Hey everyone, first post here so sorry if I mess up the formatting.

So for our OS lab our professor told us to experiment with Linux. After a lot of YouTube and Reddit searching I finally settled on Pop!_OS and honestly, I'm loving it so far.

But today I went to Settings > changed font scaling from 100% to 125% and my whole screen just froze. Cursor wouldn't move, nothing worked. It was stuck like that for 15 minutes straight.

I had to search with AI and found that Ctrl + Alt + Delete forces a reboot. That finally fixed it.

Two questions:

1. Is this font scaling freeze a known bug on COSMIC 1.10.0?
2. How do I turn OFF that beep sound after every increasing/decreasing 5% of volume using volume knob. it's really annoying in the ears.
3. My system Bluetooth can't recognizing my keyboards Bluetooth. How can I fix this ?

My system: Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS | LOQ 15IRX9 | i5-13450HX + RTX 4050 512 GB SSD & 24 GB RAM

I'm using fcitx5 to write other langues in my laptop. After recently update, I can't using backspace, space, windows shortcut without turn off fcitx5. I've just reinstall fcitx5 to fix but it was happend yet. Is there anyway to fix this?

Pop shop hasn't been opening by clicking on it's icon so I tried to open it with terminal and this happened

Not sure since when, as I am not gaming much currently but I would guess since the update to 24.04 and cosmic I do not have audio in steam games. Playing audio in the steam app itself (like trailers in the steam shop) is still possible but in all games I have tried out, I have no audio. I am not able to select an audio source when I am ingame. When trying to play GTA V Legacy the rockstar launcher tells me there was no compatible audio device found and the game cannot start. Games installed through Lutris (e. g. Overwatch) do have audio however.

It seems like it is some kind of driver issue, but from what researched at least the necessary files are installed.

Does anyone have an idea how to fix this error?

I am using a Rodecaster Pro II as my standard audio device set to pro audio.

I always dread when I get a flood of updates like these batches, there's always a failure to update whenever a major flood of them arrives. This time is no different.

These updates are failing, and I have no idea why. I did recently update the firmware a number of weeks ago and I dunno if that's partially the cause. How do I fix this? Is there a simple solution or is this gonna be more complex? I'm still very much a Linux novice, a noob.

Do I have to type some stuff in the terminal? Do I have to update each individual one? Do I need to roll back to the previous firmware? Do I wait for the updates to be corrected so I can actually update them? Am I cooked and I have to reinstall?

I tried to run the regular update today on my pop_os 24.04 install and it seems according to my search online that the new/existing nvidia driver isn't supported on Kernel 7.2.6(?)

My Nvidia GPU is RTX 3060

is this just an informational error or did it actually fail?

I tried to use the cosmic upgrader and got an error something about nvida. Next I did

Sudo apt update

Sudo apt full-upgrade.

I unlocked the file systems encryption. After that it does not boot. There is a Pop os P on the screen and it never reaches the logon dialog.

I bought the computer at the beginning of the year from system 76

Lenovo P51 laptop

Fresh nvidia PopOS install, also unable to switch to dedicated graphics M2200 quadro GPU.

Did some research, aparently a fix is to use an older popos version (that has intel in its name) that better compatible with an older gpu like mine.

Also when launching games it switches to iGPU.

Hey everyone. Let me first start off by saying I'm completely new to Linux, so if this is rather dumb question, please excuse my ignorance.

Now, I've installed POP OS on my ASUS TUF A16 that has AMD CPU 7945HX. Now this CPU generally runs hot as it's constantly boosting (it boosts to almost 6GHz when opening notepad or something simple) Anyway, In windows I fixed this by setting Maximum state to 99% in Processor power Management setting. This simple tweak has made it so that my CPU almost never breaks 85 degrees, whereas without it it could reach 96 easy.

Now I'm facing the same issue on Pop OS, and so my question is if there is a similar setting in Pop to the one I mentioned above in Windows

I've had a Thelio Mira for a few years now. Several games on this system will kick the system fans into full blast, unless I take extra steps to cap framerate at say 72 FPS max.

Last year I kind of got tired of dealing with this and tried to get some guidance from System76 support about expected fan behavior and the correct way to adjust fan curves, but the responses were pretty ambiguous. Things like "Some users have found success in replacing the system76-power package with power-profiles-daemon in getting better control over the fans". In any case I didn't get to the point of receiving guidance specifically saying "here's what you can do for the following results".

Some fiddling with the fan curves in the BIOS settings didn't seem to have the expected effect, so I dropped the topic again.

Now I'm back into being annoyed enough about this behavior to try to figure it out again. I'd really like to understand a few things:

• There's a custom I/O board in the Mira that has something to do with power/fan management. What specifically does that board do?
• What do the system76-dkms and system76-power packages do w.r.t. fan control?
• Is it possible to adjust the fan curves in a Mira that is still in its default hardware/software setup? If so, is that intended to be done through the BIOS settings or some other way? If not, is there some way to make the fan curves become adjustable?
• Maybe related to the above: Are there actually benefits or other effects of uninstalling system76-power and installing power-profiles-daemon?

If anyone knows the actual factuals here, thanks in advance!

I notice an annoying snap/pop when audio first starts with my speaker connected to the audio out jack.

I ordered a Bluetooth speaker and will see if there's any difference.

I'm using a System76 desktop...

today i installed the latest updates via Cosmic Store and got the Kernel 7.2.6.

Unfortunately this update broke my wifi and also my reboot (further info in the appendix down below).

• the wifi does not come up, i.e. the networkmanager only shows wired network as possible option
• the reboot hangs with something about WQ_UNBOUND and i need to "hard shudown" by pressing the power button a long time

Work around - for all issues so far:

• Booting into the previous kernel helped.

  • when reboot'ing the following screen come up and nothing happens except that messages about "WQ_UNBOUND" come up again and again

My, new to me, 2018 T480 is running Fedora Cosmic and my 2017 Macbook Air is running PoP OS. The T480 was converted from Windows 11 Pro to Fedora Cosmic last week when it arrived and the Macbook Air was running MX Linux KDE for the last six months until I installed Pop OS on it tonight. They are now both set up with KDEConnect and iCloud and I have been playing around sending files between them and my iPhone. Not too shabby for a new Linux convert. Time to learn to do more things with them.

I just installed Pop!_OS on my uni laptop to give it a second life. I'm really loving UI and overall experience in COSMIC, but I noticed there are basically only two trackpad gestures out of the box: 4-finger swipe to change workspaces and pinch to zoom.

Is there any way to add custom gestures (like 3-finger swipes) or remap existing ones?

I already tried setting up both touchegg and libinput-gestures, but couldn't get either to work properly. Has anyone managed to get custom gestures running?
