Hi all,

I’m looking to get into a sport as an adult beginner and figured this would be a good place to ask.

I’m in Lancaster County and open to pretty much anything: rec leagues, pickup games, run clubs, volleyball, soccer, softball, pickleball, disc golf, whatever. I’m not trying to be ultra-competitive right away, just looking for something welcoming where a newer person won’t feel totally out of place.

Does anyone know of beginner-friendly leagues, clubs, or regular meetups in Lancaster City or out in the county? Bonus points if it’s social and easy to join without already knowing a team.

Appreciate any recommendations.

More of a rant - I understand the point of sale tipping feature is everywhere nowadays but when they turn that around and the minimum is 20 percent up to 30 percent for a takeout order, I feel like you should be called out.

Trying to plan an outing for my birthday Nov 7th (my actual bday is Nov 1st but that’s Halloween weekend) and am trying to think of places to go, things to do, I want to try and avoid places like Tellus, Marion, Yorgo’s because those are the obvious places to go and party. - looking for classes minimally 3x a week, aiming for consistent morning hours. Ideally would offer classes/ open gym hours but not a deal breaker if no open gym.

- a mixture of cardio / lifting or HIIT. **I am NOT interested in CrossFit, no shade, just not for me yall!

- newer to Lancaster city and looking to build community within the gym 🙂

I am 31F, previous D1 athlete, completed 3 half marathons, 1 sprint tri and other similar races. I’ve worked with a trainer and done the solo gym thing for the past few years and have had a terribly tough time motivating myself and haven’t quite found consistency. I’ve previously done class based gyms, and enjoyed them much more because of the community aspect. Finally ready to make the switch to a class based community after settling down in Lanc City!

I am looking for moderate / high intensity classes with trainers that will push me and a community that will motivate.

Hello! I am looking for Halloween-themed events I can take my 16-month-old niece to during the week. Because of her bedtime, it's been hard to find events during the day or early evening. Does anyone have suggestions? I'm seeing a lot for the weekend, but would also like to take her during the week! I checked the local libraries and the Lancaster Online sites, but nothing seems doable for her age.

We were amazed and moved by the performance of Spring Awakening at EPAC today.

The talent of the performers, the choices made by the director , the staging and cool theater. Our experience has mostly been nyc theater where we lived till recently and this show knocked it out of the park. Ps: Jonathan Groff originated the lead at the Broadway premier in 2007

I grew up going to Grotto's in Rehoboth, DE, but I was excited to hear they're in Lancaster now. I've been gluten free for almost 2 decades. There is a rooster wandering around the vacant property next door.

I spoke to a police officer about it, but, of course, there's nothing they can do about it. I'll give him credit -- he did go somewhere that he knew they had a backyard coop and asked if they had one go AWOL. They didn't.

Anyway.....

There's nothing the cops can do about it -- he told me to do whatever I wanted with it. I don't want to do anything with it. I certainly don't want a pet rooster.

I've heard nothing from the Lancaster Farm Sanctuary and can't find a phone number to speak directly to someone.

I'm hoping this rooster can find a home before it gets to cold or he can't find his own food.

Any suggestions for a events or happenings that we all would enjoy? something cute and fall oriented would be really nice too.
Time frame: we’d like to go out and do something sometime starting around 5 and we plan to leave around 9.
