Visual impairment, loss of appetite, hair loss,No more joy

• Upvotes

Does anyone still have visual impairment after quitting and when you look at the sky like a swarm of mosquitoes?

And after 3 months no joy and no appetite

And hair loss but I don’t know if it’s related to it but in terms of period of time it fits

does extreme rationing help the eventual complete stop?

I only smoke 2 or 3 times a day now in the evenings and its in the form of tiny pinners with about 1 part weed to 2 or 3 parts tobacco. Been doing this for a week and dont notice any major withdrawal symptoms and I feel less burned out.
Also doing this in conjunction with getting out of the house now and going for walks or having a coffee or tea at the local Starbucks. I feel like isolating myself put me in more of a head space that would crave being high.

Just wanted to hear from anyone who has adopted a similar method and whether or not you had any sever symptoms when you finally ran out and stopped resupplying.
Im also trying to quit drinking which is why I haven't fully tackled my weed situation just yet.

Quit 3 weeks ago. All good until it wasn’t.

Sleep improved amazingly, so did my skin texture. But for the past two days depression hit me hard. I’m a runner and i thought that would help me, but obviously it’s not enough. Enrolled to a gym and will start lifting tomorrow, so hopefully that will help too. But this depression is taking a toll on my family. How long this is going to last ? 53 years old athletic man, husband and father, the kind of guy nobody would ever suspect as a THC user. I’m pretty serious on all sort of supplements too, vitamins, minerals, whey. I was helping my son with homeworks an hour ago and I’ve visualized my suicide, it fucking sucks….

I am about 15 days free.
I legit wake up and am like “omg is that me?” AND IT IS. WHY AM I SO SMELLY?!
I like to think I’m overall a clean person. But literally since I quit I smell SO bad. Obviously a shower clears it up but DAMN.
When I quit vaping (1 yr free 🤗) This did not happen…..

Is this normal?

Trying to balance sobriety and anorexia recovery

21f, I currently have an ultimatum in which I feel like I can’t get sober until I recover from my eating disorder, but I am finding it near impossible to do that.
For context, I’ve dealt with lifelong anorexia , physical health has really taken a tumble over the last two years as a result, leading to several hospital admissions. I’m engaging with ongoing therapy and other services as I am desperate to recover and so sick of living like this
Adjacently, I’ve been recreationally smoking pot for ~3 yrs, daily for about 2. Still reasonably ‘controlled’ usage (1-1.5g a day, mostly evening) but regardless. A combination of marijuana and my existing eating disorder have absolutely obliterated my appetite. Smoking eases the feeling of food in my stomach and makes me slightly hungry (I don’t even get proper munchies) Whenever I try to cut down smoking, I inevitably fall back into a cycle of reduced intake.

Do I just need to commit to being a stoner while I recover ? Has anyone ever dealt with this before ????

I would just tough it out and go through the withdrawals but my physical health is too fragile to risk any further increase in stress or reduction in energy intake

I know to some this might sound like an ‘excuse’ for not getting sober but I can assure you it’s anything but :/ I want to be rid of both of these things asap

No more complying. Please, PLEASE stop fucking encouraging people to comply with these weed laws

I almost cracked today

13 days into sobriety I find out my brother stole my mom’s car, crashed it into a parked car and abandoned it completely totaled. A week and a half ago I found this bum sleeping on my couch and tossed him out on his ear. I didn’t know why he was on my couch at the time as I was already estranged from him and didn’t want to hear whatever pathetic excuse he had for trespassing into my home. He then of course spits on me as I’m throwing him out threatening to physically harm me the next time he sees me.

Today I confront him after finding out what he’s done and again he threatens physical violence.

Instead of buying joints, I went to the courthouse and filled out the requisite paperwork to have a restraining order placed on him.

Fuck him and his sociopathic piece of shit ass but I’m still going to maintain my sobriety. I’m not letting a useless speck of garbage ruin the progress that I’ve made.

Quitting after 8 years of constant daily use. Tips and advice?

For the last 8 years I’ve (31 F) been high basically all day every day. I wake up and go to the gym but immediately after I smoke. I take a weed pen with me to work and smoke it throughout the day. I come home and smoke or take dabs until I go to sleep. I don’t drink alcohol so when I go out in social situations I bring my weed pen. I smoke to run errands, to relax, to do pretty much anything. I’ve realized that I’ve become paranoid, distant from others and I have an extremely hard time being social and attentive.

I need to stop not only to improve my relationships but I feel like I don’t really know myself. I know the version of me who is always high but I want to figure out who I am without the crutch of weed.

It’s only been two days and so far the hardest part is the stomach aches and irritability. I carry all of my stress and anxiety in my stomach. One of the reasons I started smoking in the morning was due to waking up with knots in my stomach and no explanation. The weed would usually settle the knots. Now they’re back and it’s so bad that I can’t even eat in the morning. I find myself quick to irritation as well. Overall I’m having a hard time remaining calm and I know the morning are going to be really tough.

Any advice from someone who’s been there and had similar side effects would be comforting. Also any tips on how to make this process easier?

I think I was terrified of nighttime. Now I look forward to it.

Haven't smoked in 64 days. I used to be a nighttime smoker. After my day wrapped, there was nothing better than a joint. I didn't really intend to stop, it was more that I went on vacation to Italy and couldn't smoke there, and then got a really bad flu when I came home, so I didn't want to smoke then, either. Then, next thing I know, it's been a month and I hadn't smoked. But as I returned to my normal routine, the desire returned, but I thought I'd see how long I could go.

I have a crazy packed day today. 7am - 10pm of just *stuff*, including work, exercise classes, and I've hired someone to help me with a passion project. Even when I was smoking, I tended to be pretty active and involved. But that activity and involvement would reliably stop around 6pm.

When I was smoking, I'd get so much more anxiety throughout the day about whether I'd get things done, that I didn't have time, that time was running out. Now, I just have all of this extra time.

I couldn't fit in exercise today because of how crammed I am with other stuff, but I know I can go to the gym/do a workout class at 8pm and I won't bail. I know that even after that, I could take my laptop out and finish some stuff I didn't get done today. It's like I have a whole extra day that happens from 5:30pm-10:30pm. And because of that, my self esteem is so much higher and I really don't struggle with anxiety anymore.

Life is soooooo much better and more juicy on the other side, guys. You can do it all!!!!

Quitting weed after 15 years of daily use. I feel incredibly insecure and crazy.

31 male have been a daily smoker since around 14 or 15.

I'm just now finishing my first week without smoking for the most part, I smoked maybe twice since the initial stop directly before bed.

My day to day is for the last decade or so has been to smoke as soon as I get off work around 2om and smoke all the way up until I go to bed .

For the most part it feels good, I don't necessarily feel the need to smoke, it's been rather easy to just not. Like it's not like trying to quit nicotine (that's a different mountain to climb) where I'm constantly thinking about it or anything like that. My main concern/observation though is that I've become incredibly anxious and insecure in relationship since stopping. I have done a lot of therapy the last couple years for my anxiety and I've been really good with it since stopping therapy a year or so ago but I feel as though I've completely regressed.

I've been in a very stable and meaningful relationship for almost two years now and it wasn't until I stopped smoking weed that I've become incredibly insecure and feeling crazy. Like obsessive and delusional. I'm very aware that my thoughts are not facts, they're not built on any truth, they exist as delusions that I can separate from reality knowing that it's got a lot to do with this major change in habit.

She has never ever ever given me a reason to distrust her or feel like she's hiding something or falling out of love with me.

Still I find my mind racing now, checking in to see if she read my texts, overanalyzing every little thing, I've even had thoughts about driving past her house when she doesn't respond which I fucking hate. That is not who I am. I feel disgusting even having those thoughts.

We've always did our own things and had our own sense of independence in how we spend our off time. For example I could spend the entire day in the studio painting or playing video games and not text her back for hours (and vice versa) and that has never been a problem. We both understand that we have our hobbies and value our alone time, we don't have to spend every moment together or in contact and that's never been an issue.

I've brought it up to her and she's given me reassurance and has eased my anxieties about it but as soon as I'm not with her, it's like a complete reset back to these anxieties and insecurities.

She shouldn't have to deal with having to constantly reassure me, that's just not fair. Still I can't help but dwell and sit in these feelings.

I know it will eventually even out once I get back into a routine get used to not being stoned all the time but this just absolutely sucks in every sense of the meaning. I don't feel good about myself or the way I think right now.

I was wondering if anyone else has felt this way and how they coped with these feelings and for how long they lasted until they felt a sense of normalcy again.

Day 10 sober, no serious sleep issues so far - Am I in the clear?

After 7 years of daily smoking (with a few forced breaks in-between which lasted a week at the most) I quit cold turkey 10 days ago.

There are some nuances - I did gradually lower the amount I smoked a day over the past 6 months, generally I didn't enjoy smoking as much anymore, am in ongoing therapy and I have a very supporting circle aiding in my quitting.

In any case my withdrawal is way less severe than my previous breaks, with sleep being a little fucky in the first 3 days but never to the extent of not sleeping at all during the night.

Now I'm still bracing for insomnia pretty much every night, but I wonder whether I can stop worrying about that. Has anyone had a similar experience, and had sleep issues after the initial 2 weeks?

Day one after 5 yrs of smoking

So, I got drunk so I can sleep but after waking up all messed up and drinking a coffee and eating a sandwitch, I already feel a bit more aware and present. Not sure if that works so fast or if it's placebo, but it feels better.

I decided to stop cold turkey because my depression and anxiety were getting worse.

Just found this sub and it's really motivational. Wish me luck.

Edit: The drinking was just the one off. Won't continue doing that.

Quitting weed carts

I’ve decided to quit weed carts 4 days ago cold turkey unexpectedly but I’m having a hard time on my fourth day. The urge to take a hit or even have a gummy is making me pull my hair.

I threw out anything that made me even think of taking a hit but It’s very hard for me to fall asleep and I have barely eaten the past couple days. I’m going to the gym and keeping my self busy but it does not help much.

I know it gets better after time but if anyone has any advice of what to do to make that time pass a little easier, I would be grateful so so so much.

I have no one to talk to about this, I’m turning to this page for any advice I can get, any advice is very appreciated :)

One of the main reasons I'm afraid to quit forever is I feel like I won't be able to handle my trauma and my emotions.

I have done multiple 2-4 month sober periods and I end up feeling normal and great. But in the back of my mind, I feel like I can't truly remove it as an option forever because I feel like something will happen and I will need it. It feels like I'll always want it as an emergency backup. How did you get through this?

struggling to find the motivation to quit

i started smoking around the end of last year because it was my friends who got me into it and it was great for a bit but my life just spiralled downwards after i put weed over my family and myself i didn’t care how it was affecting my mental and physical health i had a bacterial chest infection and i was still ripping bongs everyday. i have AUDHD and a family history of substance abuse im also under 25, for some reason i thought i would just be immune to the side effects it has on an undeveloped brain but i wasnt and im able to notice all the slight to drastic changes in my mood and overall being.

ive tried quitting before but i keep going back to it like i genuinely got expelled from my old school because i was caught with it and i kept going back to it i didnt care and i dont know how to get through this i struggle immensely with motivation to do normal daily things let alone quit weed. any advice is greatly appreciated.

Day 1 after relapse

I’m a “chronic relapser”. I’m not sure if I could say I’ll ever be able to never pick up a joint again ever in my life. I do know that after a 4 day bender of getting high, I was left feeling like complete shit. Today was HORRIBLE. I missed my law school class this morning because I literally just couldn’t get out of bed. I’ve got a mad headache and I’m so on the edge. For the love of G-d, do your best to not relapse. And if you do, keep coming back!

Day 1 again/sleep advice!

Already posted a big comment a few posts ago about this, probably came off high and mighty. I’m not anymore. Insomnia is so bad the first few nights I can’t take it. I stayed up all night just laying and dreading the thought of trying to get tired. Getting tired is tiring. I’m not tired whatsoever and it’s 11 pm. I’m definitely tweaking and manic just from no sleep and first day off, but just wanted to know if any of y’all have found a good method for falling asleep in the past when you quit. Any tips would be nice, thanks!

Need Help - 20 Days Weed-Free After 9 Years of Daily Use

23 years old. Had to quit smoking weed daily as it was progressively making things worse and worse for me across the board, worst of all feeling like I was on a path to schizophrenia. Luckily, those symptoms have almost completely subsided since quitting. Though I am having really tough cravings at the moment and have been turning to other substances. Never been drunk or even buzzed in my life before a few nights ago and I've been picking up nicotine again slowly. I refuse to let myself make alcohol a regular thing as I've watched it ruin those close to me. Can't act like junk food and porn aren't also contributing. How do I keep myself on a sober and less-dopamine-seeking path despite constantly feeling the need for something to fill the void? Need a bit of motivation here and being with friends & social settings only encourages me to do worse for myself, unfortunately. Feeling stuck.

30M, 15 years of daily cannabis. Day 1 of 14 days cold turkey. What do you tell yourself when the craving peaks?

I’m 30, almost 31, and I’ve smoked cannabis every day for the last 15 years. A few days ago I decided I’m done, at least for now. I’m down to my last two joints. I’m thinking about throwing them away, but I know myself, I’ll probably smoke them.

I’ve tried to quit or cut down before and it never stuck, so this time I’m going 14 days completely cold turkey and will see where I stand after that.

For most of those years I smoked weed. In the last few months I switched to hash, which is smoother and roughly halved how much I smoke. My recent trips to Morocco made me realize I don’t even like weed that much anymore. Now even hash doesn’t taste as good as it used to, and it’s the same feeling I had when I decided to quit weed. It feels like a real mental shift, not a passing mood.

From the outside, my life looks fine. I have a good job, I’m married, I have a nice car, I’m active, and I’ve run marathons. My social life isn’t affected.

But inside, it’s a different story. I have ADHD (high functioning), a difficult childhood with no father figure and a depressed mom, and a lot more that I keep buried. Weed kept it buried because I couldn’t cope otherwise. It was self-medication at the highest level. With my ADHD it balanced me out: more confidence, less stress, no more crying at night, just sleep. It let me make real friends and think deeper. In the last few years it mostly hid a constant depression after more recent painful events. My use has become excessive and I can’t justify it anymore.

for he first time in my life, it’s holding me back from how far I want to go in life. I have a golden rule with it, as long as I can enjoy what I set my mind on, I don't see an issue with it. But now, the money I spend on it genuinely disgusts me and the time I lose also. I’m not poor and I’m doing well for my age, but I could be doing a lot better. It’s a real wake-up call. I need the brain space more than I need to zone out, now that I have a day job and am building a company from the ground up.

I don’t want to wake up at 55 or 60 and realize I threw away decades smoking every day instead of occasionally.

I already have running and meditation. What I’m looking for is the mental side:

  • What do you say to yourself when the craving hits its peak?
  • What reminders or reasons actually got you through the hardest moments?
  • For those who used weed to cope with ADHD or depression, how did you handle what came back up?
  • What do you wish you’d known in the first two weeks?

Thanks for reading. Any experience, whether you quit for good or moderated, is welcome.

(PS: I guess it's part of turning 30, maturing and getting older. I know I need to be more conscious and that my wilder 20's are over haha. I would like to be an occasional smoker one day but I know myself, I'd rather not think too much about it right now it's just sushing my demons... it would only be possible if I have no contact with supplier and no stash at home. I don't live close enough to any of my friends and I have at home delivery. I already deleted his contact details, no worries. haha)

Dizziness after quitting

Hi all, recently quit smoking weed. Light user just a puff or two at night but for 10 years. Since I’ve quit I find myself feeling lightheaded and dizzy with fatigue throughout the day. Is this something others have experienced? Usually it feels minor but will have big waves of dizziness and nausea from time to time.

Finally mustering the courage to throw away my vape

This morning I threw away my weed pen. Ive been smoking daily since January and I figured that it was finally time. I was driving to work and just threw it out the window…yeah I know littering like that is bad, but idk how many times I threw it away in the garbage only to try and fish it out later. When I threw it, I had a moment where I felt finally “free”, but the regrets are starting to come. I’m at the library to pass the time and do some reading, but I’m mostly afraid of tonight. I don’t usually pray (or appeal to any higher power), but it’s something I want to try. “Give me tonight my daily bread”. Anyways, here’s to trying again and I hope you all sleep well tonight.
