📣 ANNOUNCEMENT Notice regarding comments targeted at Travellers and Roma
Can't believe I'm having to write something like this again only three months after the last one...
There has once again been a noticeable rise in the use of dog-whistles and other derogatory comments against members of the Travelling and/or Roma communities.
As a reminder, ethnicity is legally protected characteristic in this country, therefore comments such as the following fall under our hate speech rules:
- Dehumanising language
- Calls or support for exclusion of members
- Calls for or support for violence against members
- Implying members are responsible for actions carried out by other members is not allowed
- Slurs and dog-whistles (including but not limited to utterances such as "knacker", "culture", "culture boss")
- Statements of inferiority aimed at members
The Travelling and Roma communities remain open for discussion in this community provided it is done factually and respectfully.
Any and all dog-whistles used against the Travelling or Roma communities will be removed, and the offending commenters will be receiving community bans starting from 14 days.

📍 MEGATHREAD Custom Charges Alternative Websites.
Hi all,
Given the new EU custom charges are rolling out today and many of the websites we use for things like clothes, electronics and household goods ship from the UK, even if many of them have a .ie web address, we thought it would be a good idea to have a list of alternative sites from within the EU.
So if you have found an online marketplace thats good value and which ships from the EU list them here.

Sure it's grand Illegal license plates clampdown
Remember the whole spiel about this last year.
As a driver I have noticed zero difference and license plates. They seem to be just as common and it seems no one bothered there arse to change them which makes me think that the guards have made zero effort to bother their arse to enforce it?

Education Appalling that all school books get thrown out as the syllabus changes every year now
It just seemed so wasteful. Society is meant to be passed this. When I think back to how I never really read any of the books I got in school, it makes this seem all the more terrible. I might look at 10% of the content within school books, but at least I knew the book would get use when I'd sell it.

Infrastructure Cyclists not stopping at red light at Clanwilliam Place, Dublin 2
I am a cyclist and a pedestrian. When cyclists have red lights in the bicycle lane at this junction and pedestrians have green to cross this junction it is appalling that dozens of cyclists plough through the green man and endanger and terrify pedestrians trying to legally cross the cycle lane. The number of times I've been crossing at the green man only to have to jump back to where I started because of ignorant cyclists at the junction is unreal. And also, when at the front of the queue as a cyclist at the junction when facing a red bicycle light - the hassle from cyclists behind trying to force the law abiding cyclist to break the red light and plough through pedestrians is a disgrace.
