Snail Mail [31/F] Looking for a variety of pals!

Hello! I just recently discovered this subreddit and love the idea of receiving snail mail.

A bit about me: Im Canadian. Audhd. Im pretty introverted but do enjoy going out with close friends. My hobbies include crochet, reading, camping, various movies and tv shows, Ive recently gotten into history, learning about various wars and nuclear disasters. I like Motorcycles, baking, and swimming in natural bodies of water. Pools are cool but something about natural bodies just feels so grounding. I like music and dancing. Metal, rock, edm, dancehall and various other genres. If it makes me feel, it doesnt matter the genre. Animal lover. Nerd stuff, pokemon, ghibli, starwars, all things vampire. I like cozy games, stardew, cult of the lamb, pikmin, luigis mansion. Although I am horrible at the pikmin games to be honest. I have many hobbies and interests.

Ive been struggling with my mental health a bit lately and think connecting with others would be helpful.

Im open to chatting about life in general or specific topics. So dont be discouraged if you dont fit into this list.

A few specifics id love:

International pals to learn about other cultures, places, local history.

Pals to help me learn Spanish. Im very low level right now and I think letters would be fun to help.

Sharing recipes, I dont cook well but I love baking.

Sharing stickers, photographs, or other letter mail sized collectibles.

Thanks for reading!

Snail Mail & Postcard [21/F] Taiwan, looking for friends

This is my first time looking for penpal. When I was in junior high my English teacher let us use the website "Postcrossing", it made me realize that writing letters & postcards are really fun!

I'm looking forward to meet people who'd like to exchange handwritten letters, postcards, cute stationery & stickers, little souvenirs, or just random thoughts about life. It doesn't have to be expensive or fancy! I love surprises!✨️

I'm a university student from Taiwan 🇹🇼, majoring in a tourism-related field, so learning about different places and cultures is something I really love. Currently working in the airport for internship now. I was born in a city surrounded by mountains and sea, so I love nature very much.💖

The stuff I love:

🎵 Music:

I listen to whatever I like. I mostly listen to classic pop songs or rock music. I love discovering new artists and bands, tell me who's your favorite!

🎨 Art & creativity:

I enjoy drawing, visiting art museums and exhibitions, and taking random photos of things. I also love doing junk journal, not the best but I'm enjoying making it.

🍰 Cooking & baking:

I enjoy staying in the kitchen. Sometimes I'll make meal after work or little desserts in my day off.

🎱 Collecting:

I mostly collect stationery, stickers, magazines, books, everything cute or funny and green stuff, green is my favorite color.

Feel free to DM or leave comments if you'd like to!💖

Snail Mail [38/NB] Let's get real

I am looking for penpals who are interested in building a lasting relationship (platonic), not simply exchanging a letter or two before drifting away. I want the kind of connection that unfolds over time, one letter at a time.

Small talk is lovely, if that is your sort of thing. But I want to know how your day really went, not what the weather was like. Tell me about your favourite animal in an absurd amount of detail. Complain about your job, or regale me with tales of that one coworker who seems determined to test your patience. Ramble about your secrets, your desires, your hopes, and the things you rarely say aloud. Tell me what makes your heart soar and what leaves it in pieces. Let me share in your joys, your sorrows, your triumphs, and your disappointments. I want to feel the person behind the handwriting.

A little about me, so you know who you might be writing to.

I am a 38 year old, married, transmasc butch lesbian, thoroughly adorned in tattoos and unapologetically myself. I am a witch, TTRPG developer, birder, author, resin artist, and Forever DM in Dungeons & Dragons. I am also disabled, which is another thread in the tapestry of my life.

My household is ruled by two particularly notorious creatures: Oliver, my extremely spoiled corgi, and Oswin, my feline overlord. Between the two of them, I experience approximately a dozen near-heart attacks a day. Their antics are a seemingly endless source of amusement, exasperation, and stories, so you can expect to hear plenty about their misadventures.

As for correspondence, I believe in matching energy. Send me a few lines, and I shall send a few in return. Send me several pages filled with your thoughts, stories, and musings, and I will happily fill several pages of my own. There is no expectation to perform or impress, only to bring as much of yourself to the page as you feel comfortable sharing.

One important note: I write with fountain pens, in cursive. Please let me know upfront if reading handwritten cursive is difficult for you. I would much rather know beforehand than discover, after sending a letter, that my handwriting is an indecipherable mystery. Unfortunately, that has happened before, and I would prefer not to repeat the experience.

And, naturally, no letter of mine would be complete without a liberal scattering of washi tape and stickers. I am a stationery hoarder, after all, and I firmly believe that a little decorative whimsy makes its way into even the most ordinary correspondence.

Ultimately, I am looking for someone who wants to show up, keep writing, and allow a friendship to grow organically through ink, paper, and the occasional assortment of stickers. Someone who wants more than a name on an envelope. Someone willing to let a stranger become a familiar presence, one letter at a time.

If that sounds like your sort of connection, I would love to hear from you.

Edit: I forgot to mention I prefer to receive the first letter. Call it the opening move.

Email [24/M] Horror Artist Looking for Friends!

Hello beautiful people, Name is Andrei and I'm from Eastern Europe.

I am here to search for souls that may find a place in my friendship circle. Everyone is welcome especially if we connect on a profound level in the meadow of our common interests. I think the things I surround myself with define me and have made me who I am today so if we don't connect on the passion of creating and experiencing stories I don't think I will be able to function, I will spontaneously combust. Nevertheless, if you think we will connect and might be a good match, don't be afraid to dm me either way!

One monolithic component of interest in my entire life is horror. I enjoy everything about it and everything that has even a little bit of its DNA in it. Ranging from movies, books, games, music.. Comedy is also a big part of my life, a really good example I can give as to my zodiac personality sign is MeatCanyon, I think his comedic sense combined with his horror imagination is the perfect mix that I aspire to.

Art is my whole life so I completely submerge myself in every medium there is. I will just briefly talk about a few things here and hopefully to the one reading this will be able to gain an understanding of who i am.

Film - I watch a lot of movies and i enjoy film a lot, some favorite directors are David Lynch, Ingmar Bergman, Cronenberg. I cannot pick a favorite movie but what i can mention is that I don't only watch horror movies, there are a lot of variety in film and everything is worthy of appreciation.

Books - I am a basic horror girlie in the sense that Poe and Lovecraft are my favorites and except for that I enjoy gothic literature as well as topics of religion/mythological psychoanalysis with writers such as Mircea Eliade, Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell. Another book worth mentioning is The Golden Bough - folklore and old traditions. Honorable mentions: Umberto Eco, Kafka, Russian literature.

Games - Of course i like the games that everyone else likes but a few worth mentioning are: Look Outside, No im not Human, Grim Dawn, Silent Hill 2, Isaac - there are just a few and i really appreciate a good atmosphere with a story that captivates you through the gameplay. I also really enjoy the style of old games. And im open to play games together!

Music - The range goes from heavy metal, obscure bands and folkloric melodies. There are too many bands to count and I promise that whatever your taste in music is, I can recommend something you will enjoy 100% of the time. I listen to a lot of music.

There are a lot of things I enjoy and listing them all here would spoil the fun. If I sound at all interesting to you feel free to dm me!

Snail Mail & Postcard [35/M] Trainee psychotherapist and aspiring warlock from England looking for friends!

Hey.

I've never had a pen pal before. I don't think I've ever written a physical letter before, even. But I've always wanted to try.

I'm interested in quite a lot, but recently I've really been getting into gardening, specifically growing lots of fruit and vegetables. I grow dozens of different fruits, and I specialise in rare and interesting varieties you usually can't easily find in supermarkets, e.g. chokeberries, Japanese wineberries, raspberries... but ones that are gold, black, or purple. Blueberries... but ones that are pink! You get the picture. And I've started making jams with them, baking desserts with them, stuff like that. I have a lot of plans for the future with this, maybe scaling up and one day selling baked goods, jams, pickles, chutneys, etc. made with rare and interesting ingredients.

I recently adopted four chickens who I now keep in my garden and I've been enjoying getting to know them and learning how to take care of them. It's added more chores to my life, but I'm enjoying the eggs they're using to pay rent, so it's all good.

My dream is to essentially be a male witch living in a cozy cottage in a beautiful forested area, so I guess a warlock, with a well-stocked pantry full of herbs gathered from my garden and various exotic ingredients I've grown or foraged and made into potions and teas and medicines. I want a comfy, whimsical life, and I'm slowly working towards that goal.

I also really love singing. I'm a perfectionist and not as good as I want to be, but I think I am improving and have been taking singing lessons. This is another area where I have bigger plans for the future and want to learn music theory and such and make my own music, rather than just singing covers. I've never felt confident enough to join a band or a choir or anything, but I'd like to in the future.

What else to say? I don't know. I've been isolated and lonely for quite a long time now. I'm not where I'd like to be in my life. But I don't want to bring the mood down. But the point is, I'd really like to find people I can be open with and talk about my struggles with, and hear about theirs. But if you'd rather stick to just talking about lighter things, that's cool too. I just want to hear about other people. I want to hear about stories and memories that are important to you, things you're passionate about. Learn about your culture and interests and whatever else.

Anyway, I could go on for a long time... I like chess, video games, psychology, reading, animals and much more. Oh, one more thing: my handwriting sucks, sorry. That's one thing I hope to get out of this, improving that (or maybe you'd be okay with me typing out the letters?), because I'm so used to typing and it's a hell of a lot more convenient for me, because I type at around 160 WPM.

Though the flair says snail mail and postcard, I'm up for anything really.

I look forward to hearing from you. Feel free to DM me.

Snail Mail [26/M] from the Melbourne, Aus - WHAT IT DO, BIG DAWG?

WHATS UP GOOD PEOPLE! I've had some mild success with my older posts so I'm here YET AGAIN to find more people willing to deal with my dumb and horrible-at-dms-so-I-prefer-letters ass.

It's 9am here in Melbourne, I'm enjoying a fabulous cup of masala chai and I couldn't help but thinking I could use more letters to be reading/writing. I drink tea a lot so at least 3 more letters would be ideal, you know? All over the world, all kinds of folk, just talking about life and its journey.

Now about me! I'm an idiot. Not professionally, just preferably. I discovered back when I was 17 that life's a lot more fun when you don't take things too seriously, so I've spent some time saying dumb shit and making a fool of myself. I work with trains a lot. Like a life sized, 1:1 train set. It's pretty fun and incredibly intense so that solidifies my being an idiot outside of my job a lot more.

I thoroughly enjoy reading, and read most anything I come across. Never quite made my way into romance novels though. Someone gave me a copy of fourth wing and I'm like "SICK DRAGONS HELL YEAH" and then I quickly realised that they were playing with more than just dragons. Not knocking it, just never been my thing. My last book was "The Terror" by Dan Simmons which was pretty amazing. Weird ending but hey you can't win all the time. I have no idea what to read next, but I picked up "For Whom The Bell Tolls" by Ernest Hemingway on a whim so who knows.

I like writing too! Shitty poetry mostly but I wanna write a lot more. I had a passion for photography that was lost in amongst my journey from mild mannered teenager to emotionally inept adult so I've started doing more of that. Letter writing has become a new hobby of mine, only because it feeds my tea habit. I also also have started taking my health seriously. I have no idea what to do in the gym but I like going so imma keep going.

That's enough about me. I'm a boring dude who loves to talk to people. I like finding out someone's philosophy, their ethos. Why are you the way you are? Are you okay with what you are? Why are we still too cowardly to put tomatoes in fruit salad? What if the moon landing was actually a close up of a block of cheese? You know?

I'm very sorry my ability to limit my own word vomit is incredibly limited.

Some things before you leave (if you made it this far); first is that the world is better with you in it, second is that there's no problem in this world that can't be hashed out or at least addressed over a cup of tea or coffee, and thirdly is a quote: "ladies and gentlemen, take my advice. Pull down your pants and slide on the ice" 🫡

Take care, good people.

Email & Snail Mail [28/M] looking for penpals to talk about life, have a good banter and occasional venting

Hello There (: Hope you are having a lovely day. I know I am having a fine day. So I am looking for cool pen pals from around the world to be friends with. You know have a good conversation about life and everything in between. We can talk about anything from science, geopolitics, art and hobbies. Like whatever is your passion and you like yapping about, I will gladly listen.

As for me, I am mostly a nerd who is obsessed with deep space and astronomy. I love staring at the night sky and just imagining the universe and all its possibilities. I have a sense of humour that ranges from kindergarten insults to all the way to absurd and dark. I work in the healthcare field, and my work-life balance is extremely unhealthy. I work odd hours, and it's hard for me to regularly socialise. I like yapping, so it's a good release. I journal daily, play football and paddle whenever I get the time. I am into trail running and hiking. My runs are like my healing process because I spent so much time indoors in a high-stress environment. I like eating good so I cook whenever I am not too lazy. My music tastes are all over the place, but it is primarily Hip-Hop, soul and Jazz. I don't watch many films but I do listen to true crime podcasts. I am an avid reader of mostly non-fiction and a little bit of fiction. We can always exchange playlists and book recommendations because I do like shoving my tastes down other people's throats. So be ready for that lol.

I would prefer talking to people closer to my age and older but otherwise everyone is welcome.

Hope to hear from you and have a lovely day!

Hey guys! I'm looking to exchange letters with some new people, I've got space for new penpals and soon back again here.

I love taking pictures and printing them out, and I like to use them as improvised postcards, I like to talk about life, football, animals, plants, space, or whatever topic I'm hyper focusing on that day.

And I'd love to hear about what you want to talk about (or what you're hyper focused on, yes, I already know you have ADHD hahahaha).

I can write in Spanish, English, catalán, french and German.

So yeah, if anything here sounds interesting to you, send me a dm and let's talk.

Snail Mail [23/F] Looking for a few 22+ ladies to correspond with

Hi folks!

I’m hoping to find a few penpals from the UK and EU who would enjoy exchanging letters, getting to know one another, and sharing little bits of everyday life. I love getting a handwritten letter in the mail and I would love one from you!

I’m a fairly outgoing person who tends to keep myself busier than I probably ought to. I currently work in theatre as a wardrobe supervisor, which means I spend a lot of time around costumes, sewing, and the wonderfully chaotic world of backstage life. Outside of work, I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, film photography, reading, writing, and all sorts of creative hobbies. I’m always looking for another little project to throw myself into!

I also love a bit of adventure and would really like to get more traveling under my belt. I currently live in the American Midwest, but I’m in the process of moving to the UK to be with my partner, so I’m very excited for this next chapter and all the new places, experiences, and opportunities it might bring.

I’d love to connect with people who enjoy sharing stories, talking about their hobbies, swapping recommendations, or simply chatting about the ordinary little things that make up everyday life. Whether you want to write about your latest adventure, a book you can’t put down, something you’ve been making, or what you had for dinner last night, I’d love to hear about it!

Dm and we can see about setting something up! I normally like to keep a regular correspondence of every 1-2 weeks

Snail Mail [37/F] Long Term Penpals

Hello friends :)

Like the title says I am 37/F looking for long term penpals. I have sent out several letters but have yet to have any long term correspondence. I have been seeing so many posts about not receiving responses to letters. So I thought I would try again.

I really want to get to know you. I want to know everything. Like what is your neighbourhood like? Is there any gossip you want to share? What shows are watching? What are you doing at work? Pretty much anything. Share pictures! All the details. Spill it!

Some things about me:

•I would describe myself as a confident weirdo. I don’t take life too seriously and love to laugh.
• I work in suicide prevention. It’s not my whole life, but its a big part of who I am.
•I am a loud mouth progressive. Politics will come up. I promise you, if you have conservative values you will mot like me. And thats okay.
•Im American living in Canada.
• I usually take about a week to respond and FYI Canada Post moves to slowly.
•Im looking to do letters and have a way to express myself in my crafts. But you dont have to be crafty. If you want to just write. I love that, but mine will be crafty.

DM me if you thinks you’re interested in becoming long term penpals :)

Postcard [22/M] Looking for 4 strangers from South America, Africa, Asia, Oceania to send a postcard to! (Art University Project)

Heya! I'm a Graphic Design student in Europe, I've recently done a project which included shooting on 35mm film for my first time, and we've been tasked with creating any outcome in response to this project. Therefore I'm turning them into postcards

My goal is to have sent some of these photographs to every continent, and ideally for people to take a photo of the postcard and send via email! I already have North America & Europe Sorted

The images/postcards themself are mostly random, and not very skillfull considering its my first time shooting film haha

The picture you send email back will be used as evidence for my studies and will remain anonymous!! You're also welcome to mail any postcards back to me & stay in touch as penpals if you take part 😁

send a message via reddit chat if interested!! all postage cost covered

Email & Snail Mail [30/F] Looking for women only pen-pals who like spiritual or witchy stuff

• Upvotes

🌿💌 Looking for Kindred Spirits & New Pen-Pals 💌🌙

Good day, lovely souls! 🌷

I'm looking to make new friendships with women aged 30 and above who enjoy meaningful conversations and would love to build a genuine friendship through email first, with the hope of exchanging handwritten letters someday. 💌

I'd love to meet women who enjoy sharing little pieces of their lives, sending pictures of nature, beautiful skies, flowers, trees, sunsets, or anything that brings them a little joy. 🌻🍂 There's something special about seeing the world through someone else's eyes.

I'm interested in witchy things, spirituality, art, psychology, and the deeper questions of life. I love the idea of sharing thoughts, dreams, experiences, personal reflections, and different perspectives about the world we live in.

I'm not looking for anything complicated, just sincere friendships with kind women who enjoy connecting on a deeper level, being curious about life, and sharing both the ordinary and extraordinary moments. ❤️

It's been a few years since I've had the chance to write to anyone, and I'm really looking forward to finding new pen-pals and building friendships at a comfortable, natural pace.

If this resonates with you and you'd like to become friends, please send me a DM and tell me a little about yourself. We can exchange email addresses privately and see where our friendship takes us. 🌙✨

Women 30+ only, please. I'm looking forward to meeting some kindred spirits! 🌿💚

Reddit Messaging [24/M] Looking for a best friend, things are quite lonely

Hey! I've posted here before but haven't had much luck so far. And due to lonliness, things have been kinda sucky lately. Kinda being a star-sized understatement (cuz stars are big.. hehe). Anyways, excuse my awfully unfunny pun! You *yes you my possible future friend* probably has better humor than I. Im hoping to make long term friends who also love music like I do, I want a close connection with someone that lasts a lifetime! Hoping we can geek out about our interests and feel comfortable to do so! I'm in the EST time zone and am super into music (my tastes are all over the place, my favorite is the retro era but I also like a lot of new stuff too). I really wanna find someone who loves old artists and bands and music history and aesthetics! Hope you're all having a good day!

Reddit Messaging [19/M] Seeking emotional depth provided by a best friend

Howdy! The title says it all. I want a deep connection in which both sides feel comfortable with each other, seek each other for support, etc. I have plenty of hobbies, ranging from sports, writing, and geography to history, music, and gaming. I am a pretty curious person, so feel free to nerd out to me! As for gaming, I play lots of indie games like Hollow Knight, Ultrakill, the Portal series, the Hotline Miami series, etc. As for music, I tend to listen to lots of experimental stuff, but I can elaborate on that more later on, especially if you are into music. It'd be pretty nice if I got a pretty clingy bestie, and I am also in GMT+2, so it'd be nice if you were close to that time zone. Oh, and I am also 19/M. So yeah, I am pretty excited to talk with y'all, and have a nice day wherever you are!

Email [29/F] Correspondance épistolaire et amitié sincère - Curieux de tout et bâtisseur de mondes [ language exchange! ]

Chère âme, ou noble esprit, veuille bien accepter mes salutations les plus sincères...

Greetings,

I am an introverted, deeply melancholic, and mystically inclined soul with a predilection for the striking beauty of 18th- and 19th-century music, classic literature, and cinema. I would be remiss if I didn't mention my devotion to writing; it is my heartfelt hope, God willing, to publish a novel someday.

I hold a profound reverence for archaic manuscripts, and I am terribly inquisitive, always possessing a curious mind. Whether I am solving puzzles, crafting ciphers, learning languages, or tinkering away in the creative lab of my mind (building worlds and characters for short stories, making predictions for future generations, or leaving letters for strangers), I am usually crafting something.

I find myself endlessly fascinated by figures like Nostradamus, Hildegard von Bingen, and Nikola Tesla, though I admit I still have much reading left to do. More than anything, I am hoping to find a true friendship with a fellow creator, seeker of wisdom, and lover of truth.

I have recently embarked upon the journey of learning French, so I am far from fluent. I am looking for a French native who is fluent in English, and who would be willing to correspond primarily in English to start. As my knowledge grows, I would love for us to slowly introduce French into our letters, gradually weaving it in as we go.

A gentle caveat: Please do refrain from writing to me if you are the kind of person that relies on an LLM to generate messages for you. It is a terribly sad thing to rely on a device to think and write for you! But especially if it is intended to connect with another living human being. I've always believed the only requirements for prompting interesting conversation are ; authenticity, kindness, earnest curiosity, and courage.

After all, a good conversation is like a well-timed orchestra playing a symphony where everyone plays according to their notes at their exact moment, and no one rushes or plays over another. Every instrument has its purpose; this is the difference between a disastrous cacophony and a harmonious melody.

If you too have grown weary of our modern culture's vacuous, quick-paced messaging and long for old-fashioned, long-form epistles at our own pace, then I'd be honored to hear from you.

Email & Snail Mail [25/m] Looking for penpals from anywhere, UK!

• Upvotes

I don’t know what it is! The beautiful natural landscape, the rich music history, or something else. I’m curious about how life is like in any of the nations that make up the UK, and would love to visit someday.

I’m a 25 year old electrician living in Atlanta, GA, USA. I also host club nights in my city, and DJ on vinyl.
I’m really into house/techno, classic rock and heavy metal, and primitive guitar/folk music. I love camping/hiking, and gaming (current favorites are Konami rhythm games, overwatch, and WoW).

I’d love to talk about any shared hobbies, or even just compare our daily lives. Making international friends feels like it’d be really fun!

Email & Snail Mail [22/M] Scotland - In case we happen to get along :)

• Upvotes

I suppose I ought to begin with the conventional introductions, though I have never been particularly good at them, but, well, in the spirit of getting the boring stuff out of the way right away (cue: me), I am a writer, poet, academic, lecturer, scholar, scientist (physicist, to be more precise), and AI engineer/scientist (I am, if I may add, absolutely terrible at more than half my jobs). I’ve spent most of my life in Europe, and am probably the coolest and funniest person you have met today, unless you’ve seen a raccoon doing yoga, in which case, fair enough, I simply can’t compete with that level of comedy.

The truth is that I have always found introducing myself rather difficult, there is something strangely artificial about trying to reduce a person to a paragraph, as though we were all tidy little collections of interests, accomplishments, preferences, and carefully selected adjectives.

I am, I fear, a rather poor exhibitor of myself, the moment I am asked to explain who I am, something in me seems to retreat into a corner and refuse to cooperate. I have thought about this far too many times, and after twenty-two years of living, I remain quite confidently the worst person I know at introducing myself. It is a curious deficiency, I can talk for hours about some obscure historical event nobody asked about, become unnecessarily invested in the moral character of a long-dead philosopher, or spend an afternoon following some completely accidental question down a rabbit hole from which there is no respectable return, but ask me to describe myself and suddenly I am reduced to, "Well... I like things." Marcus Aurelius wrote that "very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking." I believe him more on good days than bad ones, but I keep the sentence nearby regardless.

I like small walks, I like learning something new quite by accident, especially when I have no business knowing it and consequently become far too pleased with myself for having discovered it, I like talking to people, though I think I like the moment when talking quietly turns into listening even more. There is something rather lovely about reaching that point in a conversation where neither person seems particularly concerned with keeping it going, and yet somehow neither wishes to leave it either.

I am very fond of my own company, which is perhaps fortunate, because I have had rather a lot of it. Solitude has its pleasures, one may disappear into one's thoughts without having to explain where one has gone, and occasionally return with something resembling an answer. I like sitting quietly with myself, reading, thinking, wandering about, doing very little, and somehow considering it a productive use of an afternoon, but I am not entirely made for solitude either, there is an equal and opposite part of me that wants to go beyond the familiar, to see what is waiting just beyond the little borders I have drawn around my life. I

I love evenings especially, sometimes I step outside simply because the sun is going down, and I feel that one ought to have the decency to witness it. I love those ridiculous skies where orange begins bleeding into purple and everything looks briefly more beautiful than it has any right to be. I love the first sip of tea in the morning, the sound of leaves moving in the wind, the gradual dimming of a day into dusk. I like gardens and parks, and the rather miraculous fact that one can walk among trees for an hour and come back feeling as though something inside one's head has been quietly rearranged.

I have always loved letters, too, though it has been some time since I last properly gave myself over to writing them. When I was younger, I wrote to my grandmother every day and dutifully posted the letters on my way to school. That I very rarely remembered the correct address, and even more rarely remembered a stamp, is beside the point.

I suppose what I am really trying to say is that, if you happen to be reading this, I would like to know you. Not because I have some elaborate checklist of the sort of person I hope to find, nor because I particularly care whether you happen to be interesting in the conventional sense, I am far more interested in the person underneath all that. The odd little habits, the things you know for no good reason, the memories you have never found a suitable occasion to tell anyone, the opinions you defend with considerably more conviction than they deserve.

There is something rather wonderful about writing to someone you do not know, I don't know your name, I don't know what you ate today, whether you slept properly last night, what song has been stuck in your head, or whether your day has been glorious or thoroughly dreadful, perhaps your inbox has been multiplying like gremlins left too near water, perhaps you have spent the afternoon pretending to work while accomplishing absolutely nothing of consequence, perhaps you have had one of those quiet days where the refrigerator becomes strangely prominent because you have nothing else to listen to.

I think people who stop to read messages from complete strangers are probably a little strange themselves, and I mean that as the highest compliment. Perhaps you are a birdwatcher, perhaps you collect old books, perhaps you are one of those suspiciously competent people who can fold a fitted sheet without entering into a minor spiritual crisis. If so, I already admire you, I have attempted it, and remain convinced the thing was designed by someone with a personal grievance against humanity.

Perhaps you laugh too loudly, perhaps you think too much, perhaps you are quiet and observant, and notice things everyone else walks past, perhaps you have passionately held opinions about breakfast foods. Cookies count, incidentally, I will defend this position before any reasonable tribunal.

As for me, I am kind, curious, occasionally ridiculous, easily distracted by an interesting thought, and rather fond of people who have something peculiar about them. I am probably not nearly as funny as I have just suggested, but I am willing to make the attempt, which ought to count for something.

Anyway, I shall spare you the remaining 96 pages of my unsolicited autobiography for now. If this sounds like your sort of nonsense, do come and say hello, I’d genuinely love to hear from you!

Email & Snail Mail [20/M] looking for penpals from NYC

well I'm that guy who has never been to NYC but really impressed with the city so it would be a joy for me to find a penpal newyorker. I have a big variety of interests to chat about: music (A LOT OF different music from jazz to mainstream pop, from IDM to punk), photography (film photography too), architecture, history, science (I'm studying IT at the university) or just everyday life. So if anyone is interested to talk with a sharp-minded and easygoing person (I'm working on being this one), to exchange opinions and just have a good time - welcome!

best wishes!

Snail Mail [22/F] looking for penpals in Canada/USA in their twenties

Hi guys, I am looking for Canadian/American penpals in their twenties to send physical letters to, ideally around my age.

A little about me: I love reading everything under the sun (except non fiction). My favourite books are A Man Called Ove, A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Nightingale. I have a soft spot for romance books because they are a great pick me up. I love going to watch movies at the theatre - I have a membership card at the local cinema. I love museums, art galleries and fall. I am a coffee snob and am on first name basis with most of the local baristas. I love dad jokes, watching hockey and am currently binging the new season of love is blind.

If you think we would be good penpals, send me a message with some info about you!

Email & Snail Mail [40/M] Looking for people who love letters

Just turned 40, male, Kosovo.

I love movies (over 1200 reviews), and even more TV shows (15k episodes).

Now I want to write with people from around the world, bring old-style penpals - never meeting, just corresponding in the distance.

I live in a countryside, with a dog and a few cats, enjoy gardening, hiking. Love books and sports, and would love to learn a new language (bcs duolingo sucks).

The whole idea about this is to find people with the same interests as recently I lost my best friend, and I feel a bit lonely.

I'm not too talkative, hate IM platforms, therefore, letters/emails.

Thank you in advance

Reddit Messaging [28/M] Looking for people to chat with.

• Upvotes

Gotta admit, sometimes I run into people on here that have their own goals and ambitions. You guys seem to have hobbies, or just topics you like to read about. I'd love to hear from you about them. It adds a lot to the conversation to listen to you discussing what's always on your mind. Feel free to share!

As, for my interests: I enjoy exercising, hanging out with friends, playing some games casually, watching movies and serieses. In the past, I've learned quite a bit from "A Smarter Way to Learn Python" which is really really interesting! I also enjoy learning math, from Khan Academy. My primary goal is to be good enough at math & programming that I can create interesting simulations.

I'm really looking for people who are interested in programming, math, learning in general, and love discussing deeper topics!

While I'm not in school, I do thoroughly enjoy learning, specifically anything STEM related. I do enjoy working with math. I read a book by the name "A Mind for Numbers" which basically taught me how to learn such subjects. One of the best books I've ever read!

If you've read this far in, I really appreciate it! If you're interested in talking, feel free to send me a DM! Looking forwards to hearing back from you! 23+ only please

If you have an NSFW profile, I'm blocking you.

Email & Snail Mail [18/M] Looking for a Japanese pen pal

Hi there! I've been studying Japanese for the past few months, and I'd love to find a pen pal overseas to practice with. I think nothing beats real conversation with a native speaker, and I'm hoping it can turn into a fun, rewarding learning experience for both of us. Outside of studying, I love gaming, building electronics, and old antiques, but I'm happy to chat about anything, especially niche topics, since I enjoy learning about unusual things. As the flair suggests, im open to correspondence over email as well. My DMs should be open.
