Game Deal Penguin's List of recommendations for the Summer Daze Sale August 14th - 23rd

Ok, time for the 3rd summer sale apparently! Tons of games in this one.. like 1300+ games, apps, and dlcs.. And a few crazy good bundles. There are some games or deals that I will mark with *** *** to bring special attention to.. either a great deal, or a great game that is highly recommended.

I'm not affiliated with any of the games, developers, or publishers for any of my recommendations on this list.. Yes, I talk to many of them, but a game will not appear in my list if I do not personally like it.

As always.. Feel free to comment, discuss, agree, disagree, or recommend something I may have left off. If you have questions, feel free to ask!

Action Hero https://queststoredb.com/game/action-hero-7021123758002222 $4.99 This is basically just a prettier version of Super Hot. If you like Super Hot, then you will like this one. Lowest price it has been.

Airspace Defender https://queststoredb.com/game/airspace-defender-7523170214434197/ $6.99 its an amped up Missile Command on crack! Love this one. Look for the new bundle with Banners and Bastions just a little below..

Alien Rogue Incursion https://queststoredb.com/game/alien-rogue-incursion-24882487241367228 $9.99 is a no brainer. Its not as scary as Alien Isolation, but it’s a great action game if you are a fan of the series. This is 75% off.. and its very well done. fan

Among Giants https://queststoredb.com/game/among-giants-25060508500262559/ $11.99 Dont let the low poly graphics fool you. This is "Among" the best games to be released this year and will probably be in quite a few "top 10s of 2026" lists in December. If you want a huge open world, give it a shot.. If its not your thing, then you know you can refund it. It has very positive ratings, but some cannot get over the graphics.. but others just fall in love with it.

Apex Construct https://queststoredb.com/game/apex-construct-2096570290365140/ its .99 cents .. Its a decent, but older bow and arrow game.

*** *** Arizona Sunshine (whoops someone f###ed up) Bundle *** *** https://queststoredb.com/bundle/freddys-bundle-1170744047470881/ $8.99 Seriously, this is Arizona Sunshine Remake AND Arizona Sunshine 2 for $8.99 ... Do not pass on this one! Not sure if intentional or not, but take advantage of someone's f### up.. (Yes, I'm censoring myself since these posts get like 80,000 views.. I gotta stay classy and not say Fuck)

*** *** Arken Age https://queststoredb.com/game/arken-age-29923535407244981/ $17.99 This was my Game of the Year for 2025 and I played like 150+ games last year. Love this one. 14 hour campaign.. Get it! Very replayable since it has New Game+ mode..

Banners and Bastions https://queststoredb.com/game/banners-bastions-8387152738076399 $6.99 A great little strategy game. Very addictive. Place your troops, kill the enemies and prepare for the next wave.

BannerSpace Defender Bundle .. As mentioned above, this is Airspace Defender and Banners and Bastions bundled together for 44% off.. Only $10.99 for both games. https://queststoredb.com/bundle/tabletop-warfare-bundle-1726701938719692/ Bounce Arcade https://queststoredb.com/game/bounce-arcade-6641604619291459/ the first of the "buy it cause its a buck" games on the list. Only .99 cents.. You are inside a pinball machine, your hands are the flippers .. basically..

Bulletstorm https://queststoredb.com/game/bulletstorm-vr-6565887093433499 $8.99 Yeah.. upon release this game was a broken mess, but the devs totally fixed it and its really fun now. Don't be put off by the 4.1 rating.. it got down to like 3.4 or so while it was broken, and has made its way back up. Chaotic fun! Lowest price.. 70% off

Catjinni Survivors https://queststoredb.com/game/catjinni-survivors-9319040004779451/ $7.99 Ok.. some of you guys got me hooked on Vampire Survivors, and now I have gotten hooked on Catjinni .. is it goofy? yes.. but if you like Vampire Survivors, you will probably like this one too.. especially if you are a cat person.

Centipede VR https://queststoredb.com/game/centipede-vr-26292894803687512/ $19.99 First time for this one on the list.. and to be honest, I've sat here debating whether it goes on here or not. There were issues with it when it released, those have been addressed and improved. I wish the discount was a little better. This is NOT an easy game, but most of you guys who know me also know I love a good challenge.. It was too hard on release due to ammo shortage, its better now, but you still have to play smart.

Cities VR https://queststoredb.com/game/cities-vr-4046879905345967/ $2.99 While not as good as the PC game, this one is not bad at all for $3.00 .. that is 85% off and the lowest its been.

Coastermania https://queststoredb.com/game/coastermania-7856648691073700/ $10.99 This one is in my list every time, but now there is a NEW reason! Ok, so basically what I always say.. Design a coaster in mixed reality and watch it go around your room.. then go to VR mode and ride it yourself! Ok.. Now the crazy dev has done one of the coolest things ever! Turn on the game, and scan your room, do a good job and take your time.. When the scan is done, give it some time to do some background shit.. Design your coaster while you wait.. Then, when its done you can shrink down and ride it through your damn room! Its freaking cool as hell being the size of a mouse in your room and your real furniture is huuuuge as you go by it! If you couldn't tell, I love it!

Crashland https://queststoredb.com/game/crashland-1884760688319818/ $14.99 ...out of the 700+ games I own, this will always be in my top 10. Hardest game in VR. You have been warned. Recently updated with a full 2nd campaign as well.

Dark Trip https://queststoredb.com/game/dark-trip-27793698076945636/ $4.99 Ah yes.. Dark Trip. an edgy, adult oriented escape room type game where you must consume pills (that are totally NOT drugs.. mmmkay) and you will hallucinate and see the rooms "differently" .. joking aside, I love this game. Its weird as hell. See if you can find the Penguin Easter Egg!

Dart Racer https://queststoredb.com/game/dart-racer-6918614874833696/ $6.99 now this is pod racing! There are several pod racing type games out there, including the officially licensed one , and yet this one is the best out of all of them.

Dawn of Jets https://queststoredb.com/game/dawn-of-jets-3677727965681410/ $19.99 while not the greatest discount for sure, its probably the best flight sim in on Quest.. pretty much better than all the Warplanes games combined.

Dungeons of Eternity https://queststoredb.com/game/dungeons-of-eternity-6341779295861881 $19.99 Multiplayer dungeon crawler. One of the best games on Quest.

Eye of the Temple https://queststoredb.com/game/eye-of-the-temple-5361030930653377 $12.99 nothing else like it in VR.. you MUST have the required space to play it though! 6' X 6' (not sure what that equals in heathen units lol ).. You feel like Indiana Jones, and you walk in real life to play. May cause "woozyness"..

*** Forefront *** https://queststoredb.com/game/forefront-28816918137899319/ $19.99 Ok, so this is basically Battlefield in VR. If you know Battlefield, then you know what to expect. If you like multiplayer shooters, and you are not already playing this, then you are truly missing out on an extraordinary game. 16 vs 16 battles with different classes, vehicles and somewhat destructible environments. This game will take over your life.

Ghost Signal : a Stellaris Game https://queststoredb.com/game/ghost-signal-a-stellaris-game-4302631119827554/ $1.99.. a total steal for this price. Control your ship , shoot the bad guys, mine for resources.. it’s a steal for $1.99

Green Hell https://queststoredb.com/game/green-hell-vr-3815577785147028 $8.99 a very hardcore survival game set in the jungle. Looks beautiful.. till you get leaches on your arm.. or worse! Even though it has been out for awhile, they are still dropping updates here and there.

Haymaker https://queststoredb.com/game/haymaker-27755215420792039/ $12.99 First appearance for Haymaker on my list, and there was no hesitation for this one! The dev is really making a great one here. It is early access, but its already fun! Over 1000 ratings already, and I bet most of you have not heard of it. Its a fighting game with a ton of actual moves to pull off! Its brutal and bloody.. Break bones, snap necks, use weapons, block, kick, throw and use the environment to destroy your opponents! With enemy adaptive AI, the enemies are unpredictable!

Hellsweeper https://queststoredb.com/game/hellsweeper-vr-3589244014451286 $7.99 one of my all time favorite games. Rogue like demon killing game.. extreme movement mechanics though. Not for people with weak VR legs. This is the lowest price it has ever been. Sure it does not look as great as the PCVR version, but you will be too busy jumping, flipping and killing things to care. Lots of weapons, magic, and crazy hidden mechanics to entertain you for a long time.

Hide The Corpse - Mansion Edition .. Another cracked out bundle. https://queststoredb.com/bundle/hide-the-corpse-mansion-expansion-edition-567247812623153/ This includes the base game plus the usually $3.99 DLC for only $7.99.. Yet the base game by itself is $8.99.. Because math is hard I guess. What is it about? You just killed a big guy.. You must dispose of or hide the body, get rid of evidence, and all traces anything went down.. Oh, and the cops will be there in 4 minutes ... GO!

Hubris https://queststoredb.com/game/hubris-5722114367801351/ $5.99 kind of a typical sci fi game, however it has amazing graphics for a standalone headset. Decent size campaign! Lowest price it has been.

Into Black https://queststoredb.com/game/into-black-5289374691122516/ $11.99 Explore an alien planet by yourself or with friends.. one of the top games for 2024. Seriously a great game.. long campaign and beautiful environments.

*** Into the Radius *** https://queststoredb.com/game/into-the-radius-5817243991680545/ $16.99 another must own. Hours upon hours of play time.. And quite terrifying too. This is the lowest price it has been.

Into The Radius 2 https://queststoredb.com/game/into-the-radius-2-6605328856182465/ $27.99 This one has been in early access since May of 2025, but that is getting ready to change! On August 27th, we are getting the Full Release with the story, campaign, and tons of other stuff! Buy it now, before it goes up to $39.99

Iron Guard Complete Bundle $16.99 https://queststoredb.com/bundle/iron-guard-complete-bundle-1118756800321869/ the 2 best tower defense games on Quest for one low price!

Laser Dance https://queststoredb.com/game/laser-dance-7209598115800315/ $7.99 the unexpected hit at my Christmas party last year! There are a lot of "avoid the lasers like Tom Cruise" games out there, but this is the best!

Le Dino Labo + 3 dlcs bundle for $11.99 https://queststoredb.com/bundle/le-dino-labo-starter-pack-1433609830961717/ put together dinosaur skeletons, then scale them up to full size! A must have for any dinosaur nerd out there! * Looking at you Ross Gellar!

Memoreum https://queststoredb.com/game/memoreum-9135633756555622/ $10.99 Dead Space in VR... basically. Decent sized campaign.. decent story and monsters. Great price.

Meta City Patrol https://queststoredb.com/game/metacity-patrol-6779063182133413/ $6.99 This one will be on the list every time its on sale. I have had it for a long time and it is finally out of early access. its a ton of fun. See if you can find the Penguin easter egg! (Hint.. its Penguin Shit Toilet paper.. lol)

*** *** Metro Sunshine Bundle !!!! This is Metro Awakening and Arizona Sunshine 2 for only $11.99 that's like 80% off! https://queststoredb.com/bundle/metro-awakening-arizona-sunshine-2-bundle-1316974229451297/

Of Lies and Rain https://queststoredb.com/game/of-lies-and-rain-8807261575967907/ $14.99 Another one of the better games that came out last year.. long campaign and cool story. Kind of reminds me a bit of the Matrix in some way. Looks great on Quest 3. This is the lowest price it has been.

One More Delve https://queststoredb.com/game/one-more-delve-9945891372196615/ $9.99 And yet another first timer on my list here with One More Delve. Its a multiplayer physics based dungeon crawler where you can use weapons, shields and magic to cause your enemies to have a bad day. Nice blood splatter effects. While its not perfect, its a lot of fun and a decent challenge too! Still being worked on and updated.

Pinball FX https://queststoredb.com/game/pinball-fx-vr-7255396864545733/ $3.99 its pinball, In mixed reality. Includes 3 tables, others will cost ya! The other tables are great though, and there are a few tables/bundles on sale right now too. (The Bethesda and Godzilla tables are great!)

Propagation Paradise Hotel https://queststoredb.com/game/propagation-paradise-hotel-8826022237415280/ $8.99 horror fans, do not let this on pass you by. Totally serious. Yes it is a zombie game, but its also one of the best ones on Quest. Short but very intense game.. it is quite gory too.. and a few jump scares.. . lowest price ever!

Realm Craft https://queststoredb.com/game/realmcraft-5355683574480106/ $9.99 Normally I will only recommend games that I myself have played, however with this one, I am taking my grandson’s word on it. He says it’s the best Minecraft clone out there. They also keep adding to this one.. so its only getting better. Actually, I have played it now.. and I have no idea wtf I am doing.. but its pretty fun!

Red Matter 1 and 2 https://queststoredb.com/game/red-matter-2180753588712484/ https://queststoredb.com/game/red-matter-2-3682089508520212/ $12.99 and $15.99 best looking games on Quest. Absolute S tier... a couple of must owns for any VR gamer.

Resist https://queststoredb.com/game/resist-3683568971682157/ $9.99 yes, there are a lot of Spider-Man with guns games out there, but this is the best. Looks amazing on Q3.. Good VR legs required.

Shoguns Empire https://queststoredb.com/game/shoguns-empire-25662225113424807/ $5.99 turn based strategy based in feudal Japan! Great game. Tons and Tons of content.

Sitting In Your Car Simulator https://queststoredb.com/shittinginyourcarsimulator/game/numbers/8675309/ Fantastic car sitting sim. Several levels. Sitting in parking lot, stuck in traffic, long drive through line, and sitting in your own driveway. Interact with a phone, radio.. Turn on and off your hazards and headlights. Adjust your mirrors. Working windshield wipers and wiper fluid. Lock and unlock your car. Hidden owners manual in glove box to read while waiting. Contemplate your life choices while sitting in your virtual car! Note, this is only a sitting game right now but there is convertible/sunroof dlc coming soon!

Sword Trip https://queststoredb.com/game/swordtrip-5563556133768177/ $5.99 another of those hidden gems I love finding. This one is a rogue like set in China and plays a bit like Until You Fall. Recently had an update that doubled the content! hell of a deal honestly..

Table Troopers https://queststoredb.com/game/table-troopers-8293950053976436/ $4.99 Table Troopers is an absolute blast. It is a tabletop real-time strategy game where players command miniature troops in virtual reality. Players deploy units, manage resources, and engage in tactical combat directly on a virtual table surface from a god-like perspective. Its pure chaotic fun in either single player or multiplayer!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles https://queststoredb.com/game/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-empire-city-6635073589916590/ $17.99 You know the deal.. you are Ninja Turtles and you fight the bad guys. Single or multiplayer.. semi-open world environment.. great graphics and sound. A steal for $17.99..

The Light Brigade https://queststoredb.com/game/the-light-brigade-2681027292004911/ $9.99 Another roguelike, but this time instead of swords, magic, or bows.. You got guns! It plays great, good graphics and sound. Boss fights are challenging. Oh.. I take back what I wrote above.. There is magic.. This is the lowest price it has been. another steal for this price.

The Pirate: Republic of Nassau https://queststoredb.com/game/the-pirate-republic-of-nassau-7749043518464805/ $11.99 This is basically Sid Meyer's Pirates in VR.. with a touch of Assasin's Creed whatever.. with the pirates.. you know the one.

*** *** Awakening a Thief Bundle .. This is Metro Awakening and Thief VR Legacy of Shadows for $19.99 https://queststoredb.com/bundle/thief-vr-legacy-of-shadow-metro-awakening-bundle-870984088636927/ another great deal.. 60% off!

Underworld Overseer https://queststoredb.com/game/underworld-overseer-7249464208476495 $9.99 one of my favorites from last year. Its Dungeon keeper in vr. You are the bad guy, and heroic humans are invading your dungeon to kill you. Design your dungeon, hire monsters, train them, set traps and try to survive. Fun as hell.

Vendetta Forever https://queststoredb.com/game/vendetta-forever-9177531962317371/ $9.99 another of my all time favorites. No story, no plot, just pure action. You must kill to move. Shoot the bad guy, he dies and his gun goes up in the air or on the ground, do a "force grab" and instead of the weapon coming to you, you actually go to the weapon. Watch the trailer. A fuckton of levels. The level called Blind is one of the best levels in any game. And yes.. There is a penguin Easter egg in the Birds Aren't Real level..

Wraith the Oblivion: Afterlife https://queststoredb.com/game/wraith-the-oblivion-afterlife-2562090053828017/ .99 cents!!! This one is actually pretty good. You are already dead, and you have to solve your own murder. You cant beat it for a dollar!

Zix https://queststoredb.com/game/zix-8582035711867299/ $7.99 Oh, this is a weird one, but I love it. I did a review on this one.. here.. linky.. https://old.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/comments/1o3bb55/zix_review_and_giveaway_2_keys_up_for_grabs_by/ (and the giveaway is long over.. )

And that is it my friends! Post below and let me know what you get!

PCVR For PCVR Users, you can completely ditch Metas PCVR software.

With the release of Steam VR version 2.18, Steam Link now supports tethered connections. This completely cuts out the need for the Meta Quest Link app. If you were hesitant to buy Virtual Desktop for 15 dollars, you can get the Steam Link app for free on the Meta Quest store.
Their is basically no reason not use Steam Link over Meta's crappy PCVR software, even with people with poor network connections (minus Quest Store PCVR exclusives).

Support - Standalone Quest 3 Bricked by Official Update—Meta Support Refusing Replacement & Graduate Education Interrupted

Hi everyone,

I’m posting here out of absolute frustration. A recent official Meta software update completely bricked my Meta Quest 3 headset. It was working flawlessly right before the patch, and now it is a completely unresponsive paperweight because of a forced firmware crash.
The biggest issue right now is that this headset is an absolute necessity for my graduate studies. I am a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) graduate student, and I rely heavily on this Quest 3 to run Simvana for my high-fidelity anesthesia simulations, ventilator management, and clinical training. Being locked out of my device means my critical hands-on lab preparation and education are completely interrupted right now. I cannot afford to fall behind in a demanding medical program because of a developer-side software glitch.

I spent hours on the phone and in chats with support. I did absolutely everything they asked—hard reboots, factory reset attempts, side-loading checks—and nothing worked. The support agent even explicitly told me in writing, "I understand your perspective regarding the firmware update causing the boot loop, and I completely see why you are requesting an exception under these circumstances." Yet, despite acknowledging the exact timing of the update failure and the clear need for an exception, they still refused to escalate my case to a Tier 2 supervisor or grant the replacement because it is technically out of warranty.

Let's be clear: this is a known issue within the community, and this is absolutely not normal wear and tear. This isn't physical damage or user neglect. It is Meta's own forced software destroying the physical integrity of a device. Consumers cannot opt out of these updates, which means Meta holds the direct responsibility to stand by their software deployments and fix what their code broke.

I am desperately looking for advice moving forward.

Expecting me to pay $240.00 for a refurbished headset is unacceptable and unethical business practices.

Has anyone had any luck with this? I am going to report to BBB, Attorney General, and Federal Trade Commission.

I've just finished published a VR standalone version of the SEGA Dreamcast classic - 18 Wheeler - American Pro Trucker. Check out the github link for details.

I loved this game back when I had a Dreamcast, and this puts you right back in the driver's seat :)

This is my first time working on decomps, and I completed the whole thing using Google Gemini Argon. Overall it took about half a day to complete, and was really help be previous work from others working in this space.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

Discussion Launched a new game on Meta and got ZERO visibility. What gives!?

First let me say this, I’m not trying to promote my game. I am genuinely asking if anyone has had this issue, and how they resolved it.

We recently launched Daumier: Lila & Ghost on Meta Quest, but our game never appeared in the New Releases section. Like NADA!

After contacting Meta, they finally added it… for LESS THAN AN HOUR before it disappeared again.

Meanwhile, games that have been on the store for over a year are still showing up under New Releases.

Seriously, how are indie developers supposed to succeed if our games aren't even being seen?

We're doing marketing, building a community, and pushing hard, all of the things, but shouldn't newly released games get a fair shot at visibility?

Has anyone else experienced this? Were you able to get Meta to fix it? Any suggestions?

We're not asking for special treatment. Just a fair chance to be discovered.

Sidequest/Sideloading New version of ADB Auto-Enable with GUI

Post image
23 Upvotes

Hi all,

I did made some self-promotion 6 months ago about a small application which enabled and kept ADB Wireless enabled on Meta Quest 3 without having to click any button anywhere.

I did reworked it a little and now everything is even faster (reenabled and pass the popup under 200ms, and should be invisible on first boot) and offers a GUI for those of you who where worry to not see any application opening ;)

Feel free to test it and report bugs if you have any !

Discussion It's like this UI was built by someone who has never used a computer before.

Why is there no "Downloads?" I'd like to see what's happening on my Quest. It's part of every digital game store ever.

Why is there no "Download" button on purchases that you've made? I bought Pinball FX about 4 hours ago, and it still isn't installed. If I go into the store it shows me that I paid for it. If I go into Apps, it's not there.

There seems to be no way to trigger the download of anything that I've purchased. It does seem like a few things are updating, since the Quest hasn't been used in a while, but there's no way to view activity. The "Notifications" screen is maybe 40% useful.

I've changed the power settings so that it doesn't turn off for 4 hours in the hopes that it will get caught up, or trigger something to download my purchase, but it's still just sitting there doing nothing.

What a frustrating device with SO much potential.

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone Update: Contraband VR Cinema - 3 Months in.

I posted here a few months ago about building a VR cinema for indie films on Quest and got a fantastic response from this community, so wanted to share where things stand.

Since launch we have screened our first indie feature, Handle With Care, directed by Matthew James Thompson and starring Justin H. Min from The Umbrella Academy, before it hit the festival circuit. The community rated it and gave us honest feedback that shaped how we run screenings. We have also done a couple of Buster Keaton classics to test the infrastructure - turns out a 100 year old film in a dark VR room with strangers hits differently.

Here is what has been added since the original post:

Trailers - we regularly update the trailers section in the app so you can get a feel for upcoming films before you commit to a screening.

Shorts - we have added a curated section of short films from YouTube, indie and AI films worth watching, free to watch on demand with an account.

Watch parties - we can now host free watch parties of films released on YouTube, especially documentaries. Think spectacular visuals that deserve a big screen, watched together at a set time.

We have over 400 monthly active users from 22 countries now and the app is still free to download on the Meta Quest Store.

If you have been sitting on the fence since the first post, the Shorts section is probably the lowest friction way to see what the experience feels like. Most of all, check it out and give me feedback on how we can best improve this. We are also exploring converting some of the older films (in public domain) to 3D so that it is a genuinely unique experience.

Love to hear your thoughts : contraband.watch - Search for Contraband VR Cinema on the Meta App store.

Quest Mod MAX PAYNE VR: NIGHTMARE EDITION

Discord: https://discord.gg/xY6k5heFQ

Before anything else, I want to give credit to Gandork vonWowerstein, the original creator of the open-source Max Payne VR project. Without his work and source code, none of this would have been possible.

Quick update: The Sony Discman shown in my gameplay footage is only part of my development build. The public release will use a different, unbranded Discman.

I've taken his project as a starting point and have been working on my own heavily modified version called Max Payne VR: Nightmare Edition.

My goal is to take the original VR port further by adding new mechanics, improving interactions, redesigning parts of the experience, and making the game feel more natural in VR.

I've only been working on this for three days, but I've already managed to get quite a lot done.

What's already implemented?

Weapons and combat

  • Fully implemented VR hands and motion controls.
  • Dual-wielding, including two Berettas or two Uzis.
  • The ability to mix different weapons between hands, such as a pistol and an Uzi.
  • Reworked weapon handling and aiming.
  • Adjustable weapon holster positions.
  • Bullet Time, including slow-motion dives.

Redesigned main menu

One of the biggest changes I've made so far is replacing the traditional main menu with an actual 3D environment inside Max's house.

You can stand inside the house, look around, and interact with the menu in VR. I've also added atmospheric details around the fireplace to make the whole environment feel more connected to the game.

Players can switch between the original classic menu and my new VR menu.

The new environment is separate from the story campaign, so it doesn't interfere with the original game.

Cutscenes and camera

  • Original Max Payne story and atmosphere preserved.
  • VR adaptations of the original cinematic cutscenes.
  • Free-look camera during cutscenes.
  • Different camera control modes.
  • Improvements to the overall cinematic experience.

Other VR improvements

  • Custom in-game VR menu.
  • Adjustable holsters and weapon interactions.
  • Rendering optimizations for VR hands and weapons.
  • Performance improvements focused on Meta Quest 3.
  • Ongoing work on movement, controls, and stability.

What I'm planning next

I have quite a few ideas that I haven't implemented yet.

Interactive memories and flashbacks

This is something I'm particularly excited about.

I want to make Max's house more than just a place where you select menu options.

My idea is to add objects such as old photographs, glasses, and other personal belongings that players can physically pick up.

For example, picking up a photograph could trigger a flashback to one of the worst moments of Max's life.

I think there's a lot of potential here, especially considering the game's story and atmosphere.

Challenges and rewards

I'm also planning to add a system that rewards players for completing different challenges.

Some of the ideas include:

  • Completing the game on different difficulty levels.
  • Time trials and speedrun challenges.
  • Special achievements.
  • Unlockable rewards.

I'd like to give players more reasons to return to the game after finishing the story.

More advanced VR interactions

Weapon handling is still something I'm actively improving. I want aiming, movement, and physical interactions to feel as natural as possible.

I'll also continue expanding the new menu environment and adding more interactive objects.

Why am I making this?

I've always been a fan of Max Payne, and I think the first game works incredibly well in VR.

I'm not trying to replace the original VR port or take credit for someone else's work. Gandork vonWowerstein created the foundation that made this possible, and I respect that.

Nightmare Edition is simply my own direction for the project.

I want to experiment with ideas that go beyond the original port while keeping the story, atmosphere, and gameplay that made Max Payne such a memorable game.

And yes, I've really only been working on this for three days.

There's still plenty to fix and improve, and I'm learning a lot as I go. But I'm enjoying the process, and I have quite a few things planned that I haven't shown yet.

If you're interested in following development or trying the available builds, you can join my Discord:

Discussion For the wonderful people who are creating VR portings: Add Tunnelling Vignette for reduce motion sickness!

I was trying some porting these days: Halo CE VR and Perfect Dark.
Great games, really woderful porting... but both times i got a very strong motion sickness! I try to find in the VR options the setting for enable the Tunnel Vision vignette (or Vision Occlusion). I can't find in none of the porting i try (maybe i miss them?).
Anyway, i want to suggest to add this feature if possible in every project that require to move fast since this could really be a game changer for comfort.
Thanks to everybody and keep it up! 😄

PCVR I have problem with meta quest link

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

My friend and I are having a really frustrating issue with getting Meta Quest Link to work, and we could really use some help.

PC Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5 12th Gen

GPU: ASUS GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB (Drivers fully up to date)

RAM: 32 GB

Headset: Meta Quest 2

The Problem:

Whenever we try to connect via Meta Quest Link (USB Cable) or AirLink, the headset gets stuck on an infinite loading screen (with the Meta logo) or a black screen. It never actually loads the Link Home environment, and both the PC app and the headset freeze/lag out.

What we've tested so far:

Cable: We are using a good quality USB-C to USB-A 3.0 cable connected directly to the motherboard (rear USB 3.0 ports).

Steam Link: Steam Link actually connects and lets us play (e.g., BeamNG.drive), but it stutters and lags significantly.

Software & Drivers: Both the Oculus PC App, headset OS, and GPU drivers are completely up to date.

We really want to play via the official Meta Quest Link cable for stability instead of using Steam Link or wireless.

Has anyone experienced this infinite logo loading loop on RTX 40-series cards or Intel 12th gen CPUs? What steps should we try to fix the official Link app?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Support - Standalone Is my Quest 3S dying, or is there anything else I can try?

• Upvotes

I've had my Meta Quest 3S since June 2025, and it's always had pretty short battery life. I figured that was just normal for a Quest headset, so I didn't think too much of it. I've played with it plugged in a few times, but never for very long, and I've never used PCVR because I don't own a PC.

About a week ago, I tried plugging my headset in to charge for a while, and it completely shut off. It started showing the Meta logo, then shutting off again. Since then, I've been trying to leave it completely powered off while charging, but even that has been a struggle because it keeps randomly trying to boot up, getting stuck in a loop, and failing to charge properly.

The weirdest part is that it's now doing this boot loop even when it's not plugged in at all. It'll show the Meta logo, shut off, and then keep repeating the process on its own. I've even tried doing a hard reboot, but the issue still happens afterward. It doesn't seem to matter whether it's plugged in or not; it just keeps trying to start up and failing.

I haven't had the original charging cable for a long time, so I've been using other cables. I've tried around five different charging cables, as well as a cheap Chromebook charger, but the issue stays exactly the same regardless of what I use.

I already contacted Meta Support when the charging issues first started. I went through the troubleshooting steps they gave me, but nothing really helped. Their only real suggestion was to buy a replacement headset.

Unfortunately, I'm in a pretty bad situation right now and can't afford to buy another one. I really love my Quest, and it's also the main way I stay in touch with a lot of my friends, so losing it would genuinely suck.

Has anyone else experienced something like this with their Quest 3S? Is there anything else I can try, or does this sound like a hardware or battery issue that can't really be fixed?

I'm really hoping there's another option before I have to say goodbye to my Quest. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Support - PCVR Help with connection of Quest 3 to PC via Quest Link cable

I recently got gifted a quest 3 from a friend of mine after he got the steam frame. Anyways, I bought the quest link cable so I can reliably sim race with the headset. But I cannot get link to work at all or steam vr to recognize the cable. I’m trying this on a pretty much brand new PC as well.

I’ve tried changing power options in the pc, apps are set to beta. It’s weird because link and steam vr work just fine over the charging cable it comes with. But they don’t work with the official link cable (I’m also using a 2nd brand new cable after I returned the first one).

Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this?

Discussion Quest 2 controller power issue

Hi.

Like year ago my right controller fell an I thunk that it stop working. (I remember that tracking broke, but I may be wrong). I don't thunk much about it and had placed it in the shelf for a year.

Now I decided to check it and mabye repair. Sadly battery was inside for the whole time and when I check the right controller the - side was corroded and dont moving (battery dont have any sign of battery acid). I started force moving it and now is moving near to normal. When I input new battery i was perfect working for about 10minutes and lost power. Now I think the power is pulsing. When I tried to pair controller again, lefo one paired without problem, but right started updating. It was updating, stoping and starting again, like the power was lost.

What can I do? Mabye corrosin is inside and i should check it? What can I use to clean it?
