of the monetization he will make out of that stupid stunt to rebuild our town and people struck by the storm is in my opinion a disrespectful and inconsiderate move... I hope I'm wrong

Any info on 331 Bridge and Santa Rosa Beach?

Any info on the Santa Rosa Beach area and 331 bridge? Wanted to know if it’s shut down and if there’s any flooding? Got a report the power was up and Chelco just fixed it. 30 min later powers back out. Also any news on Miramar and the San Destin area?
