Discussion RIPTA rant allowed?
I really hate to add more negative posting to this place but I truly need to vent.
I work in elmhurst, commute via RIPTA and sometimes need to use the 92 line near Mt Pleasant High. Today I learned that they had a half day as there was a crowd at the bus stop around noon. When the driver finally came from RIC with a mostly empty bus, he looked at the group of students and I, made a big gesture with crossed arms and shook his head as he just drove past the stop at speed.
I feel like if RIPTA is to be in charge of bussing the kids in public school (the main issue at hand), they should at least be prepared for the rider demand?
Again, sorry for the vent. It's just so exhausting and disheartening to watch the service dwindle to this and have situations like these impact day to day life at least once a week.

Discussion Parking situation getting a little wild
Living between Broadway and Westminister, legitimately the entire neighborhood is under emergency no parking for up to a month now. Like no joke every street has had intermittent no parking signs posted for a week at a time since the summer but now they're ripping up every road at the same time and have every single street flagged as no parking for up to the next month based on the signs. Legit nowhere for people to park now in fully residential multi family neighborhoods and it's resulting in people doing some straight up degenerate shit to save themselves one of the few street spots left.
Never seen anything like this in the 6 years living here.

What scam is Xaco Taco running?
I've ordered delivery from them 5ish times and they always, always, always forget my drink. Always! Doordash, UberEats, doesn't matter, it's happened on every delivery app.
Thought it was just me until someone else said the same thing happens to them — they never get the drink they ordered.
Are we the only ones?
Take a moment to judge me for my choice of Mexican food and then help me get to the bottom of this!

Not having your ID on you is getting out of control
Any one else in the industry losing their minds. NO ONE carries it on them anymore. It's always "I have a picture of it..." when did this become normal??? And then I look insane for telling them I can't serve them or have you in here. Babe this is the lawwwwwwww. Why do I have to risk my job??? Don't get me started with the Gen Z stare while them holding their phone? It's $12 how are you paying????? Oh APPLE PAY??? I'm sorry I can't read fucking minds.

Package thief help ID’ing.
Does anyone recognize this guy? He removed my camera and stole my packages in the back of my house. I just moved here in May and my packages have been stolen like 3 times already. I thought a camera might help but sigh.

Event Earl Sweatshirt concert?
Anybody else in their 20s looking for a concert buddy this Friday? I’ve listened to Earl Sweatshirt since high school but I bought a single ticket thinking I’d see the show with my ex. Crazy enough, I’d prefer to pregame and rage with new friends over going on my own lmao.
I almost want to sell the ticket ($55) if anyone is interested, but it’s will call so we’d have to exchange in person. 10/23 @ The Strand, downtown PVD, doors 8pm show 9pm.
Hmu for either!

An article about 50 Sims - Can an old mill transformed into an artists’ hub offer ideas for Boston’s empty lab space?
“ A former textile manufacturing plant in Providence’s Valley neighborhood has emerged as a hub for Rhode Island’s creative community while providing a home for job training programs and businesses — there’s even a brewery on the premises”

Discussion How do you help someone who needs mental help, but doesn't want it for themselves?
Family member has a mental disorder, I believe diagnosed as schizophrenia many years back. They have ebbed and flowed between being able to hold a conversation and complete madness. They can cook and get around the State just fine, but they become borderline violent on a regular basis. The State's laws seem like the only way they're going to get help is once they cross the line and hurt someone. If you dare speak to them about getting help, that is what puts them into complete madness and near violence. They think they're totally fine, and always refuse help.
Police have been called on them numerous times and they always say there is nothing they can do, person is refusing help and did not actually be found to be acting violent.
Their parents have kicked them out of the house permanently at this point, but another family member has taken them in to prevent them from being homeless. However that person is now on the verge of having them leave as well.
Does anyone have any advice or know of some other options for this individual? It seems like they are completely trapped and the family is trying to prevent the person from becoming homeless. They need to be in a facility but they refuse to admit themselves.

Recommendations Is the GansettRunClub really inclusive of all paces?
Hello I'm interested in joining the local run club, but I am a beginner runner. I run about a 12 min mile, in anyone's experience is this club pretty good for different paces? Also how is the turn out in the fall/winter? Or should I wait until next spring?

No dance music scene in PVD? I feel like I'm losing my mind
TLDR I grew up in RI and moved back after 10+ years in NY in March of this year.
I have been checking RA regularly and can't find anything happening adjacent to my interests on any greater frequency than once every few months - events that are largely clustered around major holidays with no headlining acts that I'm familiar with.
Do I need to move back to NY?
Need I look northwards towards Boston?
Please advise!
