reminder, we do not gatekeep here.
no gatekeeping does not mean no advice or constructive criticism. it also does not give anybody the excuse to troll this sub.
constructive criticism should explain why you do not think it's pho. insults and derogatory comments are not helpful.
if you believe the sub does not have enough pictures of what you consider real pho, then be the change you want to see and post your pictures.
no gatekeeping means you don't get to say pho is exactly one specific thing from one specific region. there are many types of pho all over Vietnam. and many types of Vietnamese American style.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pho?wprov=sfla1
for clarity, my process goes: 3-5 comment removal warnings, 3 day ban, 7 day ban, permanent ban. this of course is subject to how severe the infraction. slurs, harassment, threats of violence, and deliberate trolling will escalate up the tiers.
remember we have people from all over the world here and they may not make pho the same way you do.

Homemade My first (homemade) pho!
I have to work on my playing but this was one of the best bowls I’ve ever had. I did the garlicky northern style where you stir fry some of the meat in fried garlic and tallow and I’ll do like 10x more garlic next time (I did like half a head for 3 people)

Restaurant Short Rib Pho (Saigon Yum, San Leandro, CA)
Saigon Yum is a modern-Saigon restaurant. The proprietors are recent immigrants. So it benefits from the 50 years of culinary innovation in Saigon since 1975. This restaurant is a favorite among the local Vietnamese immigrant community. It’s known for having an excellent banh my, where the bread is both crispy and fluffy.
Short rib pho combines the richness of short ribs with an already-strong pho broth. We like it a lot. The pho noodles are firm and chewy. It tastes best with some added sate pho and liberal lime juice.

Homemade Pho with Beef Back Rib and Rare Chuck
For dinner last night I made some pho with beef back ribs and chuck roast. Half the chuck roast I cooked in the broth for well done, tender beef and the other half I thin sliced for rare beef. Of course leftovers made for a nice hardy breakfast this morning.
Side question, how are you guys taking such good pictures of your pho? I have a samsung s23 ultra phone and pictures of food always look so meh. Maybe it's the lighting in my kitchen...

Homemade Phở tái lăn with homemade bò viên.
First time making these beef meatballs instead of getting the frozen ones like usual. There’s still room for improvement 😁

Pho n eggs
Stopped by the ramen place omw to lunch, had 8 eggs and double meat. It was pretty good. The eggs are a softer taste than the pho so they didn’t work together as much as I thought they would. Fun to try, dunno if I would do it again.

Beef tenderloin at the bottom :)
Turned out so good wtf!! Let the bone broth cook for about 7 hours. Browned the spices, broiled the onion and ginger 💚 salted w smoked salt and sea salt, added a touch of fish sauce, topped w pea shoots cilantro and lime.

Recipe I love to cook, but Pho seems complicated….
Please share your recipe for the broth or share a good “ready made broth” I can buy?. I walked all thru the market here in Netherlands and couldn’t find a power or broth. But I’m inspired to make my own, just need some recipes….

Homemade My frozen pho
It’s so nice to have my homemade frozen pho that I can thaw out for a quick craving fix. I may not have all the herbs but it is still delicious. It be life sometimes. 🙌🏻 ya know? 😄😋 No matter how many bowls I’ve posted, every time I make a good looking bowl of pho, I feel so proud. 🥲

Homemade My pho
I was afraid to post here cuz this is more of an American fusion pho. But the broth is from a legit recipe. I used what I had for toppings and it came out good. And those jalapeños were huge I cut out the seeds. :)
