Ive been wanting a winch for when I'm solo wheeling but every winch bumper I've seen sticks out a foot and just dont look good imo. So break out the welder, and scrap plate I've been saving up and made something that keeps the low profile that I was wanting. Plasma cutter helped so much but don't mind those ugly cuts 😭. Ties into the uniframe with 8 bolts per side. Winch relay box wires passed through a factory hole on the rail to the winch and up through the inner fender to the battery. About an 18h project start to finish. Bumper mounts at stock location without needing to be spaced out

Any good phone mounts out there made for the xj? What brands do yall like? Tried a generic vent clip on one from the dollar store and it wouldn’t stay on. Thanks!

So my new to me XJ is slowly improving, a 2" lift (the suspension was completely shot - much rustier than I expected given it's life by the sea!) and today new tires, the difference is really amazing ... Next up it seems I have a slight vibration which I think might be the U joints as they seem to be also original and I can barely see them for the rust! Enjoying ownership so far, a smile on my face every time I drive it.

Hi all, I just found a 1999 2.5l cherokee not to far away from where I live. It has got 81k miles and no major issues or rust. The price is 3,5k before negotiating. I use public transportation a lot so I’m planning to use it mostly for camping/overlanding trips.

Does this seem like a good deal for a first time car owner?

I have a 88 Cherokee and I need some help finding solutions for storage and some cup holders in the seating areas there’s nowhere for phone, wallet, water.

I would like to get your opinion on this crack I've got on 6th piston.

All other 5 pistons seem healthy, what would your move be? Change only one piston of all five together? Bore's have never been machined and I would keep it that way which means I should get STD size piston/s? I can reuse rings?

On second picture, from inside the piston. This straight line isn't a crack right? I have it on all other five pistons on both sides.

This noise has been happening since i’ve owned the jeep. Been running for ~2k miles.

‘98 XJ 4.6 NP231 Automatic 3 1/2” lift 33’s Got the Jeep back today with the new stroker installed. It cranks instantly, idles smoothly and runs great! At first crank we immediately ran it up to 2250 rpm and held it there for 25 minutes to break in the cam & lifters. I drove it for five miles or so, squealed the tires a few times lol and took it back to the shop for another check, slight leak from rear main seal but everything else looks fine. Drove it home & I’m very pleased with its highway manners…no more hunting for the right gear, cruises at 75 with ease, has plenty of power! Tryna keep my foot out of it for the next 500 miles….

My wife and I visiting some family in another state in her 2001 xj very soon and, conveniently, it decided to start making noises. She came home one day and told me it pretty violently shudders when reversing and makes some clunking noise around the transfer case area when shifting. When I tried to figure out was going on, I heard the clunking while shifting but also heard noise coming from the transmission (in the video).

I really want to figure out what's going on so we don't get stranded on our road trip but I have no clue where to start.

I have a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo with 255,233 miles recently I did a summer oil change with 10w-30 oil after a long move and towing with the jeep. Well I moved from the deep south on the beach to high up north where the El Niño will hit. Last year here I was told it hit -12 for much of the winter and will likely be this low the coming winter. Well my manual says to run 5w-30 in the winter. Which oil should I run? Do I use full synthetic or do I need a high mileage full synthetic oil?

Finally able to take it out on some decent trails. Its doin real good!

Axle side. I have a Rubicon Express trackbar and the axle side hole appears to be a little ovalized. Any bushing kits to go to say, a 9'16" bolt instead of the standard, 1/2" bolt? I'd like to drill it out a size bigger and call it a day. What are ya'll doing in this case? I don't have access to a welder right now...

Been searching everywhere for answers on stance for my jeep xj(stock as of now) attached is 2 pictures of different builds i really like. I DONT PLAN ON CUTTING FENDERS OR CHANGING BUMPER. The gray one is a 4.5" lift on 31's, not sure of the offset but wanna know and im gonna keep researching to find out. If anyone wants to guess what it is, please do. The red one i like more is on a 6.5" lift and 33's. Eventually i wanna reach the look of the red one, but i think the 4.5" on 31's is the better choice currently cause of cost and labor(also new to jeeps). If anyone has clean builds like this or has any suggestions on wheels(want some american racing bullet holes) or anything please lmk. The lift will be rough country no matter what, wheels and lift size is my main problem rn. I either wanna do 3" or 4.5". I really want this to look good.
