Would these YJ brake hoses work?
So I'm going to install JKS sway bar quick disconnect links on my Cherokee soon. But I'm also going to install longer brake hoses too. I read online that YJ brake hoses work on Cherokees and they're cheaper than extended ones for an XJ. So I looked on Rock Auto and they have the DORMANĀ H622063, but that brake hose is for raised suspension YJ. The raised suspension brake hose overall length is 24.5 inches meanwhile the stock YJ one is 20.38 inches. So should I get the longer one or stick to the stock length YJ brake hose? And for the one I get would that be enough for my sway bar disconnected on my XJ when it's flexing? I'm already on a 3 inch lift and 31s and my Jeep doesn't have ABS. Also, should I get a line for the rear too? And would those YJ hoses just bolt on and work no problem?

Was looking for videos on 5.7 swap...mostly just out of curiosity...
I couldn't find any quality videos on the swap but mostly just wanting to watch the install process and end result. Is a 5.7 swap worth it? There's cheaper routes for sure (ex. Small block chevys for v8 opitions). But I was just curious to see an XJ swapped 5.7 if anyone knows of any decent clips.

Advice on oil filter adaptor elbow gasket
My 1990 4L cherokee is leaking bad from the oil filter adaptor elbow. I bought new o rings to replace the 3 o rings inside of it. However I can't get it off. Most videos I see online use a T60 but mine just has a standard 5/8 bolt holding it to the block. There is not a lot of space between the elbow and the frame. I have tried to use a stuby socket and just a normal box wrench but the bolt is seized tight. Yes I have used a lot of penetrating oil allready. Dose not help. There is a lot of oil in the area from the leak so I am hesitant to try heat.
I have been thinking of using a few wobble sockets and connecting my impact to it. However, i'm scared of breaking the bolt off in the block. I have been also thinking of just saying f**k it and smearing JB weld over where the elbow meets the block to see it that would stop the leak.
Any advice? Has anyone try JB weld dose it stop oil from seeping through?
Thanks

Rust Repair - Pittsburgh - Looking for Help / Recommendations
Previous owner did a 2x6 rocker conversion, but didn't seal it well. Failed inspection last year and once I pulled those off figured I'd do the floor pans while I was in there.
I have it all cut out and sanded down to good metal, but I've heard mixed reviews on lap joint / tacking it back together given I only have a flux core welder.
Does anyone recommend a shop in the greater Pittsburgh area? Does anyone have the skillset and a weekend day (I'd supply beer, pizza, and whatever else is requested) to help someone who's been struck by analysis paralysis for months?

Randomly losing and regaining battery power (not while driving)
My Jeep (1999 4.0 ax15 4x4) has developed a very annoying and perplexing problem. At random times, it will seemingly lose all battery power after I turn it off to where it acts as if I have no battery. When this happens, I can run the locker compressor but nothing else. No windows, radio, and the key doesn't cycle anything on. No interior lighting either.
I've had to jump it off twice and each time, it doesn't struggle at all and fires right up. Voltage reading is totally normal while running (alternator is good). Here's the weird part - other times though, the power just comes back on. It came back once when I opened the passenger door and then again yesterday while messing with the headlight switch. Sometimes, if I disconnect and reconnect the negative terminal on the battery, it will regain power. Other times, it won't.
The battery was made in 2024 and seems to be totally fine (I haven't really tested it yet). I thought maybe my aftermarket stereo amp was drawing power but that wouldn't really explain why it will come come back at random.
Any thoughts? I'm leaning towards a bad ground somewhere, a failing fuse, or bad battery connectors. I guess the battery could be faulty, too. I'm going to attempt to actually troubleshoot it but thought someone maybe has run into this problem before.

Centering front axle with new adjustable part
Needing some help if you guys think doing this in the air or on the ground is best? Also way you were able to move the axle towards the driver side, I had it settled and centered and parked for a month without snugging it up after a full lift upgrade, and now itās pushed toward the passenger side. Maybe 1.5ā Iād really like to get it ,tits centered, and then Iāll be able to do steering brace with pillow block and crossover but centering is a must before I start driving her again.
Please lmk and Tia

Question Are there different CPS sensors for automatics from 97-01?
I've always thought they used the same sensor, but I'm getting told on Mopar parts sites that certain ones fit an 01 but not my 97. I have a standard 4.0 auto. Can I use these?

Which modern car would you get?
If you were given $50,000 CAD to use to REPLACE your XJ which would you get? Has to be 2020 or newer.
Looking to get ideas for my next car from you XJ enthusiasts!
For full transparency, Iām looking at 2026 RAV4 woodland (unfortunately impossible to get my hands on here in Vancouver BC) and bZ Woodland. Wanted so badly to like the 2026 Cherokee but .. just not a fan.

Replace driver's door lock
So I have been out of town on and off for a few weeks and haven't driven my 99 XJ. I went to take it to the state park with my pup yesterday and the driver's side door lock is trashed. Someone must have jammed a flathead into it. There's nothing of value in the vehicle.
The driver's door lock cylinder is pretty mangled, and the black metal trim surrounding it is bent from where they apparently tried to pry it open. The key still goes into the lock, but it won't operate it anymore. The door trim is bent up badly, as well. It's popped out near the top of the cylinder and depressed at the bottom. Fortunately, the door still locks and unlocks normally from the inside, so I'm hoping the latch and linkage are fine.
A few questions for those who've worked on these:
- How difficult is it to replace the driver's door lock cylinder? I'm reasonably handy and do some of my own work, but haven't messed with the door locks before.
- Can a replacement cylinder be keyed to match my existing key?
- Is straightening the bent metal something I can reasonably tackle myself, or am I better off paying a body shop or locksmith to handle the whole thing?

Question Frame rail repair thoughts
Just wanted some experienced XJ lovers to rate how this repairs going and possibly give some advice. Im using 4" x 2.25" 1/8 steel plate to sit inside the frame rails and extend out to the back, with some 5" plate i messed with the original rear crossmember. This is for both sides with Barnes 4WD hanger replacements, and i plan to bridge the 5" plates with some L bracket to strengthen up the rear crossmember some more. I still need to cut out new gas tank strap pockets in the rear, bumper tie in bracket holes, and of course my gas tank fuel lines in the ledt side.
Of course im sure ill get the "dear god why are you doing this its totally screwed up!" To that, youre right but i can assure you the frame on my daily is worse, this is a project jeep I got in attempt to make more durable and safe. I do not have the money to get a clean body so we're stuck here lol
