Can we ban lime bikes?
They just get thrown around everywhere and expect everyone to move around them. I hate how they make the campus look.

Suls elections are genuinely top 10 worst times of the year, the fakest people you know will hit u up to campaign for them as if they are literally not a nepo bff cesspool preaching bullshit policies which they somehow never implement.
At least previous elections they did a good job at wording their policies, the tickets this year are a joke. Especially the green ticket where one guy's goal is literally just debating but make it law school and claiming that iftar dinner is what law school should do for social justice
I literally cannot believe I pay so much money for kids like these to get elected and pretend to represent the rest of us.

I'm looking to transfer to usyd from a New Zealand uni for my second year. I would be interested in working part-time while I study. Do any of you have experience with part-time work? What is the Sydney student job market looking like in general? I have work experience in several entry level jobs. Cheers.

hi i’m not a usyd student but have seen a post or 2 pop up about the strikes. i wanted to read more about what is happening and the exact details (i read smth about training ai on lecture recordings…??) if someone is able to share resources or articles which would have more information that would be lovely.
also how do i support the strike as a non-usyd student? unfortunately am not in a position to contribute financially but does me showing up help at all?
i also saw a fair few people asking about refunds (rightfully so) — i don’t think this is the staff’s fault and the uni should be paying their students back as students are purchasing a service from the uni. i was wondering if it would help staff if students started making claims for refunds?
hoping negotiations get better protections for staff

I wonder where the couples who cuddle and lowkey make out in the ISL are gonna end up in 10 years' time.

Has anyone else noticed that accessing articles through the USYD Library site isn’t working?
The Go Athens loading page fails to load. This is happening for myself and a few others I know
Any info on why this is happening or for how long is much appreciated.

Hey all,
Just frantically trying to get submission in by midnight and I can’t get a database from the library site to open 🫠
Is anyone else noticing an issue with this? I can’t seem to find the contact number for IT support only library support which is obviously closed now, would anyone happen to have it?
TIA

I’m considering booking a twin room at Mountain Scape and was wondering if anyone could share their experience.
Thanks!

Do you ever want to meet new people, try something different on the weekend and make actual friends in Sydney, but feel like everyone already has their own circles? 😭
A friend and I started Taste & See to bring young adults from different backgrounds together through good food, exploring Sydney and conversations that go beyond the usual small talk 😂🤍
And we’re finally having our FIRST EVER MEETUP THIS SATURDAY!! 🫶🏽
📍 Where: Lillys Espresso and Cucina, Rhodes
📅 When: Saturday 24 October 2026
🕚 Time: 11:00 am
👥 Who: Young adults aged 18–30
What’s happening? 👀
📸 Rhodes Side Quests - waterfront missions, photo challenges and friendly competition
🥐 Brunch - good food and conversations afterwards
You don’t need to know anyone beforehand, and coming alone is completely fine! We’ve planned activities to help everyone get talking, so it’s not just strangers sitting awkwardly around a table 😭😂
A little about Taste & See 🤍
We’re a Christian/Jesus-centred young-adult community. Our aim is to create a space where young adults can build genuine connections and explore life’s bigger questions - including purpose, identity, relationships, spirituality and Jesus.
You don’t have to be Christian or attend church to join us. People from different backgrounds, beliefs and perspectives are welcome, and questions are encouraged. We want to create a space for genuine, open conversations.
We’re starting small and building this community from the ground up, and we’d love to meet people who are interested in being part of it! 🥹
Keen to join this Saturday? 🥐✨
Just comment below or DM me here on Reddit! I’ll reply with the final meetup details, answer any questions and, if you’d like, we can connect on Instagram or WhatsApp to keep you updated about future events.
Hope to meet some of you on Saturday!! 🫶🏽🤍

If I've had 4 classes cancelled and not rescheduled by strikes over the last strike and this coming Thursday why should I have to pay for them? No other business gets to just not provide a service but still bill you like it did. The uni should provide a fractional refund to students matching the proportion of classes that they don't deliver.
Hi I’m at USyd and looking at doing a roughly one-month exchange in Asia. Has anyone received the maximum OS-HELP loan for a trip that short, or does USyd reduce the amount based on how long you’re away?
Thanks :)

Hi everyone!
I'm currently working on a Lean Startup project exploring ways to make moving into campus accommodation easier.
My team's idea is an online marketplace offering affordable second-hand household essentials, with delivery directly to university accommodation.
I've created a simple landing page to test whether this solution would be useful to students.
If you're planning to move into on-campus accommodation or have recently moved in and still need household essentials, I'd really appreciate you taking a look!
🔗 Landing page: https://maize-apple-12p9tq8.mystrikingly.com/
This is an early-stage experiment project, not an operating marketplace just yet. Participation is voluntary.
Thank you so much!

Hello guys, I am an upcoming student at USYD and just wanted to ask that is it possivble to get major finance and minor in economics? And is it possible to change ur minor without any issue if u dont like it? I am having real difficulty choosing my minor if economic is allowed I would probably do that. Anyone have tips to how can one understand which major/minor he should take. Also, if u talk about (for example). Business Analytics in ur visa application as minor and take Finance as the minor. Would there be an issue? ON visa apps we say that we are planning to not that we have chosen it becz the choosing major and stuff portal is not open

The final exam is a month from today, and I need 60% in the final to pass the course. I’m not very good at math at all and I flunked the midsem - I studied a lot for the midsem but I think that when I get into the exam room I stress out and forget a lot of the concepts. Obviously I just need to study even more, but any tips on managing exam stress particularly as a humanities student taking STEM courses?

how long does it usually take a spec con for a missed class to go through? i used a doctors certificate and everything. i applied on the 13th and have not gotten any updates since.

Double majoring here, I am putting in decent effort but nothing extreme and getting like ~70-75 average. I do the bare minimum throughout the semester but when exams come I grind. I’m wondering how big the jump is in 2nd year? If I am finding it not too bad rn, how will I find it next year? Any commentary on it appreciated!
