I’ve been screenshotting websites that inspired me since 2001. Here are almost 4,000 of them, sorted by date

For over twenty years, every time a website caught my eye I grabbed a screenshot and dropped it into a folder. As an art director it was my way of keeping track of what felt fresh at the time. The folder quietly grew to almost 4,000 images.

I finally turned it into a browsable archive:
https://dmdev.it/webscreens

A few things you’ll notice scrolling through:

  • the early 2000s: Flash intros, tiny fixed-width layouts, 1024×768 everything
  • 2008–2010, the peak of the collection: glossy buttons, huge hero images, the rise of “web 2.0”
  • the slow shift toward flat design, big typography and full-screen photography

Each screenshot is dated to the day I saved it. You can filter by year with the timeline at the top, or hit “Random” and just get lost.

No ads, no tracking, just the archive. Happy to hear which era hits you hardest.

After quite a while, I've finally finished the landing page for one of my projects.

What do you think of it?

Hey guys! Was looking for feedback on this landing page I made for an MUN youth summit of my friend. I'm new to the live web design pages with cinema scroll and other quirky things, but I will say I'm proud of myself for this one. All feedback is appreciated. The best experience is on desktop.

1,000 cold calls taught me my pitch is broken. Now tell me if my landing page is too.

Quick background. I run a solo web agency (Propello) and I build websites for US trade contractors: masonry, fencing, concrete, that kind of thing. I’ve done that for a while, but those sites are a totally different game. You’re selling someone else’s business to homeowners.

This is the first time I’ve ever built a landing page for my own agency, to sell myself. I’m just starting out and I honestly have no idea if it’s good or if it’s quietly killing my chances.

Please be brutal. Don’t be nice. I’d rather hear it here than after another 1,000 cold calls.

What I want to know:

  • What do you think I do after 5 seconds on the page?
  • Would you trust me enough to book a call or pay? If not, what feels off?
  • What’s useless or missing?
  • Is the offer and pricing clear, or confusing?
  • Does it feel like it’s talking to a contractor, or to other web designers?

If you’ve ever hired an agency (or been a contractor who got cold called by one), your take matters most. Thanks in advance.
