Quitting is hard. You need to really want to quit.

I’m gonna be going into the psycho-analyst side of quitting- as after physical withdrawal that’s all you’re left with. I’ve always wanted to quit. I was on kratom for 5 years, and I knew it wasn’t good for me, it was unnecessary, and had more negatives than it ever would positives. Kratom does this thing where when you’re on it, your emotions are dull. Since your emotions are dull, it’s easier to not think about the harm it’s causing. It’s the path of least resistance, and it keeps you in your place. For me, whenever I was met with adversity, I’d take kratom. Work is hard right now? Kratom. Feeling a little low on energy? Kratom. Do you feel like a failure? Kratom. Feeling terrible? Extract. It’s a bandaid for your life. If you don’t learn how to deal with your problems without a quick fix, you’ve lost the game. Your brain will justify using kratom, and it’s almost certain you’re going back on it. But it feels terrible to not have a quick fix. I think it’s almost impossible if you don’t have something. If you fall backwards, and no one’s there to catch your fall, you’ll hit the floor. If you hit the floor enough, you’ll beg and scream for that person to come back… to catch you again. So instead, you need pillows to catch you, maybe you get a trampoline to spring you back up. You need to replace the kratom with something. Pick anything that doesn’t remind you of kratom. Something novel enough to draw your attention away while you’re thinking about kratom. It doesn’t last long, and a craving is finite. If you keep caving into your cravings, you think you’re proving to yourself a life without kratom is not possible. It then sparks a feedback loop that will go on forever. The only reason you’re caving in, that it feels so impossible to not take it is because it’s all you know. What do you think everyone else does when they’re bored, want to feel something, feel terrible, or sad? Everyone has developed their own unique something. For me, I listen to a song or draw. For you, it could be playing with slime or something lol I don’t know hahaha. Figure it out. Figure out why kratom is not good for you. Why it’s absolutely horrendous and why you’re certain you will never take it again. Write it down. Come back to it, read it a few times. Get it in your brain. For me, it made me constipated, it isolated me from other people, and I had to hide from the people I love and trust. It made my hair fall out. I noticed days after I quit that my stubble grew in daily. I wasted my money on something that wasn’t really fixing the problems I came to it for anymore. It made my skin and nails fragile and dull. It’s okay to look back at it fondly. There were some good times with kratom, and I know we all felt that. We wouldn’t have come back time and time again if there wasn’t. But you are now a different person. This doesn’t work anymore. It was a chemical reaction that gave you a false sense of freedom.

Thanks for reading my kratom manifesto.

Don’t go back to the old house.

Almost done with withdrawals, but restless legs killing me

I used between 9-21 grams (meaning up to 42 500mg capsules) of loose leaf for the past three months. Never tried 7-oh, never tried any concentrate. I tried to stop the capsules immediately but the restless legs are killing me. Im a father of two kids under 3, and a wife who needs help with childcare. I also work each day. I can manage the anxiety and other withdrawal symptoms, and have been while reducing my take from 21 grams at my most to at most 7 grams (14 capsules) at night to help sleep the past 4 days. But I'm trying to stop it completely and the inability to fall asleep and the restlessness are killing me and taking my ability to function during the day away. How long does this restless leg last? Should I ask my doctor for some gabapentin (which I believe helps with restless leg) or Trazadone to help fall asleep? Once I'm asleep I'm fine, but it's the falling asleep that's killing me. Any advice is deeply appreciated.

When Will the insomnia end?

Tell me, when will this insomnia end? I stopped kratom six days ago after using about fifteen to twenty grams a day for around a year. Today is day six, and I still have stomach problems and severe insomnia. Other symptoms are fine by now. Over the past six days, I've been sleeping for only about one hour a day, in short stretches of no more than ten/twenty minutes. I'm leaving for Thailand in a few days, and I was given hydroxyzine to help me sleep. That's supposed to work for four to five hours according to my doctor. However, last night I only slept for about two to two and a half hours after taking the pill. During the night, I had to take another dose, which allowed me to sleep for another two to two and a half hours. When will it end? I am doing 12 hours shifts and this is killing me. Also i am afraid that this will ruin my vacation in Thailand. I know that kratom is legal there, but i want to stop completly with this stuff.

Tried a 2 hour massage

151 hours, 6 days CT. Tapered down for a year from 50-60 gpd to 20-30 over the last month or so but kept cheating. I was quite miserable. I sucked it up - went out of the house for only the 2nd time in 6 days. I feel quite a bit better at this point. All my muscles are/were in knots! Fuck Kratom! I curse the day I picked it up!

A message of hope and a funny story, 2 years later

Hi guys. 2 years ago I fought the beast and finally won. With the help of this amazing sub, I have been k free for 2 years (minus one 5 day relapse). Life hasn't been easy but omg it has been so much better off the sludge. I was using up to 60gpd of the leaf powder (for 4 years). With help from this sub, I tapered down to 12 gpd and then jumped. The wds were a lot worse than I expected for a "gas station drug".

Which brings me to why I thought to post here. I recently came down with a gnarly flu but didnt realize it. I woke up in what I thought were acute withdrawls. I was so confused at 2 am, trying to figure out wtf i could possibly be withdrawing from (nothing, lol). As I writhed around in my bed, sweating and shivering and in legit pain, I realized i have some kind of flu. And then it hit me, withdrawl use to be more normal to me than catching a virus. This is the first flu I have had since my quit. It is crazy that my mind went immediately to "oh shit here we go wding again" instead of "what virus did I catch?". Lol

Addiction is a genuinely wild and terrifying ride. I am eternally grateful that I managed to quit kratom before it killed me. It took me a dozen quits before it stuck. So the moral of my story is NEVER STOP QUITTING. It will finally click and then you will be free. I am free as long as i dont take that first dose. I have all the power over the first one and so do you. You got this and I am incredibly proud of anyone trying to quit. Bless you all 💜

How long these goddamn acutes last

I've quit 7 days ago after 28 day taper. Given that my body adjusted to many WD symptoms during taper, final cut acutes were different - no RLS, sleep is solid but fatigue, anhedonia, tiredness is overwhelming. It's getting better but slowly. Motivation comes in waves.

How long did acute WDs last for you?

Background: 40-45gpd for 3 years

I relapsed 1 month after beeing sober for 9 months

What should I say…it’s just disappointing…
I used Kratom while beeing sick and needed to set up a gig…I mean it helped…the problem is..I never stopped after I recovered again.

I am now sober since Sunday 23:00. And I shit you now would I have taken Kratom yesterday if my local supplier hadn’t have closed yesterday.

And I know all this shit, now in the morning I can write this shit and as soon as it gets afternoon it doesn’t mean anything more..then only Kratom becoms important.

An I didn’t even take that much (if you compare it with last year) I used about 200g since 19.09…nethertheless the cravings and the wd feels way worse than the last time.

I hate all this shit

Good news!

So I’ve been using kratom for 6 years before that a pretty decent drinker. Clean off all substances except nicotine for 18 days. Alcohol since 2015.

I have been living with anxiety for 20 years. My anxiety is almost always health triggered. Oh my arm hurts? Am I dying? Is this a heart attack? Etc. One of the many reasons I started kratom to silence my mind

Quit kratom 18 days ago and still have awful abdominal pain and discomfort.

I pushed my pcp to order blood work and ultrasound on my abdomen to check how healthy my liver and other organs are. Blood work was pristine. Ultrasound was unremarkable, meaning everything was healthy.

This literally took my anxiety from a near 8 or 9 every day down to like a 2 or 3. I am literally crying I am so happy right now.

I thought I did irreparable damage to my body, but it seems I’m ok. Now I can focus on my recovery and try to be a healthier, stronger and more emotionally available person.

If your an anxious person like me around your health I’d highly recommend you do what I did and get checked. Weight off your chest bare minimum. And at worst they find something and you know about it and can game plan.

I messed up, friends

A few weeks after successfully quitting kratum I decided to try the new cat's claw supplement that was at my local head shop. When the effects hit me I knew immediately that it was a kratum derivative.

But I couldn't stop after that. It became just such an easy crutch to pop forth of a pill to get through the day. That became an addiction of 200 mg a day for 2 months.

I'm now on day 8 of MGM 15 withdrawal. Start it with the classic restless legs and insomnia and now I'm on to the just constant anxiety and agitation.

I really really really wanna get off this addiction train but Jesus I miss how it made me feel.

Took my last dose at 11pm last night. Today went pretty well. Felt normal, just very tired so I took a few naps. It’s currently 2:30am I’ve been trying to sleep since 11pm. Every time I almost fall asleep my arms feel the need to move and it runs up into my chest. I’ve given up on sleeping I looked it up and the 50mg of Seroquel I took at 11pm is apparently making restlessness in my chest and arms worse. This is awful I’m so tired but can’t stay still for more than 20 mins. Not sure what to do honestly. I’m going to ask my doctor for gabapentin in the morning but wow this is going to be a rough night.

Edit: I made it through the night and I feel amazing this morning. Thank you so much for all the encouragement seriously!
I Didn’t fall asleep until 5am but I woke up at 11am this morning and I feel fine, was I even addicted to anything? I can’t help but feel like I was a bit dramatic last night but I also know it was absolute hell switching from the couch to my bed to the floor. Doing push ups and putting cold packs on. I’m so glad I’m through that and didn’t relapse like I wanted to so bad. I expect the same thing to happen to me tonight, guess I just have to fight though it.

Quitting 7oh

Has anyone taken cats eye(KLAZ, script, etc) to stop 7oh and once you knew the physical withdrawal symptoms of stopping 7oh passed you then stopped cat eyes as well. Did you have withdrawal from cat eyes? I’m getting told from my smoke shops that there are no withdrawal from the cat eyes. Please someone help, I need to get off of this so bad. PS: I’m new to taking cat eyes.

7 DAYS, 1 week ct.

Here we go again! Been eating A LOT, a privilege I have maybe is that i would never take extracts in the evening/ night, only in the day time so maybe i'd be withdrawing all night but not as bad and now that i've left cold turkey maybe my body was more prepared...I feel energized and I feel like i have all these plans and things I have to take care of, things i was too lazy/ sluggish to do in kratom addiction...future planning, not seeing how i can keep my habit up like before. I feel like i have a lot of catching up with myself to do.

Any have success with microdosing?

Has anyone tried microdosing mushies after they were past the accutes? I'm 3 months out and still dealing with bad depresion. Was thinking about microdosing to see if it helps.

I know this is a bit off topic but I am desperate and have tried antidepressants in the past with little to no benefit. Also don't have insurance so can't get a Rx even if I wanted to. I just need some relief from the depresion! This is what caused me to relapse last time. I'm not having cravings or thinking about using right now but I can feel it getting worse.

Intestinal damage from 7oh?

Ive been having something going on, took 7oh for about 1 year 500mg a day, in the first few months i remember getting this uncomfortable feel in my intestine, i video visited my doctor and had liver and kidney test and was completely fine.

Went on using 7oh for another 8 months until i developed what felt like heart palpations after meals, like 1 to 2 hr after a meal id stand up and walk to the next room and my heart rate would jump up into 135bpm along with the palpations feel and id be Shakey af i would have to sit down and calm down,

Spent the last month on 7oh i had to watch my heart rate 24/7, i was feeling twitching thru mu intestine every day, 1 to 2 hr after a meal i would get almost dizzy, like near sited my vision would be off my not quiet blurry, few times i ate something spicy or drank a cold smothy and i could feel it 10 mins later running down my right side intestine like a tingling sensation,

Ive been in and out of doctors offices, had my blood work done 5 times all is completely fine, had xrays and an ultrasound both were fine, im currently wearing a heart monitor for a week.

Im a month and a half off 7oh on subs and i still get these symptom, although there getting better like my heart rate went back to normal, i chart it all up to big time digestive/ intestine damage from the solvents used to extract the 7oh left behind, the symptoms might get better for 2 or 3 days then boom im completely exhausted and anxious and stressed from this feeling in my gut, its hard to work and the last 3 days at after breakfast an hr into work i get that odd vision change, its like near sited or tunnel vision with a lightheaded feeling. I had to sit down for a min, the Shakey after meals is gone, now its feels like random flare ups? Inflammation of the intestine? Making me super tired and anxious and dizzy?

It did all start with a constipation feeling, i had what looked like blood in my stool once but that was 4 months back when still using and never happened again, i would get these white bubble looking slime coving my stool a few times and when i looked it up it said its caused when the gut is stressed out.

These where/are the system i wrote down to tell the doctor

Random muscle twitching,

Cold/hot

Palpations/ heart rate

Weak

Shakey

Burning arteries feel

Stab feel in lower chest

Achey

Stomach anxiety

Bloating

Ear ringing

Head ache

Has anyone gone thru anything similar? Not from powder leaf kratom, this was caused by only 7oh, the solvents left behind, im wondering if anyone got the same thing and found a diagnosis and how long until it completely healed, thanks.

How long did you guys have WD symptoms for? I was doing a thing of MIT45 Super K a day after quitting MGM15 CT to help with the WDs. (That was my bad for taking things while not knowing what's inside them.) After those WDs this ain't so bad, I can actually leave bed and be active. Only thing is the leg aches are slightly uncomfortable, but nothing that'll keep me awake. It's been over 5ish years since I quit last (was visiting a state where it was illegal) & forgot how long the symptoms are. I'm just wondering around what mark your aches went away?

Tapering then Quitting

Going to Thailand in 4 weeks. I have to quit before the week we leave. Ive tapered from 70-80gpd to 40gpd. Brutal. Luckiky where i buy it its not expensive. (40$ for 500g). Im cutting in half on Thursday, so my withdrawals will be mostly during the weekend and hopefully by Monday its not so bad for work. Then curing in half until that Friday. My goal is to cold turkey by the friday after, so I can have 10 days free before being on a 30 hour flight. Im taking supplements and blah blah, helping a bit, but is there anything else people have used to help with the withdrawals more? This has taken over my life for 12ish years. Ive had a few 6 months stints without it, but nevertheless, I've gone back. Im tired and Im done.

Question on using subs to stop Kratom. Only for acute withdrawals 7 days or so

Can those of you who did a Suboxone taper mention what the dosing was?

I've quit cold turkey and tpering down. I'm considering using Suboxone to be more comfortable during the acute withdrawals

Edit: I think I am just going to ask for comfort meds

Day 5: update (after 2 month taper from 48+GPD) 5 years use 3 daily

Hi,

im here with an update. again a small intro, I used for 5 years . 2 was recreational and 3 was daily. only got up to 40+ GPD daily use around 8 months ago and started getting actual nerve damage from it.

ive been using gabapentin 200 mg at night. epsom salt baths the nights I can’t slee and .1mg clonadine.

i think I lucked out because my acutes have been extremely minor. I’ve been working out every day and the only acute symptoms I’ve received are restlessness (only at nigh but I can still sleep well once I get out of the bath) and absolutely the worst tummy aches of all time.

i was clinically depressed for the months I tapered down, but ever since I stopped my brain has been feeling a lot better. I’m naturally more happy throughout the day with lethargy around night time when I usually took my doses. But before I was depressed all day and then had 30 minutes of euphoria from tea, just to be depressed again. So I’d say it’s an improvement.

gonna stop taking helper meds Friday so if I get rebound insomnia it won’t really matter. Anyways please taper lads. I got down to 4GPD from 48GPD and it was rough but i truly believe it allowed me to skip the paws part of quitting, but I’ll give more updates latter to let you know.

love you all! And good luck, feel free to reach out if you’re also quitting or around my time if you want a buddy do hold you accountable

wondering why i don't have the desire to do the things i normally like to do.

then i remember I'm in a battle with this stuff and its taking my full attention. currently on day 5 of a relapse period lasting almost two weeks. before that i had quit for a month. not a lot, 3gpd, but apparently its enough to rekindle the psychological withdrawal part. its so difficult to engage in conversation or laugh because my mind is preoccupied day and night. even if i change what I'm thinking about my body reminds me.

i was doing so well and was feeling great. why did i think i could "just have a dose here and there."

I'm definitely an addict. my wife flushed everything. just hoping and praying this too shall pass.

For The New-To-Recovery Quitters...

We've been doing a weekly 'Newbie Tuesday' There Is A Way Out meeting over at kratom quitters dot com that's precisely for anyone who is either trying to quit, just quit, struggling with the process, tapering, serially relapsing, etc.

Every Tuesday at 4. You're welcome to remain anonymous and are under no obligation to be on camera or share your own story. BUT - this is precisely FOR people who need a group setting and don't want to be vibed out being around others who've been stacking up months and years.

Tapering and lots of nerve pain. Anyone they Lipoic Acid for nerve pain?

It’s supposed to help. Over in the US they give you Gabapentin but apparently in Europe the first line of treatment is Lypoic Acid and it needs to be the R-Lipoic Acid I have heard. Just started taking it last night.

What was the start of month 6 like for you?

• Upvotes

Im pretty much on the start of the 6th month. Still not feeling 100%. Does anyone get this thirsty/craving feeling? It feels like thirst but its not. I used to get it in-between kratom doses when I would withdrawl.

I was on about 40 GPD of powder kratom, not extracts ever, no 7oh or anything else.

Im currently having pretty bad back pain, I dont believe its the withdrawal and I'm getting xrays next week. But I still think some of the pain im feeling is from PAWS.

My motivation is slowly coming back, I sleep well, and my energy is definitely improving. Its been a big overall improvement this past month. I hope everyone is staying the fuck away from kratom.

Tldr: pain, thirsty feeling, 40gpd, 6 montbs clean.

Anyone have experience with prednisone during a taper or withdrawal?

Im at the tail end of a withdrawal. 100% functional but still dealing with low mood, sleep disturbances and a little anxiety. I've been battling a sinus/respiratory infection as well and the doctor prescribed me 20mg prednisone and some antibiotics. I've never taken this before but from my research l read it can trigger insomnia, mood swings and anxiety. Im kind of nervous to take it cause I don't want it to exacerbate my sleep and anxiety issues more. Anyone have any experience with this? Should I wait a little longer to take it?
