To start with im a former player who quit after the introduction of EOC but has made a few unsuccessful attempts to get back into the game over the years since and for transparencies sake ive played a fair amount of OSRS since its release.
I was pro reignited, not because the game had MTX and the hiscores are somehow tainted because of this. Not because i think the game needs a fresh economy, my main reason for wanting reignited was that i want to be able to play in a world that feels alive. The game sadly doesnt offer this currently. The world just feels empty and for lack of a better word dead, i want to be out in the world seeing other people working on the same things im working on.
Now i dont think reignited would be a permanent solution for the world feeling dead as people would gradually progress out of these areas but, its ultimately up to Jagex to take advantage of having the world looking and feeling alive and continuing to draw fresh players into the game so it doesnt revert back to how it is now.
It seems there was quite a bit of genuine interest in people actually giving the game a chance again and with the cancellation of reignited theres now a lack of hype or draw to bring those new or returning players in. A lot of these potential returning players now have a sour taste in their mouth over the treatment they've received over that past couple week just for sharing a differing view in being excited for reignited. All the put your money where your mouth is and try the game if you were interested in reignited posts just come across as gloaty and condescending.
I think now would be a good time to start talking compromise instead of gloating that you won one over on OSRS players somehow. Veteran player got what they wanted in reignited being cancelled but why couldnt Jagex pivot and do fresh start worlds that merge with the main game in lets say 1 year? This obviously wouldnt be as popular as reignited with the fresh economy etc but i do think it would fix what i think is the biggest issue in the world feeling empty.
I also think the addition of say sub 1k total level world and 1.5k total level world would help to keep players in similar parts of the game around eachother. There seems to be plenty of worlds that even 1 of each of these can be put aside for each region.
It wouldnt take all that many people sticking around to make a noticeable difference in the numbers the game is pulling its at what 20-25k concurrent currently, yes i know concurrent isnt total players but it is what you see when you're in game so its important cause thats whats going to make the game feel alive while playing it.
Anyway thanks for reading i would just like some friendly discussion about what you think the next move should be.
(grammar is a mess i was rambling)
