What This Subreddit Is About

We’ve heard feedback from all sides and are working to find a happy medium that keeps this subreddit useful and enjoyable for everyone. As the sub continues to grow, we know things will evolve and change, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we adapt.

📌 Special Posting Rules

International Posts – We Appreciate the Support, But… 🌍🤝

We love seeing support for Canadian products from people around the world! However, this subreddit’s primary goal is to help Canadians find and discuss Canadian-made products. Over time, international posts—while well-intended—have started taking up space that could be used for local discussions and recommendations.

To keep the focus on Canadian businesses, international posts are only allowed on weekends. Posts from non-Canadians sharing support or asking for advice will be auto-removed on weekdays. This helps keep the subreddit useful for its main audience while still welcoming international voices in a structured way. We have a new flair for these posts which should be used.

Tariff & Policy Discussions 📰📈

Discussions on US-Canada trade policies, tariffs, and their impact on Canadian products are welcome. However, general political debates (e.g., Trudeau vs. Poilievre, partisan arguments unrelated to Canadian businesses) should be posted elsewhere. (Other subreddits linked below)

Posting Rules & Guidelines

✅ Allowed Content:

  • Posts about Canadian-made or Canadian-owned products and businesses.
  • Questions like "Looking for a Canadian alternative to [X]?" (use the Looking For flairs!).
  • Reviews of Canadian products and services.
  • News directly related to Canadian businesses, tariffs, or policies affecting Canadian production.
  • Discussions on US-Canada trade policies and tariffs that impact buying Canadian.
  • Self-posts discussing Canada, the importance of supporting Canadian businesses, or sharing personal experiences. (Note: Duplicate or low-effort posts will be removed.)

🚫 Not Allowed:

  • Boycott posts (e.g., "I refuse to buy from [company] because it’s American") – this subreddit is about supporting Canadian options, not just avoiding foreign ones. If you are looking for a Canadian alternative, this is perfectly fine. If you're just looking for a place to discuss boycotting the U.S., check out r/BoycottUnitedStates instead.
  • General political debates (e.g., Trudeau vs. Poilievre, partisan arguments unrelated to Canadian businesses).
  • General world tariff posts that do not affect Canada – tariff discussions must be relevant to Canadian businesses or consumers.
  • Unverified claims about a product’s ownership – please provide sources if you’re discussing a company’s Canadian status.
  • Self-promotion or spam without prior mod approval. We have a monthly Self-Promotion Megathread stickied to the top of the subreddit for posts like these.
  • Duplicate or low-effort posts (e.g., "Why isn’t everything made in Canada?" or "Canada sucks because of [X]").
  • Memes, music and most YouTube videos – Many have been off-topic or low-effort and are usually removed. (News videos covering relevant topics are fine.)

Before Posting – Use the Search Function! 🔎

Most products, alternatives, and links have already been posted in the past 30 days. Please search first before posting a new thread. Duplicate posts will be removed to keep the sub organized.

Yes, We Know Reddit is an American Company. Stop Posting About It.

We’re aware that Reddit is an American platform and that alternatives exist. However, this subreddit was never about boycotting America—it’s about supporting Canadian products. Reddit is also the largest platform for reaching people worldwide, which makes it the best place for this discussion. Please don’t derail threads by bringing this up repeatedly.

Canadian-Made Products 🏷️🇨🇦 Macausland's Wool Blankets

Anyone looking for a 100% made in Canada wool blanket should check out Macausland's woolen mill.

I visited the mill this this morning. At one end of their facility the raw wool goes in and at the opposite end high quality blankets are woven. They have an online store (https://www.macauslandswoollenmills.com) and their blankets are beautiful.

Hi, I come in peace as a frustrated american. Somehow we managed to buy Canadian steel for one of our projects.

I don't know the mill that produced it, but there it is in full maple leaf glory. At least 4 pieces of 10" x 10" x 3/8" each 20 ft long.

Just know we are not all shitheads like our leaders are.

Also........help.

Looking For: Clothing, Accessories & Personal Care 👕💄👜🍁 Women’s size 13 winter boots

I bought some Kamik boots in size 12 and they’re just too small. Are there any companies out there with women’s size 13 boots? I don’t mind buying men’s boots but I’d prefer some women’s just for the sake of them looking nicer. Prefer to stay under $150 but will to pay more for the right pair.

Canadian-Made Products 🏷️🇨🇦 Appreciation Post - RONA Stocks Canadian-Owned and Canadian-Made Products

I'm a novice DIY-er at best and get mild anxiety walking into big box stores. My local Home Hardware closed down, so I've been looking for a local and reliable alternative.

I know RONA is American PE-owned now, but I was surprised at how many Canadian-owned and Canadian-made products I found in a 10-minute trip to the store.

Rona's website has a "Well Made Here" / Made in Canada section linked here with nearly 10,000 products. I also learned today that brands like Bosch, Kohler, and Siemens manufacture specific lines right here in Canada!

A couple 🇨🇦 brands to shout out:

  • Master Plumber - replacement bath and plumbing parts company with HQ in St. Thomas, ON
  • SamaN - low VOC interior/exterior wood stains HQ in Victoriaville, QC and products are made in Canada

I picked up a few items as well as a set of Canadian-made furnace filters.

Thought I'd share for anyone needing to make a trip to the hardware store.

Canadian-Made Products 🏷️🇨🇦 Canadian Gourmet cheese

Post image
96 Upvotes

I have a soft spot for special cheeses, and end up spending far more than I should on them. My favourites are Gruyère AOP, Compté, Dubliner and Manchego. Mind you these are all European cheeses.

Last weekend, I was visiting family in Burlington VT, and we decided to drive around Southern Québec to appreciate the Fall foliage (they are kind of too green in VT still). We ended crossing the border and headed to the Bromont area. In there, we came across this hidden gem called Fromagerie Brebis de Bromont.

I gotta tell you, their Reserve du Berger is one of the best cheeses I ever tried. And this is coming from someone who spent weeks trying all cheeses I possible could while visiting France and Switzerland.

I’m not sure we can easily find their products readily available elsewhere but you can order online. If you are ever in the Estrie region in Southern Québec , pay them a visit, I assure you won’t regret it.

They have a little shop with a variety of gourmet products, all local, all of excellent quality and reasonably priced.

Tonight I’m enjoying their amazing Reserve du Berger, knowing it’s an 100% Canadian product, makes it taste even better.

Looking For: Hobbies & Lifestyle 🎮⚽ Canadian producers of natural fiber cordage?

I'm looking to do some decorative rope work/macrame. I am looking for natural fiber cordage like jute and hemp in a variety of thicknesses. I'm looking for a bit more variety and in bigger quantities than what I can find in my local hardware store. Does anyone know of any Canadian websites shipping to BC?

Looking For: Clothing, Accessories & Personal Care 👕💄👜🍁 Short parka/winter coat?

Hi all,

I'm looking for a really good/warm winter coat and would like to support something made in Canada if possible. I have a pretty nice MEC-brand parka that I've had for many years that's holding up great, but the challenge is that I started using a wheelchair last year and long coats that cover my butt/thighs are great when standing but EXTREMELY obnoxious to get on and off in a wheelchair.

I'm looking for something windproof/waterproof and reasonably warm with a durable solid shell (not a puffer coat) that would come to maybe hip length, or shorter in front and slightly longer in back. Ideally not too bulky if possible since I have to have good range of motion in my arms. I don't mind having to add a thin layer underneath for extra warmth some days if it keeps the bulk down day to day. I expect the sleeves to take some wear and tear from friction on my wheels, working on some options to try and cover/protect them but thin or fragile outer fabric ain't it.

I'm also just a little guy, usually mens XS but I don't mind buying womens stuff as long as it isn't a really feminine design/cut. Willing to shell out for something good quality but would prefer to stay under $500 if at all possible. I realize finding something perfect may not be possible and there will likely be some tradeoffs but even just finding something the length I need has proven difficult. Any suggestions for Canadian (or at least not American) options much appreciated!

Looking For: Clothing, Accessories & Personal Care 👕💄👜🍁 Anybody ever order from RetroKid?

I want to order an XL male t-shirt from Retrokid for a gift but I can't find comments on their sizing. Did anyone order there before? Are their sizes accurate as compared to shops like H&M, Walmart..? Should I order a size up or down? Thanks!

Looking For: Home Goods & Essentials 🏡🛏️🍁 Buying my first bed!! Where from?

I'm looking for a good mattress (a queen), bedframe, and all of the accoutrements - sheets, duvet, bed protector etc. I've been having really poor sleeps on my tri-fold on the floor and I think it's time to move on from my minimalist lifestyle - my health seems to demand it!

... but I want to so it right by getting as Canadian I can get with it!! Any recommendations? Specifically, I am located in BC's lower mainland.

Canadian-Owned Businesses 🏢🍁 Freeze dried fruit snacks

I just received my first order from Crunchy Orchard in Quebec, a small family run business.

I bought their berry bundle and a single bag of the banana.

My husband and I tasted all of them and they are great. Not something I'd eat a handful of alone but will be great on oatmeal, chia pudding or some yogurt.

Great flavours and satisfying crunch.

I think the coupon code I used was CRUNCHY10

I have no affiliation with this company I just wanted to share my review.

Looking For: Clothing, Accessories & Personal Care 👕💄👜🍁 Looking for women's graphic tees

Post image
75 Upvotes

For years, I've been buying women's graphic t-shirts from Curbside Clothing, a US-based company (including the exact shirt in the picture). I like that they have a few different shirt styles for women, including their "dolman t-shirts" as pictured above.

I've been trying to look for a Canadian graphic tee brand, but everything I find is either "unisex" tees only (ie: made for a male body, but don't get me started...) or looks suspiciously AI and cheap.

Ladies, where are you finding nicely cut graphic tees in Canada?

Looking For: Services & Shops 🛒💻 ISO Custom neckties for large orders

A few years ago I got custom neckties made for my workplace. People are starting to ask me for another run of the ties. Problem was the company I went with was in the US and so if I do it again I want to keep it Canadian.

Looking for a company that will print the custom fabric and make the necktie, not just screen one face of the necktie and leave the back side stark white.

Looking For: Clothing, Accessories & Personal Care 👕💄👜🍁 Looking for recommendations for cocktail dress designers

I am getting married early next September and we're having a more casual wedding celebration. I don’t think I want to wear a full wedding dress, but I still want it to be something special. Looking for recommendations of smaller Canadian designers / shops where they may sell some cool, unique dresses.

Located in Toronto, but open to any businesses across Canada!

Some of the details:

  • Dress code is TBD (depending on my dress, lol) but likely cocktail attire
  • We're having a celebration at a cocktail bar in the city
  • White is not mandatory - open to other colours
  • Ideally midi or floor length
  • Price: aiming for less than $1K (willing to go up to $2.5-$3K)
  • I'm a size 16-18, hourglass figure, so brand would need to have plus size / larger options

Questions ❓🤔 J.B. FIELD'S "WOOL WEEKENDER" 96% MERINO WOOL SOCKS

Anyone own J.B. FIELD’S Wool Weekender socks (96% merino wool)?

I’m thinking of buying 3 pairs mainly for lounging around the house. I prefer clothing made from natural materials, so I was impressed to see these socks are 96% merino wool.

For anyone who owns them, how’s the durability? Do they hold up well over time, or do they develop holes or wear out quickly?

They have a store in Toronto that carries them, but I live about an hour away, so I’d love to hear some feedback before making the trip.

General Discussion 💬🇨🇦 Canadian sci Fi, the other Stephen King

I recently came across Stephen King (not the other one). You can search by Stephen Graham King. he writes queer sci Fi what I will call capers and I am so impressed. I read the first in Souls Blood series and am reading Chasing Cold now. They're not too smutty. They're imaginative, interesting, and kind of easy reads. I'm sort of in love and I want to share because I do love to read Canadian authors and this has been right up my alley.

enjoy <3

Canadian-Made Products 🏷️🇨🇦 New pair of Canada Western boots!

Post image
308 Upvotes

Just got them today, ordered from red heart about 9 days ago, not bad going from Alberta to southern Ontario.

First impression is they are very high quality and the leather is very thick and durable looking!

To be honest the sole feels a little hard compared to my Bucks, and blundstones, but I think they just need to be worked in. This is also my first pair of good year welt boots too, so maybe that has something to do with it, who knows.

These are going to be my around the house work boots, I think I’ll still use Bucks for actual work, bc it’s my understanding their soles are more waterproof due to it not being a good year welt like the Canada westerns.

Either way I’m impressed and hoping these last for a long time! Also shoutout to red heart for the free mink oil and making sure I got my sizing correct before mailing.
