My 2018 grand Cherokee that I’ve owned since 2022 with 57k miles on may of suffered from Rod knock based off the 2 diagnosis I’ve had. With my final payment on this vehicle being in January, I am torn between fixing this or selling as is and having to walk back into a 5 year finance plan or lease with a new car and higher interest + insurance.
I had 3 quotes from 3 different shops for a complete jasper engine replacement and was quoted around 12.8k and one for around 10.5k with a 3 year 100k warranty on the new engine. Those quotes are all in for the engine, labor, and miscellaneous.
Any suggestions?

I installed a 2019 UAV stereo unit in my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit, along with the heated-seat wiring harness from infotainment and the USB module
The unit initially powered on and worked, but I had three issues:
The reverse camera wasn’t displaying.
The passenger-side heated and ventilated seat controls weren’t showing up; only the driver’s side was available.
After leaving the vehicle off for a couple of hours to see if the system would initialize, the screen went completely black. However, I can still hear music playing when my phone is connected.
It’s been about three hours since I plugged it in, and the screen is still blank.
**My questions:**
How long does the unit typically take to initialize or come back online after installation?
How can I get the reverse camera working?
How can I restore the passenger-side heated and ventilated seat controls?
Do I need to use AlfaOBD to configure or enable anything?
I have an OBDLink EX and an AlfaOBD subscription, but I haven’t used them yet because the unit initially powered on.
I’ve attached a picture of the unit. Any advice on troubleshooting or getting everything working properly would be greatly appreciated!

Hey everyone! I’m looking for some advice from anyone who has experience diagnosing the 4WD system on a WK2 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk.
I have a 2020 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with the 3.6L V6 and Quadra-Drive II, and I’ve been chasing a few issues lately. I’ve done quite a bit of troubleshooting but haven’t nailed down the root cause yet.
1. Service 4WD / Transfer Case Issues
The main issue is a persistent Service 4WD warning. I’ve also had a Service Electronic Stability Control message.
I replaced the transfer case control module (TCCM) with a brand-new OEM Mopar unit.
I replaced the main battery after experiencing an extended-crank/no-start event. The Jeep started immediately after the cranking stopped, but replacing the battery did not resolve the 4WD warning. I originally scanned the Jeep with an Autel/ICON scanner and later started using JScan. The Jeep drives normally, but I’m concerned that the fault may be preventing me from shifting into 4WD Low.
2. Diagnostic Codes
My original full-system scan showed these drivetrain-related codes:
Drive Train Control Module (DTCM):
C1477-4B — Transfer Case Clutch Over Temperature
C2110-12 — Sensor Supply 1 Voltage, Circuit Short to Battery
C2221-00 — ELSD DTC Present
Electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD):
C148F-1D — Rear Differential Measured Motor-Circuit Current Out of Range
U0414-00 — Implausible Data Received From FDCM
U1450-00 — Implausible DTCM Torque Message Received
ABS:
U0403-00 — Implausible Data Received From Transfer Case Module
These were reported as stored codes on the original scan.
3. Electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD)
I’m beginning to suspect the rear electronic limited-slip differential actuator or its wiring may be involved, but I don’t want to throw parts at it without understanding the problem.I located the eLSD actuator motor connector and tested the connector. My testing indicated that it was good.
I used JScan to access the eLSD module and record live data. The eLSD data repeatedly reports “ELSD permanent error position open.”
One of the live-data readings showed requested servo motor current of approximately 4.53 A, while actual servo motor current was around -0.42 A. Requested and actual servo motor positions also appeared to differ.
I’m not sure whether these readings point toward a failed actuator motor, an internal differential issue, wiring or power delivery, or a control/communication problem, and I’m about to lose my damn mind.

I’m looking at a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited X 4x4 with the 3.6L V6 The Carfax shows the camshafts and valve lifters were replaced at a Jeep dealership around 78k miles Intake manifold gasket replaced around 97k miles, Thermostat housing and thermostat replaced at 116k and oil changes every 4-5k miles. I really like the Jeep and want to daily it for my commute.
My main concern is the engine repair and whether it’ll be reliable at this mileage.

I am at a loss and I’m hoping someone can help me here. 98 grand cherokee started to develop a shaking idle and a slow wandering rpm needle over a small range. I have done everything at this point. Every sensor is working. Checked tps, iac, cleaned throttle body. Checked for vacuum leaks. Strong vacuum in the 20s. Plugged every vacuum line no change. O2 sensor is new ntk. All sensors mopar. CPS good. Entirely new ignition system from plugs to distributor assembly to ignition coil and wires. Can’t locate an intake leak. This happens in open loop and closed loop. I changed out motor mounts and transmission mount 3 weeks ago. Motor mounts OEM, cheap anchor transmission mount. Transmission mount bushing already torn. Jiggle pcm - no change. Fuel pressure primes to 49 and holds steady for 5 minutes. Upstream o2 doing its job. CAT is absolutely fine and not plugged or below efficiency, yet the downstream o2 sensor is behaving strangely, moving around between a range of .2 and 1 but not mirroring upstream. I discharged capacitors and put pcm in relearn mode last night, and now my eval purge is ticking extremely loudly nonstop, but plugging the vacuum line - no change at all. My rpm needle wanders slightly and slowly- not valves - and the idle is rough. Live data on all my sensors looks good other than downstream o2. No rocks in cat, ran without o2 sensor installed in case of plug - nothing. Also - when I put it in reverse in a cold start I am getting a strange whirring noise coming from below my feet around the transmission/transfer case area but it quickly goes away and doesn’t return until cold start. 5v reference line is good at least at the map sensor. I am out of ideas.

Could anyone tell me why my coolant hoses are deflated? Drove it this morning came out to do an oil change and noticed the main coolant hoses are sucked in. Jeep has not been over temp in months, coolant reservoir is topped off I have not opened the radiator cap just yet.

I saw a really clean Grand Cherokee build down the street tonight, and it made me feel guilty about the state of my own. I went camping over the weekend and it rained the entire time. Now the floor smells like a wet basement because I assumed the factory rubber mats would catch everything, but they didn’t.
Water pools near the door sills, and mud gets ground into the carpet around the edges. I need something with a proper lip so the mess doesn’t slosh around when I pull away. I’ve looked at the OEM liners and a few fitted aftermarket sets, but I mostly care about whether the edges curl over time and whether the material stays flexible in winter.
If you’re constantly getting in and out in heavy trail boots, does edge height matter more than cold-weather flexibility? I’m tired of scrubbing the same spots after every trip.

Hey guys! I've been looking at my coolant recently, and I wanted additional opinions. I can't tell if it's dirty/contaminated or it's fine. Please ignore the residue on the side of the reservoir, it is left over from an oil filter housing replacement that has been taken care of, the shop just didn't clean out the reservoir tank that well, I plan to replace the reservoir. Do you guys think it looks clean or reasonably dirty for 7000 miles of use?

I have a 2026 Trax. Got a good deal. Won't lose any or very little money trading it in but I would like more of a vehicle. The one I am looking at is a 2023 with 32k miles. No b2b warranty but CPO for 7 years and 100k miles. It is the laredo so no leather but has heated options with tow package. What issues are people having?
I know a ton of hate for these dodge/jeep/chrysler but I do have a 2014 Chrysler 300 with 150k miles on the 3.6/ZF transmission, same as this Grand Cherokee. Haven't had any mechanical issues other than the Oil Filter Housing.

I am new to the JGC world, and the 3.6.
I've been in an F150 for 6 years so I don't really know what normal is here.
These are my operating temps at 55-65 mph in 62° weather.
Does anything look unusual or out of the ordinary? The coolant temp never exceeds 197°.
I love this thing already after only 1 week.

As the title says, the Engine Auto Start-Stop does not shut the engine off at a complete stop. Granted, it’s turned off when I think about it but, having it not function how it should is concerning on a 25 GC.
My ‘19 C TrailHawk did that for a bit, then the battery died.
Should that really be a concern on a 25 GC?

If your bearings go bad, save yourself some time and buy a hub buster tool. I tried every other trick I could find online and this is what finally worked. It's very rewarding though when the grinding noise immediately disappears.

Hey everyone!
I'm hoping someone here has experienced something similar and can help me figure out what's going on with my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee High Altitude (3.6L V6).
I've been dealing with some strange electrical and Uconnect-related issues lately, and I'm trying to determine whether they're all connected or if I'm dealing with separate problems.
Here's the background:
A few weeks ago, I had my alternator replaced. Around that time, I started experiencing problems with my SiriusXM satellite radio and GPS/navigation system.
Initially, SiriusXM would display messages like "No Signal – Contact Dealer" or "Acquiring Signal", and sometimes it wouldn't connect at all.
The GPS/navigation system also had trouble acquiring a signal. Eventually, the GPS started working normally again, but the SiriusXM issue never completely went away.
Current SiriusXM symptoms:
- SiriusXM works intermittently. Sometimes it works perfectly fine for a while.
- Suddenly, without any obvious reason, it loses reception.
- The screen displays "No Signal – Contact Dealer."
- Sometimes the signal returns on its own.
- AM/FM radio works perfectly fine.
- GPS/navigation appears to be functioning normally now.
What I've investigated so far:
I've been looking into the shark fin antenna, satellite antenna connections, coaxial cables, and the possibility of a Uconnect head unit issue.
I haven't replaced the antenna yet because I don't want to start throwing money at parts without identifying the actual problem.
Here's where things get interesting:
I'm now experiencing battery problems as well.
The vehicle is having trouble starting, and it appears that the batteries are no longer holding a charge properly.
I'm planning to replace the batteries today, including checking the main and auxiliary batteries, hoping that the SiriusXM/Uconnect issues might have been caused by unstable voltage or an underlying electrical problem rather than a defective antenna or radio.
Since the alternator was recently replaced, I'm also wondering whether the charging system, battery condition, or voltage fluctuations could have contributed to these problems.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that replacing the batteries will resolve everything, but I won't know until they're replaced and I can test the system again.
My questions for the community:
Has anyone experienced intermittent SiriusXM signal loss on a Grand Cherokee with Uconnect?
Has anyone had SiriusXM or GPS reception problems related to a weak battery, failing auxiliary battery, or unstable voltage?
Could the alternator replacement or an electrical issue have triggered problems with the Uconnect system?
Has anyone replaced the shark fin antenna or antenna cables and successfully resolved this exact issue?
If you've experienced similar symptoms, what ended up being the actual cause and fix?
I'm particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has experienced these symptoms together, rather than just a SiriusXM reception issue by itself.
I'd rather troubleshoot this properly than start replacing the shark fin antenna, radio module, or other expensive components unnecessarily.
I'll update this post after replacing the batteries to let everyone know whether it makes a difference.
Any advice, troubleshooting suggestions, or firsthand experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance! 👍

I just copped this on Sunday. It has 218k miles was well maintained and recently got a new starter in it before being sold to me.. My only thing is it’s high mileage I wanna know what problems I should look out for like is it any common issues that I should expect after 200k miles on this bad boy? Also, im about to install a new radiator b/c the one that’s installed now busted🥲 lol but yeah. Let me know any common issues I should look out for.
P.s has electrical issues the abs lights pops up on and off but car still drives smooth no affects or anything what could fix that problem?

Fixed boards are less complicated, but they don't always make getting in easier for shorter passengers. Powered steps tuck away when the doors close and drop down when you need them, though the motors and hinges add more things that can go wrong.
I'm trying to decide which makes more sense for daily driving, especially when it comes to long term reliability and upkeep.

Bought a 2026 Limited Reserve 4x4 yesterday. I feel like we got a really good deal on it, leased for 3 years, no money down. Negotiated the money factor, cap cost, mileage. Only thing they would not budge in was the residual. Anyhow, excited to be a part of the Jeep family. Hope we have 3 years of trouble-free driving in this! BTW, how weird is it that when cycling through the radio presets, there's no way to go backwards through them?
