Advice on composition

This is just a sketch right now! but I mostly do character art and don’t have much experience doing full scenes. I’m looking for critique on the composition and the value planning! I’m just not sure if it’s readable, and if the composition is creating interest and leading the eye where it needs to go.

To give some context the background is basically some huge animal skeleton that’s been partially buried in the ground, and I added a little stream running thru just bc it felt empty😭

I don’t have any specific references I was working from, just a combo of a bunch of different pics for the horse, man, and skeleton.

Thanks!

Any feedback on the perspective, especially of the model?

Hey guys, look, I decided to do the BG before the character this time lol. I've been following this reference loosely (honestly, I follow a lot of my references loosely) but it took me 400 tries to get the perspective down because I think it's a bit 4P perspective or 5P, the reference, but I just went with good ole simple 1P to make the buildings and their corresponding windows. My question though is if the model has good proportions? I redrew the BG so many times so the original building's perspective was much sharper so not sure if the perspective should be like the model from the reference or somewhere in between?

Depth and Shadows

I’m struggling with how to improve depth in my shadows, whenever I crosshatch it looks messy, even when done at a narrow angle and I don’t understand why the first sketch appears to have somewhat less depth than the second despite it’s simplicity. (I have also tried just compacting lines closer for darker but I find this makes the shadows look inconsistent.

No reference is provided. Focusing on hatching and line technique.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Need Critique for a pice of work done in Krita with an XP pen

I am an indie author and refuse to use genAI. I paid a cover artist for the cover, but with all the costs involved in publishing the book, it was the only art I commissioned. I decided to try and create a piece of art to market the book, and this is it. It's a banner piece for the zon. It is missing some text, which will go on the right-hand side. I used to paint a lot, but digital art is new to me. This was done using Krita, an XP-Pen, and reference pictures from Pexels, used as reference only, not incorporated into this image, and I also took a class on how to use Krita. With that said, I think it looks ok, but it's missing something. I am looking for critique on how i can improve the piece to make it pop. If it's helpful, its for a fantasy book. Any type of critique (colors, composition, etc.) is helpful. Thank you!

Feedback on composition and making it "Pop!"

Hey fam ! I'm working on this commission for a video game cover art, it needs to have a eye catching, splash art quality, Would love any kind of feedback but specially, composition, lighting and "vibe" feedback that would make it "PoP!" more and feel, "eye candy" like. This is a rough sketch, including a rough title version. Thank you !! No reference, this is from imagination and the reference thing is irrelevant to my feedback needs.

Criticism on value, composition, and how to make more interesting?

Hello! this is just a sketch for a drawing i will then print onto a linoleum block. . Later on i will make the proportions good i just want to get an idea down. I want the feeling of this peice to feel like an old art history type painting where there are lots of details going on that all tie into the story. I want something to do with how the lambs on the left feel safe with the hunter, as they kinda “shun” the unshaved lamb on the right. I tried just getting down some values i want to aim for since it will later be carved and printed?

No reference

Tips for the composition, values, and frankly, how to make it look more interesting?

Light Help

i’m experimenting with different styles of illustration and i’ve been playing with night-light. my medium is Posca markers. I especially struggle with light from things like vending machines, hence the practice. Are there tutorials that yall like to learn this technique? How can I add more contrast and depth to pieces like this, especially with Posca’s limited color palette?

I didnt use any references, just went by vibes for the light

Hi! I'm working on a sticker pack, but I've run into a few issues—specifically with a goat character. I have the general proportions of the characters mapped out, but I can't quite figure out how a goat would walk in that style, which direction its legs should bend, or where its hip actually sits. I'm open to any kind of feedback or critique!
