I honestly don't understand why this raid needs to be so anti-solo.
I understood the argument for making it a team raid. I was expecting really involved teamwork, people taking on different roles, having to coordinate throughout the fights. That would make sense to me. I don't find the team mechanics convincing enough to justify making solo play this dogshit.
You go in on your own and you're still doing a raid scaled for two people. Then you've got the vines at Ocellus, where you're trying to free yourself with a barrage/AoE workaround. Doing all that extra work to get to the end, then potentially losing the run because you couldn't get out of a bind, just sounds miserable. How is that an enjoyable reason to need another player?
I know solos are possible. But someone managing to complete it doesn't mean there's a sensible solo option for people who want to learn the raid, grind, play at their own pace, go in and play the raid to get the drops solo. That's what I'm asking for.
I like playing at my own pace. I'll do a raid, then maybe play some Tarkov, do something around the house, go to the gym, whatever. Then I'll come back and do another when I feel like it. I don't want to find a team every time I fancy one raid, or feel like I should keep going because everyone else wants to do another. Being able to come and go like that is a massive part of why I enjoy OSRS, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
And before the inevitable “team content in an MMO, shocking” replies, yes, I know it's an MMO. If you enjoy doing raids with a team, great. Keep doing that. Give teams the better drop rates. Keep them as the most efficient way to do the raid.
Make solos 20% worse for drops if that's what it takes. I honestly don't give a fuck about having the most optimal method. I'll take worse rewards to be able to play at my own pace.
Just let it scale for one player and give us a reliable way to deal with the vines ourselves. It can still be difficult. It can still take practice. I want a solo option worth learning and repeating, like ToA or CoX.
I don't see why that means the team version has to lose the mechanics people enjoy. Keep those, reward people for coordinating well, and let the rest of us take the less efficient solo option.
At the moment, the way it's set up is putting me off trying the raid altogether. I'd like Jagex to reconsider the solo scaling, because “go find a team” is just going to mean “I won't bother” for some of us.
I've done 500 Invo solo ToA, and solo CoX, I have my radiant oathplate and i've completed all the Colo CAs, i'm not some shitter, I just want to be able to solo the raid and not be fucked over by a double health pool and get to the end and die to a mechanic that is RNG whether you can get past it.
They really missed the boat on this one. They didn't even add engaging group roles or mechanics, but for some reason have it scaled to duo stats in a solo, why? Makes no sense?
