It's just how it's setup. We have hundreds of games now that make it work, and still OWI looks at it and thinks. How can i make a version that's mine but worse.

Overall the game seems to be running pretty smooth and feels great.

The Good:
- Same great sound design
- Love that they didn’t botch the aiming like Hell Let Loose did. It feels like you can tune it for console and not feel floaty like PC
- Didn’t experience too much rubber banding

Needs Work:
- Obviously porting a game like SQUAD to a controller even with paddles is going to be a cluster so they need to polish it some especially in the area of vehicle seat switching.

- I would actually see them bury the text chat option for a smoother voice comms switching system on console, but i understand with PC cross play things can get jank.

- Tutorial needs some better handholding as most people aren’t even remotely tuned in to how to make HABs or FOBs.

Overall, I know there is a lot of negativity around PC, and I get it because it’s valid. But I am hoping their one SQUAD vision helps smooth it out.

Considering the dumpster fire that Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is and the jank that comes with ARMA, I think SQUAD has a real window here to build a player base before Wardogs drops.

As per title, anyone know how to invert the look view on the new Ps5 version of squad?

I had to check it out.

Menus are buggy; and navigating the tac map is also buggy or just lacking the feature to fully navigate it. Coming from PC, the controls also feel foreign and will take getting used to.

However, my first impressions are that it runs surprisingly well, especially in comparison to HLL: Vietnam. The movement feels good and while the gunplay will take getting used to with a controller, it generally seems consistent with PC.

My Squad had no clue what was going on. There were no HABs, no logi, etc. I managed to corral the squad as SL and get us to a decent spot for a Rally. Players seemed to be using both Squad and proximity chat and having fun.

While I will certainly still prefer this type of experience on PC, I’m genuinely surprised at how good it felt my first time interacting with it. Chilling on the couch with this type of game felt nice. There is a fun experience here for people on console, I think.

Cue the Doomer responses here, but I’m optimistic.

EDIT2: I’ll also add that I too have been frustrated with the odd development choices on PC lately. I do hope they can clean that up.

FINAL EDIT: I also think this experience feels MUCH better than Arma Reforger on console (and HLL: Vietnam, as I mentioned).

My lovely wife found a solution. Have the PS App on your phone and logged in. Go to the alpha website. Click download on the website. It will now bring you to the app instead of the PS Website. You can download it from the PS App.

I don't know why it isn't showing up anywhere else on the store, but this roundabout method worked for me

After reading the console announcement and FAQ, some players have mixed feelings about where Squad is heading.

A lot of PC players already suspect that OWI has been diverting resources toward the console port while PC development has been neglected. Considering the disastrous initial launch of 10.6 and the community backlash, I can understand why people are frustrated. We don’t know how much console development actually affected the PC team, but OWI’s track record with updates and roadmaps certainly doesn’t inspire confidence.

That said, bringing Squad to consoles makes perfect business sense. It’s a new market with potentially significant revenue, and if successful, it could mean more resources for Squad’s development.

However, a few things in the FAQ concern:

Crossplay and aim assist: Console players will have aim assist, while PC players can join console-ruleset community servers. What’s stopping people from using XIM-style mouse-and-keyboard adapters to exploit aim assist? I hope OWI has considered this.

Limited content: The console version launches with only 6 maps and 8 factions. Since crossplay servers have to use the console ruleset, PC veterans would effectively be giving up a significant amount of content just to play with console players. That’s a pretty big downside.

Official servers: Consoles are getting official servers while PC remains entirely community-hosted. Given the long-standing problems with community server management, that’s an interesting decision.

I’m not against Squad coming to consoles. I just hope OWI can actually deliver on its One Squad promises without further slowing down PC development.

And one last thing: Why do the British soldiers in the announcement trailer keep teamkilling their own teammates lmao?

It generally makes sense now. All those bugs and mew bad patches were because they weren't focused on us for the last month !

I'm starting to get sick of the neglect for this game. The bugs just keep piling up with no fixes insight. Some bugs have been around for years and just ignored. Now they want to release it on console while the game still feels like its in alpha. Yikes.

If you have any bugs thats not in this video, please list them below, just make a full list of all the shit that needs to be fixed.

If you for even 1 second think this bum ass company, that completely nuked their game into a buggy, fuck ass, neglected mess, who can't even get a UI update to go properly, and eviscerated peoples NASA PCs with UE5, is going to run on consoles properly you are delusional. Since 2020 I've watched this company fuck up every single thing they could, at the expense of people who enjoy their game, to bring in new players who buy it, play 20-100 hrs then never touch it again.

The OWI team is a mess, people quiting, stepping down, changing positions. Bugs from 6 years ago still exist. Devs fix 1 bug, gloat about it on social media and cause 15 more we'll never see fixed or them even acknowledge. Fucking over long time loyal Modders who have helped them. Completely neglecting content creators responsible for thousands of copies sold and doing ZERO collabs or thank yous.

I actually cannot wait until the game comes to console, because of how fucking terrible the fallout will be. The online flaming, and flak they're gonna take will be historical. They might actually make history as the worst console port of all time.

The delay in delivering important updates was overshadowed by the push to port the game to consoles. It’s all about capturing market share; the priority was never the large group of people who actually sustain the game. WAKE UP!

Hello, I made a previous post regarding issues with the alpha download not showing up in the ps store. I have found that if you open a link to the alpha on your phone or pc; shown here https://store.playstation.com/en-gb/product/EP7072-PPSA39737_00-SQUADPS5BETATEST , you can wishlist the game and open your wishlist on your ps5 to get to the games page in order to download it. Convoluted indeed but nonetheless a means to download the game, such a shame it has to be this way but im still interested in playing squad for the first time as a long time pr player, anyways come back to project reality yall we're waiting for yall patiently family.
