Should I buy powder skis
Currently own 100 mm ski, and looking to get a powder ski at 118mm. Do most of my skiing in Utah. Is it worth it?

Hi everyone!
I'm planning a ski trip from San Diego and would really appreciate some advice from people familiar with the local resorts.
I'm planning to ski on Friday, January 29, Saturday, January 30, and Sunday, January 31, 2027. I'd prefer to keep the drive to around three hours from San Diego.
I'm considering Snow Valley, Snow Summit, and Mountain High, but I'm open to other suggestions.
My main concerns are snow reliability and weekend crowds. I'd love to find a resort with good snow conditions, plenty of open runs, and shorter lift lines, especially on Saturday and Sunday.
I'm an intermediate skier, comfortable on green and blue runs. I already have snow clothing, but I don't own any equipment, so I'll need to rent everything, including skis or a snowboard, boots, a helmet, and any other necessary gear. I'd appreciate recommendations that take the full rental package cost into account.
For those who regularly ski in Southern California:
Which resort would you recommend for the best snow conditions in late January?
Which tends to be less crowded on weekends?
How reliable is snow coverage at these resorts around that time of year?
Which resort offers the best overall value when lift tickets and full equipment rentals are included?
Is there another resort within roughly three hours of San Diego that I should consider?
I know conditions can vary from year to year, but any advice based on your experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey everyone,
If you ride at Mountain Creek Bike Park or ski/ snowboard there in the winter, you probably know how much of a pain (or how expensive) it is to get up to Vernon if you don't drive or want to save on gas/wear-and-tear.
Ever since NJ Transit canceled the old seasonal 304 express bus over a decade ago, there has been zero direct public transit to the resort. Right now, taking transit means riding a bus to Wayne or West Milford and paying $50+ each way for an Uber/Lyft.
I'm starting a initiative to petition NJ Transit and Mountain Creek Resort to co-sponsor a simple, low-cost solution: extending select trips on the existing NJ Transit Route 194 by just 12 miles from its current end point in West Milford (Stockholm) straight up Route 23/94 to Mountain Creek.
If you'd like to see an affordable transit connection restored between NYC/North Jersey and Mountain Creek, please take 30 seconds to sign and share the petition with friends.
Thanks for the support! Let's get enough signatures to bring this to NJ Transit, and Mountain Creek management to get a collaboration between the two. Also attempting to get JORBA on board.
Thanks for reading!

Looking for recommendations for our ski trip. We usually go to Copper but circumstances this year prevent that. Need to find a decent mountain within 4 hours of Baltimore Maryland for an early January trip. We mostly ski blues at Copper so looking for something around that level.

Planning on going to Afriski ski resort in Lesotho towards the end of July 2027. Those that have been there with their own vehicle, would my Nissan Magnite make it?

I’ve been skiing the 2024 Nordica unleashed 98s. Found them to be a pretty fun ski but definitely chopped and buffeted pretty hard on the steep stuff. This is compounded by the fact that I’m 6’4 230. What else is out there that’s still twin tip, nearly as playful but has a little more backing for going faster.

Hello!
Got laid off from my job so thinking of moving to a ski town for the winter and working. Lots of bartending and serving experience so I think I won’t have a problem finding a job. I also plan on getting my own place instead of housing provided, just looking to hangout and relax and meet cool people and learn how to Snowboard better.
Was originally thinking of Whitefish as I love the mountains and the area, but I think CO has a load of places I should be considering. 32m LGBTQ looking to make friends if that matters.
What draws me to towns is the mountains, nature, nice walks at night on lamp lit streets, and friendly people. Prices don’t really concern me. I also love swimming in rivers and lakes by obviously for the winter time, not quite an option.
Wonder what are your thoughts.
Which towns would you recommend?
What are your experiences doing something like this?
Which resort operators should I avoid? It seems like they all have their reputations.
Thanks!

Hey i’m very much a beginner beginner skier, i went last year and it was pretty fun i wasn’t that good but it was stiff fun, this year i want to do it as much as i can in the winter and instead of paying 120 everytime for rentals i want to buy my own skis, im 6’0 150ish lbs maybe a bit more weight, but when i got my rentals they would usually give me 160cm skis, i see some skis online that are priced well but they have them 158cm and way higher than 160 would 158 make it harder for me or no. please let me know again i am a beginner im not hitting blacks anytime soon lol
(other sizes are 165 and 172cm)

Hello everyone! I would like some advice/tips from the ski experts. I don’t ski very well, but my swedish boyfriend has been skiing since he was a kid, we live in Sweden and he loves off-piste.
He used to travel to another countries as well just to ski, but for our personal reasons, money will be a bit tight in the next months… Looong story short I would like to give him a short ski trip in Sweden for his birthday (april), I am thinking about Tänndalen since I found a really good price on airbnb, what do you guys think about the mountains there? (He never went there in the winter)

I’m in the UK and looking to book Norway this winter. I’m unsure of which resort will best suit my situation.
-Taking my mum, who will likely do very little actual skiing but likes the scenery/short walks/the experience.
-I’ve got a couple of months Nordic skiing experience from a few years ago but would probably consider myself beginner level.
-I’m confident driving in Norway.
So far I’ve looked at booking via Crystal for ease, but unsure which resort will be better for my situation.
Currently considering Norefjell, Beitostølen and Geilo; any advice/experience or recommendations would be REALLY appreciated; I’d be confident booking for myself/friends but want to ensure my mum is comfortable.
Thanks

I’m from NY and been skiing all my life - going to Europe for the first time. Super excited!
Can anyone share their experience at St Anton and what I could expect? We’re flying into Zurich and taking the train down to St Anton, staying in an Airbnb 15 mins away from the mountain.
I know I’m going at the busiest time of the year but it’s the only time I can go. I’ve been to tons of New York and Vermont mountains during busy season, will the crowds be worse than that?
Also what kind of snow quality to expect in comparison to New York/Vermont?
How is the apres ski at the base of the mountain?
Any tips or insight on what to expect is greatly appreciated!

Hello, I was looking for a pair of used ski since I’m an international student abroad.
I usually snowboard but I decided to become also good at skiing.
I’m 180cm and 93kg in weight and I have very strong core and legs from rugby.
I found this super good offer for a pair of barely new RC4. The problem is that they are 180cm
Is it worth it?
That comes also with bindings

My husband and I are looking to do a ski trip in Europe this January. He has never been to Europe, so I am hoping to have a good mix of sight seeing, enjoying new cultures, and skiing.
I have planned two separate trips:
Option 1: Zermatt and Chamonix
Option 2: Venice-Dolomites
Has anyone been to these ski areas and can advise, please?
We are from Utah, and are very comfortable skiing (blues, blacks in US) on piste, and do some off piste (mainly just skiing in the trees).
Any thoughts and/or advice welcomed and appreciated!
Thank you!

Hi everyone,
Every winter it’s the same story for me: ten tabs open between the resort’s booking site, Booking and Airbnb, and still no clue whether the apartment is 50 m or 1 km from the first chairlift, or whether the resort sits high enough to be sure of getting snow, and so on.
So I put together Skitrack in my spare time. It was supposed to be a personal tool to organise my own trips with friends, and then it got a bit out of hand...
How it works:
It obviously works for France (I’m French, as you may have guessed), but it also covers every resort in Europe, Switzerland, Italy and Austria included of course.
It’s a personal project, still rough around the edges, which is exactly why I’m posting here:
The link: skitrack.net
Thanks in advance for your feedback, and have a great season everyone!
