Toy making time!
About twice a year, I destroy my living room with a toy making assembly line. Made well over 100 toys for my flock. Now to watch them go up in shreds over the next 6 months. 😂

I just removed a graphically violent AI slop video involving a fake cocktoo being murdered. I expect this to happen again.
THEY AREN'T REAL.
PLEASE for the love of all that's good, if you run into a violent or suspected AI slop post, DO NOT INTERACT WITH IT. Report it. Report it. JUST REPORT IT.
Do NOT give it engagement, do not try to talk to the person, YOU CAN'T CONVINCE PEOPLE NOT TO DO THIS. For these kinds of posts, any engagement is considered good engagement. Even downvoting and condemnation is engagement. DO NOT.
Let your mod team handle this.

Hello /r/parrots community! It’s your friendly neighborhood mod team here.
This sub doesn’t have too many rules, but perhaps the most important is to be civil and respectful towards others. We do not tolerate rudeness or personal attacks, regardless of context. You may ask why we take this rule so seriously.
While it’s never a bad idea to just generally be nice, we also have this rule for a very important reason: to help people take better care of their birds. How, you may ask? We strive very hard to keep this community a place where people feel comfortable asking questions so they can receive feedback.
We recognize that people feel very strongly about parrot husbandry, and that seeing birds in conditions that are not ideal can be difficult, but we also know that making attacks or being snarky doesn’t help anyone. Instead, it makes people defensive or nervous to ask questions. When we fail to foster a community where people can look for advice, the parrots lose. Every time.
Our general rule of thumb is this: you shouldn’t say anything online that you wouldn’t say in person to someone you know. Remember that there is a human on the other end of the exchange you’re having. If you’re disagreeing with them, be constructive and kind. Give the sort of advice you’d like to receive. Remember that you may be talking to people in tough situations, or a kid, or someone who has been given outdated information.
Very importantly, if someone violates this rule in their response to you, do not respond in kind. Instead, please report the comment.
That report button is one of the most important tools we have as a community! We check threads all the time, but with a constant stream of new content, it’s always possible for us to miss something.
We ask that you please hit that report button if you believe someone is violating the rules. The moderators review each and every post or comment that gets reported, and we will take action as appropriate. You can also reach our team via modmail if you have an issue.
We appreciate your help keeping the subreddit friendly and welcoming. We are grateful to everyone who contributes their time and experience to help people learn about parrots, to everyone who asks for help when they need advice, and to the folks who share their wonderful birds with us!
All the best,
The /r/parrots mods

😭 He insists on drinking water from our dogs bowl despite the fact that I change the water in his bowl daily and he is fine with eating his chop out of the same identical food bowl 😩😭
Why would he do this? It is funny for sure and our dog is elderly and doesn’t give two sh**s but I’m just curious as to why he would suddenly decide to do this.

Put a down payment on him for 180 and the rest is 550 which I’m paying on Sunday. Comes with cage toys foods perches bedding and everything else but will be splurging a ton on them.
He (or she) is so sweet and was preening my girlfriend’s hair in the store while we were holding him.
I’ve noticed in the first photo, his claw is splayed up. Is that normal? It’s also in another photo I took.

I played some Pirates Of The Caribbean for him, to make him feel a little more at home. 😂

i love this picture so much❤️we’ve had both of them for almost 3 years now and they’ve been inseparable since the day we got them. sadly the green parrot died a few days ago because of how bad the haze is rn (we live in singapore)😞😞our whole family is so sad that he’s only been with us for a short time. i hope he knows how much we love him and have tried our very best to keep him alive. now i am concerned about the blue parrot, she seems normal but during the first night she wouldn’t stop chirping and we think she’s looking for her little partner. but now she seems to take it well, she just doesn’t like to be in her cage and keeps going into our yellow buddy cage (they don’t get along lol)
i miss my little buddy so much i hope he’s happy and knows that his little partner is doing alright🪽

This is Pixie the moustache parakeet. He (gender still unknown) was attacked as a fledging by some bigger birds in an aviary where I was housesitting at the time. Unfortunately out of the 3 fledglings Pixie was the only survivor. He’s blind in one eye, but a very happy Birb almost a year later :)

I got her a week ago Saturday. She's around 2. Slowly making progress. He will step 1 foot on me so far. She will preen my arm hairs. But she will also give me a good little squeeze wither her beak. I wouldn't call it a bit. But its a good little pinch. She also licks me and rubs her beak on me. Won't let me touch her. Ive been letting her make all the moves.

We left a window partially but impossible for Kai (the conure) to fly out of for her enrichment. And Kai likes to be very very loud especially when we leave. Well as it turns out, Kai, who has the survival instincts of a peanut, called a very polite friend over as she waited outside for dinner very patiently as a result of her loud squawking 😭😭
When we saw it we immediately went on birdie LOCKDOWN, closing off the lights and curtains, locking the windows and doors. Luckily he eventually flew off but gosh dang she can be so dang loud lmao. Luckily she's never flown away and we take a lot of precautions so she doesn't fly out of the house, but I don't think she has any clue what her friends were waiting on outside

Hi everyone!
I just brought home my very first parrot today! He’s a male Pineapple Green-Cheek Conure, a little over 3 months old, and I’m already obsessed with this little guy. 🥹💚
I’m completely new to owning birds, so I’d really appreciate some advice from people who have experience with conures. I’ve been doing my research, but I’d also love to hear what has personally worked for you and what you wish you’d known when you first got yours.
His wings were already clipped when I got him, and I’m planning to let his flight feathers grow back naturally. I’d love some guidance on keeping his feathers healthy in the meantime.
I’m also trying to figure out how to build trust with him and eventually teach him to step up onto my finger. Since he’s still so young and only arrived today, I don’t want to overwhelm him. How did you guys approach bonding and training during those first few days or weeks?
I’d especially appreciate recommendations for toys! What kinds of toys do Green-Cheek Conures actually enjoy? I’m looking into chewing toys, foraging toys, and anything that’ll keep him entertained and mentally stimulated. I’d love to see your cage setups too!
I’m also curious about their diet, favourite training treats, bathing routines, and anything else I should be aware of as a beginner.
One more thing: I work shifts that can be 8–9 hours long. He’ll normally stay in my bedroom, but while I’m working, I’m planning to move his cage into the living room so he can have my family around instead of being alone all day. Does that sound like a good arrangement?
I’ll attach some pictures and videos of him so you guys can meet him!
Please feel free to share any advice, even the little things that might seem obvious to experienced owners. I really want to give this little guy a happy, healthy life. 💚

My friend got this baby and the seller told him it's an opaline so my friend asked me to post here to see if it's correct. He loves him regardless he's just curious about it.
