I'm a beginner! My second crochet project! I'd like to make some colorful coasters and need some material suggestions and tips
I'd like to make some cute coasters, but since I've only made one amigurumi so far I wanted to do some test first to see if I was able to understand and follow the pattern.
What kind of yarn do you recommend for coasters? I've used dollar store baby acrylic yarn. I think it's 3mm yarn, but it isn't marked. I'd like them to be a bit smaller and maybe sturdier, but since I'm still a beginner I don't want to spend a lot in materials yet. I want to use at least 6 different shades/colours for maybe 8-10 coasters without getting too expensive. In this one I've only used two colours, but the original pattern uses 4.
Also does this kind of stuff need to be blocked? I don't know much about blocking yet.
I think I did a terrible job weaving the ends but since the yarn is a bit fluffy it's harder to tell

Discussion Crochet wings on amigurumi, using a stiffener or not
Hi!
So I'm now designing these little fairies, and have come to my first problem, and it's with the wings. I'd love to hear what you guys think.
So since the wings are crocheted as one layer, they're quite flimsy. I'm was contemplating using some kind of stiffener, like glue/water, I have had success with this on crocheted snowflakes. But then I realized that might give me two problems, one is giving the fairies to my little nieces, they should be old enough to not put the wings in their mouth, but I don't really trust children 😂 The other is that I felt it was a little high maintenance during a tester call, that people will need to go out and buy glue they might not need for anything else. Of course, they will know beforehand what's required, but if there's a better way I wanna find it!
So what do you do with flimsy things like this? Just let this part be a bit flimsy? Or do you have a better method for this?

Looking for suggestions I made this for no reason. If I make a vest/bag with it, what colours or designs could the other squares be?
I'm very bad at like knowing what colours go together or if different motifs clash. I'm thinking brown? But would I do them all this same design or different ones? Maybe different shades of green? Looking for any suggestions at all!

Help to find a pattern Blanket border help: I'm looking for a name or tutorial
Hi,
I'm just wondering if anyone recognizes this type of border and knows a name I can search for. This is the link pattern Basket of Rainbows Blanket but I'm only interested in the border so I was hoping there's some free tutorial out there. Tia.

Can't find a flair for this What caused my granny square bag to come apart in the middle of the squares?
I recently spent the better part of a week crocheting this granny square purse only to have it fall apart while wearing it for the first time. What did I do wrong? Is there a way I can secure the middle of the granny squares for next time? Or is it because I used acrylic yarn? I'd appreciate any advice or feedback. Thank you!

How do I... HELP ME PLEASE !!! accidentally skipped a stitch a few rows back and i don't want to undo my rows to fix it !! What do i do? It is very noticeable as it is on the front of the top !
I made this filet crochet top with the (1dc, 1ch) method !! So i accidentally missed going into the double crochet stitch, is this fixable? How do i make it less noticeable? do i like sew in a line in the middle of the hole to make it seem a bit smaller?

Wearable help I’m making a dress and I need help. I need a pattern
So I’m making a dress. The inspo pic is included. I want to use lace weight yarn but tripled up which makes it like a worsted weight or just a single ply but I’m indecisive. With the single-ply, I don’t think I can finish it within a month because I want it to wear somewhere. I like using the lace weight yarn triple up because it feels almost more fabric-like and doesn’t give that chunky look for making certain clothing pieces. I also used it to make swimsuits and the swimsuits didn’t get heavy, it was light like an actual swimsuit.
If anything has a pattern or knows where I can get a pattern for a dress like this. I’m also indecisive on which hook size to use so I added swatches with 2.5mm, 3mm and 3.5mm hooks tripled up. And also included a swatch made with 2mm single ply.

Wearable help Anyone have any suggestions on making this scarf longer? I’ve used moss stitch
I started making a moss stitch scarf, then realised it’s about half the length I’d like it to be. Would it be possible to just magic circle to continue making it longer? Or suggestions I could add to the bottom are welcome. I know the edges aren’t even, it’s my first time doing this stitch and I’m a bit lost on how to make it even with the alternating stitches😅

Amigurumi help Mini puff stitches are very loopy - what am I doing wrong?
Hi. I’m making a dinosaur amigurimi. The beige part are mini puff stitches. They are very loopy (which might not be the best word to describe it, but English is my second language, so please bear with me).
I’ve tried doing them tightly but they don’t look very good. The pattern describes how to do them (Insert hook into the next st, YU and pull up a loop, YO and insert your hook into the same st, pull up a loop (should be 4 loops on hook), YO pull through all 4 loops) which I’ve done when the pattern says “x MPS”.
Really don’t wanna frog, but I’m gonna do it, if someone can figure out what I’ve done wrong - so I can do it the right way 😊

How do I... Change in wool type and adjusting feeding style or another fix?
Please help me. I was gifted some lovely chunky wool but its not as smooth as regular acrylic wool. With my feeding hand I usually wrap the wool round my pointing finger but with this wool it's not feeding smoothly and I'm having to adjust because it strangles my finger. It's frustrating and breaking my flow and slowing me down!
Anyone experienced this and know how to fix it? I struggle to change my feeding style and wondered if there's another way.
I saw tension rings, does anyone have one? Would you recommend?

Discussion Furls just dropped a mini hook... Pencil holders rejoice?
I LOVE Furls hook however I am a pencil holder and so the neck is a little bit too long and the body does not sit right on my hand.
HOWEVER today, I saw that Furls released a mini! I do not understand the complete ergonomic changes and implications but does this mean pencil holder can now comfortably use Furls hooks? Are there pencil holders that already use Furls hooks and it is me that's the problem?

Looking for suggestions What are your favorite variegated yarns to crochet with?
What are your favorite variegated yarns to work with? I loveeee watching the project shift and change as the various colors of the yarn I'm using become a part of the fabric. This has been one of my recent favorites. It is the Sirdar Jewelspun Aran weight in northern lights.
Made a hooded scarf with pockets from one skein with enough left over to make a little flower tie off to package it.

I'm a beginner! Help with moss stitch. I want to learn moss stitch for dish towels. Should I start with chain or foundation single crochet? I haven’t done moss st nor fsc but want to learn.
Please see information above. I’m fairly new to crocheting.

I'm a beginner! Just learning- turning to chain and counting stitches
I 'm sure this is a really dumb question. When you turn to chain, say a HDC you chain two then put your hook into the third stitch. How do you not end up losing stitches?

Looking for suggestions Yarn suggestions for coraline and wybie crochet doll
Hi everyone!
I want to make a coraline and wybie crochet doll for my daughter. I learned to crochet from a wooble kit and have done hundreds. I want to something else besides a wooble though! But… I’ve never bought or used any other yarn than their easy peasy beginner yarn. So here’s my questions..
What type of yarn should I buy when making something like this? Any brand recommendations? Also what hook size for the suggested yarn?
Also I’m planning on buying one of these Etsy patterns, not asking for the pattern free. Unless you have one of your OWN you’d like to share. Thank you 🥰

How do I... Does anybody know a good method to attach his fur?
Right now its just pinned in place. I was originally going to sew it on, but then I remembered fabric glue which would probably be a lot quicker but he's a gift and I don't want to accidentally mat his fur or have it end up falling off. What would you guys do here?

Help to find a pattern Floral lace-ey stitch that can produce a triangular final product?
Basically I need a pattern/tutorial for a stitch that looks sort of floral,
relatively airy/light,
and either comes with instructions on increasing and decreasing or starts with a single stitch and gets wider from there
It’s for a V neck poncho and the plan is basically to make 2 triangles and partially connect them together leaving a hole for the head

Looking for suggestions Gifts to make for men- need ideas for the holidays
Repost from r/crochet
I have been part time since going back to work after having my son, so my funds aren't as flexible as they have been in years past. Im trying to figure out what I can make for my husband since I have yarn at home/can afford to get yarn for a project. He said he will use/wear anything i make for him but im a loss on what to make him. He has enough beanies, doesn't really wear slippers and is more of a hoodie guy so Im not sure if hed use a cardigan. Any suggestions would be appriciated!! Ive been crocheting for almost a decade so more complex patterns shouldnt be a problem

Understanding a pattern I’m intermediate (now I feel like I’m not lol), I’m making an Appa and I need help understanding the pattern for the legs 🥺
Heyyy everybody! I’m trying to crochet Appa and am using a free pattern I found, but I’m quite confused from the get go…if anyone can help me understand 🙏🏻
Firstly, in the written pattern it’s written 6 SC in a MR, but in the picture there is a count of 7.
SC in the first stitch then a puff stitch, do I do the puff stitch in the same stitch as the SC?
I might be dumb. Pls help.

How do I... How can I figure out a good pattern for the phasing of this yarn?
These are what the granny squares look like from it, I'm trying to see if there's a way to get the color phasing to line up more in another granny square. I don't have a lot of experience with color phasing yarn and I just started crochet maybe a month ago, so any help is appreciated! Thank you 😊
