For me, it’s music. Bear with me.. I know.. it’s hard to imagine music sounding better when you’ve not consumed cannabis for a few weeks. But it truly does feel different, cleaner, like I can feel the natural dopamine coursing through my brain. Man, for the love of music..
What feels much better now that you don’t smoke/consume MJ?
Update/edit: this was the absolute best to read. Should we do this every week??
Top slaps that slap so much harder without cannabis:
Food (Doritos, cheese.. whatever you loved before gets 1000x better)
Leaving the house (is actually fun!)
No guilt/shame spirals
No more self-isolating to get high
Confidence increased
Trusting in yourself again
Saving money, more than we thought
Relationships improved (almost every single one)
Reading and yoga became enjoyable again
Creativity and motivation returned
Memory improved
Passing the Leaft baton on to someone who commented one of the above- this is helpful, let’s keep it up!

I am about 15 days free.
I legit wake up and am like “omg is that me?” AND IT IS. WHY AM I SO SMELLY?!
I like to think I’m overall a clean person. But literally since I quit I smell SO bad. Obviously a shower clears it up but DAMN.
When I quit vaping (1 yr free 🤗) This did not happen…..
Is this normal?

I am on day 14 completely cannabis free after smoking daily for over 15 years. I gradually tapered all summer to get to this point but have been experiencing the worst depression of my life, even during the taper. I can't even express how bad it's gotten. My mind has been a very dark place and doing anything at all has been difficult. I have totally isolated myself and barely leave my bed. Does this pass? Has anyone else experienced this? Will I ever feel "normal" again?

13 days into sobriety I find out my brother stole my mom’s car, crashed it into a parked car and abandoned it completely totaled. A week and a half ago I found this bum sleeping on my couch and tossed him out on his ear. I didn’t know why he was on my couch at the time as I was already estranged from him and didn’t want to hear whatever pathetic excuse he had for trespassing into my home. He then of course spits on me as I’m throwing him out threatening to physically harm me the next time he sees me.
Today I confront him after finding out what he’s done and again he threatens physical violence.
Instead of buying joints, I went to the courthouse and filled out the requisite paperwork to have a restraining order placed on him.
Fuck him and his sociopathic piece of shit ass but I’m still going to maintain my sobriety. I’m not letting a useless speck of garbage ruin the progress that I’ve made.

About a half year ago i stopped viewing porn. My wife was fine with it, but it really is garbage. It was getting more difficult to perform in the bedroom because of it.
Exactly 7 days ago i quit weed. There have been withdrawal symptoms like insomnia and my restless legs syndrome really bad, but I'm working thru it. What has really sucked is I'm back to watching porn. It's like my brain can only handle giving up one vice at a time. Anyone had any similar issues?
Please don't throw shade if porn offends you. I get it and I'm not proud of it. I personally don't want either weed or porn in my life. Just looking to see if I'm alone in this balancing act.
Thank you.

Smoked hard for 10 years. I’ve tried to quit many times and never made it past 90 days. I finally broke my record and don’t plan on ever going back.
What’s helped me the most therapy to address why I was smoking in the first place (turns out I have a lot of unhealthy thought patterns - catastrophizing, unfair comparisons, high stakes thinking, fantasy/should statements). Addressing these and finding healthier thought patterns has helped me a lot.
This sub has helped me a lot so thank you all!
Can’t deny the facts, I’m smarter, sharper, better at my job, stronger in my relationship, sexually more virile, motivated to better myself in every area. STICK WITH IT

Haven't smoked in 64 days. I used to be a nighttime smoker. After my day wrapped, there was nothing better than a joint. I didn't really intend to stop, it was more that I went on vacation to Italy and couldn't smoke there, and then got a really bad flu when I came home, so I didn't want to smoke then, either. Then, next thing I know, it's been a month and I hadn't smoked. But as I returned to my normal routine, the desire returned, but I thought I'd see how long I could go.
I have a crazy packed day today. 7am - 10pm of just *stuff*, including work, exercise classes, and I've hired someone to help me with a passion project. Even when I was smoking, I tended to be pretty active and involved. But that activity and involvement would reliably stop around 6pm.
When I was smoking, I'd get so much more anxiety throughout the day about whether I'd get things done, that I didn't have time, that time was running out. Now, I just have all of this extra time.
I couldn't fit in exercise today because of how crammed I am with other stuff, but I know I can go to the gym/do a workout class at 8pm and I won't bail. I know that even after that, I could take my laptop out and finish some stuff I didn't get done today. It's like I have a whole extra day that happens from 5:30pm-10:30pm. And because of that, my self esteem is so much higher and I really don't struggle with anxiety anymore.
Life is soooooo much better and more juicy on the other side, guys. You can do it all!!!!

I’m 27f and went to rehab for drinking 2 years ago. i’ve been mostly alcohol free since then but still struggle a lot, with not just alcohol but just debilitating depression I’ve had my whole life. I’ve been still smoking weed daily since I quit drinking.
Now I am 2 days weed free, totally sober. I’m not loving it but really, really hoping that this will be some key to unlocking my capacity for life. Anyone else gone through a similar time? Had good results? Please encourage a girl to keep going. Life is hard.

For the last 8 years I’ve (31 F) been high basically all day every day. I wake up and go to the gym but immediately after I smoke. I take a weed pen with me to work and smoke it throughout the day. I come home and smoke or take dabs until I go to sleep. I don’t drink alcohol so when I go out in social situations I bring my weed pen. I smoke to run errands, to relax, to do pretty much anything. I’ve realized that I’ve become paranoid, distant from others and I have an extremely hard time being social and attentive.
I need to stop not only to improve my relationships but I feel like I don’t really know myself. I know the version of me who is always high but I want to figure out who I am without the crutch of weed.
It’s only been two days and so far the hardest part is the stomach aches and irritability. I carry all of my stress and anxiety in my stomach. One of the reasons I started smoking in the morning was due to waking up with knots in my stomach and no explanation. The weed would usually settle the knots. Now they’re back and it’s so bad that I can’t even eat in the morning. I find myself quick to irritation as well. Overall I’m having a hard time remaining calm and I know the morning are going to be really tough.
Any advice from someone who’s been there and had similar side effects would be comforting. Also any tips on how to make this process easier?

Hi all,
I’ve had a THC addiction problem for all of my teenage years and adult life. I started at 13 and just turned 30 back in May. In all those years I’ve only had a couple stretches of sobriety, one for 3 months in 2022, another for 6 months from the end of 2024 through mid 2025. On my last attempt I was feeling pretty decent about things but talked myself into a relapse that ended up impacting another year of my life. I’m now on day 49 of my renewed quitting journey and have experienced some great benefits, but still feel like I’m missing so much…
Benefits:
Much more resiliency to deal with problems that arise in my life
Anxiety is greatly reduced
Feeling connected on a spiritual level again
Better relationships with my wife, family, coworkers
Saving a ton of money (was spending $150 a week)
Detriments:
The biggest is that I am still experiencing massive brain fog, which is unfortunate as I work in a sector where memory/retention and quick problem solving is key. I just feel like I’ve lost so much of the wit and intelligence I had as a kid, which kills me inside.
Derealization and depersonalization, constantly feeling like I’m just barely running my brain
Pure exhaustion/fatigue, especially on the weekends and after work
Can anyone relate? More than anything I just want my brain back. I know I’m early on in the journey, but even on my last 6 month attempt I wasn’t getting where I thought I would be by that time in terms of mental acuity and general energy levels. Although I also understand even 6 months is dwarfed when you consider how long I’ve been using (17 years).
Thanks for reading.

21f, I currently have an ultimatum in which I feel like I can’t get sober until I recover from my eating disorder, but I am finding it near impossible to do that.
For context, I’ve dealt with lifelong anorexia , physical health has really taken a tumble over the last two years as a result, leading to several hospital admissions. I’m engaging with ongoing therapy and other services as I am desperate to recover and so sick of living like this
Adjacently, I’ve been recreationally smoking pot for ~3 yrs, daily for about 2. Still reasonably ‘controlled’ usage (1-1.5g a day, mostly evening) but regardless. A combination of marijuana and my existing eating disorder have absolutely obliterated my appetite. Smoking eases the feeling of food in my stomach and makes me slightly hungry (I don’t even get proper munchies) Whenever I try to cut down smoking, I inevitably fall back into a cycle of reduced intake.
Do I just need to commit to being a stoner while I recover ? Has anyone ever dealt with this before ????
I would just tough it out and go through the withdrawals but my physical health is too fragile to risk any further increase in stress or reduction in energy intake
I know to some this might sound like an ‘excuse’ for not getting sober but I can assure you it’s anything but :/ I want to be rid of both of these things asap

trying to seriously quit after decades. I’m pretty terrible at say no to cravings- especially when stressed/frustrated, so I was wondering what helps you all. thanks in advance.

Apparently day 4 is the peak day for feeling anger as CB1 receptors reset. I sure felt it! I have a lot to be stressed out about at this point in my life. Only problem is, while I was waking and baking every day, wasn't doing much to take care of what was in my control.
Once I reminded myself that I CAN'T bury my head in the sand, or fog up my brain anymore, I cooled down a bit and the craving went away.
Shwew, close one!

I have been trying to quit cannabis (near daily use for 15+ years) over this past year with varying degrees of success. The longest I have made it is a couple of months but overall this past year I have been off it more than on it. Alcohol has never been my drug of choice but I do use it socially and sometimes other times to take an edge off. I am a woman in my mid 40s, so more often than not it impacts my sleep and makes me incredibly anxious the next day if have more than a couple of drinks which in turn makes me want cannabis. But I continue to use it as I feel somewhat of a social pressure and also, quite honestly, it is nice to sometimes feel different than your reality. But I can’t help but feel that the way that booze affects me is what is causing my cannabis relapses.
Anyone else struggle with that? Am I fooling myself by thinking that I can continue to use alcohol and stay off cannabis?

31 male have been a daily smoker since around 14 or 15.
I'm just now finishing my first week without smoking for the most part, I smoked maybe twice since the initial stop directly before bed.
My day to day is for the last decade or so has been to smoke as soon as I get off work around 2om and smoke all the way up until I go to bed .
For the most part it feels good, I don't necessarily feel the need to smoke, it's been rather easy to just not. Like it's not like trying to quit nicotine (that's a different mountain to climb) where I'm constantly thinking about it or anything like that. My main concern/observation though is that I've become incredibly anxious and insecure in relationship since stopping. I have done a lot of therapy the last couple years for my anxiety and I've been really good with it since stopping therapy a year or so ago but I feel as though I've completely regressed.
I've been in a very stable and meaningful relationship for almost two years now and it wasn't until I stopped smoking weed that I've become incredibly insecure and feeling crazy. Like obsessive and delusional. I'm very aware that my thoughts are not facts, they're not built on any truth, they exist as delusions that I can separate from reality knowing that it's got a lot to do with this major change in habit.
She has never ever ever given me a reason to distrust her or feel like she's hiding something or falling out of love with me.
Still I find my mind racing now, checking in to see if she read my texts, overanalyzing every little thing, I've even had thoughts about driving past her house when she doesn't respond which I fucking hate. That is not who I am. I feel disgusting even having those thoughts.
We've always did our own things and had our own sense of independence in how we spend our off time. For example I could spend the entire day in the studio painting or playing video games and not text her back for hours (and vice versa) and that has never been a problem. We both understand that we have our hobbies and value our alone time, we don't have to spend every moment together or in contact and that's never been an issue.
I've brought it up to her and she's given me reassurance and has eased my anxieties about it but as soon as I'm not with her, it's like a complete reset back to these anxieties and insecurities.
She shouldn't have to deal with having to constantly reassure me, that's just not fair. Still I can't help but dwell and sit in these feelings.
I know it will eventually even out once I get back into a routine get used to not being stoned all the time but this just absolutely sucks in every sense of the meaning. I don't feel good about myself or the way I think right now.
I was wondering if anyone else has felt this way and how they coped with these feelings and for how long they lasted until they felt a sense of normalcy again.

23 years old. Had to quit smoking weed daily as it was progressively making things worse and worse for me across the board, worst of all feeling like I was on a path to schizophrenia. Luckily, those symptoms have almost completely subsided since quitting. Though I am having really tough cravings at the moment and have been turning to other substances. Never been drunk or even buzzed in my life before a few nights ago and I've been picking up nicotine again slowly. I refuse to let myself make alcohol a regular thing as I've watched it ruin those close to me. Can't act like junk food and porn aren't also contributing. How do I keep myself on a sober and less-dopamine-seeking path despite constantly feeling the need for something to fill the void? Need a bit of motivation here and being with friends & social settings only encourages me to do worse for myself, unfortunately. Feeling stuck.

I’ve posted here so many times over the years and keep going back. went 6 years everyday until I had an episode and tripped out and couldn’t handle it anymore. quit for 6 months and repllapsed because I thought I could control it again. smoked everyday again for a year until anxiety issues came back. quit for 3 months and now I’ve been smoking everyday again for a month. And now anxiety back crying every time and depression at it’s worse. I know what I need to do and you would think since I know I can feel so good without it I should feel excited but I’m scared to leave it because it’s been a part of me forever. Need advice or if anyone knows what I can do to help myself pls let me know

I quit caffeine at the same time, mainly because caffeine acts on your adrenals similiar to weed,, greatly reduced my need for nicotine pouches, I was reading about what heavy use does to the hypothalamus and that was what started me down the rabbit hole, The thing that cause me to first question if this rosin was an issue was how I observed other heavy users treat others, heavy users constantly get offended by the smallest of things and you have to walk on eggshells around them, That made me reflect and ask myself, could I be more kind to others if you are not using? The first week was rough not gonna lie, but I have no desire to use on a routine basis and will never purchase again, I'll update you on my journey if it helps any other rosin users, the terps are hard to give up but you can do it, proper daily hydration for the night sweats is key!

I’ve decided to quit weed carts 4 days ago cold turkey unexpectedly but I’m having a hard time on my fourth day. The urge to take a hit or even have a gummy is making me pull my hair.
I threw out anything that made me even think of taking a hit but It’s very hard for me to fall asleep and I have barely eaten the past couple days. I’m going to the gym and keeping my self busy but it does not help much.
I know it gets better after time but if anyone has any advice of what to do to make that time pass a little easier, I would be grateful so so so much.
I have no one to talk to about this, I’m turning to this page for any advice I can get, any advice is very appreciated :)

After daily cannabis use for almost 15 years, I think it may have finally lost its usefulness for me. I keep telling myself Monday will be the day I quit but I always seem to rip my bong in AM.
I’m looking for advice and tips for getting started with sobriety and what to expect.
TIA
Has anyone been a smoker for a verrrry long time...35 years daily....and quit?

Hi all, recently quit smoking weed. Light user just a puff or two at night but for 10 years. Since I’ve quit I find myself feeling lightheaded and dizzy with fatigue throughout the day. Is this something others have experienced? Usually it feels minor but will have big waves of dizziness and nausea from time to time.
