Does consistent mating behaviour toward human women mean a corella is male?
Quick background info, an elderly family friend with quite the menagerie of feathered roommates has told me I can inherit his corella, Charlie, when the time comes he can no longer care for him, due to the fact that Charlie is obsessed with me and I also am very fond of Charlie and birds in general.
After recently learning that Charlie has never been DNA tested, I’m wondering if we might be wrong about Charlie’s sex, which has only been guessed based off behaviour.
We all operate under the assumption that Charlie is male (his age and origins are unknown as he was a rescue case), primarily due to the mating behaviours (read: extreme horniness and general excitement) he exhibits when a female guest (an unusual occurrence for him) gives him attention. Charlie has a reputation for being unpredictable with men, including his owner who he has a long, usually positive bond with, and has messed up some fingers and faces pretty badly before, but has never shown any aggression towards a woman, instead constantly speaking, dancing, poking his head through the wire for scratches, and occasionally grabbing hands in his talons to hump.
Obviously humping is something female parrots do too, but does this sound like male parrot behaviour to you?

I’m concerned NSFW
I posted a similar video yesterday but I feel like today I actually got a decent video of it. I just got my blue crowned conure a few days and started noticing him moving his head up and down slowly. It almost looks like he could have trouble breathing but his tail isn’t going up or down it’s mainly just vibrating some. He could also just be tired but he should’ve gotten a full 12 hours last night so I’m kinda concerned. He is only 4 months old so it could just be some baby behavior. I do now have a vet visit planned for just a regular checkup in a few days, so I plan on showing them the video and see what they say, but wanted to see what you guys thinks about it.

Does anyone elses cockatiel act like you are inconveniencing them?
Dolly will scream for my attention and then act absolutely offended when I give it to her,
like I have interrupted a very important meeting.
I am starting to think I just live in her house.
...And before anyone asks for pictures, Her majesty has rejected every photo I've taken.
Apparently, her beauty is best appreciated in person 🤣 and my photography skills are beneath her standards. 🙄

Why won’t my bird drink out of his own water bowl anymore?
😭 He insists on drinking water from our dogs bowl despite the fact that I change the water in his bowl daily and he is fine with eating his chop out of the same identical food bowl 😩😭
Why would he do this? It is funny for sure and our dog is elderly and doesn’t give two sh**s but I’m just curious as to why he would suddenly decide to do this.

the last kiss
My grandmother took this photo. Fred the parrot—the male, who had more yellow markings—passed away a month later. A week after Fred’s death, Lulu the parrot also passed away, from a broken heart. Rest in peace, my dear ones.

Rescued this baby after he was attacked a year ago. Living his best life now
This is Pixie the moustache parakeet. He (gender still unknown) was attacked as a fledging by some bigger birds in an aviary where I was housesitting at the time. Unfortunately out of the 3 fledglings Pixie was the only survivor. He’s blind in one eye, but a very happy Birb almost a year later :)

At what point do I start taking my parrot outside?
I have a female eclectus who is just under 2 years old. She is a very introverted and chill bird who usually just likes to hangout.
Every two days I will put her cage outside with her so i can give it a light clean as well as wash the mat underneath it. She doesn’t love it but she doesn’t seem to hate it either. I see it as a good way for her to get fresh air and at the very least talk to other birds.
I see a lot of people talking about taking their birds for walks and taking them to shops and stuff but that really worries me.
My bird gets terrified by anything new and I’d be worried that taking her outside would give her a heart attack.
I’m not sure what to do or if I’m being neglectful for not taking her outside all the time. ( I don’t mean out of cage time, I try to give her as much of that as possible.)

Sunny Afternoon
I just wanted to share some photos from this afternoon. Skye is 13 years old and she’s been showing her age more and more recently, so I try to appreciate the good times as much as possible.
She was sunning herself all afternoon, grinding her beak, and was completely relaxed and happy.

my bird only eats peanuts
hello , i recently got a senegal parrot from a local pet shop . i didn't know this at first but he only eats peanuts , i tried giving him different kind of fuits and vegetables , sunflowers , pellets mix , corn , eggs... . he doesn't try to eat them at all .
i tried cutting the veggies and fuits in different shapes .
tried giving them to him in different times on the day .
tried mixing them with crushed peanuts .
tried eating infront of him and making crunch noises .
tried removing the peanuts temporarly .
tried opening peanuts and removing the nuts and replacing them with tiny carrots so he thinks they are nuts but he just throws them .
tried hanging the veggies in different parts of the cage but he just toses them around .
the parrot is a couple of years old so he must have had other food other than peanuts . i appreciate if someone can give me some tips on how to introduce other foods to him .

Feral Ringnecks
I’ve received two completely feral ringnecks from an abuse case that I’m fostering. They are so feral that even being near the cage causes them to absolutely lose their minds and start slamming into the cage walls. They are in quarantine in my bathroom so they have a nice quiet place with huge bright windows for light and certainly the best air air quality, and cage cleanliness that they’ve ever known. They’ve started to acclimate to healthier diets, their feathers are looking better and they’ve actually started figuring out what a toy is.
My question is anyone have advice on the best way to start acclimating them to humans? There are certainly no way right now for me to offer them a treat or get them to even step up on a stick. I spend 1 to 2 hours in the bathroom each day just working on my computer and playing quiet music and talking to them. They do eventually calm down when I’ve been in there for a while and even start to preen and sleep, but as soon as I stand up, they lose their minds again. I suspect this is just going to be a long process, but these are the most feral birds I’ve ever taken in and they can certainly bite the living daylights out of your hand so letting them out of the cage probably does more damage because I have to get them back in eventually and it’s not fun for them or me. Any ideas or is it just a tincture of time?

Advice needed! Rescue kakariki with feather loss
Before anybody comments about vets, ive got an appointment next monday at my local exotic vets, couldnt get one sooner as they get very busy sadly.
This is my emergency rescue I got from someone I know, as the original breeder was going to kill her so a man (my friends family friend) "rescued her" and shoved her in a hampster cage with a budgie said shes horrible to bond with so anxious ect. Thats why my friend contacted me about her because the bird was clearly being abused and I have loads of experience with parakeets and have kept kakarikis before. Her whole thing is a long story but if you have any questions im happy to answer!
Anyways she has severe feather loss around her head and neck, and some patches across her body. My friend who has over 15 rescued parrots said its likely mites and I have found signs of mites and am using mite spray (but will hopefully get something better perscribed by the vet). And i think she may also be plucking due to previous stress + stress of moving alot + bad previous diet.
Im currently feeding her a mix of crushed up p15 tropical pellets, bee pollen powder dusting, calcium powder dusting, small ammounts of fruit and veg to try and increase her nutrition and support feather regrowth before the vet sees her and im gonna try to fully wean her onto pellets (I will be buying smaller ones but for now I only have my P15 as I feed it to my alexandrine). Ive also been quarantining her in her cage (same room but far from my alexandrines cage) the past 13 days, and spraying her for mites weekly + my alexandrine. I would keep her in a seperate room but my family have cats. She is seriously so so lovely, already has begun to eat from my hands and I just wanna do my best to help her so if anybody has any more advice on how I can help in the meantime while waiting for her appointment I would really appreciate it! Ill attatch some pics of her and her fallen out feathers to show you what I mean to see if yall have any other advice! Thank you :)

Parrot Cage Guide
Hi all, I'm searching for a somewhat affordable (ugh) cage for my two parakeets. I'd like to know what the minimum size for the cage should be, and how to decorate the interior of the enclosure. I know that I should get the biggest cage that I can get, but I'm afraid I might not be able to purchase it as of now. In a few weeks, buying everything else will be more accessible.
Would a 76 (width) x 45 x 45 cm cage work until I can buy them something more extravagant? I'm thinking of expanding the space myself, if not. Sorry if this all sounds silly, I'm a teenager paying for all of this with my birthday money and bursary.

Is my budgie acting normal?
I don’t know if I’m just paranoid, but she seems like she’s breathing really fast.

this picture is so precious
i love this picture so much❤️we’ve had both of them for almost 3 years now and they’ve been inseparable since the day we got them. sadly the green parrot died a few days ago because of how bad the haze is rn (we live in singapore)😞😞our whole family is so sad that he’s only been with us for a short time. i hope he knows how much we love him and have tried our very best to keep him alive. now i am concerned about the blue parrot, she seems normal but during the first night she wouldn’t stop chirping and we think she’s looking for her little partner. but now she seems to take it well, she just doesn’t like to be in her cage and keeps going into our yellow buddy cage (they don’t get along lol)
i miss my little buddy so much i hope he’s happy and knows that his little partner is doing alright🪽
