I saw that Amazon was having a sale on the pro chip so I went over to best buy to price match the sale so I don't have to wait a whole month to get it. First impression so far is the build is really nice. Still need to get used to MacOS as I used windows my whole life.

What are your honest thoughts on the Apple Upgrade Program (Lease) for a Macbook Pro?

Ive been wanting one for a long time but dont want to shell out all that money up front + dont want to finance it and have my credit score go down & be in debt.

I’m considering purchasing a 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 Pro (18-core CPU, 20-core GPU, 64GB RAM, 2TB SSD) through Apple’s Education Store for approximately £4200. It’ll be my first Mac and my main personal computer, primarily for developing an iOS/cross-platform mobile app using Xcode, SwiftUI, VS Code, Figma, simulators and backend tools, with my iPhone 12 Pro for physical device testing. I’m hoping to keep it for at least 5–7 years. Would this configuration be sensible for running multiple development tools simultaneously, or am I overspending on RAM and storage? Also, with rumours of new MacBooks coming soon, would you buy now or wait? Interested to hear from developers using similar setups.

Im a junior software engineer who turned lately part-time since I joined masters degree in AI, do have a dated MacBook mid2020 core-i5 13’
and reluctant between two used MacBook pros I’ve been offered
Both come with 14’ displays and 512GB but here are the differences:
the first comes with an M2 chip, 32GB RAM and 95% battery health,
meanwhile the second has m4 chip, 24GB RAM and 100% battery health (almost new),
the price difference will be 400$ (for m4 obviously) in my country so I’m reluctant upon which to pick especially because of the ram of the second and it possibly not being enough…

my usage would be for study, research , fine tuning models and making ai applications here and there..
Training heavy models mostly will be done on the cloud
And in development I work AI powered with help of Claude , Claud design, higgsfield ,ChatGpt(codex)

Hello family. I’m looking for a MacBook so I can work away from home, and I’m torn between these two options. In my country, the prices are:

• M5 with 16GB RAM — $1,800
• M5 Pro with 24GB RAM — $3,000

I currently use a Mac mini M4 Pro with 24GB RAM, and it handles my workflow really well. My typical workload includes:

• 10+ Safari tabs open
• Photo editing, video editing, and vector work (Photoshop, illustrator, Premier pro)
• Architectural and structural 3D modeling and rendering (Cinema 4D)
• ChatGPT Astra and Claude Opus

The MacBook would complement my Mac mini and give me the flexibility to work outside the house.

My main question is whether the M5 Pro is worth the extra $1,200 for this kind of workload. Would the base M5 with 16GB be comfortable enough, or would I feel a noticeable step down from my current setup when multitasking?

I’d love to hear from anyone using either configuration for similar work. Would you save the money or pay more for the Pro?

I've used an M5 Pro with the same specs through work, so I know how fast it is, but the price is hard to justify right now.

I have a 2001 M1 Pro Macbook Pro, recently a very small fly, (as in the sort that come out of the wheat near harvest time) has found it's way behind the screen glass.

Now I thought these should 'hermetically' sealed and such things were impossible? Main question is: am I likely to get any redress from Apple? If not is there an economical way to get repaired in UK?

Hi I have the MacBook in the title, but under heavy load the battery discharges itself from 80 , to 78 , I use the cable given in the box and an anker 140 w power brick so it can easily support the Mac but still the battery discharges itself under big loads
Any tips ?

I have an option between macboon m1 pro 16/512 and m3 air 16/512. Which should I choose. I am a CS student and I do freelancing related to web apps and on the side I like to dabble with LLMs as well. What do you guys think is the better option?
