Showcase My wife and I blend our styles and I think it works pretty well.

This is just a smattering of some of my better pictures of our house. My wife and I have been working on this place for nearly 5 years now, and it’s all coming together. We have different styles, but I think the mix is kind of eclectic and cool looking, and definitely cohesive. The first picture is our den/library, the middle two are my home study, and the last one is our newly wallpapered kitchen (again my wife’s brilliance). We love it!

Built-ins & Features Tiles - yay or nay?

Hey all, trying to get some opinions on this bathroom. We have a small budget (around 1000 euros) to renovate/change up some things to make it look cohesive and a bit more modern.

We're not sure if we should keep the white sink and remove the tiles (or paint over them), and have a modern look - or keep the tiles and change the color of the fixtures to have a upgraded vintage look. Not sure how to have a modern look with the old tiles. The floor tiles cannot be changed :(

Do you have any ideas? What are your opinions?

TV & Media Wall The wallpaper that grew on me…

When we were looking at this house, so much ticked all the boxes. Except this wallpaper. We both thought it looked like an 80’s dress fabric pattern. We almost bought wood slat paneling before we moved in and thought it would be the first thing we changed. We decided to hold off to prioritize new furniture and other things. After our stuff was arranged and I stared at the wallpaper, it grew on me. Not just a little but quite a lot. It changes with the light and makes me think of foggy mountains or misty lakes. It’s dynamic and interesting. Would it be what I would pick… never! But it works somehow. Curious what the internet world thinks.

Wall Art & Styling What do I do with this wall?

Just moved into a 1980’s tri-level. It has this decorative wood design on the large living room wall that’s also visible from the front door.

What do I do with it? If I hand pictures will it look overwhelming/busy? Should I paint the wood to match the wall color? (Might be controversial). I’m just not sure what to do with it and it’s a pretty big space!

It’s massive (15’x15’x3’) and right inside the front entryway. Beams are structural.

Curtains & Blinds Neutral curtain help- left or right?

Thumbnail

I’m trying to create a soft, neutral palette in my living room and am deciding between these two curtain colors (or can order different ones.) Both would be replaced with longer panels that just touch the floor (as these are way too short.)
Which do you think works better with my white walls, wood floors, and mantel? The last image is of the entire room.
I’d love honest feedback, especially on the undertones. I’m aiming for a warm, cohesive, understated look rather than anything too yellow or pink, so not sure if either works. Thank you!

I really hate taking care of rugs and like the look of the floors. Do I really need one? Is there anything else I should be doing in here?

Update: incorporated some of your ideas, don't know how to add a picture here so it's down there somewhere, Thanks to everyone!

Black or silver refrigerator?

The images are based on our kitchen designer company and I changed the refrigerator styles there.

I tend to prefer the black one.

This is for an open room with eating and living space combined.

What do you think?

Find my Style How can I make my living room feel more traditional

We have three kids(5,3,1) I’m trying to make our space feel more traditional while keeping it cozy and functional with three kids. I was thinking about covering most of the wall with frames or maybe putting a couple frames underneath the two frames already there. If anyone has any ideas please and thank you!😊

Coming to Life Utility room update

For anyone who saw my utility room mock up :)

The left photo is it currently, I used an offcut of our kitchen worktop to visualise it and that's the worktop I've bought ready to go on today. The right hand photo is how I will be doing the worktop (this has been done with ai, changing only the worktop)

I need some ideas for decor now, I'm thinking floating shelves on the back wall? The room is very small as you can see and my phone is right against the wall here taking this photo 😂

I also think I'm going to paint the windowsill to match the window frame

Any ideas appreciated 😊

Curtains & Blinds Curtains or blinds?

Please excuse the mess, in the process of moving in. I am unsure what to do in the kitchen to provide some privacy. It’s a new build so I was debating some thin curtains to run along the top to soften the room or around the edges inside. Or just individual blinds? Or something else?

The walls have been painted Egyptian cotton (trying to blend the browns and greys) and I am keeping the wooden table. The cabinets are grey with black handles.

I am terrible with interior design so always appreciate feedback!

Furniture Placement Really Struggling with Open Concept Plan

Thumbnail

I moved in with my boyfriend a few months ago. I love dabbling with interior design so he's letting me help with decorating/renovations. However, these plans have me stumped! Some of the furniture I moved in from my apartment feels awkward and makes the main floor seem dark. We recently painted the walls from blue to yellow but it still feels off!

I also don't know what to do with the workout space. Boyfriend wants to build a bar there eventually and the exercise equipment is only there as a place holder--but it will take years until we can afford it so I'd appreciate any other visually pleasing suggestions to put there in the meantime!

Things we're already considering:
- Build a half wall between the living and dining room (the one in the picture is a placeholder made of cardboard)
- Replace that godawful dungeon chandelier
- New dining set
- Refurbish ikea furniture with lighter, colorful paint (I'm thinking sage?)
- Replace pantry door (the white accordion door in the kitchen)

Any other suggestions? Anything I should do differently?

Paint & Colors What color should I paint my kitchen?

I’ve put up this green peel & stick tile which I think goes wonderfully with the rest of the cabinetry, but I’m quite torn on what I should paint the rest of the space. The current grey and silver is very ugly imo, so it has to go. Any suggestions?

Furniture Placement Blinds and seating?

Our lil living room space. Need some privacy that also lets in light - do we hang sheer curtains? Do two swivel chairs make sense, or something else? Small spaces are hard.

This is my living room in my apartment. I feel like I have no option on where to put a couch and a console/tv without the couch being in the way of walking from the front door to the dining room threshold.

What is the best color for a dark hallway with no natural light?

These are AI images of the hallway. The light, chest, floor and decor at the end are real but the art on the left is not. It will be a large single painting in an antique gold frame that matches the light and chest pulls. The light in the hallway is 3500K.

I am open to suggestions. Are there better options?

Furniture Placement Help, my living room is lifeless and has no flow :'(

Thumbnail

I need help figuring out how to make my living room ~flow~. The first image is a floor/furniture plan drafted on ikea showing my current layout. At the bottom of the image you can see the "tv" represented with a poster of starry night. That empty space toward the back/upper corner is the dining room that I didn't bother populating with furniture. The second image is a blank version.

My issue is: I'm hunting for a new couch/new seating options so that we can host more people. I can't figure out how to make an armchair work to the right of the couch, it feels like it's pushed too far away from the TV. The window kind of limits where I can move the tv.

I'm considering moving the tv against that leftmost wall, but I don't know if that helps anything because I still can't "center" the TV due to the doorway. I do like this setup for potential sectional options.

Any advice is appreciated!!

Paint & Colors Help remodeling an older house on a budget

Thumbnail

I inherited a house that my kids and I very lucky to have but age and wear have taken a toll on it. I wanted to sand all the wood down and re-stain it, patch holes and dents, sand and repaint the walls. Then I lost all confidence in my ability and color choices. I imagined a darker wood stain like Early American and tinted white walls (I bought a gallon of China White). We are not financially...advanced. I'm a single mom of 2 working full time so time and energy aren't in abundance either. Any advice on colors and the best way to undertake this will be greatly appreciated.
