No more window tint posts- thanks!

My friends- I get it: vehicle mods are cool, and technically a window tint is a mod (albeit probably not wise to tint your windshield). The thing is... Who cares about window tint? Let's all agree to stop posting about window tint. I think we've beat this dead horse enough and it's causing issues here- resulting in some bad behavior from both sides.

From now on posts about window tint are getting removed and further- threatening comments will be dealt with by via a permanent ban (globally- not just on posts about window tint). We are a relatively rule free place because everyone generally gets the sub trail etiquette but I keep getting valid reports about some questionable behavior and will start taking action to preserve the quality of our subreddit.

Love you all- have a great holiday season!

Recall and updates

Post image

I just brought my 2026 limited Reserve up for a tire pressure sensor recall. When I brought it up there were several other updates for the vehicle which were recommended. Several modules including the transmission module update. These updates can only be performed by the service center. Something you may want to look into. I believe there were three updates besides the recall. Safe driving to all šŸ™‚

Jeep Grand Cherokee Advice

Should I replace the PCV valve and thermostat housing as preventative maintenance?

I have a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee with about 55,000 miles. I recently had the oil filter housing replaced because it started leaking, and I went with the Dorman replacement.

Would you recommend replacing the PCV valve and thermostat housing as preventative maintenance, even if they aren’t showing any symptoms?

Also, are there any other preventative maintenance items I should consider at this mileage to help avoid common issues with the 3.6L Pentastar V6?

2026 GC L Summit

Recently picked up my new jeep and love it. White exterior, Tupelo interior, 3 row, has the 2nd row console and rear entertainment system.

I’m looking to find a protector for the cargo area and seat backs.

Looked at 3W and their website says they don’t fit.

Weather tech doesn’t make them yet.

Anyone know any other brands that do? Would prefer something that actually attaches.

2020 jeep grand cherokee 3.6 pentastar oil grade

I putchased the Jeep certified at 30k miles, i followed the manual and used the ow-20 grade oil, after inspecting the oil filter i notice alot of metal shards in the filter, some very large.. I decided to switch to 5w-30 and after 5k miles, looking at the filter i did not see a single spec of metal in the filter. From now on i am only using 5w-30. Figured i let reddit know if anyone out there is on the fence and not sure what to use.

What could be the issue?

I have a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with the inline 6. Few days ago was running fine until I shut it off and now wont start. Crank, no start, no check engine. Thinking it was a dead fuel pump I changed it still no luck. Went to the ignition coil and crankshaft position sensor. Still where I was from square one. Anyone else have this issue?

89D Rear Coil Spring Recall with no current remedy

My 2023 Grand Cherokee was sitting in a parking lot and the rear coil springs fell off; thank God I wasn’t driving it. It is currently sitting at the dealership and they are telling me it is unsafe to drive, obviously, and if i want a rental it is on me to pay since there is currently no remedy. They service people at the dealership are expecting 6 months to a year for a remedy. By the way it happened the day before i received the email about the recall.

2019 GC Limited 3.6 hit 150k this morning

On the way to work this morning (and yes, getting gas on the way) Black Betty hit 150k miles.

So that means I've got

1) an oil change

2) differential fluid changes

and

3) transfer case fluid change

coming up for me this weekend. Brakes coming soon.

Purchased in Nov 2023 with 92k and it's been my favorite vehicle I've ever owned. I do my own work and it's been great.

Just wanted to share.

I have a older 2010 jeep grand cherokee that has the gutless 3.7l motor with almost 300k on the odometer so my plan is to get a 2009 to 2010 wk or commander and do a 5.7 swap. I have plans to rebuild the motor (part list on my page). it'll be expensive but i think it'll be fun and worth it but the engine build is roughly 7k and im a broke 22 year old but atleast I can do it myself and only half of my tools burnt up in my house!

Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 or V8

I'm thinking about buying a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee High Altitude, but I'm torn between the V6 and the V8. Is there really that big of a difference in fuel consumption?

This keeps happening and gets stuck there. It’s fixed when I turn the car off and back on while on navigation Screen. Buy any idea how to fix? Anyone had this happen? ā€˜23 summit reserve

I've been trying to connect to the TCM with my scanner to see some live data but theres no reply.

Does the TCM only communicate through PCM or do I have the option to just connect to the TCM.

Im not finding much online about this.

Any Grand Cherokee floor liners that don’t leave gaps around the seat rails?

I’m looking for floor liners for our Grand Cheroke mostly because the second row is already collecting crumbs in spots i cant reach without dragging the vaccum hose acros the whole garage.

The factory mats are fine in the middle but they stop right before those annoying little gaps around the seat rails. I tried a flat rubber set from another SUV for a week and it was honestly worse because the edges lifted and gave dirt even more places to hide.

anyone who has bought liners for a Grand Cheroke, is coverage around the seat rails the main thing to look for or should I be more concerned about the edges curling after a few months??

Need advice on Vibrating Jeep Grand Cherokee

Hi all, looking for advice here as I am pretty novice to cars and pretty much zero knowledge on cars.

My mom bought a used 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6 V6 Limited X with about 110k miles a month ago. However shortly after buying it we noticed it vibrates and has a rough idle after a couple minutes of just warming and there is this rattle noise coming from the engine. I have took it to 4 mechanics now and at a lost on what to do. The car is showing no computer codes or engine lights. However according to a couple of the mechanics they said the computer codes were erased.Ā  Below is what each mechanic has told us.

Mechanic 1: Performed diagnosis and said he believes it is the camshafts and rocker arms. However not entirely sure and would need a $1,000 to perform compression and cylinder leak down test to pinpoint the exact issues and if it is the camshaft and rockers it would be about $2,000 to fix.

Mechanic 2: Said he is unable to work on the car as the problem is coming from inside the engine and whoever had the car before us messed up the engine and computer system too much.

Mechanic 3: Said it is coming from inside the engine as well and is a valve problem. He wouldn’t work on it as it would require taking the whole engine apart.Ā

Mechanic 4: Performed compression tests and said cylinder 3 and 5 have low pressure about 84 PSI. The other cylinders are working fine. He said he was able to getĀ  the car to run smoother by cleaning up some stuff. He said the car seems to never have been maintained or well kept. He said there are two options either do a full tune up and replace all the spark plugs, two ignition coils, change the cabin filter and some other stuff for $1,200 and hope it takes care of the vibration but not the engine noise or replace the engine for $6,500. He also showed me that the engine vibrates/move a lot itself while parked.Ā

Would greatly appreciate any thoughts or advice on this matter. I am not sure if the last mechanics recommendation would even tackle the problem. My gut is to go with the first mechanic but the $1,000 price just for the tests is throwing me off.
