Longleaf forests covered about 90 million acres in the early 1800s but were reduced to a mere 15,000 acres of uncut timber by the 1950s. Some of the best remaining examples of this rich forest occur on private properties in the greater Tallahassee area and serve as invaluable guides to restoration on public lands. School Zone Cameras

• Upvotes

Just got a ticket for going 35 on N MLK next to RAA Middle at 3:12 pm. I know school zone speed limits are enforced when the lights are flashing but I swear they weren’t flashing. The person behind and in front of me were going the same speed. I know the elementary school gets out at 2:50 but there must’ve been a malfunction with the light. Sucks that I can’t see it on the video. Stupid money grab.

If voting is disrupted or disputed

• Upvotes

If voting is disrupted or disputed is there a general action that is planned? I’m fully prepared for it mentally but not sure if there is a general plan.

Being the capital of Florida, I know there are a lot of state employees (like myself). I’m currently planning on using all of my leave and striking if that’s the case. Are there others planning on doing the same?

Rave scene in Tallahassee - suggestions

I have been looking for a good rave to go to since moving upstate, and from what I could tell there isn't that good of an underground rave scene as much as there is clubs or even local house shows. It seems like every other week theres a new event at a bar or a house party but in terms of raves the best thing I could do is drive 3 hours out to Jax. Is there something I'm missing? Like some kind of events or insta acc I'm not following? Or are raves just not a thing here at all

Try before you buy office chairs- is staples the only option?

I need a gaming chair or office chair but my brain HURTS looking at the online reviews.

Is staples the only place I can go sit in some chairs and try them out first?

I know Costco will occasionally have a chair but I hardly ever see options at big name furniture stores. Best Buy will sometimes have a few but I’m definitely looking for comfort more than then cool factor.

Do you know of any furniture outlet stores or secret spots that have assembled chairs to try?

Question Family Doctor w/Good Staff

Are there any family doctors' offices with competent front office staff? I have been trying for 3 weeks to get my refill called in and after being assured that it was....well, it wasn't. Tried going to their office in person and the pharmacy still said it wasn't called in. Any office recommendations? Obviously, it would be great if the doctor was easy going/friendly, too.

Hey y'all. Does anyone know where else I can find Cheerwine from a soda fountain besides Cookout and 4Rivers? I love Cheerwine, but going to those two places to get a Cheerwine is getting a little old. Thanks y'all.

Tallahassee Film Festival

I just found out about the Tallahassee Film Festival existing, and I just found out it just happened 🤦

For those who've gone to one, what is the Film Festival like? I've been watching more movies lately, and really enjoying it so I'm curious if TFF is worth it. Is it worth the price of admission, is it different than going to a regular theater? Thanks in advance

Going through a divorce, looking for a local job

I was laid off last week and am going through a divorce. I'm a tech worker by trade, but I've done everything from making pizzas to driving city buses. I'm not afraid of physical labor or standing behind a cash register. If anyone has a suggestion it would be very helpful. I worked remotely for 5 years and honestly look forward to working a job where I actually see human beings on a daily basis. I'm (obviously) local to Tallahassee. Again, any help is appreciated.
