Good morning all - I am one of the authors of 'I Am No Guide: Pearl Jam Song by Song', and I am working with the folks at The State of Love and Trust Podcast on another book. It's called
"The Love That Is Saved: Pearl Jam Across a Generation." It is the story of how Pearl Jam's music has evolved and how what it means to be a Pearl Jam fan evolved alongside it.
We want to explore how Pearl Jam's music impacted you when you first heard it. How your relationship to it has changed over time. What it means to grow up and grow older in parallel with one bands music. We want to tell the story of what it meant to first listen to Ten alone in your room, the rush of the first time you heard them live, what it was like to walk down the aisle to Future Days, to sing Pearl Jam songs to your children, and to take them to their first show. And every experience in between.
We cannot tell that story without you. And we want to tell it, as much as possible, in the voice of that fandom. Your stories in your voice. Over the next several months we will be releasing a series of surveys asking you to share your Pearl Jam history. The first (linked below) is about your general fandom, but we'll be diving deeper into each album, asking what they meant to you then, and what they mean to you now. And while these are anonymous, you have the option of sharing your name so we can quote you directly. New links will follow roughly every two weeks, but each will remain open right up until the point the book is finished.
The band's music has helped shape who we are, and the power of Pearl Jam's music draws strength from the community that surrounds it. The best way to tell the story of that music's impact is by telling the collective story of all those individual stories. Thank you for your help with this, and for giving us the opportunity to make your voice a part of it

What’s your favourite Pearl Jam tour, considering all factors (setlists, tightness of the band, consistency of performances)?
I’d go with the 2006 Tour.
The band may not have been quite as tight as during the 1991 - 1996 tours, but I think the overall package was better.
Eddie’s voice was peak in '91-94 in terms of depth and raw emotions, but screams were excessive in early years and sometimes sounded almost painful; also the setlists - while great - were somewhat more limited.
By 2006 the band had a much wider catalogue of high-level material to draw from. Eddie still governed his growls, but used it moderately, and his clean vocals were still precise and strong.
The sound with Cameron was slightly weaker and less cohesive than with Irons or Abbruzzese, but everything else in 2006 more than made up for it. The setlists were great, the performances were consistently top notch (I can put any 2006 show on and I will have a blast), and the band seemed to be genuinely enjoying themselves on stage.
What would be your pick and why?

Seen PJ about 35 times over the past 20 years and always had setlist memory questions, this app answered them all!

Was recently thinking back to this show when Vedder stopped in the middle of Lukin he told a guy to get his finger out of a woman's face and (I think got kicked out). I wasn't in a section nearby, but curious if anyone at the show saw this altercation unfold or knows what happened?

What to this day is your favorite way Eddie has pronounced a word a song? Sometimes the way he says a word to complete or connect some great lyrics makes me smile.

Got tix for my sister, her girl, my 12 year old lad and myself to one of the Dark Matter shows which was cancelled. 2024. Still holding out hope that they will return for at least one more fling. My health ain't great so would love this to happen, ive seen them before with my Dad, my wife, my sister....was hoping to complete the circle by taking my son also.
What do you guys think are the chances of them touring in Europe next year? Would love to hear your thoughts
I also need to allocate funds if so... holding back a little but lots of great bands are getting announced already for next year amd temptation is never far. Rather pay for Pearl Jam

I've always been impressed how massive and diverse PJ's set lists are. Deep cuts, B sides, songs not on the traditional studio albums, they just love making us happy playing songs that only those who listen to all these albums will know!
Does any other band even come close with doing this? First off it would have to be a band with 30 years of history and 10+ albums of songs. But I feel most big bands will play the big hits, a few new ones, and call it a day.

Just ran across this PJ heirloom from 1994. My gf and I had tickets for their Cleveland State show, but I ended up having to bail last minute for a family thing. It would have been my first PJ show. I was devastated. She wanted to skip it in solidarity, but I insisted she'd go for the two of us. But the deal: she had to write down the set list. She came through.

It’s been almost 6 months since the band, or someone working for them, posted on all their social media platforms the “Dead End” picture. At the time people thought maybe it was them ending their posts on X (Twitter). The counter to this was that many people, including myself, actually didn’t see the post on X but rather one of their other platforms they use. I saw the post on Facebook, others reported seeing it in their Instagram. Also, they obviously never stopped posting on X.
They never posted a disregard, clarification or anything about it. It obviously wasn’t about some project because nothing, even a whisper, of anything in the works has been leaked. And their drummer situation is what is so it’s not even settled 100% now let alone six months ago.
Was it just a mistake, a rogue social media employee or was someone frustrated about something?..

Who was most involved with the awesome, unique CD cases from those 90s albums?

I’m wondering if this is one of you Minnesotans. Perhaps I’m just thinking that because I’m remembering the person who held up their I AM MINE Minnesota plate at the last show in St. Paul.

My vote would be Light Years.

I have a ton of merch I picked up on the 2024 and 2025 tours, as well as a bunch of stuff I’ve bought online from the official shop and from TSURT, and I must say, the quality is the best it’s ever been.
The sweatshirts are true to size and so soft. The t-shirts hold up well when you wash them. The variety of hats has been really nice.
I just ordered a shirt and hat from this year’s Ohana stuff and they are so durable and fit so well.
And that’s not even to mention all the mystery boxes we have received the last few years.
I think that the guy from TSURT deserves a ton of credit. He has really stepped up the PJ and EV merch game.

Hey everyone! I wanted to share something from Serbia that made me genuinely happy as a Pearl Jam fan.
This video is a call to people to attend the students’ final rally ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections on October 25. Serbia has been going through a major student-led protest movement, with students challenging the government and calling for political change.
The video was made by the Serbian student electoral list, and they chose Pearl Jam’s “Alive” as its musical backing.
I don’t know who specifically made the song choice, but it was selected by the student team behind the campaign video.
For those unfamiliar with the situation, these are students who have taken the lead in a movement demanding accountability and change in Serbia. The rally is part of their effort to bring people together before election day.
And there it is: a song that has meant so much to me for years, chosen to bring people together around something that matters to them.
Hearing “I’m still alive” in this context hits differently. ❤️
Alive. Still alive. 🤘

I have an extra ticket for Jeff’s Since Forever book tour for the Nov 13th date. Would anyone like it? Not charging for it, would just like for it to go to someone who would enjoy the event. I can transfer it to you via the Dice app.
