The card just came in, time to put my 6800XT on early retirement… it served me well, too well in fact, sadly I couldn’t go Taichi this time due to availability.

System specs:

Musetex Y6 PC Case
Thermalright Peerless assassin 120 White ARGB
I5-13600kf
AsRock B760M Pro RS DDR5 bios 11.3
RX 9070XT ASUS PRIME OC
32GB T-FORCE DELTA CL36 @ 6000
kingston nv3 4x4 1TB + another 1.5TB in HDD for storage.
Redragon +850 gold atx 3.0 PSU

2x 1440p ips 120hz monitors (my next to be thing to upgrade)

UPDATED 10/17/2026

The card is performing well, uv to:

-50 and Pwr% -12%

Mem clock 2550mhz (2518 base) + fast timing.

fans: 35-45-55-65-80
temp: 30-40-50-60-70

the memory chips ended up being Hynix, it was a 50/50 with Samsung, wanted samsung for the lower temps but Hynix ain’t bad, actually the opposite, more OC headroom in the future.

Temps are:

GPU Idle

30/32c

mem 53c

CPU Idle:

33c

GPU load:

46-55 gpu

70-75c hotspot

72-78 mem.

CPU Load:

55-65c / 60-99% load.

So I was playing cyberpunk after watching this guy on youtube play it (picture on the right) and realized that my reflections look so much different than his.

I was wondering if this is just a difference in Ray tracing technology since Im on a 9060 xt 16gb and he is on a 5060 ti 8gb We are also both using Ray tracing set at ultra.

Is there a way to make my reflections look better?

Discussion FSR4 on RX 6900XT Speculation

• Upvotes

Hello!

I was researching a bit into FSR4, and it's coming to RDNA2 on start of 2027, it seems.

I have a Sapphire RX 6900XT Toxic Extreme Edition. I'm quite happy with it since I bought it, can play anything comfortably with FSR3.1 at max without too much Ray Tracing. Temperatures are perfect, undervolted too. Even though, I'm considering upgrading to a 9070 or 9070XT.

But I was wondering if FSR4 will be such an upgrade over FSR3.1 that I won't need to upgrade? I heard rumors that FSR4 at Performance/Balance could be better than FSR3.1 Quality?

What is the experience of people who used FSR4 with 7xxx or modded it for 6xxx?

Did I win the silicon lottery?

Got an xfx mercury 9070xt oc two weeks ago and tinkered a bit with the adrenaline software. After few days I landed on this setting and nothing crashed ever since.

Clock offsett: +400MHz

Undervolt: -150mV

Power draw +10%

Mem clock 2714

The actual clock of the core doesnt reach more than 3440MHz during gaming tho.

After 2hours of cyberpunk pathtracing on max details my PCB temp is around 56°C and hotspot around 77°C.

Are there any mainstream free benchmarks I should try to test the stability even more? Could I possibly damage the card in any way with these settings?

This is also an appreciation post, im so happy i can finally play newer titles and stream them to my friends.

Edit: will test stellar blade tomorow and post the results.

Tech Support Sapphire RX 9070 XT NITRO+ – My new efficiency undervolt tune. Great temps, strong performance and no driver timeouts so far!

Title: Sapphire RX 9070 XT NITRO+ – My new efficiency undervolt tune. Great temps, strong performance and no driver timeouts so far!
Been experimenting with my Sapphire RX 9070 XT NITRO+ to find a good balance between performance, temperatures, power consumption and stability.
I originally tried more aggressive undervolts, but while they passed 3DMark stress tests, I was getting AMD driver timeouts in Hunt: Showdown 1896.
I’ve since moved to a less aggressive efficiency-focused tune.
Current GPU tuning (AMD Adrenalin)
Max GPU frequency offset: −150 MHz
Voltage offset: −60 mV
VRAM frequency: 2550 MHz
Memory timing: Fast Timing
Power limit: 0%
Fan curve: Custom, Zero RPM disabled
3DMark Steel Nomad results
With this tune at 0% power limit:
Graphics score: 7,636
Average FPS: 76.36
20-loop stress test: 98.3% stability – PASS
Best loop: 7,645
Worst loop: 7,518
I also experimented with +10% power limit, which increased the score to 7,763, but the extra power draw and fan noise weren’t worth the small performance gain for me.
Real-world gaming – Hunt: Showdown 1896
Running at 2560×1440 with a 144 FPS RTSS cap:
FPS: 144
99th percentile FPS: 132–135
Microstutter: 0.0%
GPU temperature: Around 40–45°C in the captured readings
GPU power: Varies significantly by scene and load
Most importantly, I’ve managed 1 hour and 30 minutes of Hunt gameplay without a single driver timeout.
That’s particularly encouraging because Hunt was previously crashing even when the GPU passed synthetic stress tests.
Rest of my system
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X3D
Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING
RAM: 64GB DDR4-3600 CL18 (1800 MHz FCLK, 1:1)
GPU: Sapphire RX 9070 XT NITRO+ 16GB
PSU: MSI MAG A1000GLS PCIE5 1000W
Monitor: MSI 1440p 240Hz FreeSync
My thoughts
I’m not trying to get the highest possible benchmark score. I’m more interested in keeping most of the card’s performance while reducing unnecessary power consumption, heat and noise.
The biggest lesson so far is that passing a 3DMark stress test doesn’t guarantee gaming stability.
I’m still testing this profile over longer gaming sessions, so I wouldn’t call it fully proven yet.
Anyone else running a 9070 XT NITRO+ with a similar efficiency-focused undervolt? Curious what settings you’ve found stable, especially in Hunt: Showdown.

I am the guy from here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/radeon/comments/1x6tc5o/downgraded_a_bit_from_5080_to_sapphire_9070_xt/

I noticed the card was boosting into instability, way above the max clock of my Pulse XT which is 2970Mhz.

So I had to configure Adrenalin to limit max clock to the specified value and now all works, hopefully. Offset -480Mhz but I am sure I could live with higher settings.

How is this possible they have this problem? It should be an easy fix at driver level, no?

Tech Support XFX MERCURY OR SAPPHIRE PULSE

• Upvotes

I'm in India and building a gaming PC with an RX 9070 XT. My friend lives in Germany and could buy the card there for me, but I know the warranty would be unusable in India.
In Germany the XFX Mercury OC costs about the same as the Sapphire 9070 XT in India. I've heard the Mercury is a great card with excellent cooling, but I'm confused about which one to pick.
Should I buy the Sapphire in India with a local warranty, or have my friend buy XFX MERCURY OC in Germany and live with the warranty risk? Does anyone here have any experience with this?

Discussion New Card, Who Dis

Found an Open Box (Excellent Condition) Gigabyte OC 9070 XT at Best Buy for $730. I legit couldn’t find a better deal on a 9070 XT (new or open box anywhere else at the time of purchasing. I have had nothing but positive experiences with Best Buy’s Open Box items so I felt really comfortable going this route.

It came in today and it looked practically brand new. The box itself had some wear and tear but the card, well it had no noticeable use and even had the PCI connector cover still with it.

There was an Open Box label on the box and said “printed on 10/14” which is the day I bought it so idk if I just got lucky on my timing and legit got it the day it was added to BB’s inventory or if it had been sitting and then they just made a label because someone bought it.

From what I’ve been hearing from content creators, it’s probably the best time to buy a card for a while as prices will rise with HBM/GDDR shortages. Even if they don’t, I still feel I got a great deal on an OC 9070 XT (even if the OC is marginal at best)

Can’t wait to take it for a drive and see how it performs compared to my 6700XT. Better, no doubt lol

Tech Support Weird Sound From new gpu

• Upvotes

Hello, I built this pc a month ago. So, I'm very new to this sort of things. I am hearing this sound very recently coming from the gpu. It does not feel that loud compared to video but it can be heard a little over faintly with panel closed and speakers at 60 percent. When panel is opened, it can be heard very clearly but not as loud as video as it was captured by phone at full volume.

Initially I thought it came from cpu cooler but looks like it is coming from gpu when cp2077 is paused, this sound is not present when gpu is at idle at windows.

Same issue is persistent while playing silksong These are my specs

CPU : AMD Ryzen 7600

GPU: Asrock Challenger OC 9060xt 16gb 2fan

Cooler: Thermalright Assassin X 120 R Digital

PSU: Corsair CX650 650watt bronze

Power limit = - 10%

Undervolt = - 50mV

Custom Fan Curve set to aggressive since I live in a tropical region

AMD FSR Upscaling turned on

These are only the settings I touched in AMD Adrenaline and the version is 26.7.1

The only thing I can understand this sound is not present at full load in games like cp2077, spider man remastered, far cry 5 etc. Only when GPU Utilization is low

I would much appreciate your response and feedback. Please kindly help me! This is my first pc and I'm newbie to this stuff.

AMDLSS5 1.3.0 – DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on RX 9070 XT: faster network, better faces, answers to your questions (RE Requiem 4K video)

v1.3.0 is out. Thanks for all the feedback last time — here are answers to the most common questions.

⬇️ Download: https://github.com/Wehaveall/AMDLSS5/releases/latest

(download AMDLSS5-1.3.0.zip from Releases, not the green "Code" button)

---

**"How is this different from Daniel's mod?"**

It's built on Daniel's (danielblnc) DLSS-NR-on-AMD port — full credit to him. On top of it:

- Faster: in my RE Requiem 4K test, ~68–81 FPS vs ~61 with the original, same settings

- Extra detail on faces

- In-game menu (End) to tweak strength and quality live

- Installer that checks the game, installs, and uninstalls cleanly

**"What's the performance cost? Is it playable?"**

Honest answer: it's a big neural network, so it costs FPS. In RE Requiem on my 9070 XT it goes from ~160 to ~100 FPS without frame gen, which I find playable. You can add Frame Generation on top of it (the video shows the gameplay WITHOUT framegen). Heavier games will hurt more — if you want max FPS, this isn't for you (yet).

**"Does it conflict with ReShade?"**

The mod is a version.dll proxy, so it doesn't replace ReShade's files (dxgi.dll / d3d12.dll). I haven't tested them together, though. If the game crashes, disable ReShade first and let me know.

**"Does it work in Alan Wake 2 / other games?"**

It needs a DirectX 12 game that ships FSR 3.1 as separate DLLs next to the exe. Tested: Resident Evil Requiem, Cyberpunk 2077, Monster Hunter Wilds, Onimusha: Way of the Sword (demo). Games with FSR built into the exe won't work. I can only add games I own — if you test one, please report it.

**"Older Radeons?"**

RDNA 4 only (RX 9070 / 9070 XT). RX 7000 and older aren't supported.

---

⚠️ Turn off the Adrenalin metrics overlay before playing — it can hang the GPU while the game loads.

Antivirus: one engine on VirusTotal flags the zip. False positive — proxy-DLL mods trigger heuristics. Installer source is in the repo.

Hobby project, free, not affiliated with NVIDIA or AMD. Bug reports → GitHub Issues. RX 9070 (non-XT) owners, I'd love your results!

Discussion Have any of you tried FSR 4 lite/lossy? Well, it’s amazing.

AMD need to seriously get their shit together, at this point the modding community is coming out with updates ate a blistering pace compared to AMD. It’s damn embarrassing and is really aggravating. Anyways, FSR lite/lossy is awesome. It performs similarly to FSR 3 and looks almost identical to base FSR. Seriously impressive, AMD needs to come out with an official implementation so multiplayer games can have it.

Edit - for RDNA 2 your mileage may vary. On my 7900 XTX I didn’t notice the image quality issues that a lot of people are describing on their RDNA 2 GPUs.

Tech Support Undervolting for coil whine and better performance?

Hello all,

I recently built a new pc and got a 9070xt mercury oc, and it's a huge upgrade from my legendary 1080ti.

I was tabbing through things playing WoW (GPU about 90%) and noticed a slight stutter then mini crash with an AMD report and some coil whine too reaching the 90-95% GPU usage. Temps are immaculate as 45-55ish for hours though as is CPU.

Is anyone able to provide a guide for undervolting to avoid coil whine and also it seems from videos that undervolting somehow makes the GPU perform better? I have gathered that undervolting is unique to every GPU with a 'silicon lottery' but is there a good general base point to go off?

I'm not a super techy guy, just like gaming and know the basics of building a pc but not in depth things about hardware so any help is appreciated, thanks.

Edit: it is a fresh build just over a week ago with all the newest drivers installed to recent date when built.

Sapphire RX 7800 XT Pulse - Undervolt advice for Coil Whine reduction?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a Sapphire RX 7800 XT Pulse. The card performs great, but I am experiencing noticeable coil whine, especially in high-FPS games like CS2.

Since I mainly play FPS games, losing 5-10% performance is completely fine for me if I can quiet down the coil noise and lower temperatures.

I am currently testing these custom settings in AMD Software:

  • Max Frequency: 2300 MHz
  • Min Frequency: 100 MHz
  • Voltage: 1025 mV
  • Power Limit: -5%

The noise is slightly reduced, but I want to optimize it further.

What are your recommended undervolt settings for this specific model? How low can I safely push the frequency and voltage while keeping the system stable?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Discussion Brand new gaming PC experiencing full system freezes and games crashing to desktop – tried numerous fixes, need advice

Title: Brand new gaming PC experiencing full system freezes and games crashing to desktop – tried numerous fixes, need advice

Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a prebuild gaming PC for approximately £1,900 from Computer Orbit, and I’ve been experiencing so much stability issues since receiving it.
I’m hoping someone here has experienced something similar or can help me narrow down the cause before I have to return the entire system.

PC specifications
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000MT/s
Motherboard: ASRock Steel Legend
Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD (Windows installed) + 2TB Crucial NVMe SSD
OS: Windows 11

Issues I’m experiencing

1. Full system freezes
The entire computer will occasionally freeze, sometimes while gaming and other times when simply using Windows.
When this happens:
The display becomes completely unresponsive.
The mouse and keyboard stop responding.
Sometimes the last few seconds of audio repeat continuously.
I’m forced to restart the computer manually.
I’ve experienced this in Destiny 2 and even while using the desktop/Event Viewer.

2. Games randomly crashing to desktop
Multiple games have crashed without any obvious explanation, including:
Destiny 2: Random crashes to desktop, sometimes without an error message.
Apex Legends: Crashes during gameplay, occasionally displaying an error.
Counter-Strike 2: Crashed while accessing the Steam Community Market.
Valorant: Experienced crashes despite otherwise running well.
The crashes aren’t consistent. Sometimes I can play for an extended period without any problems, while other times a game crashes relatively quickly.

3. Other strange behaviour
I’ve also experienced:
Brief black-screen flickering when launching or playing games.
AMD Adrenalin occasionally becoming unresponsive.
Desktop freezing/stuttering when interacting with AMD software.
ASRock Polychrome RGB/ASRRGBLED causing driver-related warnings.

Troubleshooting I’ve already attempted
I’ve spent several days trying to identify the cause.

GPU drivers and software
Used DDU to completely remove AMD graphics drivers.
Reinstalled AMD Adrenalin and updated GPU drivers.
Tested different AMD driver versions.
Investigated potential driver conflicts.
Uninstalled ASRock Polychrome RGB software.
Investigated ASRRGBLED processes and driver conflicts.
Disabled settings associated with display flickering.

RAM and stability
Ran MemTest to check for memory errors.
Ran OCCT RAM stability testing.
Neither test identified an obvious RAM fault.
Discovered the RAM was running at 6000MT/s.
Disabled EXPO in the BIOS, reducing RAM speed to 4800MT/s.
Initially experienced noticeably improved stability with EXPO disabled.
After disabling EXPO, I managed approximately seven consecutive Destiny 2 Crucible matches without crashing, whereas previously I was experiencing frequent crashes.
However, I’ve since experienced another Destiny 2 crash, so I can’t confidently say EXPO was the sole cause.

Windows and system checks
Ran Windows system repair/integrity checks, including DISM.
Investigated Windows Event Viewer.
Collected Windows crash dumps and Windows Error Reporting files.
Examined game crash reports.
Checked CPU and GPU temperatures under load, with no obvious overheating.
Monitored system performance, frame times and utilisation.
Despite all this, I haven’t managed to establish a definitive cause.

The system performs extremely well when it’s working. For example, I’m getting around 550–600 FPS in CS2 at 1440p, so performance itself isn’t the problem.
I’ve contacted the retailer regarding a possible repair or replacement, but I’m based in Northern Ireland and would prefer to avoid shipping the entire PC back to England if there’s a reliable fix I can perform myself.

Has anyone experienced similar issues with an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, Ryzen X3D processor or DDR5 EXPO setup?

Are there any specific tests, BIOS settings or crash dump indicators you’d recommend checking to determine whether this is a hardware fault or a software/driver issue?
Any advice would be appreciated. I’m running out of things to try.

Tech Support Switching from GeForce to Radeon? Please read this. How to make the transition from NVIDIA's ecosystem to AMD easier.

Note: While not everything, this is going to include a lot of stuff. So If you read something that might be common knowledge to you; skip past it.

I've read a lot of posts on here and r/buildapc of people switching from GeForce to Radeon, for one reason or another. So I wanted to put together a simple guide covering the important things to do when making the switch.

1. Remove your NVIDIA drivers properly.

  • Download the latest AMD Adrenalin driver from the official AMD website.
  • Download DDU.
  • Boot into Safe Mode, use DDU to remove your NVIDIA drivers, and select the option to clean and shut down.
  • Install your AMD GPU, boot into Windows, and install Adrenalin.

You don't need to reinstall Windows just because you're switching GPU brands.

2. Set up AMD Adrenalin.

Adrenalin is AMD's equivalent of Nvidia's app and control panel. It lets you manage drivers, game settings, recording, performance monitoring, GPU tunings and all that jazz.

Instead of tell you what to do here, check out Hardware Unboxed's (HUB) YouTube video on how to configure AMD Adrenaline. It's the best place to start if you're unsure which settings to enable or disable.

3. Windows Settings to Check.

Once you're booted into Windows with your new drivers installed:

  • Disable Fast Startup: Windows Fast Startup bypasses clean driver initialization when booting up, which often leads to random black screens or driver timeouts. Turn it off in Control Panel > Power Options.
  • Stop Windows from overwriting your drivers (!!!): Windows Update has a bad habit replacing AMD drivers with an older generic version.

4. What Causes (most) AMD Drivers to Crash and to fix it.

  • Windows Driver Overwrites: As mentioned above, Windows pulling a older driver over Adrenalin while you play is the #1 culprit. Block Windows updates for GPU drivers to prevent this.
  • Unstable undervolting or overclocking: This includes GPU tuning, CPU overclocks, and unstable RAM settings such as EXPO.
  • Daisy-Chained Power Cables: Radeon cards love clean power way more than NVIDIA. Do not use a single PCIe power cable with a split/pig-tail end. Use separate power cables running directly from your PSU to each GPU port.
  • Hardware Acceleration Conflicts: Discord, Spotify, etc. hardware acceleration can sometimes fight Adrenalin during background playback. Turning hardware acceleration off in Discord or Chrome stops random desktop black screens.

5. Don't rush into GPU tuning.

Use your GPU at stock settings for a while before experimenting with undervolting or overclocking. Adrenalin has built-in tuning tools that can help reduce power consumption, temps, and fan noise. But every GPU is different, so don't blindly copy someone else's settings from Reddit or anywhere else. If you experience crashes after tuning, return to stock settings first.

6. Ditch GeForce Experience Habits

You don't need MSI Afterburner just for basic tweaks. Adrenalin has built-in fan curves, performance monitoring overlays, and a safe 1-click Undervolt/Overclock tool right under the Performance tab. Undervolting a Radeon card is super easy and usually keeps it running cooler and quieter with zero effort.

7. "But I want to use MSI Afterburner/RivaTuner for the FPS overlay and Adrenaline for everything else, can I?"

Yes. MSI Afterburner and Adrenalin constantly fight for control of the GPU (If you have MSI Afterburner installed, even if you don't actively use it, and have ever wondered why your Adrenalin settings keep reverting to default after restarting your PC or waking it from sleep, this is why.) If you are like me and want to use Adrenalin for all your overclocking, undervolting, and fan curves, but you still want Afterburner and RivaTuner (RTSS) for the in-game FPS overlay, you have to put Afterburner into a read-only mode. Otherwise, it overrides Adrenalin and wipes your settings.

  1. Open up MSI Afterburner and go into the settings. In the General tab, make sure "Enable hardware control and monitoring" is checked so it can still read your temps and usage for the OSD. But the trick is that you need to go to the Fan tab and completely uncheck "Enable user defined software automatic fan control."
  2. Next, look at the main Afterburner dashboard. Make sure every single slider like core voltage, power limit, and clock speed is left at its stock default value. Do not touch them. Most importantly, look for the startup icon, which looks like a little Windows logo. Make sure that icon is turned off and not glowing blue. This stops Afterburner from applying any hardware changes when Windows boots.
  3. Finally, Windows Fast Startup can also cause problems by loading Afterburner before Adrenalin has a chance to apply your profile. Go to your Windows Control Panel, find Power Options, and click on "Choose what the power buttons do." Click the option at the top to change settings that are currently unavailable, and uncheck "Turn on fast startup."

Once you do this, RivaTuner will still show your FPS and hardware stats perfectly in-game, but Afterburner will stop touching your GPU. Adrenalin will keep your fan curves and undervolts locked in.

Finally

Switching from NVIDIA to AMD doesn't have to be complicated. It really doesnt. Hopefully this guide helps make the transition a little easier for anyone getting their first Radeon GPU. And no, this wasn't written by AI. I know it's a bit long for Reddit and I have no idea if this will even get upvoted, It might just be left in the void. But I wanted to put things in one place so people don't have to dig through dozens of different posts to figure things out.

Save this post if you're intending to switch to AMD soon or for Next-Gen RDNA5/UDNA. It will definitely help you.

Discussion Ray Regeneration 1.2 on RDNA 3 PoC

Thumbnail
gallery
57 Upvotes

I managed to extract, modify, and recompile the Ray Regeneration model to run on FP16 instead of FP8. It's a similar process to how it works on Linux with Proton FP8 emulation, only the model gets converted ahead of time and not on the driver side.

This is for RDNA 3 GPUs. It will not run on RDNA 2 or NVIDIA/Intel GPUs.

It is currently very heavy. Enabling it increases the frametime by about 22ms at 1440P Performance upscaling on my 7800XT, but Crimson Desert enables some hidden RT features with RR so it's not an accurate statistic.

Note that it can take up to 10 minutes to initialise the denoiser due to the currently very unoptimised shader compilation process. When you enable it your game will freeze, and you'll have to let it run for a bit. After that you can toggle it on and off without any freeze in that game, even after a restart.

Here's the download link https://github.com/realdody/rrdna3/releases/tag/1.2

It should work in any Ray Regeneration 1.2 game, which I believe is just Warhammer Darktide and Crimson Desert for now.

XFX 9070 XT Driver Timeout solution (for now?)

TLDR: Just updated Windows 11 to 26H2 and Adrenaline to 26.9.2, clean install. Watch out and avoid Windows update weird AMD drivers.

Hey guys, I have a fresh Windows 11 install and I was having the damn timeout issue, mainly with Battlefield 6, although it happened once with Arc Raiders and Onimusha. Diablo 2 R never crashed but I guess it's not demanding at all.

BF6 on the other hand was driving me crazy.

Then I installed W11 26H2 update and latest AMD driver (26.9.2). I didn't installed AMD diver first because it was confusing saying it's optional (not sure how these kind of versioning works), but I think the Windows part was the actual solution, since I'm finally 2 days playing without issues.

Just a clarification, I also installed some weird version of the graphics in the Windows Update screen for AMD, I think most of the people here knows, but it just broke my Adrenaline installations, it didn't opened anymore and I didn't tried but I'm sure it would cause issues with the games. I immediately downloaded AMD cleanup tool and reinstalled 26.9.2 and everything back to normal. If anyone knows what's the cleaner way of preventing this updates let me know!

Not saying it's the solution for everyone but double check which version of W11 you are.
Keep in mid this is a fully fresh install after I gifted my i7700K and GTX 1070 <3 PC to my 9yo child.

Specs:

XFX Mercury RX 9070 XT
Ryzen 5 9600x
Kingston KC3000 512 GB (Windows 11)
KLEVV 32GB DDR5 6000 with EXPO (tested with memtest just in case)
Asus TUF B850 Wifi Plus
Asus TUF 850w

Hope it helps!
