2 and 3: My mini-server rack made out of an old CD organizer, with my Raspberry Pi devices stuffed inside. I self-host most of my own tech infrastructure.
5 and 6: Rain barrels. I almost never use city water for my yard. Also, raspberries and grapevine.
8, 9, and 10. I replaced the entire front lawn with a pollinator habitat, hosting over 40 native species (and a couple non-natives to appease neighbors).
To me, the self-sufficiency and going-against-the-norm are what make all of this punk.
EDIT: This gallery is basically a “practicing what I preach” companion post to this one about how to start living a solarpunk lifestyle now. https://www.reddit.com/r/solarpunk/s/dNQPHnEIhe

More at: https://storyseedlibrary.org/tags/2026-collab/
The works below are a selection of illustrations created for the 2026 Solarpunk Art Collab ran by the Story Seed Library and Andrewism.
Even in the most optimistic scenarios of carbon neutrality, the XXI century will be full of climate disasters our civilization, culture and infrastructure are not prepared for. Let’s step away from clean, utopian Solarpunk worlds and roll our sleeves to face the consequences of our past.
How can a better Solarpunk world react to the coming disasters? How will our daily lives change? What new or repurposed infrastructure will keep us safe? What new traditions will we need to guide us? What stories will we tell ourselves to make sense of the world that has changed so much?
Let’s imagine more than just the rising waters: the droughts and fires, the sudden floods and pandemics, loss of infrastructure and supply chains we take for granted.
Finally, for the Disaster Relief, how can we step away from our colonial habits and imagine giving the survivors agency instead of handouts? How can we empower communities to rebuild after a catastrophe, find solace in each other and grieve those lost?
You can read more about the initiative at its event page. All of the works are available on Andrewism’s tumblr.

I'm hoping to find a book about solarpunk and ideas for how we could change the way we live according to its principles. I'm hoping for something aimed more at a mass audience than say something published by a specialist press for solarpunk enthusiasts - something a bit more general and mass market. Also interested in any books about solarpunk in architecture! Can anyone recommend anything?

About Event
“Playing, Dreaming, Worldbuilding” is a series of creative gameplay workshops facilitated by artist Kruthika NS (TheWorkplaceDoodler), empowering players to reimagine, rebuild, and rewild the worlds they WANT to live in.
💵 Pay-What-You-Can: to compensate Kruthika for her time and efforts, a donation to her directly will be much appreciated. Feel free to bring a friend too. We can accommodate up to 20 people for this game.
What is it?
Emerging from her Master's Thesis research and a lifechanging class on feminist worldbuilding at NYU, these workshops utilize the “Dreaming & Worldbuilding Game” co-designed by the artist with girls and young feminists across the globe during her art residency with Our Collective Practice, a global girls' rights organisation.
The game offers players a space to dream of collective futures that resist imaginations laced with dystopia, helplessness, and destruction — so much of which is being fuelled by the technological systems of the present. It begins by offering clues or prompts to get each player thinking about a brand new world completely uprooted from our current reality. Through imaginative play and collaborative dialogue, players will build on these clues, challenge existing societal structures, explore their collective desires, and lay seeds to future worlds they want to inhabit.
The workshop will include a meditative dreaming session, collective play, and space to co-create art that provides a glimpse into the worlds they build.
More on the game’s genesis: https://www.ourcollectivepractice.org/game
✨ Featuring: Kruthika, also known as TheWorkplaceDoodler is an anti-disciplinary artist, researcher, and lawyer from Bengaluru, India. Her practice brings together storytelling, feminist worldbuilding, and visual communication across media often considered to be separate domains — illustration, puppetry, film, comics, participatory installations, writing, and most relevant to this Seed Exchange — game design. She loves collaboration, and encourages you to reach out if this session resonates with you.

Hello good folks!
The cozy solarpunk-themed MMO (massively multiplayer online) videogame Loftia currently has a free demo available to play as part of Steam’s Next Fest. The demo ends on Oct 26 (10am PST) then the game will launch in early access on Nov 3rd. This is a good chance to play it for free, as it will cost around $30US after launch.
I’m very interested in exploring the potential for videogames to play a role in building a better, kinder, more sustainable world. Whether through providing new narratives for how we can live together, demonstrating sustainable/renewable technologies or experimenting with new types of economies or governance systems. I think it’s a medium that allows for all of these and I think Loftia has a lot of potential in this regard.
I’ve just started a discord server and I’m hoping to build a small online community of gamers who are interested in building a better world together. My hope is that we can get to know each other, play games together, discuss ideas, politics and activism, provide support for each other, etc. If anyone is interested, I’d love for you to join me. At this point the server is just bare bones and I am literally the only member. I have ideas but I’d like to build the community collaboratively if others are interested in joining me.

i am part of a small association based in a small suburban village in northern italy. i joined almost casually, it's a group of pensioners who organizes nature activities for kids. i don't want to judge their work, let's say they have an old school view of "sustainability". i help them sometimes and they try to involve me as much as they can because i am the youngest.
last week, in a meeting, a 60 year old member told us they bought land in our village. she wants to plant trees, probably entrusting it to the local regional park, that will plant the trees for free and "manage" the area. she is looking into building a well for irrigation, that will cost her probably.
she has her doubts on this, but i actually haven't really understood what she actually wants to do with this project. i have jumped in and suggested a different approach than reforestation, because we have so many examples in our area of bad management. the regional park itself, which sould be a natural reserve, is full of industrial farming. the park reforested an area to replicate ancient lowland woodlands, and it has since been a open-air storage for the surrounding agricultural operations that surround it, and it is used for car/motorbike races.
i tried to make her understand that if she wants to do good, probably this choice would only cost her and not even be effective. but who am i to say so? i honestly have no competence in these matters. i am just a 23 year old who is passionate about agroecology and food systems. i don't even really know people who would work with me towards a project.
but maybe this is a chance to take agency in my life and work towards something i dream of.
so i am asking: how would you go on about this if you dream of a building up a collective space of food production/experimental permaculture design when you have no money, no network and no clear plan?

Hello fellow solarpunks,
Alex here, from SolarPunk Stories. I've been living with a severe form of Long Covid for the past five years. At my worst I have been bedridden, in terrible pain and struggling to see a way forward.
Championing solarpunk through our Substack and sharing visions of deliciously sustainable futures has been one of the few things helping give me energy and very slowly recover. I think solarpunk has the potential to help the world get through our current challenges and flourish too.
You can read the piece here > https://solarpunkstories.substack.com/p/how-solarpunk-saved-my-life
I'd love to hear from you if solarpunk has helped you get through a difficult time too 💚

Hi! I was wondering what everyone’s opinions were on Eco-Womanism? I was hoping to connect with people. I haven’t read Dr. Harris’s book, but I began reading a Eco-Womanism at the Panama Canal. I’m learning a lot as I go through it. I just wanted to hear the thoughts that people who have read the book or are familiar with the concept of Eco-Womanism think? Let me know :)

TW: I probably sounded accidentally ableist and eugenistic three time over in there . It’s is one of this moment I wish I have the silver tongue of neurotypical peoples.
In one hand , as a autistic person not known for internalized ableism concerning himself, I can assure you than innate handicaps are by definition sicknesses and like all sicknesses we should seek cure or prevention for them .
In the other, it smell of eugenism and I feel if I was to present a solarpunk setting devoid of anybody challenged since birth, I would rise some eyebrows .
So , am I the asshole to think we shouldn’t protect what have been rendered obsolete in the name of diversity ?

Some terrarium concepts I did for fun.

A reminder, what is the #OMN https://hamishcampbell.com/a-reminder-what-is-the-omn/ To grow a healthy digital commons, the OMN works on social composting: breaking down the “dead material” and toxic habits of both #FOSS and corporate tech.

The way the characters learn the behaviours of their society harm their world, and then they change their ways and support their environment??? The gorgeous linen and wool textures, natural fibres, vegetation food??? My soul needs a full series set in the world at the end of the film.
