📷 Photo I asked my teacher to draw "The Bends" on a test

A bit of backstory: for a couple of years me and my teacher would do this thing on tests where I would write a question on the paper asking him to draw something (for example I've asked him to draw me old stuff like gramophones and cassette tapes) and when he handed the test back I would get to see the drawing. On this test I asked him to draw me a CRT TV, but I said if he had time I would want him to draw "The Bends" by Radiohead (as you can see in the second photo), and I didn't even know if he knew what Radiohead is, but I could tell based on that "High and Dry" reference he knew. When I got this handed back to me I actually laughed out loud. There is more to our history of us sharing an interest in older or vintage things, but that's another story.

TL;DR: For a long time I've asked my teacher to draw me stuff on tests I write

edit: whoever remains the top comment gets to choose what he draws next (should be Radiohead related so I can post it here, also don't make it anything weird)

💬 Discussion The bridge of Bodysnatchers

I always see people talk about Reckoner when In Rainbows comes up but the bridge of Bodysnatchers gets me every time like it's so good. I think it's an example of the brilliance of In Rainbows despite Reckoner and Nude being mentioned a lot

💬 Discussion [Album Sequencing] Made a 14 song "extended" Amnesiac and got obsessed with it

Post image
47 Upvotes

I really like Amnesiac but it has always been near the bottom of my Radiohead ranking. I rebuilt it with a few b-sides and Kid A Mnesia extras and I'm really loving it now.

It runs just over an hour and the songs flow into each other way better than they should, especially with a little crossfade. Not perfect though obviously and it's very subjective but I do like this more than the original album.

I generally like playing with album sequencing and if anyone else does, when you resequence an album or playlist what matters most to you? Is it the transitions between songs, or following a big song with a breather, or maybe the lyrics and how they read in order? I’d also like to hear from anyone who's made their own cut of Amnesiac or another record.

💬 Discussion All I Need is the only song that's ever made me cry

I have never cried to any other piece of music before, none have ever made me feel this emotional. The build up to the end is so incredibly heavy. It was the end that got me the most, the feeling of it all weighing in and crashing down makes me feel things I've never felt before, I can't describe the feeling fully, but there's a lot of guilt

The piano is PERFECT.

If you know any other gut wrenching pieces, please let me know! I haven't cried that much since I was 12.

I went to see EOB last weekend, it was such a great show, all the new songs sounded great live and the entire band (and especially the other vocalist!) gave an awesome performance. The last time I saw him was just before lockdown at his London show, so it’s been a while! I’m happy he’s able to do a proper tour this time and he also mentioned how in 1985 he came to this venue as a young teen for a theatre show and now he’s here performing his album.

A viewer told him that no artist has 5 classic albums, but he disagreed and brought up Radiohead along with other artists in this video.

Radiohead push the boundaries of music and music structure. What is their most musically complex song - whether in song structure, sonic textures, instrumental arrangements

Recorded vocals on my tablet, isolated them with AI to clear the background track, and mixed everything in BandLab. Made the most of my setup—hope you like it!

What do you think, is it an authentic release or just some kind of bootleg? I bought it from a reliable seller who specializes in importing CDs from Japan.

💬 Discussion I also did the cup thing, it wasn't easy

Post image

I saw the other post and it inspired me to make my own list. Thank you stranger.

I almost gave up from the start because I had to eliminate Knives Out and How To Disappear Completly in the first round, Knives Out has is a dear one for me but it was against True Love Waits (I pretended it was the Oslo version but the studio version works too.) KO should've seen the finals, I feel so bad.

I noticed my favor for Amnesiac and AMSP (since they are in my top three with In Rainbows it shouldn't be a surprise.) and I probably discredit The Bends more than it deserves. Its just my personal taste.

Eliminating Paranoid Android and Pyramid Song for Daydreaming probably wasn't the right call. But I really have a soft spot for AMSP. If I done it again probably I would've gone with Pyramid Song.

There, There got eliminated sooner than it deserved, Idioteque too.

Another one I overdid was probably Sail to the Moon, again it holds a special place for me. The melody is just too beautiful, too appealing for me.

Two strong OK Computer pieces, No Surprises and Let Down got eliminated by the two giants of In Rainbows. Poor draws honestly, I love them both. Tough choices.

The winner is not a surprise, I kind of knew it was going to be Arpeggi, and it was. But if I have to enter to the gimmicks, I would either choose From the Basement or that ethereal souunding orchestral version. Probably the latter, Thom's voice is just increadible there.

💬 Discussion So what comes after radiohead

I mean after discovering the pinnacle of music, what the fuck else am i supposed to listen to? Genuinely.

I never bought a vinyl before, Till yesterday. Now for whatever reason, in case the power grid were to go out i can still experience In Rainbows so I’m good.

Radiohead does not make songs, they make art

Edit: im specifically very into the progression and build up(?) of emotions followed by that sort of release or crash. very prevalent in, weird fishes, exit music, reckoner, nude, jigsaw,

💬 Discussion Jonny's Tele Plus

Post image
21 Upvotes

I would like to get a telecaster similar to Jonny's tele plus. What's the best way to achive this without spending to much (1k more or less).

I wanted to get a tele and swap the pickup with the lace sensor. Red Humbucker at the bridge and Blue on the neck.

But wich tele model should i choose? I wanted a nice body that could fit the humbucker at the bridge, since normal tele have a oblique single coil.

Should i get a tele plus or a normal tele and then make a luthier swap the pickup for me?

(The guitar photo is an example i found in this subreddit)

Hello there, I made a In Rainbows poster, just wanted to share it.
It references the first lyrics of WF/A (my favorite song of the album).

You can find the print file in high quality (already with 4 mm of bleed margins) at the link below.

💬 Discussion Pablo Honey is not that bad . Let me explain it

Post image
39 Upvotes

Pablo Honey was originally not really praised by critics and even now the band hate it . But let me explain why it’s a not that bad / good album.

You - Banger as the opener . The little intro riff , iconic. The scream , magnificent. This is a pretty good song let’s be honest. It has a mysterious vibe . I personally like it.

Creep - Yes it’s overplayed , a lot. But still , think about it . It sounds beautiful. Often Radiohead fan says that the band would be better without this song but let’s be honest . It’s needed in their discography. Not only that but this song made a lot of us the start of our Radiohead mania

How Do You ? - This is where the album gets less good. Sound simple but yet energetic. Sounds like a song made by teenagers or by a young band ( which is the case here )

Thinking About You - An acoustic song is practically necessary for an rock album . Yet it still pretty simple and not that original. ( It was Thom Mom’s favorite song on the record )

Anyone Can Play Guitar - Another single from the album . Pretty catchy and cool to hear . Sounds a bit destructive in a good way . A bit more experimental I must say . Lyric are pretty random tho.

Ima skip Ripcord , Vegetable , Prove Yourself,
These songs are pretty sound alike . This is part that make the album gets a lower rating.

Lurgee - Sounds soft . A little ballad near the end of the album . Relaxing . Represents pretty well the album cover . And the little riff at the end is so good .

Blow Out - For me the best song on the album . Sound soft and pure . The perfect mix of soft verse and explosive chorus . Ends perfectly the album . These jazzy chords goes really well together.

The album cover is also really important. And it’s not that bad . If you look beyond the flower and the baby . There is a white yellowish "bed sheet" . If feels like a hot Sunday Morning or a new marriage .
This album is more than you think. Give it another listen. And show him some love . Even his parents don’t like him 😢

Edit : I forgot to add Stop Whispering. Let’s be honest it’s not that bad . A pretty good sounding chorus . Sounds like the album cover too . Was even a single with a music video.
