Environment The Palm Oil deception
The Palm Oil deception:
Palm oil companies frequently dispute responsibility over regional haze by arguing satellite hotspots are located ouside their boundaries
This defense has resurfaced recently after an October 2026 report by Greenpeace and Pantau Gambut.
The primary entities involved are First Resources and Bumitama Agri alongside First Borneo Plantations.
1000 thousands haze hotspots seen over satellite.
The common argument:
#1: First Resources claims hotspots do not prove fire origins.
#2: Laying the blame on wildfires started by smallholders, and induced by El Nino were "too fast spreading" and intruded into their border
#3: Data minimization. Claiming that only a minor fraction (8%) of regional hotspots map to formally owned land.
The counter argument. The Palm Oil industry uses concession lines to create an artificial boundary of accountability.
#1: "The fire is not on our land". Supply chain sourcing. Large mills aggresively buy palm oil fruit from illegal third party suppliers who slash-and-burn. Maintaining profits, through "indirect burning"
#2: "Satellites do not prove guilt". As relates to the point above. the company can adhere to strict to "No Deforestration" through lack of traceability beyond the mill
FB just flagged these posts as "misinformation". As if the evidence isnt overwhelming.

Politics Dear Malaysians,
As an Indonesian, i am truly sorry for the Haze that spread throughout Malaysia and Singapore even philippines.
this is entirely Prabowo's fault and ignorance that the fire went uncontrollable and spreading haze all over ASEAN countries. while the forest fire is still at large, Prabowo shrugs it off and went on a honeymoon with his assistant Teddy to russia and boasted all of his half-baked policies that brings more harm to the economy.
it is rumored that the forest fire was burned out of intentions from palm oil corporations and Kalimantan's oligarch Haji Isam who is under the heat for his scummy and evil practice in business. that is why prabowo won't bother on extinguishing the fire which is now spread to jakarta and other indonesian cities.
Prabowo, on the other hand, instead of declaring national emergency status, he goes on many events just to boast his free meal policies that poisoned ten thousand of school childrens.
To add more salt to the wound, whoever tries to post or critique the president anything about kalimantan fire, the minister of communications literally deletes it immediately. while influencers or anyone who criticize it will receive numerous phone calls from unknown number or even whatsapp chat threatening their families if their post is not deleted.
sorry for bad english

Tourism & Travel Places to shop at Kuala Lampur
Hello people! I am going to travel to KL very soon, and need suggestions on the best malls/stores/street shops to shop within reasonable prices. For me, reasonable would be under RM60 per item.Things i want to buy :
-hijabs
-modest clothes
-handbags/purse
-makeup and skincare products(not sephora)
-accessories like rings,earrings.
Please suggest places that are not tourist traps, and places where local people actually shop from. Would be very helpful if you leave addresses/directions to get to the place. Would prefer it if the place can be reached with the MRT. And i also dont mind visiting popular stores if it actually provides good quality items.
Thank you all in advance!

Others Sari Kartina, the first known Malay Muslim transgender woman to have successfully married under Johor syariah law back in 1975, has passed away last August this year in Netherlands
Basically, she had undergone sex-reassignment surgeries in Singapore's Kandang Kerbau Hospital by Dr. S.S. Ratnam in 1974, after encouragement from her first husband (then fiance). Before she met her first husband, she has been living as a female after her teenage years despite being born as a male. Before she undergone the surgery, she even seek religious opinion from Singapore's mufti, who certify she is a woman. In 1975, when she want to marry with her first husband in Johor, her father told the Johor deputy mufti about her background during her nikah ceremony, and after much deliberation with other religious scholars, the Johor deputy mufti concluded that Sari Kartina has in fact became a female and her marriage was legally solemnised and registered under Johor shariah law. After her marriage, she also successfully changed her gender marker in her IC with JPN, which now recognised her as a female.

Food I mapped KL's cafés. Here's what the reviews don't tell you.
I was trying to find cafés to work from around KL.
I ended up mapping them and using AI to read a sample of their Google reviews. These are my maps and charts, from an October 2026 snapshot.
A few things that might help with your next café trip:
- Specialty cafés cluster around Bangsar: 491 of the 824 I found are within 10 km of it, measured in a straight line. The first map shows the places further out too.
- Parking comes up a lot in Bangsar and KLCC. Among cafés whose sampled reviews mention parking, about 7 in 10 in those two areas have complaints. That's 20 of 29 in Bangsar and 14 of 20 in KLCC.
- The median closing time for specialty cafés with listed Wednesday hours is 7 PM. Worth checking before planning an evening there; other cafés tend to stay open later.
- Reviews are surprisingly unhelpful about the work setup. Of the 8,490 cafés whose reviews I read, only 502 mention wifi and 506 mention plugs. No mention doesn't mean the café has neither.
- The median coffee price mentioned for 219 specialty cafés is RM12, with the middle half between RM10 and RM15. These are reviewers' prices, so check the current menu.
How I made it: I started with about 25,000 Google Maps listings around the Klang Valley, then filtered to 11,410 cafés. I read 119,942 reviews across 8,490 of those cafés, about 14 per place: the ones Google showed first, not every review. The map includes 824 cafés classified as specialty. The chain charts use the wider listing set; the search charts use Google's estimates for Malaysia as a whole.
It's a snapshot, not a complete census or a ranking of the best cafés. Small differences can be noise, and listed hours can change.
What's the one thing you wish you could know before choosing a café: parking, noise, plugs, or whether you can stay a while? And which café outside the usual Bangsar/PJ spots deserves a look?

Environment Seluang badar, caught from a plantation ditch
Trigonopoma gracile, seluang badar/pinyih or the graceful rasbora.
It is a small (6 cm) but very skinny fish that is found on the peninsula and Sarawak. There are records from Johor, Selangor and Terengganu.
However it has become extinct in Singapore.
It inhabits acidic swamp forests with slow-flowing habitats. Usually schooling in large numbers, even hundreds!
The usual form is yellow-striped, but some come in red like the one in post. It depends on location and environment. They are a peaceful community fish that can be kept in aquariums with other small species.

Politics Idris cadang Anwar jadi Presiden ‘United Malaysian Nation Organisation’
malaysiagazette.comIdris cadang Anwar jadi Presiden ‘United Malaysian Nation Organisation’
– MalaysiaGazzette
