BIIGGGG shout out.

To the fine fine gentlemen in the grey charger that was being an absolute menace going down Dorchester Rd from North Charleston towards the peninsula (I turned off at 526 going towards James Island)... It would be a complete and utter shame if someone with some authority followed you the entire way with their dash cam rolling, capturing your plate, every single car and truck you ran off the road, and the absolute wild speeds you were going. Even more so, it would be even worse if that info was already sent over to people who just HATE that type of thing and will be taking care of it in their own wonderful manner. Fingers crossed no warrants or probation either cause lorddddd, the charges that will be read off that new arrest warrant will be soooo fun to listen to.

Rant I feel that...

I feel that if you get into the left most lane and drive under 70, we should be able to rocket boot our fist so far up your ass, we can host a puppet show starring you. I dont mean when there is good amount of traffic, just like in general. Have it posted next to the state law signs that say Slower Traffic stay right that so many people ignore.

Hello everyone! So as the name entails I'm looking for a birthday's dinner restaurant idea for my gf (tomorrow). She doesn't really have a favorite food but I know she likes Chinese and "authentic mexican" food. She's from Michigan she says little Mexico was her favorite place in Michigan. Looking for something hopefully dine in. I was going to go chef loong dim sum but they are closed on Tuesdays. Any ideas would help even if it isnt exactly chinese or mexican food. Thanks!

Is this true about Charleston? Would you say the dating culture for single women is really bad here compared to other areas?

For reference I’m (25F) from up north in a college town and am setting up to move down to Charleston for work and to be closer to the beach. One of the big things I also care about is dating because finding a relationship from my hometown was pretty rough. I’ve asked before about the dating culture down there and got some pretty pessimistic answers. Do you guys think it is true and it is really rough down there? And if so what advice do you have for me if you can give it? I’d really appreciate any insight or help

It's been there almost every time I've flown out. For training? Just always looks so suspicious, yet lonely out there.

Help me add a new plane fact to my fun facts catalog!

Rant FYSA - Funeral Traffic

A gentle reminder regarding funeral traffic:

If a funeral procession is accompanied by a law enforcement officer or escort vehicle using flashing emergency lights or sirens, motorists must yield the right-of-way just as they would for any emergency vehicle. You must also follow any direct commands given by a police officer managing traffic.

For example, this Sunday while we were all stuck on Hwy 61 waiting for a funeral procession to pass, you blowing your horn at us because traffic was backed up was a complete waste of your energy. We all can't move until the cops let us. We're all stuck buddy, so take your white pickup's horn and shove it up your ass.

Mex1

When did Mex1 cut out the free chips and salsa? I can live without being able to order individual tacos without sides (platter with side is apparently now standard) but the lack of chips and salsa is a real bummer.

Charleston County Thanksgiving to go or eat out

I don't feel like cooking this year. Who does an easy package take out meal or a family friendly dining out? We have some food allergies to work around and I am trying to avoid having to make 3 versions of everyone's favorite sides.

“The Union is Dissolved," an 1860 South Carolina Civil War broadside published in the Charleston Mercury announcing SC’s secession from the union sold at RR auction on Oct. 14 Reported by Rare Book Hub.

Catalog notes for Lot 469, Sold by RR Auction on Oct. 14. It sold for $15,344. High presale estimate was $4,000

Rare original broadside from the Charleston Mercury newspaper, printed in Charleston, South Carolina, on December 20, 1860, 12.75 x 23.75, announcing South Carolina's repeal of the Constitution of the United States and the state's secession from the Union.

The text reads, in full: "EXTRA: Passed unanimously on December 20th, 1860. AN ORDINANCE / To dissolve the Union between the State of South Carolina and other States united with her under the compact entitled "The Constitution of the United States of America."

We, the People of the State of South Carolina, in Convention assembled, do declare and ordain, and it is hereby declared and ordained, That the Ordinance adopted by us in Convention, on the twenty-third day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty-eight, whereby the Constitution of the United States of America was ratified, and also, all Acts and parts of Acts of the General Assembly of this State, ratifying amendments of the said Constitution, are hereby repealed; and that the union now subsisting between South Carolina and other States, under the name of "The United States of America," is hereby dissolved.

THE UNION IS DISSOLVED!

Affixed to a slightly larger cardstock mount and in very good to fine condition, with repairs to edge tears and intersecting folds. Printed as an "Extra" edition of the Charleston Mercury, the nineteenth-century equivalent of a breaking news bulletin, this remarkable broadside announced one of the defining political events in American history.

Shortly after South Carolina's Secession Convention unanimously adopted the Ordinance of Secession at 1:15 p.m. on December 20, 1860, the Mercury rushed this special edition into print.

The ordinance repealed South Carolina's 1788 ratification of the United States Constitution, making it the first state to secede following Abraham Lincoln's election the previous month and setting in motion the secession of ten additional Southern states, the formation of the Confederate States of America, and, less than four months later, the outbreak of the Civil War at nearby Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor.

According to the consignor, this example descended through the family of Philip Augustin Clayton, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury of the Confederate States of America, passing from his granddaughter, Mary Weems Clayton, to her son, Ronald Rogers of Atlanta, Georgia, who received it as a gift from his mother in the 1960s

North Charleston Used Car Shopping

• Upvotes

I am interested in people's experiences when shopping to purchase a used vehicle from one of the many options in North Charleston and the Tri-County. AutoMAXX, Dealerships, Small Car Lots. Who to avoid, actual good places??

I am going to be looking soon, and would like to know more about the area and car sales because I lived elsewhere last car I bought.

Beerfest tips

Going to Beerfest for the first time and I was wondering if anyone had tips on what to expect?

I’ve gone to one in Charlotte and the Charleston one looks a lot larger. Any tips on how early to get there? Waiting in line looks brutal from what I’ve seen and I want to be able to maximize 3 hours I paid for.
