NEW RULE This sub is for people who need help in crypto - Read our rules. Don't post products or services or advertise in r/cryptohelp.

Blatantly advertising crypto products or services in r/cryptohelp is banned now.

This is a new post that we need to make because, in more recent times, people have tried to post about new products or services that are not vetted, inspected, or have zero coverage or known PR presence. In other words, some people are posting about products or services that could be scams to newcomers in r/cryptohelp. As per the title of this post: This is r/cryptohelp. People come here for help figuring out any problems they have encountered while purchasing or investing in cryptocurrency and not buying new coins, buying new products, or subscribing to services.

However, context is important. We explain this below.

  1. If a redditor is looking for some crypto YouTubers that you recommend, you can mention names and that is just fine.
  2. Mentioning of trusted and established brands is just fine. Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, Kucoin, etc. in the case of exchanges is ok, and mentioning hardware wallets like ledger, trezor, coldcard, blockstream, etc. is just fine too. However, referral codes are always against the rules. Do not share these in PMs or in comments.
  3. If your post history makes you look like, walk like, and talk like someone that is trying to spam their youtube channel or product or service, you are likely to receive a ban.

Closing words: We are trying to keep everyone safe with our rules. Remember that almost anyone sending you private messages is guaranteed to be a scammer and do not forget to read our expanded rules here which are not just limited to r/cryptocurrency, but also apply here: https://old.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/wiki/expanded_rules

MOD POST This sub is not for investment advice

If you want advice about what to buy or if a specific token or coin is good, go to r/cryptocurrency’s or r/cryptomarkets’ daily discussions. If you don’t have enough karma to participate there you can earn it easily all over Reddit, or on r/cryptocurrency you can buy a special membership to circumvent it.

Thank you for your understanding

❓Need Advice 🙏 I backtested a rule-based BTC strategy (MACD + KDJ + ATR + Order Blocks) vs weekly DCA, 2022-2026. Costs killed the significance. Looking for critique.

Hi all, my team and I just finished a research paper and I’d really like people with quant, trading, or stats experience to review it and tell us what we got wrong.

WHAT WE TESTED
A rule-based strategy on BTC/USDT 4-hour candles combining MACD momentum, a KDJ entry gate with an adaptive exit, dual-ATR risk sizing (14 and 200), and Smart Money Concepts Order Block detection. We compared it against weekly dollar-cost averaging and lump-sum buy-and-hold from the same $10,000 start.

HOW WE TRIED NOT TO FOOL OURSELVES

  • Rules were set by eye on 2018-2022 charts, then frozen. No optimizer or parameter sweep.
  • Reported window is 2022-2026 (8,767 candles), plus a separate forward test for Jan-Jul 2026.
  • We found and fixed a lookahead bug in two Order Block criteria (it didn’t change the baseline trades).
  • Every number is traced to the function that produced it (Appendix A), and Appendix D lets you recompute the headline figures by hand from the trade log.

RESULTS (INCLUDING THE UNFLATTERING ONES)

  • 27 trades, 70.37% win rate, +30.31% total return, one-sided binomial p = 0.0261. Bootstrap 95% CI on total return: [+5.99%, +54.99%].
  • With a realistic 0.20% round-trip cost, win rate drops to 62.96% and p rises to 0.1239. The significance doesn’t survive, and it hinges on just two marginal trades.
  • Weekly DCA clearly won on final value ($22,313 vs $13,418).
  • The strategy had a higher Sharpe (1.11 vs 0.56) and a shallower drawdown (-6.5% vs -27.9%), but it was in the market only 2.63% of the time, so it’s not like-for-like.
  • Putting 10-30% of weekly contributions into the strategy improved both Sharpe (0.556 to 0.637) and max drawdown (-27.85% to -23.18%). This is descriptive only, no p-value.
  • Forward test: -3.45% over 4 trades.
  • Three trades make up 51.7% of total return, and the edge is concentrated in bull regimes.

WHAT I’D LOVE FEEDBACK ON

  1. Is the train/test separation (visual rule-building, then a frozen test window) defensible, or too weak?
  2. Is a binomial test on win rate plus a percentile bootstrap on 27 trades reasonable, or is there a better approach?
  3. Any flaws in how I handled costs, the Sharpe comparison, or the blended-DCA framing?
  4. Any lookahead or leakage risks I’ve missed?

FULL PAPER (Google Doc, comments open):
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uITFSqdj0iqwA91pXcfSRGGTkWFoQulLYYyRZUcynQw/edit?usp=sharing

Not financial advice. This is a backtest, and the only forward evidence so far is negative. Harsh feedback is welcome. Thanks for reading!

❓Need Advice 🙏 Best and safest way to cash out $100k in crypto in Pakistan?

Hey everyone,

I have around $100k worth of crypto that I want to cash out in Pakistan, and I’m looking for advice on the safest way to do it.

Is withdrawing through Binance P2P a good option for such a large amount, or would you recommend another method?

I am mainly concerned about bank account freezes, AML issues, and receiving payments from suspicious sources. I want to do everything safely and legally without running into problems with my bank or the authorities.

If anyone has experience cashing out a large amount of crypto in Pakistan, I’d really appreciate your advice on the best approach, including any precautions I should take.

Thanks!

❓Question Sanity check on EVM addresses before moving funds off an exchange

Quick question just to make sure I don’t mess this up.

I noticed that my Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Polygon deposit/receive addresses on my self-custody wallet (MetaMask / Rabby) are completely identical.

When withdrawing from an exchange, if I choose Arbitrum One instead of the Ethereum mainnet to save on gas, does it automatically route to the right network layer simply because I picked that network on the exchange side?

Always get a bit nervous on network selection, so want to double-check before doing a test transaction.

❓Question Binance account restricted, and live chat isn’t responding—how can I get help?

My Binance account was restricted after I attempted to send crypto to another wallet. I’m currently unable to trade, buy, sell, convert, or withdraw my crypto. I was told the internal review could take up to 60 days, but I haven’t received a clear explanation or meaningful update.

I’ve tried following up through live chat, but no one responds to my messages. It’s frustrating to have my funds inaccessible without being able to reach someone who can help.

Has anyone dealt with this and successfully gotten their case escalated? Is there an official support channel where I can get a response and an update on my review?

Support case: #143764456

I’d appreciate help from an official Binance moderator or anyone who has resolved a similar situation as the moderator stoped responding to me now. It is very frustrating.

I am the founder of a microlending platform. We help people build credit with very small loans using USDC. Because our loans are so small, we need super low spreads. Because our loans are so small, the volume is small. Avg ticket size is $15. So it's hard to find an onramp offramp. I have tried a lot of onramps and offramps, but they become super unresponsive after I spend hours onboarding and doing KYB.

Anyone know a place where I could go to? We are registered. We have all the documentation. We have users. Thanks.

❓Howto Getting crypto without an Id

So I’ve been learning Memecoin trading for a while now and I think I’m ready to start trading for real. But since I’m 17 and living in Europe I can’t get hold of crypto for the life of me. What are ways I can get crypto without id verification and is it even worth it or should I continue to learn and wait till I turn 18 in 7 months.

❓Need Advice 🙏 Is it dumb to convert ETH to USDT without signing up and just eat the spread?

last month i swapped some eth on a dex for what i thought was isdt. same ticker, same logo, u can buy it and never sell it, 60 bucks and a lesson
the obvious fix is an exchange and i'm not opening an account for this
so this week i did it on SimpleSwap, eth to usdt without signing up and the usdt that landed was the real one. cost me a bit under a percent on the rate, which is the bit i'm chewing on
is 1% a dumb price for that? can't tell if i'm being lazy or sensible
thanks

❓Question Xmr locked in coinbase wallet?

Hi guys.

Yep, I know...idiot move...but I traded ETH to XMR in my coinbase wallet and now I seemingly can neither trade it back or send it as it's an unsupported currency.

But I wonder, if it's unsupported why did the coinbase wallet app let me trade to it in the 1st place?

And is it truly locked and unusable?

Thanks

❓Question Best practice for handling lost 2FA backup codes on a major exchange?

Realized while cleaning up my security settings that I somehow misplaced the backup 2FA codes for one of my exchange accounts. I still have full access via my authenticator app right now, but I want to fix this before changing my phone.

Is it safe to just disable 2FA temporarily and set it up again from scratch to get a fresh set of backup keys, or is that going to trigger an automatic withdrawal lock/hold period? What's the smoothest way to handle this without getting locked out?

❓Question Anyone found a way to convert crypto to fiat without parking it on an exchange?

We’re a small agency and a few clients pay us in stablecoins. Right now our process is: send it to an exchange, sell, withdraw, and wait a day. There’s a fee at every step, and our money sits on an exchange overnight, which I really don’t love. It feels like there should be a more normal business way to do this. Am I missing something , I am abit new to crypto so go easy on me if I am doing something wrong😅?

❓Question Can you spend crypto directly from a self-custody wallet without giving up control?

One of the biggest advantages of crypto is having control over your own funds. But when it comes to everyday spending, it still feels like you have to rely on exchanges or custodial services. With stablecoins becoming more common, I'm curious how people are using them for everyday purchases. Is there a practical way to pay directly from a self-custody wallet without transferring funds to an exchange first?

What do you guys use?

❓Question What’s the safest way to handle crypto dust left over in a hot wallet?

Got a few tiny fractions of tokens sitting in my wallet after moving some funds around, and the dust amounts are too small to swap because the gas fee costs more than the tokens themselves.
Is there a smart way to clean these out, or is it better to just leave them hidden and ignore them?
