Collin County Commissioners Court Preview — October 19, 2026
Bottom Line (Ironically, at the Top)
The most notable item on the agenda is a $5.75M guaranteed maximum price for the first phase of the Collin County Courthouse Expansion — the site work and drilled piers that get the project out of the ground. The Court will also renew dispatch agreements with eight cities, school districts, and fire departments (this is the first year fire departments pay for county dispatch), and hear an Asset Loss Report that includes copper thieves stripping the YMCA Adventure Camp. Total consent spending is $5,684,121.46.

Spammed to death with Prop A propaganda?
Anyone else getting spammed by the pro Prop A groups? I've gotten at least 5 different numbers messaging my phone. I will reply STOP and then a new number shows up a couple days later. Curious if anyone else has been hit up by these morons?

Rehoming Loving Dog
SHEPHARD MIX REHOMING - PLANO
Macaroni lives up to his name, because he is a complete silly noodle. He is a high energy derpy shepherd mix that is looking for a forever home with lots of opportunity to run and play to burn energy. He is 21 months old and is a goof ball through and through. He knows doggie manners, has basic socialization, knows safety commands, loose lead walks, and knows many fun tricks!
He gets along great with dogs, plays gently with cats and seems to show no interest in rodents (trained around a guinea pig). He is also so snuggly and will climb in your lap to sleep or chew a bone/toys. He is generally confident but still has the Shepard instincts of caution around new things but can easily pivot once he knows there is no danger.
Caution: Macaroni has trauma from early puppyhood with food scarcity. He resource guards his food and treats around other animals only (not humans). Macaroni is also very protective and loyal once attached to an owner or family so he can be clingy.
Macaroni is perfectly crate trained. I will be giving his crate away to his forever home with him. It is his safe space and he like to nap with the door open in the crate.
I have had him since 7 weeks old from an accidental litter that a coworker had. Unfortunately, the party responsible for the accidental litter wanted to throw the litter to the street if they did not find homes fast enough. I stepped in and took the last puppy. I want so much to keep him and have kept him as long as possible, but I know the current resources I have are not suitable for his breed type and keeping him longer would be a disservice to him. He has officially outgrown my apartment.
I have raised him and given him a strong foundation in manners and social skills with a few exceptions. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccines and gets monthly HW prevention and I have trained him to tolerate all forms of touch from snout, teeth, ears, feet, and tail. He is still a puppy at 21 months (Born 12.29.2024) and although he still needs some work, I feel like he is ready for a forever home that can give him not just the baseline, but the full experience a dog of his breed should experience in their life.
DETAILS:
*Male
*21 months ( born 12.29.24)
*Vaccines up to date (Rabie Certificate included, not just vet paper with date)
neutered as of 01.02.2026 (i have all medical papers/records)
*Personality: HIGH ENERGY, adolescent phase, chill and snuggle when relaxed and tired. Gentle lover boy who will cling to you like sap on a tree
He also comes trained at the beginner and intermediate levels. I have his training papers as well (each class over 100 dollars each).
Rehoming fee well worth a trained and polite pup.
*REHOMING FEE: 250 dollars
Comes with his large crate (over 250 dollars worth right there already), all of his toys with a hamper to store, food storage container, two slow feeder bowls, leashes, harnesses, outfits, HW supply, flea prevention supply, treats, and a brand new large bag of food.
I do not feel right just keeping the rehoming fee so I will donate the money to a shelter of your choice and provide a receipt. I don't like "selling" dogs but I know it is necessary to help prevent people with ill intentions from hurting dogs.

Found lost dog in Chase Oaks neighborhood
Found in Plano 10/18 around 7:30AM solo-roaming the neighborhood. Looks like a goldendoodle or a doodle mix. Dog is not microchipped.
Posting this on behalf of my friend who found the dog this morning. We have a photo of the dog, but I don't want to post it in case anybody can claim it. Hoping to find the owner soon!

Moving to Plano
Hello, we are young asian American family with a 2year old looking into moving from NY to plano or carrollton TX. We are interested in moving because the living expense in NY is super high and wanted to move somewhere thats more affordable but thats also a good place to raise a child.
Few questions I have for Plano is how is the weather like during summer and winter? Is summer heat really that brutal? And hows the housing market? In NY specifically LI, the housing market is competitive with a lot of cash buyers and people still putting in offers for houses above asking price, is it similar there? I also read that people are moving out of Plano in certain parts, is that something to be concerned for new movers? Any info will be appreciated, thank you!

Recommendations for blow dry salon or stylist
I am looking for a great blow dry bar in Frisco/Plano/Prosper. Or even a stylist who offers blowouts as a service? I’m not looking for special occasion hair, just a really great blowout! Ideally a place, or stylist, that offers membership options for weekly or bi-weekly services. I have long, very thick and coarse blonde hair that just takes a lot of energy to wash and style, and my chronic illness makes it very overwhelming at times, so I’d love to have this as an option for those times.
I know there a few different places that offer this, and I’m reading all the reviews, just hoping to find someone who could share their personal experience with the salon and/or stylist.
Thanks in advance!

Why do the DART crossings in east Plano suck?
The at grade silver line DART crossings at K avenue and Shiloh road are terrible. I cross every day to go to work and I’ve never experienced worse railroad crossings.
The Shiloh road crossing is down for 5 mins every time while the train , that doesn’t even cross the road, slowly creeps into the station at 2 mph. I got stopped at the K avenue crossing for 15 mins, pretty sure something must have been broken.
Maybe there is some conspiracy theory to make DART thru Plano so terrible that eventually we vote to get rid of it?

How Does Plano ISD Benefit from an Arena?
Does anyone have the specifics that add up to $250 million in benefits over 25 years? Things like "how much does Plano ISD spend on facility rentals annually that would be serviced by an 18,000 seat arena?" How much specifically over 1 year, 5 years and 25 years does Plano estimate they lose to state recapture and how would that change with $250 million expenditure on an arena? I have heard "most" and "some". I'm looking for something less speculative. Thanks!
EDIT: If you don't have a link to a primary source, such as a board presentation, the interlocal agreement, or district financial documents, please feel free to not reply. I'm looking for documented figures, not opinions or restated talking points.

How to opt out of the Save Paper littering
You know those trash papers with nothing but coupons that littler everyone’s lawn and create a slip hazard on the sidewalks?
They have an opt-out process:
Go to Save’s “Manage Mailings and Data” page:
https://www.save.com/manage
Click “Privacy Rights Request” and submit an opt-out request for your home address. Save says choosing any of the options to delete information or opt out will also stop its printed advertising.
Unfortunately, they say it can take up to six weeks to stop because deliveries are prepared in advance.
For the stuff being tossed outside
I’d also call [800-345-8048](tel:800-345-8048), their published customer-contact number, and explicitly address the driveway delivery.

🌿 Help Care for Arbor Hills Nature Preserve and Learn About the Prairie!
Join the Blackland Prairie Texas Master Naturalists and Plano Parks on October 31st at 8:30 for a fun, hands-on volunteer workday at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve!
Native prairie and natural areas provide important habitat for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife, but invasive plants can crowd out the native species that make these ecosystems so valuable. By removing invasive plants, we are helping protect and restore the native prairie and improve the ecological health of the preserve.
And it’s not all hard work! These workdays are a great way to get outside, learn more about our native plants and prairie habitat, meet other people who enjoy nature, and have some fun while making a difference in one of Plano’s beautiful nature preserves. 😊
This opportunity is open to adults 18+ and does NOT require Master Naturalist certification. Advanced registration and a background check, at no cost to you, are required.
Ready to join us? Access full details and sign up through the Volunteers in Plano Portal.
Blackland Prairie Texas Master Naturalist members: Please register through our internal Members Area.
Come help us keep Arbor Hills healthy, native, and thriving! 🌱

Stolen Trike
On October 15th someone stole my, new to me, bike. It was behind my gate. Who steals a very obvious type of bike. Hopefully I can find it.
So little back story of the trike. My FIL health went down hill. We had to move him into assisted living. He was not able to take this with him, so he asked us to sell the bike and use the money for something for our kids, his grandchildren. After getting it my kids were excited to go to park with me riding their pawpaws bike. So yeah no more taking pawpaw bike to park.
Sprinkler companies
Any recommendations on sprinkler companies ? Need to identify to location of our valves as sprinklers were installed before we purchased our home.

Who takes a free paper, really?
I don’t pay for a newspaper subscription, so whatever got tossed on my lawn was a free one. But someone is taking their time at 3am to walk around and pick them up. For why?
Edit: a lot of weird anger at this post. Everyone ok? I’m genuinely curious about what this process is, I’m not identifying or calling this person out. Paper got dropped off after 1am and at 3am this person collected it. That’s odd to me, but I guess I’m the only one.
