I don't know if this is the right place to post or if not where is. I don't have anybody in my personal life I feel comfortable talking to about it.
I have, for a long time but on and off, had feelings about preferring to be a woman over a man. I remember having feelings like that as early as 9.
The issue is that I don't think I feel dysphoria about my current gender expression. I don't hate seeing masculine traits in myself I just would prefer to be feminine if given the choice. It feels like I could live as I am. It is like if I ordered a coke but got a pepsi, like it isn't what I would have wanted but its fine. I don't know if that makes sense.
For me it has always felt like I would press the button but only if I could guarantee no social backlash. I don't think I ever could transition knowing the impact it would have on my personal life. I have a long-term gf who I think would react poorly, i have transphobic family members, i have a transphobic boss, i have friends who I don't know how they would react.
I feel as if the outside forces and stress from transitioning would outweigh any emotional benefits I would get from transitioning.
What's worse is what if I try to transition and just end up regretting it. Then I have fucked up all of those relationships and probably worsened my life for no gain.
So now I am lost. Now that I am coming to terms with those feelings properly, I feel as if I can't actually do anything because it would make my life considerably worse (atleast in the short term). But also can I just ignore that little feeling for the rest of my life? Maybe. I think I have managed it so far alright.
I feel like I need advice but im not sure what on. I know that all the advice I would get from a sub like this is to just bite the bullet but I don't know if I want to. I think maybe I just wanted somewhere to write and vent some of those feelings. Im sorry.
