Mannion/Smucker Debate on Friday - Live Stream

PA-11 candidate Nurse Nancy Mannion will debate 10-year Rep. Lloyd Smucker this Friday (10/23) from 4-5:30pm. Tickets are already sold out for the live event, but it will also be live-streamed so mark your calendars to tune in!

Lloyd Smucker almost never shows his face in person unless it's a fundraiser event, and he doesn't meet with most constituents. Lloyd is also a member of the Ways & Means Committee helping to shape the ways in which your money is spent.

10 years in - how is Lloyd serving you?

Happening Rocky Horror Picture Show @ Tellus

• Upvotes

Just here to plug RHPS at Tellus360 this Saturday!

The host is a friend of mine who has been doing an annual screening around the city for years, purely for the love of the game. He's put a lot of time, energy and his own money into making these screenings happen.

There are a lot of opportunities to see RHPS around the area this year, which is great, but unfortunately another screening is now happening the same night potentially putting this one in a bit of a tough spot.

If you've been thinking about going, I'd love for you to choose this one! It's a really fun night, and worth showing up to support someone who's put a lot into creating this experience for our community.

Angus Antiques - Ironspire Complex

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’m thinking of taking my in laws antiquing in Adamstown this weekend and was sad to hear Angus Antiques closed down. I went with my wife 2 years ago and we felt they had a great higher end selection that my in laws would love.

Does anyone know of other spots in the area with a similar high end vibe?

Takeout tipping ridiculousness

More of a rant - I understand the point of sale tipping feature is everywhere nowadays but when they turn that around and the minimum is 20 percent up to 30 percent for a takeout order, I feel like you should be called out.

Looking at you Cavolo in lititz and a couple of merchants in southern market.

Organic produce/meat farms stands in Lancaster county?

I’m finding it harder and harder to source organic produce locally. I do have a meat supplier, but I’d like to find somewhere I can get produce and meat if possible. I’m willing to drive just about anywhere in the county.

Pain/fibromyalgia clinics in the area?

I just got hit with 2 chronic pain condition diagnoses last week and my rheumatologist suggested looking into the LGH Pain Management clinic. Has anyone been there? What was your experience if you're willing to share? Are there better pain management clinics within a 20 minute drive from the city? Thank you.

Best beginner sports leagues in Lancaster County?

Hi all,

I’m looking to get into a sport as an adult beginner and figured this would be a good place to ask.

I’m in Lancaster County and open to pretty much anything: rec leagues, pickup games, run clubs, volleyball, soccer, softball, pickleball, disc golf, whatever. I’m not trying to be ultra-competitive right away, just looking for something welcoming where a newer person won’t feel totally out of place.

Does anyone know of beginner-friendly leagues, clubs, or regular meetups in Lancaster City or out in the county? Bonus points if it’s social and easy to join without already knowing a team.

Appreciate any recommendations.

Nail salon or Nail tech help ):

Hello!

Does anyone have any recommendations for nail techs that are non judgmental? I’m super insecure about getting my feet touched and I have not gotten a pedicure done in YEARS.

I’m anxious and scared that after gathering the courage to do something nice for myself, I will get a weird look or a side eye and that will backtrack my progress…

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Class Based Gyms

Throw me your favorite class based gyms!

- looking for classes minimally 3x a week, aiming for consistent morning hours. Ideally would offer classes/ open gym hours but not a deal breaker if no open gym.

- a mixture of cardio / lifting or HIIT. **I am NOT interested in CrossFit, no shade, just not for me yall!

- newer to Lancaster city and looking to build community within the gym 🙂

I am 31F, previous D1 athlete, completed 3 half marathons, 1 sprint tri and other similar races. I’ve worked with a trainer and done the solo gym thing for the past few years and have had a terribly tough time motivating myself and haven’t quite found consistency. I’ve previously done class based gyms, and enjoyed them much more because of the community aspect. Finally ready to make the switch to a class based community after settling down in Lanc City!

I am looking for moderate / high intensity classes with trainers that will push me and a community that will motivate.

Thanks!

Basement finishing

Recently our basement flooded, so we got it waterproofed and unfortunately this meant ripping the flooring and drywall out. We're looking to get it redone now. Anyone have any suggestions for companies to reach out to to get a quote?

Toddler trick or treat / Halloween events

Hello! I am looking for Halloween-themed events I can take my 16-month-old niece to during the week. Because of her bedtime, it's been hard to find events during the day or early evening. Does anyone have suggestions? I'm seeing a lot for the weekend, but would also like to take her during the week! I checked the local libraries and the Lancaster Online sites, but nothing seems doable for her age.

Thanks in advance!
