News PSA: ATT is not in good standing with AAA / Impacts arbitration section of ToS

Thumbnail reddit.com

The linked post describes it much better than I could, but the tl;dr is that you and ATT both agreed to arbitrate with AAA, under AAA rules.

ATT appears to intentionally not be complying with AAA rules in an attempt to force arbitration into a friendlier venue. It is likely that a court would consider this a violation of the arbitration agreement, allowing a lawsuit or class action to proceed. The AAA letter specifically says that under the AAA rules, the parties are free to go to court for resolution.

Obviously, if you have an issue consult with a lawyer, but this may be a window for those with claims who want to avoid the arbitration requirement to do just that, if they move quickly.

Hi I have 6 lines on my account on the original premium unlimited I was comparing to the premium 2.0 I was under the impression that it should be 40 dollars for the plan but the plan tool is showing that it would be 36 is that accurate or a glitch.

Wireless ATT Protection vs Apple Care?

I’ve never had a healthcare or anything like that on my phone before, but I pre-ordered the duo and I think it’s time. AT&T protection seems kind of expensive. The rep told me it was like 25 bucks a month. I think Apple cares 10. Why is AT&T so much more expensive and is it actually that much better?

Wireless Do affiliates get commission when opening a new line on a family plan? Where can I report an affiliate?

A GOOD affiliate. This lady was a rockstar, and totally contrary to my 20+ years of dealing with cell phone stores.

She handled a "shared upgrade" on my family plan, got me a Duo, arranged the lines and installments appropriately behind the lines, didn't give me BS or force-sell me any crap. Just an outstanding employee.

  1. My youngest daughter will be getting a phone this December. I can easily do this online, but if she'll get commission I'll go to the store.

  2. Where can I go to send higher-ups some praise about this lady?

Discussion iPhone duo

For those of you like me who got lucky and were able to order off the site for a 10/23 pickup or delivery from Best Buy, how was your experience? I wanted to make this thread so we can update and communicate with each other because historically BB has been bad from what I read. I was able to submit and pay for my order around 9:30 EST after carrier authorization issues. I got a 512 star white for pickup on 10/23.

Discussion iPhone canceled order

I ordered an iPhone 18 PM back on Oct 2nd, due to not being shipped yet and a local store having the one I wanted, I cancelled the order. When I went to the store to purchase it, it is now showing a claim for the phone. Does anyone know what the issue might be?

Other anyone order an iphone 17Pr and having to wait two weeks for an update?

i ordered an iphone 17pr end of september. the guy at the store said it should ship in two days and that just has not been the case. been two weeks now and today was the last day estimated to ship but it still says “Preparing to ship.” called and got in touch with an agent who basically said “technically” they have till the 19th this month and to “please be patient with them.”

i was intentional with getting the 17pr because i don’t really care to have the latest and greatest gen (been riding with a 13PM the past 5 years and had no issue up until battery degraded and charging port started failing) and i wanted a lower monthly payment. you would think it’d be smooth sailing getting what’s technically considered old gen once the 18 came out. curious if anyone is in the same boat waiting on a 17

Wireless Next early upgrade on Duo

So for giggles I popped on AT&T to check out the Duo pre-order. I was planning on eventually ordering, but was surprised to see they would allow me to make a $216 payment to upgrade early. My upgrade will be “vested” in March. The $216 equals the next 5 payments. I thought what the heck I’ll upgrade early. Got to checkout and saw that delivery would not be until mid-December, so 2 months from now. In December I’ll only have 3 payments left. Would they refund some of the $216 since I won’t be getting the phone 5 months early? I’ve never done the Next Up before so I have no experience. My original plan was to wait until March so will most likely do that. I tried chatting with ATT but the wait was going to be over an hour. Anyone experience a similar situation and how did it go?

Wireless Att order through Costco app

I recently placed an order to transfer four lines from T-Mobile to AT&T through the Costco app. During the entire process, I was directed to an AT&T page with a Costco banner on top (still within the Costco app), and I simply followed the steps and submitted the order.

After submitting the order, I called the AT&T/Costco customer service team to confirm everything was good and that the Costco promo was attached to my order, but they said they could not actually find my order in their system and suggested I contact AT&T customer support directly.

If this helps: my order number started with “23-,” but I have heard that the correct Costco/AT&T order should start with “99-.” Is this normal? Has anyone had a similar experience?

My main concern is that I will not get the Costco promo. Should I cancel the order and reorder by stopping by one of the Costco kiosks or calling their sales line instead (though I have read that does not always work well)? Thank you for reading this and for your insights.

Discussion iPhone Handoff

I know that AT&T has publicly stated that they are not going to support the new iPhone Handoff feature at this time, but I was posting to see if anyone has heard any rumors or has any inside information about whether they will.

I really want to try out the iPhone Duo, but also want to keep a “regular” iPhone and alternate between the two depending on my daily use case. I’m sure I could do some contorted eSIM swapping as needed, but that seems like a hot mess to deal with.

I’d even pay for another whole plan if I could use the same number on both.

What's the most efficient way? Corporate Store visit or call/chat?

Here's a break from the pre-order moaning.

You're welcome.

Wireless Shipping Address Issue

• Upvotes

I've been an AT&T customer for decades and for the last 12 years have lived on an island of the East Coast of the US. The only mail/delivery service is either a USPS Postal Box or a UPS store Box address.

I just tried to upgrade a phone and when I try to enter my UPS box mailing address I am told that isn't a valid address. Going to an AT&T store for pick up is unrealistic, especially when I have received multiple phones and devices from AT&T delivered to this same address over the years.

What can I do from here?

Wireless upgrading or trading in devices with financing

Should i make a deposit or pay bill first? I was told by rep to try again in a few weeks, i want to shoot for the 18 but not sure, 1200 minus 350 is close to 1 grand or 950... my ccredit obviously was good enough to open a post paid account.... what should i do???

Wireless BYOD + Next Up Anytime

I plan to switch to ATT but because of the current installment deals on the fold line, I want to wait to get a new device so I plan to BYOD.

When building my cart online, I notice that I do not have an option to purchase the next up anytime benefit when selecting BYOD... by bringing my own device am I forever giving up the opportunity to add next up anytime or would that opportunity arise once I upgrade my device for one of theirs? TIA

Wireless Any Costco promotions for BYOD?

Hey, I was looking at the costco site and it seems that there are no promos for people who want to port in their line into Costco with no new device. Everything is tied to a new device installment, is that correct?

Internet High Latency/Unstable Connection/Certain Websites not Working with AT&T Internet

A couple of days ago, I started having intermittent issues with AT&T Internet. Degraded service; various websites not working (but others ok). It turns out that somehow AT&T Active Armor had turned itself on again and this was blocking access to certain websites (e.g., espn.com, reddit.com) and certain services (playing music via Apple Music over smart speakers). I had this issue a couple of years ago and had disabled Active Armor (and supposedly had arranged for it to not be turned on again) but, alas, I guess no settings last forever.

In case you encounter these odd issues - try turning off Active Armor. You can do so in the Smart Home Manager App.

Happy surfing.

Wireless Trying to regain service after using Google Fi during deployment.

I'm trying to reinstate my FirstNet account a couple of days ago after deploying overseas and on their end, my old phone number and account has been reinstated, but I have no service. I called them to see what's going on and they sent me a new esim, but still nothing. If I can resolve this over the phone, I'll do it, but I might have to go to a physical store.

EDIT: my phone is a Pixel 10 Pro

Wireless NUA device return question

For those of you that have previously sent phones back after upgrading through NUA, how did you package the phone to protect it during shipping? I no longer have the original cell phone box, and from what I understand I am to use the shipping box and return label that my new phone is delivered in, but it doesn’t come with packing or protection material.

Wireless Plan change questions

I still have the AT&T Unlimited Extra EL plan which they recently discontinued. I have five lines and it costs $30.74/mo per line with the autopay/paperless discount ($10), and healthcare worker discount (25%). The most similar plan among the newer plans is the Extra 2.0 plan which costs $29.75/mo. This Extra 2.0 plan gives a 15% discount but I read that 5 lines reduces the base price to $45/mo. It's like a dollar cheaper and it appears the only thing that changes is the AT&T ActiveArmorSM mobile security which drops from Advance to Standard. It doesn't seem like a super valuable feature to hang on to, is it? Even the Elite 2.0 plan offers Standard ActiveArmor security. That change for all the lines would save me about $5/month. Am I losing anything else like benefits or features by switching to the Extra 2.0 plan? Will that 25% vs 15% discount bite me later?

Second question: I just paid off two of my phones early in order to unlock them for travels abroad. I realized I could have just switched to the Elite 2.0 plan as it gives international data to qualifying countries in Europe, instead of paying those two phones off and buying a foreign eSIM. Water under the bridge now. My question..if I switch plans from my Extra EL to either Elite 2.0, Premium 2.0, or Extra 2.0, will I continue receiving my monthly credits? I would only choose one of those three plans. Also, I won't upgrade early and I won't cancel those line.

Here is the math I worked out:
Current Plan: AT&T Unlimited Extra EL

  • Base Price (5 lines): $50.99
  • AutoPay & Paperless Discount: -$10.00
  • Standard Rate: $40.99
  • Nurses & Physicians Discount (25%): -$10.25 (25% of $40.99)
  • Final Monthly Cost: $30.74 per line

New Plan: AT&T Extra 2.0

  • Base Price (5 lines): $45.00 (AT&T's starting multi-line rate is cheaper for the new tier)
  • AutoPay & Paperless Discount: -$10.00
  • Standard Rate: $35.00
  • Nurses & Physicians Discount (15%): -$5.25 (15% of $35.00)
  • Final Monthly Cost: $29.75 per line

Other Can I update shipping?

Due to the chaotic mess of the pre-order I didn’t see that I had my old address from before the military. Do I just now intercept it from the carrier whenever I get the shipping number? AT&T told me they can’t change it without canceling the order and I’m not doing that.

Wireless iPhone Duo - Interesting Agent Experience

We moved one line from Verizon to AT&T last month when the 18 came out so my husband could get that, and I wanted to wait to transfer the second line until the Duo was released.

I went to preorder this morning and add a line, and had everything prepped and ready to go in advance, and it was asking for a $1300 down payment even though we have phenomenal credit. Doesn’t make sense to do that with the promos that are available. I’m assuming the down payment was because of how new our account is.

By the time I went to create a separate account under my name, shipping dates were into January 😭

We called and spoke with an agent, who told us that while we would need a down payment due to the new account, we could open a second account (under my name) and then combine them later, and I wouldn’t need a down payment.

I asked them about a shipping date and he said it would be shipped by the 23rd at the latest.👀 This was told to me at 5:30pm central. I have a hard time believing that it’s actually going to be shipped that early, especially based on the online ordering estimates.

Would love your thoughts on this!

Wireless Best Customer Service Phone #

I feel like I was given some incorrect information today from an agent I had spoken with over the phone. I want to call and speak to another agent tomorrow to verify whether my account reflects what the agent told me.

That being said, I’m trying to find the most reliable department to talk with, if there’s a way to bypass the general customer service/support agents and get to a higher department or supervisors.

Any advice is greatly appreciated - thanks!!
