Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone What if we turned every page of a book into a world around you?

I've been exploring this idea of immersive books in mixed reality using Meta Quest 3 and local generative AI.

  1. Give an LLM pages / chapters of a book. Let it write a description of the setting: the place, time of day, weather and light, seen from a seated viewpoint.

  2. Send the descriptions to FLUX.2 Klein 9B with a 360° LoRA, running locally on an RTX 3090. It makes a 2048×1024 equirectangular panorama in about 4 minutes.

  3. Upscale each panorama 4× to 8192×4096 using Real-ESRGAN. Import into Unity and make a build. On the headset, it's compressed to ASTC and shown as a skybox.

  4. During runtime, about once a second, Google ML Kit reads the text in the centre of the headset's camera image, looks them up in the book's text, then displays the appropriate environment.

The next step is 3D worlds using Gaussian splats converted into optimized meshes.

Self-Promotion (Developer) - PCVR We made a VR chicken game. Naturally, it has basketball.

We're making Is That a Chicken? , a Quest game about raising some very strange chickens. 🐣🐔

One of the things you can do is knock a chicken out with boxing gloves, pick it up like a ball, and shoot hoops with it. 🏀

We're launching in late October, and our Meta Quest store page is already live if you want to check it out!

So... what other ridiculous things would you want to do with these chickens in VR?

Discussion 4XVR optimal settings

So as the name suggests I've been trying to tweak 4xvr's settings to get the best picture when watching media(mostly HDR/DV). The settings on default produce quite a dark and dim picture. I understand that the displaysbare LCD hence it's tone mapping the HDR content.

I was wondering if anyone could potentially share when settings they're using with 4xvr, if anything it could be a good place for me to start from, should I need to tweak it for my preferences. In terms of other modifications, setting it to 72hz QGO and enabling fidelityfx cas, does actually help make content look sharper and less juddery. Any help would be much appreciated

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone Sorry! Have a free DLC!

A huge thank you to everyone who tried Infinity during launch!

Unfortunately, a major issue slipped through the initial release build which caused crashes for some players. The problem has now been identified and fixed, and I really appreciate everyone who took the time to report issues and be patient while I worked on a solution.

As a small thank you to the community, I'm giving away one DLC of your choice to anyone who comments during the next 48 hours.

To see the available DLCs:

  1. Open Infinity
  2. Go to the DLCs tab in the menu
  3. Comment below with the DLC you'd like *
  4. I'll send a redemption code via DM

* "Complete Universe" won't be available as this is a pack.

For anyone who missed my previous post, Infinity is a VR space exploration experience for Meta Quest where you can travel across the Solar System and beyond, exploring planets, moons, stars, and galaxies.

Thanks again for all the support, feedback, bug reports, and ideas. They genuinely help shape the future of the project.

What's the next destination you'd most like to visit in Infinity?

Above (blue) is used for cars/kitchen. Below (yellow) is used for cleaning eyewear. Use this one for your headset. Even with the softer cloth material, do not apply any pressure while wiping your lenses, be gentle and make sure no debris is stuck on it. The Lenses are the life of your headset.

Self-Promotion (Content Creator) - Standalone Xelee (Super Smash Bros. Melee XR) 0.1.0 Beta Release

Thumbnail
github.com
8 Upvotes

It’s here!! Xelee is a standalone mixed-reality port of Super Smash Bros. Melee to the Quest 3 and Quest 3S. I’ve been working hard on this for about a month now and I’m confident it’s going to blow your minds. I now consider Xelee the best way to play Melee by some margin; the effect of seeing stages and fighters in mixed reality is transformative. I hope to let the release speak for itself, but here’s the full list of features I typed up for the README:

- Every stage and mode has been tweaked for mixed reality
- Full Slippi support, with Unranked and Direct modes included at launch
- Touch controller support, with rumble
- External gamepad support, with rumble
- Hand tracking for placing, turning and scaling the stage
- Stage placement: place the stage once with Place Stage and every
stage starts there; any stage can be adjusted before its fight.
- Laser pointer menus: point and click through Melee's menus with the Touch controllers or hand tracking
- Asynchronous SpaceWarp (ASW) boosts the base framerate of 60FPS to an apparent 120FPS
- Dynamic resolution to keep performance at a stable lock, ranging from 80% to 130% display resolution.
- Spatial audio makes sound play properly from fighters, and extra stage effects (WIP) give spatial sound effects to stages where vanilla is missing them
- 2xMSAA anti-aliasing
- UCF 0.84 as Slippi plays it (dashback, shield drop, SDI, shield SDI, tumble,
DBOOC fix, 1.0 cardinals), Slippi's no-wobbling, neutral spawn and
freeze-glitch rules, on by default offline (two toggles on the Gameplay page)
- C-Stick in 1P: the C-stick attacks in Classic, Adventure, Training and the
other 1P modes, as in VS (on by default; a Gameplay toggle)

AI blah-blah: Yes, Claude wrote every line of code. It also wrote sound effect generators, built the XR UI that I needed, ran sweeps for hiding stage pieces for MR play, did comparative analysis and fix work against Dolphin, ran extensive optimization rounds, and a million other things. I’m a software engineer by trade and I’ve made my peace with it. LLMs let me develop this into a polished and optimized release that I’m incredibly proud of, and I hope the end result speaks for itself.

Discussion 75 wpm on metas new virtual keyboard

The virual keyboard and trackpad simply blow my mind!!! They work so well. And I can't stop thinking about how well the new vr glasses are going to be for productivity. I also feel like the recent updates to the remote display app has gotten way better. It integrates seamlessly with the virtul keyboard and trackpad. I'm literally sitting on my couch right now and browsing reddit and typing this post on a pillow!@ I testes my wpm and coud easily reach 75 words per minute after a couple of times adjusting to the keyboard, This is impresive. I can actually work with it. I only wish it had more ways to configure it and that it will have suppott for more languages.

Did any of you try the new keyboard and trackpad? What are your first impressions?

Discussion More than a gaming console – Quest 3 is a miracle for my rehabilitation!

Hi everyone, my VR name is Misha.war.weteran.UA.

I am writing this review to express my deepest respect to the creators of the Meta Quest 3. I have lower limb paresis and am currently unable to walk. However, this headset has given me something completely unexpected – a real tool for neurological recovery, freedom, and hope.

Every day, I do two 40-minute sessions where I place my feet on an electric leg exerciser and put on the Quest 3 to watch walking simulations and play competitive shooters like VAIL VR. The visual input combined with the mechanical movement is doing wonders for my rehabilitation! Even watching simple VR videos of walking through a park or being out in nature feels like a massive achievement and progress for me.

For me, gaming here is about travel, exploration, and making new connections. Real-time translation tools allow me to communicate and meet people from all over the world without barriers. Quest 3 is truly so much more than just a gaming console for me.

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone X-Wing Alliance VR for Standalone (OpenXWA-VR) has released.

Neitey's X-Wing Alliance VR is available for download now. It's running natively on Quest 2/3/3s
I am a massive X-Wing series fan and was glad i could help out with some testing.
If you are a X-Wing series fan as we are, you should check this out!

In the video you see a test flight with +60!! starfighters at once. Smooth 72hz at Supersampling 1.1.
The VR menu environments are fully 3D and build from game assets, re-creating the iconic box art from X-wing, Tie-fighter, XWA & X-wing vs Tie fighter.

Features.
- Fully immersive 3D 6DoF cockpits
- Offline Voice Commands (over 20 commands, hint panel in cockpit)
- In-world console and tactical map holo-screens with touch and point interaction.
- Quick access command wheel (holo screen style)
- Cockpit HUD panels you can grab and place anywhere, remembered per cockpit
- Optional virtual flight stick you can grab and fly with
- 5 Immersive 3D VR menu environments (inspired by the original games box art)
- Dynamic controller button mapping hint system
- Mission hints and in-mission quick save / quick load
- Left-handed mode
- Runs natively on Meta Quest 3/3S/2, PC is just needed to install. Pico 4 & Steam Frame support is experimental and needs more testing.

Download: https://github.com/neitey/OpenXWA-Quest (click on releases on the right side)

- What you'll need: A Pc with X-Wing Alliance installed from Steam or GoG.
- Launcher app is included in the download ZIP that handles the file transfer to the headset.

This port is based on the open source project OpenXWA by Adrien Moulin and contributors.

EDIT: Tie-Fighter support in OpenXWA-VR is in development, expect release next week. Gladly most systems can be brought over 1:1 from the XWA vr port. The port will use the TIe cockpits from XWA.

Support - Standalone Mapping house on Quest

I recently came across a video which I can no longer find of someone mapping their house on Apples vision pro to help with some wiring work.

Does the quest have anything like this? This would be quiet handy for me to run some cables on a 2 story building.

If anyone knows please help me out. I have a quest 2 if that matters at all.

Thanks!

I can click to make the word camera go away but not the round blue icon. Same thing when in a call and playing a game. The phone icon does not go away. Help please.

Support - Resolved Steam Link via USB-C

Hi!

Recently Steam released SteamLink VR via usb-c (beta). I was able to make it "work" - the USB cable icone is no longer grey - but I can't see any difference. If I unplug USB cable, nothing happens. If I disable WIFI in headset, then there's no connection available (but cable icon is still lit). It looks like it's detecting cable connection to PC, but link is not using it.

Can anybody explains to me, how does it work, or should working? Am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: RESOLVED!
It was an antyvirus software that's been blocking connection this whole time... When I turned off the protection, headset timidity established connection by cable via IPv6.

ALSO! Info From Valve Dev! (Source: https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/3/592940620292828729/?l=english)

So the Quest USB tethering wants to use IPv6, and it seems like you have IPv6 disabled on your Windows install.
Luckily, there IS a workaround -- though there's no way for the IPv4 stuff to be configured \automatically*, the Steam Link app is forcing a specific IPv4 setting on the Quest side. If you go and configure the Quest-provided NCM connection and use 10.86.13.38 as an IP, you should see the Quest appear on 10.86.13.37. At which point, SteamVR should be able to bind the 10.86.13.38 address, and USB should be used.*

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone I built a VR curling simulation for Quest and need playtesters (solo or 2-player online)

I’ve always found curling fascinating: the precision, the tactics, the way a stone slowly curls across the ice. So I built a curling simulation for Quest. I see it less as a game and more as a sim of the sport, which means the controls take some getting used to.

I’m a solo dev and I’d really like to know three things from people who haven’t seen it before:

  • Does the tutorial get you to a point where you understand how to throw?
  • Does the online 2-player mode run smoothly, without lag or disconnects?
  • What’s missing, or what annoyed you?

No curling knowledge needed, beginners are actually the most useful testers. A session takes about 20-30 minutes. You can play solo, or join me for a match.

I’ll be online for matches on Wednesday, Oct 21 at 23:00 CEST (22:00 UK · 17:00 US East · 14:00 US West) and Sunday, Oct 25 at 20:00 CET (19:00 UK · 15:00 US East · 12:00 US West).

Testers need to be 18+. Join here: https://www.meta.com/s/6BZlYIN04.

I’ll be around in the comments, so ask me anything about the game or how the testing works.

Fluff Headphones for movie watching?

People who enjoy movie watching on the quest, do you use headphones/earbuds for an increased feeling of cinema immersion (and if so what type?) or do you prefer just using the headset?

I’m trying to get as close to a real cinema as i can, without spending a fortune of course!

Thanks in advance :)

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone I made a Quest siege game where you can defend the gate or command the beasts attacking it

Hey, I’m the indie dev behind Warlords at the Gate. It’s a Quest tower-defense game with two ways to play: build towers and hold off the waves, or switch to Beastmaster and send the horde against the fort. I’d love to hear which side looks more fun in the trailer, and what you’d improve.

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone I’m developing Skynarium, a VR astronomy simulator for Quest

Hi everyone — I’m Evgenii, the independent developer of Skynarium, a VR astronomy observation simulator I’m developing for Meta Quest, with Quest 3 as my current target.

The goal is to make observing the night sky feel like an activity you can spend time with in VR. I’d like to hear from people who enjoy astronomy as well as Quest owners who are curious about it: what would make you return to a VR observing session?

The project is in development. Here is its Meta Store page if you’d like to follow it: https://www.meta.com/experiences/app/1394339059552237/

I’m sharing this as the developer and would value your feedback.
