[UPDATE]: Weekly thread will now occur monthly. All other rules apply.
This thread was created SOLELY for the purpose of posting/promoting your (or someone else's) music video, band, playlist (Spotify, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, etc), or other music project. This includes links to youTube videos, etc.
Previous Discussion threads can be found HERE.
The reason for these monthly promo threads is to prevent this sub from being overrun with redundant youTube videos, Spotify, Soundcloud links, etc. Remember: we are primarily a DISCUSSION-based subâ as a rule of thumb, this sub was created for the purpose of encouraging community discussion about Canadian music, artists, festivals (photos or articles), or the Canadian music scene/music industry in general.

Growing up, as a very young kid I toggled between the  radio stations of CKLG and CFUN and went to sleep every night listening to them for an hour.  To quote The Powdered Blues Band, I had and Iâve always had âThirsty Earsâ.
Impossible to pick my most cherished/impactful for Bruce Cockburn or Neil Young album: their back catalogs are far too amazing and robust!
Very muddled to pick the â9 albums that formed meâ: I waffle back-and-forth between picking albums (1) I listened to all the time when I was much much younger, versus (2), albums that really stuck in my mind because I listen to them a lot when I was younger as they ârolled off the pressesâ, versus (3) all around extra extraordinary albums, like the Tragically Hipâs greatest hits album âYer Favoritesâ.  Canadian music offers a vast âembarrassment of richesâ!
1 - Bruce Cockburn - Dancing in the Dragonâs Jaw/ Charity Of Night / O sun O moon / Breakfast in New Orleans Dinner in Timbuktu / Circles in the Stream / Dart to the Heart / Joy will Find a Way
2 - Sarah McLachlan - Funding Towards Ecstasy
3 - Neil Young - After The Gold Rush/ Harvest / Harvest Moon
4 - Joni Mitchell - BlueÂ
5 - Blue rodeo - Lost Together/ Five Days in July / Tremolo / Outskirts
6 - Cowboy Junkies - Trinity Sessions
7 - Be Good Tanyaâs - Chinatown
8 - Doug And The Slugs - Cognac and Bolognia / Music for the Hard of Thinking / Slugcology (a greatest hits compilation)
** Spirit of The West - Labour Day (edit - I forgot about this album, but I listened to it on heavy heavy rotation when it first came out and absolutely adored it!!!) or Hit Parade (for the song âGoodbye Graceâ)
9 - Gino Vannelli  - Brother to Brother
10 - The Guess Who - Track Record (1988 Greatest Hits compilation, but without any BTO)Â
11 - Tragically Hip - Yer FavoritesÂ
12 - Daniel Lanois - AcadieÂ
13 - The Kings - Amazon BeachÂ
14Â Â - Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill
15 - âOh, what a feelingâ - 1996 compilation of Canadian singles in honor of the Junoâs 25th anniversaryÂ
(somehow it feels wrong to not have a Trooper album here too)
edit : added spirit of the , their album Labor Day, when it came out, I listened to it on a cassette in my car constantly and then bought the CD to keep listening when formats changed. The song âTake it From the Sourceâ was prescient and beautiful. Other songs of theirs, âThe Crawlâ, and âVenice is sinkingâ are great, but not on the Labour Day album as those would come later.

Arranged by release year because ranking them would be impossible

I just found a cover of Turn Me Loose performed by Amanda Marshall and it's wonderfully faithful to the original. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcTpinjdbWY Normally I don't go in for overly-faithful covers but this is hitting just right this morning so I figured I'd share. Plus we've got everyone and their dog posting 9 albums postings so i figured some different discussion would change things up.
Anybody got some kickass Canadian covers they are grooving to these days?

I wanted to add a Guess Who in here, but the great songs are spread across many albums. I am probably missing a few

Archspire and Last Retch are getting played on repeat over here!
Edit: Guys, I didn't mean to imply that all of these albums were metal. I just wanted to highlight the two that were, since I didn't see much metal representation on other people's lists.

These aren't currently my "Favorit" albums, but the most impactful. Each of these has played an important part of my development, whether for morality, spiritual or artistic.
To this day, these 9 albums are all 100%, each and every single song, in rotation in my playlist. (exept Echo Other, there are a few fillers in that one)

I still don't feel like this is even its final form, but limiting it to 9 albums is so damn hard. I really nearly put Skinny Puppy on here, which probably would've taken Ayria's spot, but it's hard to replace Jen and the impact her music has had both on the scene and on me. (Not that cEvin and Ogre haven't too)
