Hi everyone,
Almost 7 years ago, I made a spreadsheet of almost all the mens online stores in Australia, based off a list from /fa/, which currently lives in the sidebar of aMFA. I've now updated it, as well as added additional information (shipping fees, number of brands/products stocked, location etc.) to be a more useful resource, and also removed the shitty 4chan slang.
Why? I think Mens shopping in Australia is far behind the rest of the world - there are so many great, quality brands in the world, many of which receive a spotlight on MFA, but often only a few stores in Australia stock them. There are also loads of great Australian brands, and new ones launching, that are also impossible to find. I've also included a few major international sites that ship to Australia, but note the shipping price.
Why have I ranked them by tier? As many great stores exist in Australia, there are also loads of low quality chain stores that permeate every Westfield and Stockland. I'm hoping to bring light to some of the smaller, better shops to support them in this trying time, however I appreciate some of the opinions are quite subjective.
This Reddit table looks like shit! Sorry that's not my fault - I've published the excel version here, which includes even more details on each store (ie. what brands they stock, how many products they have online, etc.)
Where's X store? Let me know any shops I've missed, I'm sure there's a few I haven't covered. I've tried to make this exhaustive, but I've also purposely left off quite a few dadcore clothing (Gazman, Sportscraft, Rodd & Gunn) and boring shoe (Aquila, Windsor Smith) brands.
Before I get into it - there's a few interesting facts I've noticed when compiling this data:

Use Paypal to facilitate these transactions. Gifting is fine, but understand the limits and liabilities of sending an unprotected "gift" to a seller. You'll save a bit of $, but it does leave you exposed if there is a fraudulent seller.
Another option is to use Grailed. You have the Paypal protection for both parties with much lower fees for the sellers. You also get a profile that shows the total number of transactions so you can use that as your proof of trustworthiness.
Please try to evaluate the "fair market value" of your items. No use in overpricing things and having them not sell. Check what the current selling price is on eBay to get a decent sense of FMV.
Feel free to ask for answers or pictures about an item you are interested in. A good seller will always be willing to answer you in a timely matter.
On the other hand, be a good buyer. Respond to the seller's communication, and be truthful about your intentions. Nothing is worse for a seller than answering a bunch of questions about fit and details, and then the potential buyer dropping off the map.

I like t shirts made of the same fabric as the heavyweight culture king's shirts, my main problem is I can't find shirts for plus sized dudes that have nice tight neck sections they always stretch or show too much skin for my liking.

Good morning Aussie well dressed men.
I’m struggling to find a store where you can actually physically try on higher waisted pants, with side adjusters in lieu of belt loops. I have seen so many options online but with mixed reviews on responsiveness, quality etc I’m wary to try them.
Has anyone had any success with online or in store purchases for this kind of pants? (Think European summer, French Riviera with a light shirt kind of style)
Thanks!

My socials are flooded with American apparel, but the example online vary in quite differently in fit/ cut although they are the same type/style of tee. Some are fitted nicely whilst others are boxy or very big.
Has anyone purchased anything recently?

A year ago I decided I wanted to design my own brand based in Sydney Australia, and have just launched our first collection of these contrast stitching tees. The first one is a white tee with mint green twin needle stitch and the second one is a navy and cream contrast tee. The style of our tees are twin needle stitching contrasted around base and sleeves, and a single contrast stitch around the collar. Our neck tags also carry on the same theme. We have already made some sales, but I’d love to get peoples opinions on the design or the brand, and also get some more exposure too!
The Instagram handle is @sandoonaus (this is best for product photos as I can’t attach images here) and the website is sandoonclothing.com is the website.

Been a long time since I’ve been in the dating scene and have a first date coming up soon. Dinner and some drinks, not ultra fancy but not at a shitty pub either. Late 30’s dad trying not to look like a bum haha

Any recommendations for quality smart casual sneakers for work? Common Projects come to mind but feel the quality isn’t as great as hyped up to be online.
Would love any alternatives/recommendations.

Hi all,
I am sure this topic has been asked and discussed a million times in this subreddit but I need to ask yet again.
What is the best fitting T shirt that we can get in Australia?
I am about 5'10, 67kg. I have wide shoulders but small waist.
Not overly muscular but I go to the gym and am fit.
I want something that feels comfy and light, fits nicely around the shoulders with the sleeve nicely hugging the arms without being too tight. Not too long and not too wide on the waist. A nicely sewn neckline that is not too restricting or too high. Something that looks nicely made that can possibly be dressed up and worn with a nice jacket or suit.
I understand that this is a lot to ask for lol.
Here are a few that I have tried, I always get size medium:
Wayver - this is my go to for awhile, they fit nicely around the shoulders and arms.
However, I found that recently the quality has gone down a bit, some are a bit too thin and some are a bit too tight even though theyre the same size and also found the neck line a makes it looks cheap sometimes? 7/10
Australian Stitch - I love the quality of the material, however, the neck line is way too high and because of it, it does not create a nice silhouette. The arms are pretty good but I feel the waist is just a tad too wide. I know the material is good but sometimes it looks like an undershirt instead. 6/10
Uniqlo - Too boxy, unflattering silhouette. The material is okay, nothing special at all. 4/10
Country Road - nice materials, somewhat pricey for what it is. The sillhouete is a bit too baggy for my liking. 5/10.
Can I get recommendation and feedback of brands that may suit what I am looking for? Preferrably Australian made but if highly recommended, happy to look for overseas brand.
From what I can recall, usually AS Colour, MrSimple, IloveUgly, whitesville and a few others get recommended here as well. I've also keen to try the custom made Citizen Wolf shirt but their neckline looks really thin? I'd like to hear thoughts from those who have gotten t shirt from them.
Happy to give your recommendation a try. Cheers lads

Hey everyone! 41M here, looking to make some new friends and get more involved in Sydney’s underground fashion and creative scene.
I’m into alternative fashion, streetwear, punk, emo, hip-hop, alternative music, photography, art and pretty much anything outside the mainstream. I spend a lot of my weekends exploring Sydney, checking out markets, vintage shops, exhibitions and events, usually flying solo.
I recently discovered SURPLUS Sydney 2026 and realised that’s exactly the kind of community I’d love to be part of. Would be great to meet like-minded people, make some genuine friendships and get more involved in the scene.
Keen to find people to check out events with, go thrifting, grab coffee, explore the city or just hang out. If there’s already a group doing this sort of thing, I’d love to join!
Not looking for anything romantic, just hoping to expand my social circle and meet people who share similar interests.
If this sounds like your thing, drop a comment or shoot me a DM!

I have lost 40kg over the past year and want to reshape/redesign my wardrobe properly.
Looking for stuff that LASTS, not shit fast fashion that feels flimsy, stretches out, develops a bacon neck or loses its shape after a few washes. Happy to pay more for good fabric, construction and longevity.
I am Melbourne based. Ideally I’d like to try things on in physical stores, but I’m open to online options too. Good customer service and sensible returns matter as well.
Would love recommendations for brands and specific ranges/models in these categories:
Track pants and matching tops/hoodies (Active wear and lounge wear): Like the clean Alo aesthetic for everyday wear, but Alo’s customer service reviews for melb store have put me off. Want substantial fabric that holds its shape and doesn’t pill easily.
Plain cotton T-shirts: Considering PRESICS. Want some weight and structure, a neckline that stays in shape, and something I can wash and dry without needing to iron every time. Prefer a clean, fairly fitted/regular silhouette. Holding shape absolutely important and not flimsy crap.
Linen shirts and trousers: Like the relaxed but structured linen look in COS photos. Want fabric with some body and a clean drape. Cotton-linen or other blends are fine. Some natural linen wrinkles are fine; want to avoid thin, floppy fabric that becomes a crumpled mess immediately.
Polos: Similar requirements to the tees — substantial fabric, collars that hold their shape, good wash durability and minimal ironing. Mostly plain/subtle designs.
Non-iron work shirts: Looking at Charles Tyrwhitt. Usually worn with chinos or trousers. Keen on alternatives with good fabric and reliable non-iron performance after repeated washing.
Casual button-up shirts: Like ASKET’s understated style. Want fabric that holds its shape and looks presentable with little maintenance. These are for casual wear, separate from formal work shirts.
Chinos: Again, like the ASKET aesthetic. Want a clean shape, decent fabric weight, minimal ironing and something that doesn’t bag out at the knees or fade quickly.
Jeans/denim: Quality everyday jeans that hold up to regular wear. Mainly looking at black and dark indigo, with a straight or gently tapered fit. Considering nudie jeans as an option.
Most of my bottoms will be black, followed by navy and cream/off-white. Work outfits are shirts with chinos/trousers; casual outfits are tees or polos with jeans/chinos.
Especially interested in firsthand experience after months or years of wearing and washing, including any particular ranges to avoid. Which items have actually earned their price?

I was browsing TK Maxx a while back and chanced upon some linen shorts. I didn’t realise at the time but when I looked up the brand, it’s a luxury American one. What I love is that the fit is just perfect, it’s tight and loose in all the right spots, and my absolute favourite feature is the drawstring which doesn’t go all the way around. Instead, it attaches at the back on each side and there is some built in elastic in the waist band at the back only. So you can tighten the drawstring, and still get the benefit of that elastic for a little give. All my other shorts with drawstrings go all the way around and so when you tighten the drawstring, there is no give.
I have barely taken then off since!
Looking at their website, it seems they don’t really do shorts anymore, it’s suits, pants and shirts. Which are very nice but out of my price range. Or rather, perhaps I would pay for some nice pieces if I was there to try them on. Having to ship to Queensland from the USA for companies with no easy returns is not appealing.
Are there any brands in Australia that actually have such thoughtful and elegant designs?

Finally on top of the dad bod and now the arms and shoulders are starting to pop, back to my early twenties weight.
What are dads recommendations for fashion these days?
I feel like this market is totally missed. Country Road, Gazman are ok - but they are so boxy and you swim in them.
Does anyone recommend those online sites for tailored Tees and fashion?
I have some stuff from La Haute - which is ok.
Ideally would prefer a physical store. Not after the cheapest, just good quality - but not going to pay Calibre prices.

Feels like a stupid thing to post about but it’s been in my head for a few weeks now so figured I’d ask here
Three years ago i was the most junior person in the room and i bought whatever was on sale at djs because honestly no one was paying that much attention to me.
Things have changed quite a bit since then. I’m in client meetings now, i’m usually the one presenting, and I’ve got people reporting to me which still feels a bit weird saying out loud
what actually made me notice the suit thing was being in the lift with one of the partners last month. I caught us both in the mirror and just thought, oh. His suit actually fit him. mine kind of just hung there. It didn’t even look like it was cheap or anything, it just looked like i’d borrowed it from somebody and never got around to taking it back
And yeah, I know clothes probably shouldn’t matter that much, but in my job people make their mind up about you pretty quickly. I’m starting to feel like I still look like the junior guy even though I’m really not in that position anymore
So I’m thinking I’ll get one good one now and maybe add another in six months, rather than going out and buying a few average ones at once. Probably around $1500 to $2000 to spend. I’d be wearing it four or five days a week so it needs to actually survive that without looking wrecked
Where did you guys go for yours? Honestly I’m more interested in whether it held up and whether you ended up going back than whether the place has a nice website
Also for anyone who’s gone through the whole “got promoted and suddenly my wardrobe doesn’t make sense anymore” thing, how did you handle it? Did you replace everything gradually or just bite the bullet and do it all at once.

I’ve got a couple of gala events coming up and need to buy a black suit.
Lately I’ve found Calibre fits my body shape really well off the rack, but I’m going broke buying from them all the time.
Politix has some decent discounts at the moment. I’ve bought linen blazers from them before and been happy, but haven’t tried their suits.
Who else should I be considering for a decent off-the-rack suit at a reasonable price? Happy to get minor alterations, but don’t want to dick around with made-to-measure or a custom suit.
For context, I also love SABA shirts, so Calibre/SABA probably gives you an idea of my taste. Based in Adelaide if there are any local recommendations.
Anyone tried both Calibre and Politix suits and can comment on the fit and quality?

I don’t wear suits to work, only weddings, and I have tried on the suits I’ve got and I honestly hate how they look now. Tapered leg that gives me war flashbacks to the skinny jeans era.
I bought these from Venroy but unfortunately the jacket is too small and they don’t have a medium in stock. Anyone got any suggestions of something similar? Doesn’t need to be THAT baggy.
Do I need to just get it tailor made or does anyone think there’s some off the rack I could pull trigger on?
Any advice appreciated 🙏🏻

Where can I get tees, both short and long sleeve, that are flattering?
I’m a middle aged dad bod, and flattering for me means:
Structure through the body: fabric that has some weight to it and hangs cleanly rather than outlining your shape.
Neat, narrow sleeves: I have relatively slim arms.
Rich, saturated colours: Blues, especially a bright petrol or ocean blue, rather than navy, dusty blue or pastel. Charcoal, rather than black or light grey. Solid colours only, no prints or patterns or logos.
I used to have a favourite supplier. Every single shirt I own is from Pearler, other than collared shirts and exercise gear. In summer, round neck tees in charcoal and a range of blues and greens. In cool weather, a long sleeve Henley in oceanic blue that sets off my eyes so well I get comments. If you’ve ever had an attractive woman comment on your shirt and your eyes on first meeting you will understand why I rushed out and bought a set of them.
But Pearler stopped making the Henley, and the oceanic blue, because of course they did. And now their entire website has disappeared and they’re about to launch something different so I expect the tees are lost now as well. Some of my current shirts are starting to show some wear and tear. Those eye-catching long sleeves are only going to last so much longer.
Where do I go now?

My husband has 2 tees made in Japan. They are heavy cotton, a nice beige off-white colour slightly wider cut than usual, and one has a sexy Egyptian art graphic all over inc across the seams (not disjointed by the seams) another has large rough kind of hand painted mushrooms on it. I know, crazy and sooo cool EVERYONE goes ‘cool shirt’ when he wears them. I’m sick of tees with the print in the middle that are boring. Help me find cool designer stuff. Willing to pay $150- $200 for quality. The brand he has doesn’t exist anymore.

Any suggestions for dark brown narrow formal belt for these dark brown CNES Derby's I recently picked up? Looking for good quality leather. Preferably less than 100.
Will generally wear these with a navy suit or chinos.
I currently have a Aussie made farage belt in a mid brown which is far too light. Need something much darker to match
