Recommendation Iāve been building an arcade drift game by myself ā now it has Android + PC local multiplayer
Hey! Iāve been working on a small arcade drift racing game called Drift Fast Money and Iām finally at a point where Iād really like some feedback from people who actually enjoy racing/drifting games.
The idea is pretty simple: fast arcade handling, controllable drifts and races against AI that doesnāt just follow the racing line. The drivers have different behaviours and personalities, so some are more aggressive, some drift more, defend positions, attack, etc.
Right now it has:
- 12 tracks
- Practice races against AI
- Daily races
- Weekly Challenge with online leaderboards
- Drift scoring and unlockable cosmetics
- Controller support
- Android + Windows versions
- Local split-screen multiplayer on PC
The PC version is especially fun with friends because you can play locally with controllers (or keyboard + controller) and race each other with AI on track too.
Itās still a beta and Iām developing it mostly on my own, so Iām sure there are things that can be improved. If anyone tries it, Iād genuinely be interested in hearing what you think about the handling, AI, performance or anything that feels weird.
Android:
https://nicombo.itch.io/drift-fast-money
PC:
https://nicombo.itch.io/drift-fast-money-pc
Both are on itch.io.
If you try it, feel free to absolutely destroy it in the comments š Feedback is more useful to me right now than people just saying itās good. 10

Discussion Is this a good game loop?
I am making Velocity, a street racer that runs in the browser and on Steam. For a long time the whole game was one thing: drive until you crash, check your score, go again. It's a fine loop for 10 minutes. I could feel it going flat after that, and I wasn't sure what the next layer should be.
This month I built the layer. It's five steps.
Run. A normal run on the highway. Pickups, drifts, traffic. Nothing new here, and it's still the part that decides everything else.
Stash. If you make it far enough, a CALL STASH button appears. You drive into a parking garage, climb to the roof, stop in the bay, and the run ends with the car saved as a copy in your Chop Shop. You don't have to crash to get the car. You have to survive long enough to get to the garage.
Strip. In the Chop Shop the car you brought home is unclaimed. You strip parts off it to claim it. The turbo, the supercharger, the camshaft, the coilovers are each their own part you can take or leave on.
Build. Paint, decals, parts, upgrades. In addition to customizing its looks, you can also swap in the parts you own and build your star car.
Race. From the garage you can take the car back out against one rival. You start on the roof, you drive down through the building, you come out on the street. It's short on purpose.
That's the loop. Here's what I'm unsure about.
The stash only works if the run before it was tense. If you reach the garage on a run where nothing was at risk, the whole thing is a menu with a driving cutscene in front of it. I've watched myself do exactly that. The run needs to be in danger when the button appears, and I don't know yet that it is.
Strip is the weakest step. I set a limit of 6 parts for each car to generate builds between different cars. No one car can do everything.
Race is the least tested. One rival, one way down. It works, but I have not seen a stranger play it, so "it works" means it doesn't crash.
I'm a bad judge of whether this is fun. I've played these cars for so long that I drive around the rough parts without noticing. I'd trust a stranger's first 10 minutes over my own hundred hours.
Questions for anyone who plays racing games:
- When a run ends, do you want something to do with it, or do you want to be back in the next run in two seconds? Is a garage a reward or a speed bump?
- Is "keep a copy of the car you survived with" a good hook, or does it make the crashes feel cheaper?
- If you've shipped a loop with a build step in the middle, did players actually use it, or did they skip to the race?
- How bad is it if you lose your star car?

Recommendation Just bought a Moza R5. Which games I should try?
I've just bought my first sim bundle (R5 Racing). Which games would you suggest me to try?
- I am into racing and casual city drive
- My wife on the other hand has 10 days left for her driving license exam so she wants to practice city traffic and parking etc lol
Here are some candidates:
- Forza Horizon 6
- Assetto Corsa
- Gran Turismo 7
- BeamNG.drive
- City Car Driving 2
- Automobilista 2 (heard that this has the best VR implementation. I have Quest 2, so maybe..)
- Dirt Rally 2.0
- iRacing
- American Truck Simulator
Also, what are the best mods for these games?

News My tap-throttle drag racer swapped its blocky cars for real bodies ā before/after at night
The physics was always the serious part of this game. The cars were not and the players did not appreciate that. Now the three demo cars have finally new models at the real width of the cars they're based on, wheels at real size, headlights that shine out of the glass.
Do you think this was the right step at this point in time? There's so much other stuff to do (way more than 10!) and it's getting harder to prioritize the right tasks.

Discussion Finally added online co-op multiplayer to my motorsport management game on steam
Hey everyone, just wanted to share that I've finally released online co-op multiplayer for my motorsport management game, Delta Manager. You can now play and manage a team together with a friend.
It's been a big update to work on, so I'm pretty happy to finally have it out. If anyone's interested, here's the Steam page.

Help Native MotorStorm (PS3) on Mac and iPhone, without an emulator. Looking for help.
galleryI have wanted, for many years, to play the PS3 version of MotorStorm on an iPhone, an iPad and a Mac.
With a lot of help from strong AI models, it now runs natively on Apple Silicon. The game is compiled ahead of time and drawn with Metal, so this is a native app rather than an emulator. It is clear to me now that this is actually possible.
On macOS it is playable, and races reach about 30 FPS. It is still heavier than I want. On a MacBook Pro M5 the fan starts after a while, so there is room to make it lighter.
On iPhone it also runs, and reaches about 20 FPS, but it needs more work. The aim is more speed without letting the phone get too hot.
The Mac and iPhone apps are separate. The repository does not include the game. You need your own copy of MotorStorm Complete Edition, title ID BCES00006, version 03.10.
https://github.com/nossramo/motorstorm-ps3
If you know Metal, ARM, the PS3 or the SPU, or you simply want to help test, I would like company. The goal is to make both the macOS and iOS versions properly smooth.
