ONGOING ISSUES - Please read our Group Rules before posting / commenting

67 Upvotes

We are getting way too many rule violations, resulting in posts / comments being removed and (in some cases) users banned. Before you ever post or comment in r/Shopify please read the group rules (a big THANK YOU to our members who regularly report such posts/comments for rule violations - they help more than you know).

All users must have an account age of 30 days, a minimum of 20 comment karma, and a minimum of 10 post karma (not overall karma). all 3 conditions must be met. Also, your post must be specific to the Shopify platform. Any post that is not Shopify-specific should be posted to other ecom-related groups.

A few quick notes on what you cannot do here (because these are the most commonly violated rules) - most of these should be common sense to veteran reddit users and they are shared with a majority of other such groups -

  • Do not post a store for a review (in any way - this means 'why am I not getting sales?', or 'why such low conversions?' posts). Please use r/ecommerce or r/ReviewMyShopify groups for this

  • No AI or Suspected AI Slop: Obvious or suspected AI content is not welcome here. Violations from lower-karma accounts with little contribution history in this sub may result in a ban. This will be at the sole discretion of the group moderators.

  • Do not promote your app, offer, service, site, perform app research, ask about 'pain points' or anything else related to Shopify services, apps, or development (r/ShopifyDev or r/ShopifyAppDev are good groups for that), even if 'free'.

  • Do not solicit personal contact with a user of this group in any way and for any reason (DM request, sending soliciting DMs, Contact Me, Let's Connect, etc). This includes responding to calls for help by asking for DM (such posts will also be removed). Share all helpful information in the thread so that everyone reading will benefit, and to remove the appearance of self-promotion. This is the fastest guaranteed way to get your account banned from this group.

Other rules certainly apply to the group, but these 3 are seeing many removals and account bans every day. The group is here to help Shopify users. It is not a focus group, nor is it here opportunists to take advantage of those who may be new to the group.

Lastly, remember that the internet gives the cover of anonymity to all users; Many users here are legit and only intend to help, but many others have selfish motives. Never trust a random stranger on the internet, and certainly never give anyone your passwords or financial information for services without thoroughly checking them out first. The sad reality is that scammers abound in groups like this - make every effort to protect yourself.

Moderators are always open to rule suggestions or changes - it is your group, just message us!

Shipping Shopify shipping in Europe?

7 Upvotes

Reading through this article (https://www.shopify.com/blog/shopify-shipping-services), it makes it sound like Shopify Shipping is available in the EU. However, I can't seem to get it working for my store (based in Sweden).

Does it only apply to specific European countries? Has anyone successfully used Shopify Shipping within the EU? If so, what has your experience been like, and are the discounted rates actually as good as they claim?

Marketing Best way to deal with unique products

2 Upvotes

Hello all I have a question about creating unique products. I have a small boutique webshop. part of my products are unique, but they are the same product but in different grades of wear. They may have scratches, so instead of just using grade a, grade b.. etc, I want to have like option one, option two and then show the picture on the variation so the customers knows what he/ she is getting.

This would be some extra hours a week but not that much. The only problem is dealing with deleting the variant and picture and not disturbing seo to much.

Whats the best way to do this? Are there specific themes for this?

Have a great weekend all.

Shopify General Discussion The latest EU demands

18 Upvotes

Did anybody else laugh as hard as I did when they read the email notification for the latest EU demands?... Mandatory barcode/three identifiers, or you risk a customs rejection? Just reinforces my decision to remove EU countries after they did the mandatory "cool off button" thing. For how little we send there, it was already a PITA dealing with lazy people who wouldn't go pay the fee, and then you get to waste your morning going back and forth with the resolution people and customer, trying to get them to go get it before it gets sent back. All this EU stuff was the last nail in the coffin.

Shopify General Discussion Appointment booking + email setup questions

1 Upvotes

I’m on Shopify with Klaviyo. I need free 20-min in-store appointments, one person per slot, booked inline on a page with no add-to-cart or checkout. Klaviyo (or an alternative) has to get an event for every booking (email, name, appointment time, ideally reschedules/cancels), so it can send the confirmation, a 1-day reminder and post-visit emails.

Those include a unique discount code for specific products, then a nudge at 2 weeks if it’s unused and again at 6 weeks. Staff need to mark no-shows so those people don’t get the post-visit emails. A deposit or card hold at booking would be a nice to have.

Alternatives I found

  • Easy Appointment Booking: free booking without checkout works, but Klaviyo/Flow/webhooks are on the $99/mo plan
  • Sesami: Klaviyo only on $129/mo
  • Booking as a 0 Ft order through checkout: Klaviyo gets the order, but customers have to go through checkout and fill in a billing address which is terrible UX
  • Appointo + Zapier: Not a huge fan of zapier

Does anyone have any suggestions that don't cause $100+ a month and is reliable?

Point of Sale POS exchanges without the original purchaser knowing?

5 Upvotes

So, I work in a neighborhood gift shop, and often customers return a gift that someone gave them, but of course they don't want the original purchaser to know they made the return. Until this week, we could process an exchange and it wouldn't necessarily send to the original purchaser - or we could put in a new recipient for the gift card on the return - but with the new UX update, that seems to have disappeared. Anyone have any idea of how to manage this better now?

Shopify General Discussion Those of you with stores doing 500k+ how did you get there and what strategy proved the most efficient? Also did you have an “edge” to start?

13 Upvotes

Just curious. Launched my Shopify store on the 5th and we’re at 16k in sales on a $100 item. I have a marketing background and my partner is an influencer which made initial sales easy. Ads seem to be closing the gap now that the initial buzz is gone but I was wondering how some of you really got to the “next level”

Is it just having a ton of products? Are you running ads on multiple platforms? Right now we’re just doing Meta. We haven’t even sent a marketing email yet. Would love to hear from some of you. Thanks!

Shopify General Discussion App alternatives? Loss of functionality due to AI Vibe coding BS.

9 Upvotes

I am really tired of this app taking away features just for a third party developers can sell them back to you. I used to make little organization sections to help move through my orders more efficiently. For example, if I wanted to show orders that only have stickers I can hit products and then type in 3x3 which is the size of our stickers that is included in the title, scroll down from the list it generates and then hit select all. That feature was removed entirely and I had to manually click every single listing which would take forever, and sometimes it wouldn't even load every option! The worst part being within a week the code would be broken and I would have to start all over again if I wanted to add more items to the list if. Personally that wasn't too annoying. It was just kind of whatever, but last week they got rid of the hotkey shortcuts for J&k to move forward and backward on your orders. That's kind of ridiculous. When I reached out to Shopify they're like. Oh yeah I guess it's gone now have fun. How many more features are they going to remove? What can I even do at this point? Is big cartel more user friendly then Shopify? I'm really not sure what to do if they keep removing key functionality features and replacing it with weird AI tools.

Apps Onsite search conversion report through search and discovery issue

Is Shopify's "Autopilot" growth tool terrible or worth a shot?

3 Upvotes

One of my clients is trialing it, which is also the first time I'm seeing it in action. Did they just agree to light $1,000 on fire? Or might it actually produce sales?

The first auto-generated ad just says "Shop our collection," which is objectively a terrible ad. Is it supposed to refine the ads from there or is that the best we should expect?

Shopify General Discussion Wtf is going on with POS??

11 Upvotes

Latest update makes it impossible to see/touch the last 2 options in a variant list, plus it auto jumps to the cart now when you add an item, so you can't tap to add extra variants without having to go back through the searches for each individual one.

Screw you if you want to add 2 or 3 of the same item. Cannot just tap 2 times now. Have you edit qty in the cart or go back through the menus to find the items again.

WTF Shopify?! Get your crap together. Who's testing this before rollout?

Shopify General Discussion I am helping a nail artist with a large social media following (~150k) set up her business. The stack is getting very complex. Ideas to simplify?

0 Upvotes

She wants to sell press-on nail kits for which Shopify feels like the best bet, she also has downloadable decals (digital products) that she's been selling off Etsy but Etsy charges like 10% so she wants to move that over to Shopify too. Not going clean. She sells 1:1 consultations and made to order kits but has been handling that with calendly and spreadsheets. Is working on a course and may drop that on Kajabi or something else. Its getting unwieldy and we are considering building the whole thing ourselves. Wanted to check with this group first if we are missing something and there might be a better way instead of DIY-ing.

Shopify Announcement Shopify New Browser Requirement* Unable to access store: 10/15

10 Upvotes

Greeting fellow store owners,

I’m wondering if anyone else woke up today to find themselves completely unable to log into their Shopify desktop admin.

I’ve been running my stores perfectly fine for over 6 years years on a 2010 MacBook running macOS 10.13 High Sierra. I was literally on my desktop dashboard just a few days ago with no issues.

But today, I suddenly can't get in at all.
When I try to load the login page, it completely fails, throws a browser error code, (TypeError: Promise.withResolvers is not a function”) and tells me my browser is too old or unsupported.

Because I'm on High Sierra, I cannot update Google Chrome or Safari any further. I even tried downloading Brave, but my system can't run the modern version.
After doing some digging, it looks like Shopify pushed a major backend update to their login code within the last 24 hours that completely drops support for legacy browsers.

Is anyone else with an older Mac (pre-2017) experiencing this sudden lockout today? Are you seeing the same browser errors?

Shipping Does anyone use Pirateship with Shopify?

1 Upvotes

If so, is there any way to be able to match up the shipping names with the orders? Shopify will only show billing address in the order screen and pirateship will only show shipping address in the imported data. If Sam orders a box for Max then I go to pirateship and can see Max's name and shopify shows Sam's name and unless I go INTO the shopify order, I can't tell it's the same order. Yes, I know I can do order number matching but for the way I'm doing things, matching names would be ideal for my system. Am I missing something?

Shopify General Discussion How many orders or sessions do I need before my Conversion Rate actually becomes meaningful?

2 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I recently integrated payment gateways on my Shopify store at the end of last month, so I’m still in the very early stages of tracking metrics.

Here is my data for October so far:

  • Sessions: 110
  • Add to Carts (ATC): 17 (15.4%)
  • Total Orders: 10
  • Net Valid Orders: 7 (after removing 2 fraud/chargeback orders and 1 unfulfilled order)
  • Net Conversion Rate: ~6.3%

I know 110 sessions and 7 valid orders is an extremely small sample size and subject to small-sample bias. However, the initial numbers look promising (especially the 15.4% ATC rate).

My question is: At what scale (how many sessions or orders) does conversion rate start stabilizing and become a reliable benchmark for decision-making?

Should I wait until I hit 1,000 sessions or 50+ orders before trusting this baseline? Would love to hear how you all evaluate early-stage data!

Thanks in advance!

Shopify General Discussion How to make the Orders rows light/dark grey again

2 Upvotes

Hey so the recent update made it look like all order rows are the same colour - or to me at least - which, if nothing else, seems that accessibility slipped backwards. Personally, I've had an extremely hard time looking at my orders screen this last week, and find myself squinting to try to discern what is going on.

Anyway, long story short I thought I'd knock up some quick CSS to bring this back, and share it with whomever else might benefit from it.

You can apply it using any browser extension you prefer, but personally I use Stylus for things like this. Here's the code, and a screenshot of the resulting view. Enjoy!

/* Archived rows: order number is rendered with the "_Tertiary_" (subdued) text class */
  .Polaris-Table-TableRow:has([data-primary-link] [class*="_Tertiary_"]) {
    --pc-table-row-background: #f0f0f0;
  }
  .Polaris-Table-TableRow:has([data-primary-link] [class*="_Tertiary_"]):hover {
    --pc-table-row-background: #e4e4e4;
  }

  /* Rows use display:contents, so paint the cells too (covers the sticky checkbox/order columns) */
  .Polaris-Table-TableRow:has([data-primary-link] [class*="_Tertiary_"]) > [role="cell"] {
    background: var(--pc-table-row-background) !important;
  }

Edit: Turns out images aren't allowed. Here: https://plati.ma/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/ShopifyPreview-scaled.jpg

Shopify General Discussion 'Slopify'.

118 Upvotes

That's how we refer to them internally now. My team are just thoroughly frustrated by the new interface, and more generally by the collection of UI updates from the past 6 months. Everything seems to require 1 or 2 more clicks than before. That adds up fast. The general feeling is that these changes are being implemented by a front-end team that doesn't eat their own dog food.

It's not like they've even leaned into a new design philosophy, which I could excuse - to us it seems like a design change for the sake of doing a design change. Idle thumbs...

Shopify General Discussion Worst AI interface ever!

I hate that if I want to make the slightest change to my page that I have to spend an hour plus chasing my tail with this bot. Costs me so much time. It screws the simplest tasks up. Almost tempted in trying another website builder.

Shopify General Discussion How do I scale my store?

0 Upvotes

I am a whitelabel store and I’m finding it hard to scale up. I think my two issues are traffic and the fact that I’m selling other brands products so other sites are the first choice.
Ads are a light switch, and my SEO is really just fighting for brand name + sale. Is this just me pigeonholing myself or is there an avenue I’m not seeing?
Shopify is great for first time buyers but I’m having a hard time getting people to come back. I’ve spent a lot of time optimizing things like performance/UX but it feels like I’ve hit a ceiling.
Any tips?

Orders High Risk Fraud Order. Matching Address, CVV. Should I cancel

0 Upvotes

Should i cancel this order. We sell used auto parts and we dont run into chargebacks often due to a vey specific product that is not easy to resell . This customer ordered a used headlight specifically for a few years of a Infiniti. The order total is $600

it seems like it was flagged for a VPN?

  • Characteristics of this order are similar to fraudulent orders observed in the past
  • Shipping address is 346 miles from location of IP address
  • A high risk internet connection (web proxy) was used to place the order
  • Location of IP address used to place the order isn't available
  • Card Verification Value (CVV) is correct
  • Billing street address matches credit card's registered address
  • Billing address ZIP or postal code matches the credit card's registered address
  • There was 1 payment attempt
  • Payment was made with 1 credit card
  • Billing country matches the country from which the order was placed
