I love this style and finally have real money to get furniture, but am learning that most of the furniture in this sort of colorful, modern/abstract, scandinavian style is very expensive (like $2.5k for a shelf). I know many pieces are worth that price, and I would get a thousand dollar vintage coffee table if I could, but I cannot. I don't know what this exact style is but seems to be a combo of scandi, 'dopamine decor', abstract, and bauhaus/memphis and it makes me happy (pinterest inspo attached).
Is there anywhere I can look to find more affordable furniture in these styles? Estate sales? High-end vintage? Just suck it up and save up for months to buy a new designer shelf? Specifically looking for shelves/sideboards, rugs, and an armchair, and I haven't had luck on fb marketplace. I would appreciate advice on where to look for this style without spending all my savings!

I've gone into the store twice now and come home with paint chips that end up far too red, dusty, or brown

Found this marble mantle fireplace surround for $200 on Kijiji before I even had the fireplace. If it were a millimeter shorter it wouldn’t have fit. The art is a place holder until I find something I love, I got tired of a blank wall.

Hey everyone!
I’m slowly arranging the vignettes around our new home and I’m having a hard time choosing between these sideboards for my living/dining area. The mock ups are what I hope I end up with when I’m done. Which one works best with the existing furniture and overall aesthetic? Open to other suggestions, too!
The last photo is the actual space.

I’m Goldilocksing hard on choosing a paint color for my dining room. Help!
I want some thing between royal and navy, that will have rich color with some vibrancy, without being too much. I want it to be noticeable, but not the focal point of the room if that makes sense
Blue will go on the lower portion, BM White Dove (creamy white) on the top (the curtains will be white with pink tigers)
I’ve narrowed it down to BM Prussian Blue (the lighter shade), or BM New York State of Mind
I’m thinking NY SoM, but go back and forth lol
Thank you!
Update: thank you everyone for the suggestions, I am loving all the feedback and ideas
I too love the pea soup green, but it’s been here for 11 years and 10 in my previous home, and I need something different. A nice chartreuse perhaps?
The rug is from Allen Home, but Anthropologie also sells it and you can see customer photos there
The curtains aren’t staying! They were just a temporary solution from Target. They’re being replaced by cotton slub with pink tigers (similar to Anthropologie Fleming curtains)
I had an idea to do a sari style block print on the walls but haven’t decided yet, hence when I am settling for white for now.
This room gets loads of afternoon sun, and I want it to feel bright and happy. I’m open to wall color suggestions! Aqua or BM Forest Moss I think would go nice

Hi first picture of dining table is without a rug the others are with and I can't decide if it goes or not. I like the look of it but im not sure if it goes with the rest of the apartment. My style is transitional anything goes as long as it looks timeless and is a mixture of colour and neutral, antique to modern. Is this stripped rug too modern? Too much of a pop of pattern that it distracts from the rest of the apartment? I'm definitely not a minimalist and I like "things" so your eyes can roam the room but is this too much where your eyes automatically go to the rug and everything else falls flat? Im like 50/50 here because i really do like the look but im doubting if its too much. Thoughts please 🙏
ETA ok thanks everyone. Opinions are pretty split maybe leaning towards no. At least I know im not crazy since there's no consensus. I'm going to live with it for a couple of weeks see how it feel i think I got 90 days to return. I really do like it but he fact I'm having doubts and think it distracts from the rest of the living room which I want to look interesting and colorful but also timeless is a bit of a problem. And I was leaning to no as well but I will be replacing the white cofee table with a round wooden one so if I get a more neutral dining table rug then two wooden tables on two neutral rugs will be too matchy matchy which I absolutely detest. I want nothing to match I just want it all to go together. And I guess the rug doesn't ? Welp im still undecided.....

I’m 30s single male and have been refreshing my space the last year or so. I’m really happy how it’s coming together! I’m an artist and love color, so wanted to bring it in somehow. Would love some thoughts on my ideas for next steps.
I plan on refinishing the coffee table, I’m thinking to just strip it, sand and stain. Or should I leave it? I do love the bold color.
I’m planning on putting more shelves in the space between the sofa and bookshelves to tie it together.
The record drawers at the end I want to replace with something vintage, maybe a roll-top desk for a true library look?
Should I paint or wallpaper the living room? I’m thinking of the William Morris pattern, Standen.
Dining room, I’m happy with. I want new chairs for a real cafe/bistro look. The walls will get filled with paintings from travels, and I want to get more caricatures of friends and family to hand up.

I want my home office to be a cozy place that I actually want to spend 8 hours a day, 5 days a week in.
This room is East facing so it gets direct light in the morning and it dulls out towards the end of the day.
I know I can repaint if I don’t like it but wanted to see if I can do better with my choice.

Hi all! Wanted to request some assistance for finding a coffee table and rug to fit my tight nyc living & dining area.
For the rug - I am thinking that a smaller one might work better to have more of a passage way in front of the TV console? Planning to get one that adds some color as well.
For the coffee table - this is very tough since both sides of the couch extend into a chaise as pictured, making the space very tight. Is there anything that could work here? I want the living area to look a little more complete.
Thanks in advance!

Hello all, this is my living room for the moment. Joined an empty one in April, this is the current version 🙂 would like to hang my frames 🖼️, posters, photos etc.** I don’t know which wall or what disposition to put them**. Any ideas how to better fit?
Remark: I have several frames, different sizes, 30x40, 50x70, etc

We recently completed a kitchen renovation (hence zero decor) but the back wall looks unfinished and I don't know what to do with it. I'd love to do built ins but that's out of the budget for now. Any ideas?

We bought our house a few years ago and it’s very “millennial grey”. Grey walls, grey tile, white baseboards, etc etc. We painted our cabinets trying to break free of that and I fear I added to the problem. These were meant to be taupe that looked much more brown (color swatch attached-Fairview taupe by Benjamin Moore), but alas, they look grey. We’re redoing all the flooring and repainting the walls, so I’m hopeful having warmer colors around will bring the brown out and warm things up a bit. We’re doing a laminate for lifestyle reasons. Thoughts on these 2 samples? I’ve also attached the paint color scheme for the house for reference. I’ve also thought about changing out the cabinet hardware to gold? Appreciate y’all’s help!

Just got this house and this room is a little strange to work around and I’m stumped.
For the layout, the “dining area” is where the couch and tv will be and the area by the fireplace and bay window will be a sitting area and where walkthrough to the kitchen typically happens. The door on the left goes to the kitchen, the right to the foyer (according to the floorplan, not the pics).
We are getting new furniture which will fit whatever changes we make to the room so that’s flexible.
1) I don’t know what to do about the fireplace including the mirror and it’s the one place in the room that has crown moulding, and the hearth is cracked and very dated
2) what kind of window coverings would even work on the bay window? I wanted full length floor to ceiling sheer curtains because the other side has a similar large non bay window, but having them different would be weird right?
3)I hate the walls and color, I have a visceral aversion to beige and neutrals. White/cream is borderline but might be needed. I normally like dark moody dramatic rooms but this room has low ceilings which make that a no go. So I’m thinking lighter? This room gets really nice luminous light that makes the room glow, so I’m thinking something light like apricot with different color wainscoting and accents? Maybe. There’s a danger in that light that colors could show dingy.
4) the ceilings… I actually like them, they have character, but I’m not sure how to make them look i dunno more modern. Try are hand done with a brush, not a trowel, and I think are original to the house.
5) the ancient yellowed ugly ac unit. Ugh
6) the lights by the fireplace, I’m thinking something with glass/crystal that will sparkle in light, or milk glass that will glow softly. Nothing like the stark cold lights that are there. What do you think?
Suggestions and ideas would be helpful! I tried Pinterest but it was all ads.

The duvet cover is the linen one from quince in color Mist (very light blue hue) DISCLOSURE This is an AI rendering because I wanted to remove a rug that’s in there currently to give a blank slate because I’m likely going to get rid of it or replace it (and also to hide some clutter on the nightstand). It’s an accurate representation with those changes reflected.

We recently purchased a house built in the 1930s and I need some ideas for decorating. The bathroom is adorable as is and I love the pink metallic wallpaper but my style does lean more towards mid century modern / funky retro 60s & 70s decor ( I also like a dark & moody style occasionally). I don’t want to touch the original hardwood floors or the wood ceiling and I will probably paint the walls but I am still unsure whether or not to keep the pink wallpaper. I think that maybe the white trim is what’s throwing me off. I’d love your thoughts or ideas on small changes I can make to this room along with potential paint colors. The decor currently in the bathroom is from the previous owner.

Hi everyone,
My family and I moved from my childhood home into a new house after twenty years. We moved about two years ago. At first I was quite against decorating my space as I thought it was a waste of money and I would be moving out anyways. Now that these feelings have faded I’m looking for advice to make my room more cozy and comfy without spending tons of money. I also don’t like a lot of visual clutter and feel overwhelmed with a lot of things. I am thinking I will definitely be getting a new duvet cover and changing my lamp. I’m also thinking about framing some travel pictures for above my bed. I’m also wondering where I should hang my degrees. Not sure if this matters but I’m 25f in Canada.

Help! I am not stylish whatsoever so struggling to find a new bathroom look.
I thought I was set on the blue tiles plus sand floor but something's not hitting the spot, open to suggestions.
Equally I quite like the funky floor and wall combo instead which feels.. easier.
Does anyone have an eye for style and can suggest?
Full tile options at the end.
We will definitely be having chrome taps, white toilet, shower tray and sink.
The wood cabinet we can change to lighter wood, but keep being drawn most to the dark.
Any suggestions welcome.

This entryway feels like it has so much potential, we love the ceiling and Tiffany light fixture, but the stark white wainscoting feels limiting when looking for wallpaper. Additionally the windows in the room seem to eliminate the ability for any larger scale wallpaper print.
Would love ideas for wallpaper & paint (we’d like to match the shoe cabinet to the wainscoting color).
The 2nd door to the entryway is a medium blue.
I’ve tried a few AI wallpaper mockups but nothing feels right so seeking for insight from those with more creativity than me. (images 3-7)
I recently saw an entryway with Cole & Son Nuvolette and loved it, but we intend to use that on our dining room ceiling. Any other recommendations for wallpaper? Do we color match the door and wainscoting?

My room is about 200-250sqft and only has one small window that gets nothing but morning light which means it’s dark for most of the day. Right now it’s this sad beige color in a flat finish which isn’t helping at all. I’m already planning on painting the walls Sherwin Williams Alabaster, but would it be crazy to paint the ceiling something like Urbane Bronze with a drop onto the wall to make the room moody?
First pic is my room, next 2 are Pinterest inspo pictures, and last one is an AI mockup of my room.

i recently moved into a basement studio apartment. there’s four windows (2 of each pictured) that go up to the ceiling, which makes options harder to find.
looking for some ideas on how to cover them. adding a rod to the 2 with the windowsill would be a hassle and isn’t really worth it for me.
window film is really the only current option, but would love to know if there’s anything else. the only important part to me is that i’m able to get some sunlight, so anything that can open!
