For those who have seen the stories from uwaterloolife today I feel like theres much to complain about, why do some events seem so racially specific for example east asian boardgame or choreography with black students, im a minority that is rarely found on campus compared to others and it feels like theres never support or things for ethnicities that aren’t asian or african
Waterloo in an effort to combat racism it just feels like it promotes it more if we continue to do race specific events outside of their respective ethnic clubs.

I have been suicidal for a long time. I remember the thought of it being the only thing I could think about even back when I was 14. It was like an endless river of thoughts all about ending it and its ramifications.

Over the years it did get better, sometimes got worse. Over time it became some kind of a philosophical shelter. I don’t believe in any afterlife. For me suicide was an escape, a blissful end if things got too rough.

But after watching Kairo, it dawned upon me. What if it doesn’t get any better? What if death is just eternal loneliness too? Eternal suffering? Honestly I don’t think about suicide anymore. Because there are no gurantees.

Hey everyone! I’m an incoming exchange student coming to Waterloo soon and staying in suite-style residence (CLV South). I'm trying to figure out the meal plan situation, and honestly, I'm a bit confused. I’ve read a lot of posts mentioning that people often struggle to finish their meal plan balance and lose money at the end of the term.

From what I can tell, every plan (A through E) takes a 50% upfront overhead deduction, and the "50% discount" at the register just offsets that overhead. Is the only actual financial benefit of having a meal plan just the 13% tax (HST) exemption?

If I start with the cheapest plan (Plan E) and run low, can I just manually reload/top up more money online through the WatCard portal? If I do that, do those reloaded dollars still get the 50% register discount and the 13% tax exemption, or is there a catch?

If top-ups keep the exact same tax/discount benefits, is there any actual downside or hidden trap to just getting Plan E and topping up as I go, other than avoiding the risk of locked-up unspent funds at the end of my exchange?

Then, if I were to buy groceries and cook by myself, what would be the expected budget per month in Canada?

gr12 and really want to get into this program. I'm currently deciding whether or not to drop physics cus it might drop my grade, they say they only look at top six but I feel like its gonna effect my other grades this sem. Guidance counselor telling me to take physics which is going to help for first year and wouldnt count in top six. Title 😍long story short I came back to my province for reading week and found out my father is ≈$35,000 in debt 😍 (loans are from a shady company with extremely high interest fees as he has a horrid credit score and bad history with money) 😍 this information was spilled to me by my mother as SOON as I came back and she asked me for advice for this situation ?? Mind you I thought I was here to have a small break and have a slight amount of fun with my family but apparently not 🤣🤣🤣😍 my parents were never going to support me with schooling financially so I was never counting on their money but now it looks like they will ask ME for money 🤣 which I won’t give them because I already gave them ≈$10,000 that I MYSELF earnt thru jobs & scholarships 🤣🤣🤣🤣 silly me idk why I did that 👀 so I took out student loans so that I can eat and sleep peacefully and guess what after I handed in my documents they were lowered by $10,000 🤔🤣😍😍😍 and I don’t qualify for financial aid because my parents actually do make $100,000 per year idk where it all goes but 😍 I posted the above info before on this sub and got some advice (thank u🙏) & looked into a couple of things and found out that I can’t register as an independent & get aid because I have to be at least 5 years out of high school to qualify for that 😍 so no aid for me #thugitoutyourself 😍 I also miserably failed math 135 quiz and got a fucking 65 on the last math 137 one and a 64 on the cs135 diagnostic 😍 so not even education going well for me 🤣🤣🤣🤣 also bombed a presentation today 😍 and have a midterm today and tomorrow that I haven’t prepared properly for because I just can’t get my mind off of this bs 😍😍😍😍😍 oh and absolutely no friends or connections in wloo 😍🤣
